Fish & Chips
Celine L.

Visited this spot on a week night and was pleasantly surprised! They have a $17.50 fish & chips all-you-can-eat deal from Monday to Wednesday until 8pm. The interior is minimally decorated and they weren't too busy, but had a steady stream of customers. The service was very friendly and attentive. They serve fried Alaskan pollock for the fish and we found the batter to be crispy and not overly battered, which was nice. The fries were pretty standard but tasted fresh. I really enjoyed the homemade coleslaw and tartar sauce. You are given 2 pieces of fish to start, and you can add 1 piece of fish at a time after that. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience! A fun option if you're looking for AYCE!

Came here with my friends for dinner and we were all super impressed! Their fish and chips are honestly some of the best I've had. The fish isn't oily at all. When we finished eating, the plate had zero grease. The fish itself is meaty, flaky, and tastes really fresh, and the batter is light without feeling heavy or thick. The fries are thick-cut, made from real potatoes, and perfectly crispy. We also tried their burgers and loved them. The brioche bun is soft and the fried cod inside is chef's kiss. Great food, great value, and overall such a satisfying meal. I'm definitely coming back and bringing my family next time!

Rebranded as "The London". Decent food, decent prices. Friendly service. Pleasantly surprised by the menu variety. Lisenced.

Battered fish and chips

A quaint spot on the drive that serves flaky, crispy battered fish and chips. My whole family got the two piece cod which comes with chips, creamy coleslaw and tartar sauce. The only this I didn't care for was the tartar because it had purple onions. What makes this place a gem was the lady serving us. She is super friendly and genuinely cares for her customers. Thank you

Had a hankering for fish and chips and wanted to dine in vs. pick up at my other favourite fins and chips place while in Vancouver. Read a few reviews that were mostly favourable for this place on Commercial Drive and when I got there it was shortly after noon and too my surprise it was still closed. The person inside noticed me outside and gestured for me to wait and several minutes later she opened the front door to let me in. She explained with Covid their operating hrs were approximate, so I would call in advance to ensure they are open if you decide to try them out I basically had the place to my own the whole time I was there so no issues with social distancing while dining, I order the two piece cod and it came with a generous portion of fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce. The cod was lightly battered and the cod tasted fresh as well as the coleslaw. The price was decent for the potions that were served, service was attentive and I will come back. Parking I suspect could be hard to find on the weekends as it is a busy street and area, there is free street parking about two or three blocks away if you look for it . When I was ready for the bill I might have scared the server when I got her attention because I was the only one in there at the time and her attention might have been somewhere else at the time lol

3 piece cod

Fantastic fish & chips, the batter is so crunchy. Their grilled chicken burger is very good as well. The environment is very pleasant and the staff are incredibly nice and welcoming, which is very refreshing compared to some of the newer (and ruder) restaurants around it. One of the last stores in this neighbourhood that hasn't been bought out, gentrified and yuppified. I hope everybody who reads this review decides to order from here at least once, because businesses like these that support the community (amazing prices) should be supported back. Thanks to the super nice ladies who work there for feeding me since a child (10 years+) and for showing my friends, family and me great hospitality.

Menu #1

Halibut fish and chips was excellent. They also were very willing to sub in grilled halibut instead of battered and sub a salad instead of chips. All was delicious including the coleslaw. The fish was very juicy. Unfortunately the chowder wasn't at all liked by my friend. Highly recommend the fish dishes for sure! Note prices now higher than previous posts - see menus

Had fish and chips last night, delivered by doordash. Dinner was good, delivered hot and I'm happy to have good fish and chips near home.

My sister and I visited Go Fish this past Sunday for lunch. It's been a number of years since my…read morelast visit so I was eagerly looking forward to having a fish & chip lunch on the wharf again. We both ordered the single piece salmon & chips along with a pair of cold beverages. When our orders were ready I was in great anticipation. Imagine my surprise to find all the chips underneath my salmon were hard, greasy and NOT FLUFFY inside their really crispy exterior!! I pawed through the entire dish and didn't find a single chip worthy of being the same as its British counterpart. The salmon was cooked kind-of dark but the fish was still moist thankfully. The coleslaw was tossed in an Asian dressing but the flavour did taste as bright and refreshing as I recalled. We were both so hungry that we ate most of our chips anyways. Big mistake. Little did we realize that this action would come back to haunt us later with indigestion that would last hours. We should have complained about the chips but we didn't because both of us had worked in a restaurant in our youth and know how orders that get sent back to the kitchen can get treated so we didn't want to chance it. Service at the order counter was efficient. We were only third and fourth in the line up when they opened up for service so it took quite a while for our orders to be ready. There were a number of tables available for patio dining on their deck. The ambiance was quietly expectant with regular diners waiting for their orders to go and to dine in the patio. The weather was great for a sunny Fall day that I couldn't enjoy it the way I had hoped to with gish & chips overlooking the water front. I couldn't get past my biitter disappointment with the chips because they are such an integral part of this traditional cuisine. It made me wresting whether the chips were the previous days chips refried again or the cook overcooked the chips from lack of care. Either way we have decided we won't be returning. Eating out has become much more expensive everywhere with inflation. Value for the money is not here for us. In past visits years ago my family and I would have rated this place 4.5/5 but that impression has disappeared. I can only rate it worthy of a 2/5 now. We can find better fish & chips from others elsewhere.
