a plate of fried fish and fries

I got the all you can eat cod and chips options !!! Was fantastic! Nice and clean restaurant with good service. Don't come for the atmosphere however. ... come for the awesome crispy fish and chips !!!! Lots of great tarter sauce !!! Wow wow wow ! Fantastic fish and chips with slaw at Austin Fish and Chips! These have flown to the top of my list. The stand out is the beautiful crispy batter ! A lot of places will give you a soggy batter.. or it starts crisp and gets soggy. These stayed crispy the entire time! The fries were also well cooked and not soggy! Better then the C Lovers ! Comes out crisper and much more delicious!!!

Wild Cod Fish weighed in at almost 4.5 oz, that's double of standard wild fish fish & chips

Value: 5 stars (All U Can Eat Wild Cod & Chips) Decor: 1 star (But this is a high-quality food, no-frill decor place) Quality: 5 stars (you can't get this much wild fish anywhere else) Service: 5 stars (1 young server, super attentive and polite) I am a recipe developer and had fish & chips in different cities. Austin House Pitt Meadows is the only one that delivers wild fish in affordable price whilst serving it in the best possible thin batter, freshly fried on order, with unlimited fries. Because I am on a low-carb diet, I asked to substitute fries with coleslaw and it was done - no questions asked. The coleslaw is very basic so it is NOT a feature. The fish size is at least double of other establishment that sells wild-fish & chips (Pajo). I brought along my food scale and the average wild cod piece weighed in at 4.5oz per piece! (see photo) I am also very keen on observing what food cause body to inflammed (sore gums). I have to report both my husband and I did not experience any inflammation that we normally do when eating fish & chips in other places. As a recipe developer, I know the use of low quality, repeatedly reused and oxidized oil in deep-fry is a major cause of inflammation. So, I know Austin House Fish & Chips at Pitt Meadows did not cheap out on changing their oil. The fries are hand-cut, and has authentic potato taste rather than starch and flour filler in it. My husband and I are into eating REAL FOOD, therefore, the fries here fits the bill (as opposed to Mcdonald's fake fries where we are just eating flour). I usually do not spend time writing review but because this is THE BEST fish & chips I have had, and seeing that there is so few recent reviews, I wish to do some justice to these owners who have the right philosophy of serving high-quality whole real food, reasonably priced. Decor: Since all the money is probably spent towards buying the highest quality fish and maintaining good oil practice, I can absolutely overlook the older worn look of the very clean, well-kept place. Afterall, I am here for the fish, not for fancy place. Caveat: This is a franchise business, so what is excellent here does not mean will translate in another location (Coquitlam). Therefore, we will likely take a drive out back to Pitt Meadows if we ever wanted some fish & chips again.

Had eat all you can Fish and Chips at this restaurant with friends and our experienced was good. Coleslaw is not that good. Service is a little bit slow.

Food was good, great fries - no burnt or soggy fries, wild cod and halibut was fresh with good batter and the coleslaw was a delicious lemony finish to the meal.

Solid seafood place near Coquitlam Centre…read more Parking is available in the lot in front of the building. The place looks nice and modern. Comfortable cushy chairs, and wooden trim. Staff are friendly but understaffed. Once the place filled up they were swamped. Signature steamed seafood pot - definitely on the pricey side, but they don't skimp out. Special mention for the presentation. Plenty of goodies including an entire lobster, half a large octopus (tenticle/arm half), snails, oysters, scallops, prawns, and fish balls among others. Basically everything without fish. Served in a large tray (the ones seen at banquet buffets), and everything cooked in broth. This was enough to probably feed 4-5 adults (assuming average appetites). So pretty. Deep fried squid with fries - honestly this dish was meh. Basically exactly what it sounds like. Squid is tempura style. Nothing special. I'd skip this one. Bossam (pork belly wraps) - served with tofu and spicy kimchi and some vegetable (kelp?) as well. They don't really give enough wraps compared to the pork slices. Decent portion size. My friends and I gobbled this up. This place also serves makgeolli (Korean rice wine) for a very reasonable price. Goes well with the food. Overall my friends and I left happy. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point to try some other dishes. Recommended.

The first was my birthday last year, chosen by a friend (I'd never heard of it). This year I was asked where I wanted to go. I did not hesitate to say here! I couldn't be anything other than delighted in my decision--from the pleasantness inside, the wonderful view from our window, the delightful staff and the incredible food and drinks, this place is wonderful. Lucky me that my birthday was on a Wednesday so I could be totally influenced to have oysters-on-the-half shell due to a generous Wednesday night special. I do love raw oysters--and these were so tiny and briny and so incredibly good, I could have eaten five dozen! (I am kicking myself for not finding out what kind they were, but no matter. I would be happy with any they are serving here, I am sure.) I had already planned on having the Oysters Rockefeller (known here as Manor Rockefeller), and so, despite having just downed some oysters, I went ahead anyway and am glad I did! They were wonderful. And there was no real reason for me to pause for a moment in my decision, having already had oysters, because these were soooooo different. It was almost like eating a delicious oyster casserole in a shell. The Mediterranean Mussels were wonderful! (Notice, I was having a dinner of appetizers...) The broth they came in was beautiful (and drinkable, if one were so inclined). I loved the surprising tastiness of the Mama Lil's Peppers swimming around in it. At first I wondered if they would be too hot and compete with the flavor--overwhelming it--but no! Not at all. They were a perfect and flavorful touch. Absolutely wonderful. (And having said that, I know that "pepper heat" is an individual thing--I can tolerate a goodly amount, fyi--I just didn't taste these as hot at all.) Our server, Drew, was immensely helpful (and always charming!) He paired our food with a delicious wine. I guess we would assign my bowl of clam chowder to the dessert category--very thick and creamy--along with a lovely after-dinner cocktail, made by the wonderful and delightful bartender, Sherry. She made me a lovely mocktail to start--I asked Drew to have the bartender just make something up on a whim. It was pretty, colorful and delish with what in it, I have no idea. But, not only was it delectable, it was a vision! All festive and fuchsia, with a "bartender's cherry," and a hot pink umbrella. When I learned Sherry made it, I was so happy because I remembered her from last year--very skilled and very fun to chat with. A wonderful birthday--I highly recommend the Manor.

There is a whole new development with ice cream, bakery, and 3 or 4 eating establishments, all perched overlooking the ocean and the mine museum. We wandered in, and were seated right away, lots of room (it is sort of at the back of the new village area, so you'll pass by 2 or 3 competing options for food first! And it just opened on Thursday - we knew we were lucky! First, the view. The restaurant is perched looking over the highway (or Autostrada in Italian) for an amazing view of the sparkling ocean AND the towering mine museum, freshly renovated and looking good! Plus there are a few mountains scattered around, it IS BC, after all! Second, the fish burger. They have an oyster bar right as you come to the front door, they do seafood towers, it is THAT kind of a place! (On the side of the highway, in deserted little Britannia Beach, I know!). The rockfish was done perfectly, in a burger, and Im no chef, but the sauce gave this the best taste of ANY fish burger EVER. I asked for the side Caesar alongside it - and IT was the best Caesar salad EVER - and I used to make them! Something about the really finely grated cheese and slabs of anchovy filets - and the fries looked good too - but the combination was LIFE CHANGING! (thats why I HAD to write a quick review) Third, the bar. Crazy to serve drinks as you are headed down the highway, isn't it? Almost entrapment! OK, so if you could only have one or two drinks, you'd want them to be GOOD drinks! They have great beer and wine selection, but the bartender mixing the drinks is MADE for Pisco Sours and fine cocktails, crafted right in front of you. He mentioned that he had his OWN version of Pisco Sour - and Im going to highly recommend having a cocktail and looking out at the world with a renewed satisfaction. Third, the patio. No lineup - YET! The word will get out! (Right here) High top tables and chairs AND lowered firetables and couches facing out over the ocean, with umbrellas - classic! And beautiful, well done, interesting - check out the rosewood looking art deco couches, lift the cover on the firetable - here comes fall, it WILL come in handy! You COULD lineup in Squamish for a fast food joint. You COULD be 50 deep at a restaurant in Whistler. OR you could turn off the road in Britannia Beach, explore the new village, find the ice cream shop inside the old church - they hail from Ontario, so they KNOW what they are doing! Autostrada hails from Vancouver, you can find an outlet there too. Add in a great bakery, a stroll to the art gallery on the waterfront, a tour of the mine museum - and you'd better leave early because this is going to be a "secret" favorite stop for years to come!

And while there are no shortage of seafood restaurants serving fresh crab on the Steveston waterfront, we wanted to give The Crab King a fair shake. I'm so glad that we did! My wife ordered a King Crab for herself which, after tearing it literally limb-from-limb, eventually declared it to be tied for her favorite boiled crab dish anywhere! High praise coming from such a consummate crustacean connoisseur! For myself and our son, an order of fish and chips, and the grilled chicken sandwich rounded out our order, both of which were crispy, tasty and delicious. Regarding the fish and chips, they appeared to be tempura-battered, and I'm still not 100% sure what type of fish it was. It may have been cod, but it seemed more like catfish, but either way, it was tender, juicy, flaky and delicious. No complaints here! More than anything, though, the employees here went out of their way to make our experience enjoyable. Our toddler son, who is normally extremely well-behaved in restaurants, was having a bit of a fuss here and there. Without prompting, the servers brought us a little radio to play music for him, as well as a couple of toys to play with, one of them being a wind-up truck that they gave to him to take home! He loved it there, and still plays with it at home! They even played peek-a-boo with him from behind the counter, soliciting laughs and giggles, for the better part of 15 minutes! That sort of customer service is nearly impossible to find, and should be praised and cherished wherever it is found! Whatever the past may have held for this restaurant, the Crab King is an entirely new animal now, serving up fresh seafood by uncommonly wonderful employees, in a fantastic floating location. They even offer to cook spot prawns and other seafood purchased from the boats docked at the nearby waterfront marketplace, for a modest fee. With all these things going for it, there's no doubt who wears the crown of Crab King in Steveston Harbor!
