Came here on a weekend and it was super busy. Although there was a line of people they seem to work them in at a pretty steady pace. They were even able to accommodate a decent sized party of 8 during the rush. Menu consists of typical diner food; but the portions are absolutely massive. Our group ordered a range of menu items, and every single one was huge. From their fish and chips to the Mountain Man Breakfast. I had the later which was fantastic. Potatoes were done just right and getting grilled onions on top is a huge plus for me. Meat and eggs were also done well. Ordered the Farmers Breakfast with German Sausage, Eggs over easy, Rye Bread and Potato Wedges along with Coffee.. Coffee was cold, asked for heated cream and never got it so used the small half-n-half cold cups that came with the coffee Eggs weren't over easy as requested but the German Sausage was cooked well, toast was soggy and the potato wedges were seasoned well but not crisp at all... Asked for a fresh cup of hot coffee and did get it but it still wasn't hot enough... The staff wasn't as prompt or attentive as one would have liked... April 29/2022: This was an alright brunch! Lots of food for the order. I had the "Mountain Man breakfast". The eggs were done right, the bacon had to go back for additional cooking, I wasn't a fan of the sausage flavour but the ham was tasty. The potatoes were cooked right as well. The rye toast was buttered but I couldn't tell on which side! My server was Jennifer whom was very nice & polite. As a treat I also had a slice of Coconut Cream Pie. We went in to buy a whole pie, and they told us that we "could not buy a whole pie because we have to save some for our customers", so what does that make us?? But they said we could buy slices of pies only. So we bought 6 sliced pies, which is a whole pie. But we had to pay $36 worth of SLICED pies instead of $22 WHOLE pie. We stopped into this 'Home' on a recent Sunday morning - seeking an early-am breakfast, on a trip which was to eventually take us east, and into Manning Provincial Park. The restaurant was not far from home, and conveniently-located on the route we had chosen for the first part of our trip. We pulled into their parking lot about 8 am. Good, friendly, and cordial service from entry-to-leaving. And for us, a menu that offered some decent choices - just what we wanted, some solid breakfast 'basics', and not a lot of 'extras' we did not want to include. Mom went with the 'Senior's Bacon and Egg' (one scrambled egg, two slices of bacon, with shredded hashbrown potatoes, and slice of rye toast) -- daughter and I each ordered an 'Eggs Only Breakfast' (two scrambled eggs, shredded hashbrown potatoes, sourdough toast for her, and rye toast for me). They say go big or go home. I'd recommend going big instead of going to Home Restaurant. All the cups and plates were kid sized. The salad was wilted, the cake slaw had no flavor and was dry and sour. The beef dip was miniature and the bread was hard and stale in places. What a great experience! I never understood why 2 of my friends are crazy about this place. They live in Burnaby and they take every opportunity to dine in this place. After today's lunch I must say I fully understand them. This place feels like back in the day when you would invite your friends over to your home for Thanksgiving dinner with your family. The food taste like mom spent all long preparing them for a very special occasion! I had the fish and chips. The fish is fresh and crispy, the French fries are toasty. The tartar sauce tastes fresh and you could tell they used fresh ingredients. Even the coleslaw is spot on (not watery). We also ordered the liver (not for me but my friend was devouring it as if she was in a race to finish as fast as she could!). My daughter, who at age 22 had a stroke previously, ordered a wine for her and myself. They refused her service due to her speach being impacted, and said she was drunk and refused her to service her request for a glass of wine. Personally, I regret paying the bill, as when we left, the manager followed us, and asked where we were going and threatened to call the police if we were driving. Went for breakfast which was ok. I usually order my hashbrowns cooked a bit longer as most restaurants tend to serve them not fully cooked in the middle. I have asked this request at different restaurants & they have no problem accommodating this simple request. The waitress we had said flat out no. When I asked why she said it can mess up the production. I was surprised by them not doing it when I have had it done at this same restaurant before. I am very familiar with how restaurants run as my dad was a professional chef. I won't be back to the Maple Ridge location as my request was very easy & had been done before. I have never been to a restaurant before that would not perform a simple request. I will say you do have really good pies but won't be buying them anymore. read more

I've always been a fan of the Home Restaurant in Hope, so when I had a craving for lemon meringue pie, I had to make a mini trip to this one in Maple Ridge. Yes, it's a bit of a drive, but once you try the pie, you know why you would do it. For the entree I got the schnitzel champignon. 2 large pieces of schnitzel with gravy and mushrooms on top., with a side of mashed potatoes. The outside and light and crispy, and the inside is juicy and flavourful. I could only finish half of it. As always, the service is super friendly. I was looking forward to a piece of Lemon Meringue pie. I was not disappointed in the appearance or the taste. However, I was half way through and noticed something "green" in the crust. Instant turn off. Actually made me sick to my stomach. Turns out there was a package of "blue" jello that went everywhere when they opened it. The cook thought he had caught all the pies at where effected by this error. However, they missed this one. As they should have the pie was taken off the bill. Went for a later dinner tonight and loved it! I had the pot roast and the man had the turkey dinner and both meals were served quickly, hoy and super delish! Went in for the Thanksgiving special. Can say the only part that was quite good, was the pumpkin pie that came at the end. The friend I went with had liver, which they quite enjoyed and had a hard time finishing the meal. The amount of turkey that I received was about a quarter amount compared to the liver. I guess the little scoop of dressing was to make up for the amount of meat. The veg was some sort of baked concoction that you could not really tell what all was in it. Me and my girlfriend went here on a Monday morning for breakfast. We Both ordered eggs benny. The "hollandaise sauce" looked more like a gravy mix from a packet. Greyish Brown colour, with a gravy consistency. Didn't come close to tasting like anything close to a Hollandaise Sauce. On top of that the hashbrowns were all under cooked and hard in the middle. Rendering the meal completely inedible. The only good thing about it was the server was honest with us. She apologized, and explained that the hollandaise wasn't homemade it was from a packet.
