Look, here's how it is. Ratings are relative, right? If this place was in Salt Lake it'd be three stars at best, and if it was in Texas it'd get two stars and a bunch of hate mail. But you didn't come to Moab for the food. You came to Moab because it's one of the most incredible places on this incredible planet. The pulled pork was completely without rub or bark. Only the decent mustard sauce could save it. The brisket was like sliced ham with a smoke ring. The fried okra was more fried than okra. But the drinks are decent, the atmosphere is great, and if you're lucky you will hear some solid blues (Lisa Mac and the rebels of something? They rocked it). So if you're tired from your epic bike ride and feeling too hungry to cook up something yourself, check out the Blu Pig. It's one of the better meals we've had in Moab. read more

We both had brisket sandwiches, coleslaw and baked beans. The brisket was tender, lean and flavorful. Three sauces, two tomato-based and the other mustard-based. The sauces were neither too vingegary nor too sweet. The buns were fresh and held together under the sauce assault. The service was good. All in all, this was very good BBQ. I grew up in KC, lived in Texas and visited SC, so I have eaten my share of good BBQ. This actually as good. read more

We came here cause we are staying in a hotel in the same parking lot and the first night we ate here wasnt great overall but we came again cause we had a long day at our event and it was easy, but night two was WORSE! ! Our take out cashier said maybe 15 min and it was over a half hour - and after asking a few times if it's ready we hear one person tell another it has been and it's sitting there -- so of course our food was Cold! We asked to pack bbq sauce and ketchup and napkins and silverware - none were inside and even after getting all that handed to the cashier after we asked again for bbq sauce and they said it was in the boxes so we opened them and it wasn't! And the one ( not three for us all ordering ) little to go pack of silverware we did get was cracked and so worthless .. the staff wasn't friendly either. In fact the lady named aaime was unfriendly to everyone as she was flustered and not handling crowds well but the crowd wait time wasn't even that bad. The cashier seemed new as he had no idea what he was doing and that was adding to her bring crabby. Oh and that live band? Wow! Made me want to leave no stay. Someones son or brother obviously. Then the food, despite being cold it was still over cooked and dry and they placed the.pickle under not next to the Fries and so it was hot and the fries were soggy, and the salt Waa overkill on the fries, and someone poked a crap ton of holes in our to go boxes and we couldn't see why? I want my food warm! overall it was just not good. Okay sure it's Better than McDonald's I suppose but what's that saying? read more

We had the absolute best service. We are from out of town and traveling with a dog. Every restaurant in town told us they did not allow dogs inside and because it was so cold we were having trouble finding a patio open. The Blu Pig made sure we got a table outside right next to a heater and had he friendliest staff. They brought our dog water and made us feel so welcome. They also recommended another place down the street for breakfast that would allow or dog. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant plus their food is absolutely delicious. read more

Excellent service, great atmosphere, and a really good duo belting out the blues. Had dinner in the bar area for the music. Burnt ends and ribs were top notch, perfectly cooked, and in a nice serving size. Large selection of craft beers. The fried orca was very fresh. The food was good. I had the catfish and requested the sauce they put on the poboy and it good. Great selection of beer. My husband had the voodoo chicken and loved it. I cannot say enough about the service, very good service. We ordered takeout the next night when we were too tired to eat out. Highly recommend this place. We enjoy the blues so that was fun too. I was there in January for a quick trip. This was my second time at the Pig and Angelique was amazing, friendly and on top of things. She even helped my 5 year old with his crossword puzzle. He left her a love note and claimed the pig to be his favorite new restaurant! We are planning another trip soon and we will be including the Pig for one of our meals and requesting Angelique as our server. Oh and I must mention that my cheeseburger and fried okra was on point. read more

We stayed in Moab for one night and planned to go to the blue pig for supper. We looked at reviews and people are crazy this place was great. Horrible service, by a hurried opinionated and pushy waiter. He got the order wrong twice, sneared at some of our selections, and ran off once mid order because we asked questions. (There really is no good service in Moab but this was atrocious.) The burgers were passable. The fries were greasy and cold. The ribs were chewey and over smoked. The owner of the restaurant over heard our table conversation about how bad the food was, angrily confronted us, threw a temper tantrum, and stormed off with part of our meal. I had high hopes for this place as it came recommended but it fell way short of expectations. We went there right before the July 4th weekend and it was a hot one, 100-105 each day. After a long hot day we wanted some bbq, some AC and some cold drinks. Well, first off, the inside of the place was hot and stuffy. It was cooler outside then in, that should set the mood for you (strike 1), The drinks we ordered came late and the ice had melted already...asked for more ice and it never same (strike 2). The BBQ was hit and miss, some parts were very juicy and other dry as a bone (this covered ribs, chicken, and pork). The sauces they had were OK, but not anything to remember. On Friday 4/20/18 we had The Blu Pig cater a pre wedding party for 50 people in Rotary Park. It was excellent. The ribs, brisket & pulled pork were fantastic & plenty of it. They also had beans, corn bread & salad plus plenty of soda & water. They supplied all the plates, utensils & napkins. They were easy to work with & I would highly recommend The Blu Pig for catering. read more

We ate at this restaurant twice while staying in Moab. The first time was based upon the dog friendly reviews. We were pleased with the large patio for our furry friend. I hate it when I encounter restaurants that should be killing it and aren't. Our party of 12 visited Blu Pig over the holiday weekend and our high hopes for some tasty meat were moderately deflated. Our server was friendly and on top of things. The restaurant itself was a bit dodgy but decent. The big issue with this place is the food. My brisket lacked flavor and my baked potato wasn't fully cooked. Others at my table had similar issues. If they invested in improving the quality of food served, there's no doubt in my mind this place could give nearby hot spots like Moab Brewery a run for its money. read more

We were trying different restaurants while visiting Moab and this one stood out. Food was ok. I had the sampler. Wife had the tri tip. It was good. Nothing spectacular. I had some fat chuncks in mine. I wanted to try a micro brew and I don't think our waitress knew much about the menu so basic bud light it was. Moab brewery was much better. read more

We were out and it was a little early for dinner, but we decided to stop in , thinking we'd get something light, but filling. Our waitress greeted us cheerfully and took our drink order. By the time she returned with the drinks, we were ready to order. My husband ordered a rack of ribs, because he enjoys having them as a snack at home. The rack was huge! I had a pulled pork sandwich which was also a generous serving. The BBQ sauces were different hotness, so you could choose which to use. I heard the waitress ask another guest if they would like pecan pie, so, even though I had eaten plenty, I ordered a piece. It was delicious and fresh. Everything was tasty, except the onion rings, which were watery like they were frozen and just warmed up. The hush puppies were a much better side choice. It was quiet in the restaurant for the most part, but we were early in the evening. The menu was varied and offered good choices for your appetite. read more

Best barbecue we've found yet! We chanced on the Blu Pig when we found the parking lot at the brewpub down the road where we had intended to go for dinner so full we couldn't get in. The Blu Pig was right across the road from our motel, and what a wonderful, serendipitous discovery. On a two-week trip across the country and back, this was by far the best meal of the trip. Great barbecue with a perfect, smoky sauce and an outstanding selection of microbrews. We love good barbecue and can honestly say this is the best we've had anywhere. Highly recommended. read more

We just tried it tonight on the off-season in Moab. The food was fantastic. If you're a sauce person, you won't be disappointed!! Their homemade BBQ sauces are amazing, their ranch and dipping sauces are even better. Our two young boys gobbled their fresh cut fries all up. The onion rings were hand battered! The sweet potato fries come with the most delicious sauce ever! I ordered the smoked turkey and it was so moist and tender. The pulled pork was great too. My husband got the ribs which fell off the bone. The service was perfect too. I'd recommend this to anyone. Great, great food. I know they only recently opened earlier in April 2011,but I hope they stick around so we can come back every year! read more

Great BBQ! I ordered the sliders sample, pull pork with Cole slaw, Turkey and tri tip. The pulled pork was my favorite of the three. My side was the hash brown casserole. Yummy! The sweet tea was spot on. The tri tip was tough. I would of liked more soft. Micah was our server. He had great recommendations and fast service. Wish I could give zero stars...totally bad experience...never even got seated...told a15 to 20 minute wait...after 40 minutes the hostess told the 20 of us waiting that they were short staffed in the kitchen and the manager told her they couldn't seat any more tables...at that point we were third in line for a table for three...but no idea if we would ever be seated...worst friggin service I have had in years...avoid like the plague...there are plenty of other choices in town... read more

While staying in Moab we passed this place a few times but being BBQ lovers we gave it a try. We had asked a waiter at another place and he said it was good, we asked a tourist who ate there and she said NO! Should have listened to her! We went early and the place was empty. Well that's good, no waiting and should be served quickly. We both ordered the 2 meat plate. We both chose the 1/4 rack of ribs for 3 bucks more making it $19.95. I got the wings (waiter did not know if the Cajun sauce was spicy or not.) That is not good! Plus the guy never smiled once at us. He did fill the coke and ice tea but never said an extra word to us...ick! The food was so-so. We have had much better. I thought my onion rings were perfect and the sweet potato fries were nice and crisp. I did notice another waitress was so friendly to her customers and brought them about 3 sauces for their fries...we got none from Mr No Personality! The sauces on the table were delish and the ribs were fall off the bone tender but lacked in taste, like no seasoning except the bbq sauce spread on them. Oh well, our bill was 52,00 with no alcohol for 2. A bit much. my hubby had the tri tip and it seemed under spiced too! I would not recommend this place. Should have listened to the tourist on the street! Only good thing was TV was channeled into the Red Wings game and they were winning. read more

Dinner for 6 of us, fairly late. The hostess moved tables and chairs around for us and seated us quickly, with lots of smiles and friendly banter. Ben, our waiter was right there for our drink orders and was extremely attentive throughout the meal. The food was wonderful. Loved the mustard BBQ sauce. Portions were huge. The blues music was a perfect background accompaniment to our meal. Not too loud, just right to enjoy it and still have conversations. It was a great place and we will be back whenever we are in Moab. read more

Some of the best Gumbo I've ever had! Had their Cobb salad with Tri-tip and it was all good, the Tri-tip was very tender and tasty. I would recommend this to anyone that loves smoked meats. Oh yeah, their Cole slaw is really good too! read more

Best meal in Moab! We were here for a week and tried many restaurants but this was easily the best one! Our server was very good and checked on us often, BBQ was amazing, drinks were great, and loved the local live acoustic music they had. Would recommend to anyone!!! read more

Wow, wow, wow! I could not be any more disappointed in a dinner and the handling of the situation by the manager. The owner needs to take a good long look at the training of his employees. My father and I are on a ten day road trip through the southwest so we stop in Moab for the night. We are staying at the La Quinta so naturally we walk across the way the the restaurant that shares the parking lot. The place is full so we sit down we both want a filet but the waiter says they are out but their t bone is great. We both order the t bone medium rare I tell the waiter closer to rare on mine than medium just to be sure it even close to rare. Our steaks come out and my dads is perfect I cut into mine and it's cooked all the way through no pink in site. They immediately rush another one out and it's more cooked the last one. Finally in consolation they bring me my sides and say we will have a new steak soon. By this time who cares my dad is done with his meal and I'm not hungry. So when the steak comes out I tell them to forget it especially after noticing it's still not medium rare or anything close to it. There is no way I'm paying $27 a steak for two steaks that were super fatty and not cooked to my order. The most amazing part of the whole ordeal was that I NEVER a saw a manager. No I'm sorry no can I give you a desert no don't worry I didn't charge you, would you like something else no customer service what so ever!!! I had to ask for the manager. Boy was that a joke I guess he is not only the manager but the cook who can't cook he came out ready to fight he told me I was a liar and his steaks were all cooked correctly when I said all you needed to do was say your sorry and maybe taken both my father and my plates away a replated both meals so that we could have shared our meal together he flew off the handle and told me to leave. I laughed and said did you want me to pay for my bill or just leave. He then stormed in to the kitchen and drug out a piece of meat from the kitchen and claimed it was my perfectly cooked steak. Again telling me I was the moron and he was right. I guess in his mind he is right not the customer. The owners should be ashamed that this man is representing them. Don't waste you money on the steak unless you like them over cooked and by all means don't complains because you will be called names and treated horribly!
