After reading the reviews I had mix feelings about coming in. I will say I was blown away! This place was amazing! They have a huge menu, the staff was was that perfect combo of friendly and sassy that made the experience even better! Love the mom and pop feel and the food.... we did not let a single bite go to waist. We both got build your own burgers and the options for that alone were endless and the best build a burger I've had! This has become my family's Sunday breakfast spot! The staff are so wonderful. The French toast is out of this world. I've had a few different items and by far my favorite are their biscuits and gravy. There is an option to build your own omelet, I highly recommend that! With the country gravy on top. Everything was great!! Came in a little later and everyone was still in a great mood. Food was fast and so good!

Friday 11/19 was a 5 for our burgers and fries (although salt on the fries would have been nice) but Saturday 11/20 was a zero as the steak was horrible, potatoes and veggies majorly undercooked and all flavorless. We didn't drink alcohol Friday, but Saturday treated us to a VERY sour margarita and long island iced tea that was blue, pink and super sweet I recommend NOT ordering drinks here ...or anything other than burgers. read more

If you like 1/4 inch dry fried greasy halibut, crappy service, and rubbery pie that looks and tasted like it was from the dollar store then this is the place for you!! i ordered take out 2 piece halibut meal and pie w ice cream and the waitress forgot the tartar sauce, utensils, the coleslaw and ice cream for the pie i had to drive back to get the utensils, ice cream and coleslaw, and by the time i got back to the room the halibut was cold, tough greasy and chewie i gave it to the dog and ate the potato and cold slaw and the pie.... I got a piece of rhubarb strawberry with ice cream and she forgot the ice cream! and the pie!! Omg it looks like a frozen pie from the $1 store ..see my photo..i tried it , but tossed it out. ..and ate the ice cream.. i was so disappointed they weren't busy there was no excuse to forget so much of the take out order and the halibut !!! So dry, so thin so greasy .l i never had such HORRIBLE chewy dried out, over fried thin,... i wonder if that is really fish!!! I seriously schewed and chewed and chewed before i could swallow one bite ..gave ot my dog ... I dont think it was halibut ..it didnt look like it at all. They gave me two triangles of "fish" which looked like apple pie from McDonald's look at my pics ..they say it all!! oh and i tried breakfast and order the corn beef omelette and if you like a can of corn beef slap on a super thin dry "omelette " then this is the place for you ..i was so insulted when i saw the omelette...i ate the cold toast and hash browns again my dog ate it too so my dog ate both meals I gave this place two tries and both times extremely disappointed in the quality, preparation of the food and service .. go to the Mariner restaurant . Its just your average diner made with mediocre quality food. We order the jalepeno poppers, the Elk burger, western burger and Kids corn dog. It taste like the Jalapeno poppers & corn dog were previously frozen. The Elk burger isn't made with Elk meat. Both burgers were very basic, nothing special to add. Our server was nice and our food came out in a timely manner. Im not sure we'll come back to give this place another try, especially when there is so much better places to eat at. read more

This new American-style restaurant just opened February 4th. I don't recall having dined at the former restaurant here so can't comment on the differences, but I have heard from a number of locals that they're happy to have another restaurant option on the table. The more the merrier. I tried the halibut and chips and was happy with it. The service was friendly. I understand the issues with grand openings ... but even after only three days they looked to be on top of things during my visit. Worst restaurant in Sequim. Greasy heavy food if they remember to bring it to you. Poor service. They don't refill your coffee, forget the salad, and you have to hunt down your server. Don't order the Reuben sandwich. I've never seen such a skimpy Reuben in my life. read more

Went for lunch today restaurant is cozy with booths. My husband ordered the Halibut and chips and I ordered a small green salad with a side of garlic bread. Tried both the ranch and blue cheese dressing. Everything was very good. Will definitely be coming back. Came in for breakfast on a Saturday. I had the special of the day, described as 'Corn-beef omelette with hash browns I think? It was meh... OK-ish. I thought it was fairly unimaginative. They just took canned corn beef hash, and folded it into a plain Jane omelette. No other items at all. If you took the same hash from a can, and tossed a bit on the plate and put a fried egg next to it, you would have the same thing. Took probably 40 min for omelette. Coffee service was decent. Super cheap prices. So if you aren't looking for anything special, and you've got time on your hands, you'l probably be happy. read more

My son and I cane for the build your own burgers. At $12, it was a reasonable price and comparable to any other sit down restaurant. We really enjoyed the variety of choices, from bread, to meat, to toppings. Portion size with sides was very generous, neither of us could finish our meals. The only reason for four stars instead of five was that both our sourdough breads were under toasted, resulting in greasy, soggy bread instead of toasted. I ordered my burger with sautéed mushrooms and onions, which were also overly greasy. Our server, Natasha, was fantastic. Very friendly and accommodating, especially with kids. (Both my 12 yo, and much smaller humans around us.) We will definitely return. read more

The staff was super nice. The inside is such a huge improvement compared to 10 years ago when it was a different restaurant. But unfortunately I was super unimpressed with the food. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and I had halibut fish and chips. They either order premade/ cooked from outside sources or my food was cooked earlier and microwaved when I ordered. I had to use a knife to cut my halibut because the underside of the fillets were so hard it was like they microwaved it. The fish was tough- which is strange for fish. The fries were good. My husband also thought that what he ordered was reheated. I would really like to see this place do good and I am hoping that it was just a bad day. My wife and I ate at the Big Elk on 3/16/19 for lunch. Boy what a disapointment! Of all the places to eat in Sequim and P.A. and the whole area this was by far the worst food I have ever had.., the philly steak sandwich was good but the halibut and chips was probably from the frozen food section at Costco. There isn't any thing wrong with Costco frozen food, but I paid 15$ for 3 pieces of fish. The coleslaw was probably from Costco also. The owners should be ashamed! If this is the way the Big Elk starts then GOOD LUCK.., we won't be back. read more

Our lunch was not as pleasant as we expecyed. We had been looking forward to lunch after having been locked in because of the snow. After waiting 25 minutes we asked the hostess if they had forgotten us. Indeed they had. Why have a special of the day if there is nothing special about it I had soup as a side, then the entree followed immediately, which didn,t allow time to eat the soup while it was hot. One entree was shrimp & it was scattered all over the plate to make it look full, not much food on it. I was quite disappointed. We forgot to ask about the first time in discount, they should have given it to us because of the slow service. Prices are very competitive although Big Elk gives you 3 sides for most meals rather than having to choose 1 of 3. Their menus have a nice variety to choose from including an impressive seafood selection. Lots of easy parking with parking in front of the building. read more

I was very disappointed in the service my boyfriend and I were given. Upon arrival the hostess did not make eye contact did not smile we followed her to our table, did not speak a word to us, not even an your server will be with you in a moment. as she was walking back to where she stood she dropped off our water. I watched her interactions with EVERYONE that came in after us, very different very warm asking them what they would like to drink ect. Our waitress never came to check on us we had to order our Mimosas from the cook i believe it was. I am a white female with her black boyfriend, mind you he was the only one of color in the whole restaurant except for an employee. I will not be back to this restaurant.
