My wife ordered and paid for a dozen cupcakes for a wedding shower to be ready for pickup this morning, 9/11/22 at 9:30. They were supposed to have the bride and groom's initials on them - an "embellishment". When she arrived to pickup the cupcakes there were no embellishments on the cupcakes. The person helping told my wife that they had called her and that she said that she did not want the embellishment because she did not want to pay for it. First of all, they did not make that call. Second, if they did, why would she show up expecting the embellishments? Yes it was an extra $15, but that is the least of an expense when hosting and paying for a bridal shower! So the young rude little girl at the front was just flat out lying to save face. My wife did pay extra to have the embellishments added - which she was told would take 5 minutes. However, it still took over 30 minutes and she was late to the event she was hosting because of this. I wish I could at least say they cupcakes were good. For $54 for a dozen, I would expect they would be excellent. However, I was told that the vanilla cupcakes were quite dry but the lemon flavor was a little better. This all could have been made right by a simple apology for a mistake or even a "customer is always right" attitude. Mistakes happen. But trying to tell the customer they did something they did not - just covering your butt - is irresponsible and bad business. read more

We show up and they know nothing about our tasting and had no one there to accommodate the tasting. The nice girl tried her best to accommodate us. It was a DISASTER! I'm very happy with this bakery! I ordered a custom cake for my mom's birthday and I couldn't be more impressed. I needed the cake for Thanksgiving day, and even though they were busy, they were still able to make it on time, which was awesome. The cake came out beautiful, and tasted amazing. It looked just like the sample photo I sent them and was moist, flavorful, and not too sweet. The buttercream was also tasty. It was also a very generous size, and was easily enough for more than 10 people. Furthermore, the employees I interacted with were all very friendly and I'm quite happy with the customer service I received here. Bought a couple little treats instead of a cake because it was a smaller party. Their fruit on the tart was nice and fresh and there's a chocolate base as well as the custard which is nice. I kept the tart in the fridge and it got too hard. Creme brûlée candy was very crunchy and it sticks to ur teeth but if ur a creme brûlée fan you deal with it :) Macaron varieties - they had a lot of different flavors but I got the tiramisu, creme brûlée, coconut, and cookies and cream??I forgot The dome chocolate cake was everyone's favorite. I saw Batter Up on the way to Lazy Dog at the Shopping Center, I forced my husband to stop because I read CRONUTS, good tactic for getting people in the door! I rarely get a sweet tooth but because I was already in the shop I felt rude not to buy anything, since we had brought out pups up from San Diego we went in separately to place our orders. We ended up picking up a raspberry dome for my mother in law, a slice of chocolate German cake for Bryan and a white chocolate tart for myself, we also got a free cookie for my check in, for that I opted for the coconut, macadamia chocolate chip. *Check in on the app and get a free cookie* We shared the cookie first and oh my god, that is probably the best cookie I have ever had. Crunch but still really moist, I think it has something to do with the coconut flakes! It had the perfect amount of sweetness, definitely a must have when you come! They also let me take two samples of lemon bar, Bryan was not a fan and that's his favorite treat! Bryan wasn't really keen on his German chocolate cake either, which is so weird because he loves chocolate and coconut! He said he was a little disappointed with the flavor. Me on the other hand really loved my tart, it was perfectly sweet and it was more like a cheesecake tart, the consistency was nice and smooth and had a really lovely flavor. They made a special wedding cake for me! I'm vegan but my husband isn't, and of course most of our guests aren't so we requested a special 3 tier cake with the top cake being vegan! They were absolutely wonderful and were able to do this! We got married with Wedgewood wedding Galaway Downs in Temecula and originally they had issued us a cake vendor who was extremely rude and unprofessional when it came to me being vegan, she also said she wouldn't do butter Creme flowers on cakes and that it was "out of style" and that "no one does that these days" she ended it by saying she won't do our cake and that's when I found Batter Up Bakery! Best thing to have happened to us! Not only was everyone extremely sweet and helpful but they were able to make our special half vegan cake and put butter Creme flowers all over it in our special colors! Not only did it taste amazing! Picked up the Honey Almond cake for my dad for Fathers Day recently and I was sad to say it wasn't very good and we were extremely disappointed. Every single cake that I've purchased has been delicious but the Honey Almond had a VERY STRONG almond smell and taste in the cream or something. Its quite possible that the baker accidentally spilled more almond extract than intended, I dont know?! Everyone in my family couldnt handle finishing one slice and it was a bummer situation to say the least as we wanted it to be yummy for Fathers Day. Hate giving bad reviews but I feel the need to share my experience. I ordered a cake for my sons bday. It was very last minute and I needed a cake in the next 48 hours. The line was busy for a whole day so I emailed the bakery it was responded with what she could do. I said yes and never heard back. I ended up having to call and leave several messages till finally I got ahold of someone who took my order again. When I picked up the cake I thought it looked so poorly done. It looked like a store bought cake. For 82 dollars (their prices have nearly doubled) it was 6 inches. The shape was like a cylinder, which they never told me it was so small and tall (super hard to cut and serve) I felt like an idiot for wasting my money I could've easily made or got a grocery store cake. The confetti cake lacked flavor and was dry. It was barely sweet. All in all huge fail. I won't be ordering from here again. read more

1 star for the bakery, but 5+ stars for Ashley. She was so sweet and really helpful with the miscommunication that happened with our order (it wasn't her fault). Working in customer service is really difficult and to be honest, I was a little bit frustrated with the situation we had. She was really cool about it and was able to get our cake a day early. However, the 1 star is for how they only take orders via email, and how our cake turned out. I feel like if they would have taken our order in person or even over the phone, we would have been able to get the cake ready on the day that we wanted it to be (they pushed it back a day because they were communicating through email and we missed the email by a day-Ashley was a Godsend and helped us to do the pick up the day before we needed it) and they might have not done such a terrible job with the design. Just picked up a cake I ordered for my nieces fifth birthday and I am so sad. When I ordered it they said this one tier cake serves 12 people. I'm attaching a picture so you can see the size and the scale. This was $110. And honestly we don't even care about the cost.
