This is a good group spot if you want something outdoors but I thought it was okay. I'm not really a beer drinker and the wine list for Paso was limited and the pours were small. Also, the menu wasn't that good though I'm glad they allow food from outside. I ended up ordering food from nearby and eating it there. Hands down one of the coolest outdoor patio type spots I have ever been to. As soon as I walked up really liked the vibe I was feeling especially with the music. Right away you can tell the people from this area are really nice and talkative. Ended up out of nowhere randomly talking to someone at a table for a few minutes. Told him where we are from and why we were in town told him my first trip to Paso and already love it well over Napa area. He appreciated the compliment from someone who's out of town and said it's good for his town. There is a ton of seating and people were even playing large Jenga which is very fun. While we already had food before coming here the food smelled really good. Really like the beer and wine selection here Austin Hope again which is awesome. I'm a big fan of SnapBack hats and ended up buying one to add to my collection awesome color combo. They also have shirts and glasses. A couple of the girls in my group ended up buying bottles of wine which shocked the server which his reaction was hilarious. Really nice friendly staff as well. Great atmosphere here! Stopped to get a quick bite at Roots on Railroad and they mentioned they had an assortment of beers and wine in the backyard so off we went. I ordered the fruit cider and my mom ordered a rosé. We sat down waiting to get our food and enjoyed the ambiance and decided to stay to enjoy the drinks and eat our dinner. I showed up at 7:31 with my buddy and they told us to kick rocks. Not the best first impressions.

It doesn't matter how beautiful a place may look, the employees complete the atmosphere. The Backyard was a perfect example of that. My friend and I were SO excited as we drove by this place because it looked so adorable and we pictured a good time. After grabbing a bite to eat we entered The Backyard excitingly only to be greeted with attitude by the girl running the cash register. My friend politely asked for a recommendation of beer and the girl just looked at us and asked for our preference and she asked a few questions and assumed my friend liked Mexican beer and then gave no answer to what they sold. We then proceeded to ask what she would recommend again and it was like pulling teeth with her. Other people passed by and she loudly and politely greeted them and then changed her attitude and jumped back in to our conversation. The only thing that The backyard had going for them was honestly their music and the rosé. The atmosphere was NOT inviting and we had such a better time at The Hatch were we were actually treated nicely. I don't understand how people like that can be placed as front of house when they obviously have a problem being nice. read more

I have no bad thing to say about the beer or the food. So I will give a five star. Everything was reasonably priced. The food part is separate from the drinks but both were so helpful and friendly. Service was on point. I was able to get a taste of a drink before I committed to a glass. It was nice to buy a new brew or cider and not be disappointed with my choice. A cool vibe and a fantastic concept for Paso. We have been here a couple of times already and each time it is lively and fun. I love that this beer/wine garden is open and has different ways of dining and enjoying the space. You can sit facing the road to do a little people watching or take one of the cabana's and it is more intimate. The food place on-site serves some great little to-go meals that are filling and favorable. I highly recommend making a stop in here when you come. read more

Space is fun and welcoming. Separate buildings for ordering food and drinks. We thought as we sat that the food booth should be faced inward toward the seating area. However maybe that is so they get a larger street profile for food orders from passers by. It felt very separate to us. Anyway the line for alcohol moved pretty slow, but a new business and it's sunny outdoors so don't really care, just mentioning so people know if it's a pretty sunny afternoon- you may wait a bit to quench your thirst. The food looked good, we only had one small item but plan on returning Friday for burgers with the family. They looked very good. Our drinks were great we had sour beers and they were good but warmed up fast in the sun. We played cornhole which is on a small dirt area near a rail of seating. Little babies kept taking our bean bags off the board. They really want to play! There is a small play area for kids with some equipment to play on. In the back I saw a couch and a some chairs like you would see at a backyard picnic. Our food was beautiful and tasty. The pricing is on point I'd say for the area however some have said on their reviews it's expensive for small portions. For me, I'll go to show friends from out of town, or to have a drink occasionally It will be a special go to spot to show off the coolness of our town. Parking was a challenge and that is another deterrent about heading there more often. But love the concept for sure and I wish them great success! Update because now I ate the food. Lobster Mac and Cheese is awesome. So much lobster! Burger fell apart a bit bit great flavor the 8 0 Fries have to be tried for sure and lobster roll was good but I expected warm and it was cold, including the roll. They just opened so it might take some time to work out of the food. But two grown men that like to eat spent $40 and left hungry. We both had the burgers. The ground meat combination is good, but it has America cheese. I don't get the roasted tomato on the burger, it doesn't add much and the flavor it does add is out of place. The $5 fries are nothing special and it's a small portion. I hope they are not fresh cut because they seem frozen. The space is interesting. It's not really like a backyard feel. It seems more like an industrial beer garden centered around drinking and being social, and less about the food. The menu is so small that everything should be impressive and it's not. They have a really nice outdoor beer garden here! You can order at the counter or from your table, and they bring the food to you. Beer and wine can be ordered from the counter in the back. They have lots of local beers on tap and also lots of local wines by the glass or bottle. They're nice about it letting you sample before you make a decision. Food: - Tri tip Cobb: standard Cobb salad with their house tri tip chopped up - Breakfast burrito with tri tip: a huge portion filled with eggs, a hash brown, and tri tip - Chicken sandwich: nicely fried chicken breast with a good sauce The tri tip itself wasn't amazing, but what you come here for is the setting and also the great service. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and they went out of their way to make it a great experience. They have lots of very clean bathrooms and a good hand washing station setup. Bonus: it's child friendly: they have a kids menu, a nice fenced in area with lots of shade / coverings, and a giant connect 4 type game. My toddler loved their grilled cheese! read more

This is a great outdoor space to meet up with friends for food and drinks. We were visiting with 5 other families (mix of young kids and a small dog), so It was really nice to have a find a unique space like this. We reserved the Lawn area for 2 hours. You can either reserve for a fee online or if the spot is not reserved, you can use it first come first serve. The fee covers clean up of the area. The lawn is a nice spot for kids since you can close the gate so your area feels private and fully enclosed. You can order drinks on site and if you are looking for food, you can also order food from Roots on Railroad from your phone and they bring it to your table. For both drinks & food, you can keep your tabs separate, so having people arrive and leave at different times works and you don't have the headache of splitting a group bill. Great ambiance! Why wouldn't drinking under the sun be a great idea?! Dog friendly is definitely a plus! I didn't get to bring my pups this time but I saw the other customer pups get free milk bones. They definitely know how to get their customers to come back, by making the spot their dogs' favorite! The beer was amazing. They have beers and ciders to tap. I got the pale ale, the most non-beer drinker beer there is but that's the only beer I like! It was crisp and refreshing. Noticed a food stall on site, thought nothing of it and moved along. Ordered a couple frosty local ipas to cleanse the gist of salty burritos my wife had made for the road trip. Love you! Nestled into a cabana streaming with misters and a freaking office fan, clutch I tell you. My 7 month old decided she was thirsty, real thirsty, thirsty for craft, MY CRAFT beer that is. To the ground it went and all over myself. Just then a gentleman walked by asking if everything was ok. He totes a delicious towering hamburger in hand while curious as to why I was so entangled in hoppy goodness all over my cargos. He asked if I would like a towel, then proceeded to bring me 5 brand spanking new towels along side a shiny, ice cold local ipa on the house. I was in aw, until he pulled out a key and grabbed 2 otter pops for both of my loud and obnoxious children to gnaw on in the glaring heat. This place just opened last week and so I know there are probably some things to work out since it's so new. They really advertised it as family friendly and that's what brought us here. At this point they offer a small option of food but not a specific kids menu. You can pay around $12 for a fried chicken sandwich with lettuce and slice of cheddar cheese and then the kids version is the same but without the lettuce. For a family of 5 and we had our littles split a bowl of Mac n cheese, we paid $56 and that was with no drinks. You order drinks at another station and then find a place to sit. They offer Cornhole and a small enclosed kids play area, fire pits, a small section of covered sitting. The location is great for downtown but parking will be an issue. The parking lot is tiny so there's street parking after that. Food was alright, BBQ sauce would have been a nice option for the chicken sandwich. The burger was a brisket, not ground beef but decent. Looks like in the summer it will be pretty cool, there's shaded areas to hide from the sun. I don't think I'll bring our kids back here but this os definitely a chill place to check out and grab a beer and people watch. It's a nice addition to Paso and the fact it's not another wine bar scores high on my list. read more

Driving through the town for work... Kind of basic, like they never left the frat house. I wouldn't expect too much from a city that wasn't social distancing or wearing masks tho. Beer was lukewarm and their selection was remnant of when IPA started becoming popular. Service was... wow. Actually no passion whatsoever... small town "we don't take to kindly to your kind" service, bought my beer and drank. Does the mother from bates motel own this place? That's what it felt like.
