During happy hour, I stopped by to celebrate my birthday. I was greeted immediately and I sat outside. It was peaceful and quiet. - I ordered the No-Paloma. It was so refreshing! In addition, the salted rim was spicy and a perfect contrast to the subtle sweetness of the beverage. It was served so beautifully! - Shout out to my server, Frankie. He was kind, respectful, polite, and genuinely interested in our conversation. What a great place!

Had a bunch of friends in town for weekend. Went wine tasting, then here for dinner. Food was fantastic. And our server Frankie was wonderful. So personable. Made it fun for our whole group. We loved the toasty warm environment and open kitchen area. A great spot for dinner and drinks with friends. Will be back again!

We are a little late to the party but so glad we made it, what a great meal and experience! We were able to enjoy a spot at the bar with Francisco, everything was delicious. Pretty sure the Brussels spouts will change your life, I'm still thinking about that dish. And the pork chop?? Exceptional! Thank you for a great evening, you will see us again.

An amazing meal was had here. A recommendation from a friend which did not disappoint. It was a little drive from Paso but not too bad. Service was great right from the start. Our table was ready so no waiting was needed. Basically everything on the menu looked amazing. Not sure how often the dishes changes but we were ready to try everything. That's the good thing about having friends who like to share everything. You get to samples pretty much everything. Started off with some of the cocktail, which were great. Bread and butter was hit with its honey whipped butter and focaccia bread. The baby gem Caesar, wedge style was nice. But I do recommend the cauliflower steak with the cheese sauce. Perfectly cooked and goes well with the sauce. Also the kimchi Brussels sprouts. Wouldn't think the two would match but it paired really well together. Main, the Wagyu beef burger, full of flavors and cooked to our liking and served with frites. We literally had almost everything on the menu. Pork was excellent with the sauce on top. Bronzino, flakey and juicy. Chicken and the brisket, both excellent. Not a dish was disliked. Everything was excellent which also contributed to a full belly so dessert wasn't consumed. Excellent service, amazing food and great atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Tequila sow'r

What a great find. I haven't had a meal this good since I left the Bay Area in December. We arrived shortly after 5:00 on a Tuesday and were seated immediately. Our server Frankie H offered us still or sparkling water and we chose one of each. I'm used to being charged for sparkling water, but not still. No where on the menu is it listed water was $8 and Frankie failed to mention it. I was dissapointed to find $16 worth of water on the bill. I am not yet familiar with Paso wines and was offered several tastes before I made my selections. I had a glass of Justin Rose and Straight out of Paso Zin. Both wines were execellent. My friend got the tequila sow'r which she enjoyed. We started off with the Bread and Butter which was outstanding. I would go back for this dish alone. Next we had the Market Salad. While it was delicious, I was a bit shocked when it was presented and there were literally 3 pieces of lettuce. I would recommend that they rename this dish. We ended with The Beef, which was thick cut fatty smoked brisket. While the dish was good needed to add salt and pepper to the meat, which we needed to ask for. Also, the menu didn't state that there would be a 2.99% operations fee. Surprise! Overall it was a good experience with a few dissapointments.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with a warm, genuine greeting from the host, who also turned out to be our waiter. The restaurant itself is small and quaint, yet still fun, lively, and full of great energy. Frankie provided absolutely amazing service, offering great recommendations and making us feel truly taken care of all night. We were celebrating birthdays, so everyone ordered something different, and every single dish was delicious. It's rare to find a restaurant that delivers exceptional food and backs it up with equally outstanding service, but Barley & Boar does exactly that. Thank you for a great evening! We'll definitely be back!

Daniel & Darcy are amazing!! The most phenomenal service in the central coast. They don't just provide warm hearted Service, they strive to connect with every guest and go above and beyond to make you feel like family while you dine. I'm a 3rd generation restaurateur and Let me tell you if you desire a warm hearted experience...skip the run of the mill restaurants in Atascadero and treat yourself to a meal at Batley & Boar.

Last night was the second visit my wife and I have made to Barley and Boar. We did my 30th birthday dinner here in December '23 after hearing lot of great word of mouth locally and enjoyed that visit so much that my wife wanted to do her 30th birthday dinner at B&B as well. Last night was consistent with our first visit. The service upon arriving was exceptional from the hostess, to our waiter, to the kitchen staff, and in between. The entire team here is super friendly and interactive. I highly recommend making reservations at the counter where you face the open kitchen and get a front row seat to watch the amazing group of chef's and sous-chef's that make all the dishes at B&B from scratch. Sitting here seriously makes me appreciate their craft with the attention to detail they display. Food wise, we started by sharing the Bread and Butter, the Steamed Clams, and both ordered "The Beef" after it was recommended by our waitress. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. When it came to the entree, the meat fell off the bone and the jus it came with was exceptional. The side of potatoes and fresh seasonal vegetables were also a great touch. Also ordered the 'Fit For a King' old fashioned that was part of their expansive spirits/wine/beer list. It was one of my favorites in the county. Special shout out to the kitchen staff for the incredible Amuse-bouche for the 2nd straight visit. This time it was a piece of tender steak with kimchi and habanero dressing. Second shout out to the staff for all the personal touches on our dinner. It meant a lot to my wife to have her 30th birthday recognized by your staff so sincerely and she absolutely raved about the chocolate mousse desert that had a strawberry chantilly cream & salted strawberry foam that you provided us with at the end. We seriously can't recommend this establishment more to locals and to celebrate a special occasion. Can't wait to go back in the future!

It's super family friendly, and our son loves the toddler play area. Our nieces also love the arcade games, so it's a great spot for kids and families. The beer is the best we've had in Atascadero, especially the west coast-style pale ales and IPAs like Atasca-where-o, Afraid of the Grade, Mouse Rock, and Hop Clarity. The staff has always been great, the indoor/outdoor space is awesome for groups, and having a full kitchen makes it even better. We even hosted a small lead-in gathering there the night before our son's 1st birthday party, and it was perfect. We're excited to keep coming back and becoming regulars.

This makes total sense knowing that the owners came from San Diego and both worked for PPBC. Being familiar with Wild Fields award-winning brews we settled for the flight and then added some food later. Being a West Coast IPA couple, we were not disappointed with their draft offerings. In addition to IPAs, they have a good representaion of other styles, so there will be something for everyone-as long as they like beer. Wild Fields also puts together a home-brew competion, fuly embracing their community and craft beer roots. The winner gets to brew a batch of their recipe on the house system and this ultra low alcohol, smoked wheat beer was one of the most unique beers I've had. For the food, we had pulled pork and loaded mac-n-cheese. Pulled pork was fine, but I'd prefer more smoke flavor and aroma. For loaded mac, the protein is polish sausage-not something I've seen before. While it somewhat works, I don't think I'd order this again. They also had a ticketed comedy show, which we stayed for after the official closing time on a Saturday. It was fun and totally worth it. With their strong local connections and family atmosphere, Wild Fields in Atascadero is worth the detour from SLO and Paso destinations, especially for families.

The biggest selling point to me is that people said on Yelp that the ciders are not too sweet, and that's EXACTLY the case. I'm so use to every cider I have always being really sweet, but these are not, just really good flavor. There are multiple ciders on tap, each one having their own backstory. You might think, cider is cider, are the flavors really that different? But each one comes from a different varietal blend of apples and they're also brewed using different methods. There's a menu that tells you about the apples of each one. Each one has a different alcohol content, and they have very unique flavors. I highly recommend getting a sampler flight, then getting a glass of your favorite one. Just be careful, some of them are pretty strong haha so uber or have a designated driver. I also want to add, the bartender was extremely friendly and loved talking about the ciders, and the entire room has a nice whimsical ambiance. The bar has an old-english pub feel to it, and there's a stage in the back of the room that I guess they do music performances on. We came later in the day and had just missed the music, the bartender said that they do a community jam every week where people just bring their instruments and jam out. Sounds really fun! Oh yea, I also forgot to mention as we were about to leave some locals came in and we were talking to them for a bit. Super nice people, this place definitely curates a really welcoming environment great for both locals and out of towners alike. And parking is super easy, it has its own lot, and there's also plenty of street parking because it's located in an industrial cul-de-sac.

On my first visit (evening), we walked in without a reservation and were quickly seated at the last available table. The place had a lively atmosphere, and it looked like part of the space turns into more of a dance floor later in the night. I had the French onion soup, raw oysters, and the pot pie, all of which were good. The pot pie in particular is something I would recommend. This most recent visit was for lunch on a weekday. There were plenty of open tables, and we were seated right away. Parking was easy, which is typical outside of busy weekends. The experience this time around was more mixed. We wanted to order oysters Rockefeller, but they were completely out of oysters, which was disappointing. I ordered a black and tan, which tasted fine, but it came with a design on top that I wasn't expecting. Not a big deal, just different from what I had in mind. For food, my girlfriend ordered the blackened salmon and said it was good. I went with the corned beef and cabbage. The corned beef itself was flavorful and served over mashed potatoes, which were well done. The cabbage, though, wasn't what I expected. Instead of a more traditional preparation, it was grilled with char marks and topped with au jus. The texture came out a bit rubbery and didn't really absorb the flavor well, which made that part of the dish underwhelming. Service was okay but not great. My water ran empty at one point, and I had to ask for a refill. We also ordered boneless wings as an appetizer and asked for extra ranch, which didn't come out until we reminded the server. The biggest issue, though, was something I noticed from our table with a partial view into the kitchen. An employee had their shoe up on a shelf that appeared to be holding clean dishes, which didn't come across as sanitary. I also saw food being adjusted on a plate by someone who didn't appear to be the cook. I can't speak to what's happening behind the scenes in terms of handwashing or procedures, but visually, it raised concerns. That part of the experience honestly left a bad impression. Between that, the missed items, and some inconsistencies with the food, it changed how I feel about coming back. My first visit had me excited to return, but after this one, I'm not sure I would.
