The food is still excellent, and the service is absolutely outstanding! This is my go-to spot whenever I get to choose. I especially love coming here for happy hour from 4-5 PM and again from 8 PM until close. And if you're lucky enough to get Luis as your server, you're in for an extra-special treat. His warm personality and Italian accent add the perfect touch to the experience and will make you feel like you've been transported straight to Italy! Definitely one of my favorite spots! read more

Came here for a bachelorette dinner and it was just what the doctor ordered!! Plenty of cocktails on the menu for everyone's tastes snd they came out absolutely gorgeous. Wish I could have tried them all, but my aperol spritz was perfect. We had made a reservation ahead of time for our large party (gratuity was included with the check) and were sat outside at the patio on the ground floor. The wait staff was fantastic, friendly, and respectful. Matched up well to the vibe of the place. There is a lot of options for food as well, with different pastas/sauce styles, pizza, and appetizers. We ordered a focaccia appetizer before we were aware that focaccia came free at the table, but no complaints from us!! The bread was delightful and all the dips were good as well. I got the nduja & gamberi pasta which cane with prawns and a red sauce over a pretty good portion of noodles. Demolished that and soaked up the extra sauce with the bread. Yum!! None of us saved room for dessert but the tiramisu looks good in photos. I think this was a fun, one-off thing for me since I live so far away now, but! UPDATE: Since posting my review, I have had multiple conversations with Hallie (communications personnel) and Ben, the General Manager at Cielo. Both were thoughtful, professional, and genuinely receptive to my concerns. At no point did I feel dismissed, argued with, or pressured to change my review. Instead, they listened carefully, communicated openly, and took the situation seriously. While the original interaction should never have happened, I was impressed by the level of accountability, kindness, and follow-through shown afterward. They treated both me and my friend with respect throughout the process and worked to repair what had become a very disappointing experience. I still stand by my original review of the incident itself, but I also believe good businesses should receive credit when they handle criticism with professionalism and integrity. Great service as usual at Cielo. I arrived about 45 minutes before closing after a long day--working 5 hours in Palmdale and then driving up from San Diego--so I was definitely a bit delirious by the time I sat down. Despite coming in late, the staff was welcoming and attentive. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sausage and broccolini gemelli was well executed. My only criticism is the use of burrata on the dish. Because it was placed directly on top of the hot pasta, it essentially cooked the burrata, which kind of misses the point of serving burrata in the first place. Rather than adding richness or contrast, it muted the flavors of the sausage and broccolini and made the dish taste a bit bland. I think a stronger cheese that holds up better to heat, such as Pecorino Romano, would have complemented the pasta much better. That said, the service was excellent and the pasta itself was cooked perfectly. Overall, a very good experience and I'd happily return. read more

We came in thinking we'd just grab a bite... and ended up talking about every single dish. My daughter and I stopped into Cielo Ristorante and Lounge tonight and decided to share a few things, which turned out to be the perfect move. We started with the meatballs and wedge salad--both were so good--and then followed it up with the rossa pasta with sun-dried tomatoes pesto and burrata. Every dish had layers of flavor--not just good, but the kind of "wait... what is that?" in the best way. Everything felt thoughtful, balanced, and really well put together. Sharing everything made it even more fun, and honestly, we left completely satisfied and already talking about coming back. Our server was the bartender, and he was very attentive, kind, well poised, and handled things very professionally. Happy hour cocktails a bonus. They also have a rooftop lounge which looks pretty sweet, but we did not venture up there today. I'm confused. The website says your rooftop is open S and S at 12 noon. The e-mail blasts you send out feature this as well. I came in on Saturday. It was 77 degrees and sunny and the hostess said the rooftop was closed. - This was the second time I was turned away on a Saturday. I'm really bummed because I am a local and I live in the Santa Lucia's. It takes me over ten's minutes to drive down the mountain and another 10 to drive back up. - I wrote an email to ask about the inconvenience and inconsistencies but I did not get a reply. read more

Tuesday we went to celebrate our daughter's birthday... we came in around 4:30 we were instantly greeted by Isaiah (who is an amazing bartender and server) We checked in for our 5:15 reservation but wanted to go into the bar for Happy Hour. The Happy Hour menu had a good selection for $7 a drink.... That being said the offerings on the regular menu were pretty amazing...so we tried the Espresso Martini, Cleme Brûlée Old Fashioned, Paper Plane, and the Black Walnut Manhattan.... beyond delicious.. we decided to have a starter with our cocktails and chose the Burrata Cloud wow so amazing ...he also brought us some fresh focaccia with oil herbs cheese and balsamic vinegar so delicious...we were seated at a booth at around 5:30. We ordered the Apple&Beet Salad which was delicious. The Chicken Pesto Pizza, The Figo Pizza and Chicken Parmesan. Everything was great... For dessert we tried the Classic Tiramisu, Chocolate Mousse and the Birthday girl got a free Gelato of her choice and a glass of Sparkling Wine. We also tried the dessert alcohol drink Leonardo Pistachio everything was great. Our server in the restaurant was Shay such a sweet and good server. Really nice to have such a nice restaurant in town... the decor is classic high back booths and tables..we're all looking forward to another visit to this great restaurant. So I am puzzled by the mix of positive and negative reviews here but this time I'm more negative than positive. On the positive side, we got a reservation last minute for 4 on Sunday night before we went to see Jim Gaffigan in Paso. Got seated quick and got drinks and appetizers that were great (calamari, 5 cheese Fonduta in bread bowl & espresso martinis). The server was pleasant and got things out pretty fast. Several groups got seated around us and it all seemed good. The entrées however were not great. The citrus pesto pasta dish was drowned in sauce and was too salty as well. My friend should've sent that one back. The Cielo insalata was bland. The beef and pork ragu was also bland. The only dish that was good was the chicken fettuccine Alfredo, although it was served with the chicken in large slices on top of the pasta in a bowl? It tasted fine once cut up and mixed together but was an odd way to present it. Want to love this place but its food quality and drink service at the rooftop are still too inconsistent. Will try again but not real soon. The owner keeps posting that they will work on it... can't keep using that excuse and taking peoples money for long. read more

The appetizer artichoke fonduta is amazing and definitely could be shared with 4 people. The drinks are unique and tasty. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Where I was disappointed was my main dish...I was super excited for the lobster risotto, saw other yelp photos with a full lobster tail, but then when mine arrived I had trouble even finding lobster. It was supplemented with shrimp, the lobster I found was chewy, and the broth had a (not super fresh) fishy flavor. Definitely a let down. Ended dinner with the Blueberry Lemon Cake, not bad, didn't notice as much lemon as I'd like. My husband had spaghetti and meatballs and enjoyed it. We've had other great food here, definitely coming back, just will be foregoing the risotto. read more

The only reason I gave it a 1 star is because there was no option to give it zero. Stopped in there tonight. Had an idea that it was going to be less than ideal when I walked in and the guy behind the cash register said, "I know it looks empty now, but it will be so crowded in a few minutes." The not so subtle message...because I was alone, just 1 customer, I needed to hurry up and eat so as to make room for other customers. I ordered, appetizer, salad, chicken parm. Talk about being rushed... When the chicken came it was hard as shoe leather. I had planned on getting a second glass of wine. NOT. I had planned on getting a dessert. NOT. Had an incredible dinner at Cielo Italian Restaurant in Paso Robles. The food was absolutely delicious. The pizza dough and tomato sauce was incredible, the chicken parmesana was very good too. Sarah was our server and she was absolutely amazing--welcoming, kind, and so knowledgeable about the menu and had a few recommendations. It's rare to find such a professional and warm server. Carson was also fantastic, super polite, and right on top of his tasks all night. The service here is top-notch, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Visited for dinner with family. We were a group of 6 so called ahead and secured a reservation to be seated indoor. Unfortunately, when we arrived we were informed that only outdoor tables were available. I noticed an empty table for 6 and asked to be seated there instead, which they accommodated as long as we finished dining in 1.5 hrs, which was plenty. Great ambiance inside with holiday decor. The servers were pleasant but were quite busy so forgot serving spoons and took some time to come by to check on us during the meal. As for the food -- the house made focaccia and the apple & beet salad were fantastic. We also ordered the artichoke fonduta, a margherita pizza, kids Mac n cheese, and the pesto pasta. All of these items were a bit under seasoned and could have used more salt. Also, we were told the pasta would have broccolini and asparagus but it had tomatoes and bell pepper instead, so we were a little disappointed as we would have ordered a different pasta had we known. Overall, it was a fine experience but we had some minor hiccups throughout the meal and it was a bit on the pricey side. read more

Well--I'm now thankful for that suggestion because the pizza at Corliss was A-MAY-ZEEENG. I had the balsamic, fig and let me tell you-- so delish. I went with the Lobster Risotto [$38, 4.5 stars] -- totally delish (enhanced with shrimp, too), but risotto was slightly overcooked and sticky. My wife and I gave Cielo's another shot and again , the service is decent ambience is nice, but the food ( the reason for the place) is just so-so . My wife had the lasagne with 12 layers or whatever and there was nothing between the layers and all the stuff just piled on top . Weird . Plus , my wife said not all the ingredients listed in menu were evident in the lasagne. My pasta carbonara had great flavor but way too much sauce as to be almost unedible- too much of a good thing ( cream) can be a bad thing . It's about balance . We were here for a long weekend, the food was flawless and delicious. Loved the gnocchi in the mushroom sauce. My husband had the seafood stew. His food was good but the shell fish was very small. The location in downtown Atascadero was convenient to the friends we were visiting and comfortable, although all the hard surfaces amplified the echos of the loud party behind us. But the food just isn't quite up to snuff. My pork chop was overcooked, and my friend's salmon was obviously as well. Mashed potatoes as the starch is a pretty cheap option for a restaurant like this. They could have at least added some garlic and herbs. Their sparkling wine selection leaves quite a bit to be desired, especially considering the fact that they're in the middle of the central coast wine country. Their selections were all sweet, and I'm certain there are dry options around. read more

When I first found out that Cielo was opening in Atascadero, I was so excited to finally be getting an authentic Italian restaurant in town! On top of their awesome rooftop bar, they have fantastic Italian food, great cocktails, and an amazing ambiance! I highly recommend the butternut squash tortellini, chicken fettuccine alfredo, and pappardelle all bolognese. They have a wide selection of specialty cocktails, as well as a full bar. Tried cielo again for the 3rd time! What a disappointment, drink was ok, bread was tasty. Had the lasagna and it is very disappointing. Small serving, top had burnt cheese that I couldn't even cut, had to peel it off! They covered it with sauce that was not very good. I'm a local but paying $24.00 for a 4inch square of burnt lasagna is a bit much! read more

This is our second time at this restaurant in the last two years and they do not disappoint. Ben is the manager and made sure we felt welcomed for our large party of 16. They recently opened up a rooftop bar that I highly recommend checking out. 21+ only. Apparently they rent out for large events, including weddings. We enjoyed a variety of dishes, including pizza, pasta, chicken, Parmesan, and eggplant Parmesan. Their desserts are a delicacy and I highly recommend their tiramisu. Single handedly the best Italian food in the area. Went there for a birthday dinner this time & it was perfect. The artichoke starter is hands down one of the best appetizers I've ever had. Will not go here without getting it. The two pizzas we ordered had gluten free crust and it tasted just as good as normal. They both had unique tastes but were perfect. I got the pesto pasta and it was to die for. Absolutely amazing, not too thick of sauce and has that pesto taste we all chase. Now the server... FANTASTIC. I blanked on her name but we went in on a Tuesday evening. She made sure we got a good seat and her energy was great, which makes the dining experience that much better. Couldn't have been better. I had a party of 20 for my rehearsal dinner the night before my wedding. This was the first time most of our family had met since my husband is originally from New York City. So, you can imagine the pressure is on for this dinner to be perfect. We were greeted like family the second we walked in, food arrived incredibly quickly, and everyone was sharing bites of food because it was impossible to only choose one entree. I was very excited to try this place out! Came here to celebrate a double birthday with friends. Decorations and ambience and peer reviews sounded great. When first entering the restaurant it wasn't quite that busy and multiple staff members were at the hostess stand. We were not met with a warm welcome whatsoever as our first impression and very little hospitality. We had a reservation and had arrived 5 minutes prior early. We had to wait about 15-20 minutes for our table and while waiting they took away the waiting area chairs as we sat on them. So far this much hasn't really effected us since we were hungry and still excited to try this place. We ordered multiple pastas and pizzas and a calamari for our large party. Unanimously, everyone's pasta was incredibly mushy and overcooked. I'm not that picky with pasta, never write bad reviews, and whenever I'm hungry everything tastes good. But this was just so incredibly disappointing. The seafood pasta and calamari's quality were just very below average. Chicken parm from my friend I tried...a mushy hot mess. Throughout the experience there was very little service and lack of friendliness with our groups time here. Would not recommend and will not be coming back. read more

The food was delicious and served professionally by Nina and the drinks by Kevin were the equal to or better than we've had in NYC.. It was a hot afternoon, so sitting in their dining area was a welcome repreve from the almost 100-degree temp outdoors. They have an outdoor, comfortable looking patio on the ground level, as well as rooftop seating where drinks and bites are served. The large, full bar appears well-stocked and inviting. For an appetizer, we chose the Burrata Cloud. The burrata cheese was presented over green heirloom tomatoes in a balsamic Italian dressing, served with focciata bread points. Burrata has a solid outer curd made from fresh mozzarella, which is formed into a hollow pouch, then filled with a soft, stringy curd and fresh cream. I visited my first time for lunch and was not disappointed. Luckily I caught their early Happy Hour from 12-1. I had their Manhattan while I surveyed the menu. Perfectly mixed, it was a great start to lunch. The staff brought out complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For my meal, I ordered their pomodoro and added sausage. The perfectly cooked al-dente pasta was covered in a rich tomato based sauce and topped with freshly grated parmesan. I enjoyed their house red wine (pinot noir), from Sea Sun Vineyard, paired perfectly. Service was prompt and very friendly. Calamari, bruschetta, Caesar salad: All were fine, but nothing special. Tried a variety of different pastas and the fig pizza. It was hard to pinpoint, but many of the pastas had a bit of a bitter aftertaste and all were heavily sauced. Surprisingly , the favorite was the lasagna. Would skip the Cielo meets Olio.
