Solid breakfast location beyond the hustle and bustle of Rehoboth and Dewey. The coffee is bottomless and free flowing, the service is full of smiles. My friend and I, pallets destroyed from a hard weekend at Dewey ordered The Dude; gravy, potatoes, sausage and eggs served open face on a tortilla (also come with cheese, which I skipped). Hearty and filling, it gave me life for the long drive of shame home. Stars docked for speed coming out of the kitchen (and dishes weren't but), but A-OK for sure, and we'll worth the deflection to avoid beach traffic! Good prices too. read more

Very uncomfortable atmosphere, changed my order to go after the server greeted me with "what do you want to eat?" while rolling their eyes and looking at the ceiling. When the order arrived I asked for the check and was told that I had to go to the register to pay, which I thought was odd given every other table was given a check... I did not try the food, given I lost my appetite. Hopefully in the near future this establishment is more open minded, yikes! read more

Ordered two salads ... house with shrimp and a "build your own" with shrimp. Simply outstanding. The ingredients were fresh and appealing, the dressings (sriracha ranch and regular ranch) tasted homemade and the shrimp was perfectly grilled and delicious. Really hit the spot! read more

We're "semi-regulars" here and this restaurant has been consistent in its quality. Of note - every single time we go here with our grandkids - the kids menu items always arrive after the adult meals - sometimes a number of minutes later - just surprising the kitchen doesn't recognize this as a "need to improve"! Amazing little place to grab some delicious breakfast. They have everything you need for breakfast. The simple eggs and bacon or a monster breakfast burrito. Very clean and the decor is very pretty. I had been here with friends a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed the build your own salad. I eat a whole food plant based no oil diet and this satisfied my requirements to a T! My husband and I came back and I got the same thing. He ordered what he thought was going to be a piece of salmon and a salad. He had ordered the Phat Brain. He was disappointed that it was a smaller salad and some smoked salmon on top. The black beans and rice was good. The service left quite a bit to be desired. There was some carryout going on and one other table when we came in. As often happens, when a restaurant is less busy, the service is often slack. read more

Everything I've tried has been amazing! Service is great! The restaurant has a nice ambiance and it's very clean.

We have mixed feelings about the Restaurant. 1st, go in thinking service is not the best. I watched our waitress with her head in her cell phone while i tried rationing my soda so i wouldn't run out while eating; however, she managed to skip coming by through the entire meal & I could not finish because i was so thirsty and gave up. What attracted us as out of Town visitors was the interesting menu. Excellent flavors to the food, despite a few options not available that evening which would have been nice to know before deciding in those items. Go Shorty, the short rib dinner was flavorful, however lacked enough vegetables and the 2 chunks of meat were little tougher than I've experienced at other establishments and 1 section was 1/2 fat. Portion of gouda grits was small, but a dense and flavorful addition. The Chicken Gouda Mac was very flavorful, enjoyed immensely, however same comment as no vegetables which it needed and best to add a larger piece of chicken rather than 80% mac. We probably would return after trying other options in town first, but we do want to try the sandwich options as they sounded interesting and observed other tables food choices, but would be aware of the short comings with staff. read more

This place has been around for some time and still brings folks in for good food. They have an interesting menu that appeals to local tastes and yet is not just the notorious bland. Even during lunch rush, service is prompt and friendly. My most recent lunch had the Garlic Beef sandwich that was extremely flavorful; French fries, when certainly not the traditional fast food version, might have been a tad limp and my only nit. Macaroni & cheese was, ok. I'm only sorry we were too full to not have room for what looked like great chocolate cake & bread pudding. Cookies to go are a must! read more

The chocolate croissants are money. Run to get them. And so are their regular cinnamon rolls. Absolutely delicious warmed up with a cup of milk. I had two meals from here, one take out and one dine-in. The take out consisted of their baked goods and they are absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. The dine in experience was pleasant as well. I had a chai latte which was okay- I could make the same at home. Our table got a variety of things from egg sandwiches, to omelettes to pancakes and French toast. The plates that stood out were the omelettes/potatoes and the Nutella French toast. So yummy and fresh. The decor in here is very light and airy. Try it out! read more

Tried this place out for the first time because of a good review I read...that was not my experience. When my party of 4 walked in the door we stood for 10 minutes waiting to be greeted and added to the wait list. We eventually had to flag down someone to ask about getting our name written down. This was also the experience of several other parties that came in around the same time. We were told 15 minutes but waited 30. There was also parties that came in after us that were sat before us because there was no thought out into how they were seating people and then they couldn't accommodate our group of four with a wheelchair. Lots of other places to spend our money. We will not be back. read more

So grateful to have this gem just a couple miles away. The breakfasts are amazing (which came first, omelettes with goat cheese), and lunch/dinner options are equally as good. First time here. From the outside you are thinking this is going to be a crummy old country luncheonette. The sign above the the place only says RESTAURANT, with no other sign. Then inside the place is adorable. Very clean. Open and bright. Excellent bakery and breakfast. Very reasonable. My waitress was soooo friendly and nice. Tuna Nachos were HEAVEN, my build my own creation was perfect, and my Mom's salad was gorgeous and filling. 4. Dessert was so good that I'm tempted to go back tomorrow. The best key lime pie I've had in a while! And my son's mint chocolate chip cookie was crazy good! I'm using too many exclamation points but it was that good... lol. 5. The service was excellent. My wife and I tried The Backyard for the first time today, and we had a fantastic lunch. The soup-of-the-day was shrimp and crab bisque, which we both ordered. The soup was loaded with seafood, all cooked just right -- not mushy, nor rubbery. And the soup's liquid base was so creamy and well-seasoned that it could have been served just by itself and would still have been wonderful. My wife loves sweet and spicy flavors, so she ordered the Thai Chicken, which came with pita, rice, and a fresh vegetable. She really loved the chicken, but there was so much she could only manage half the meal, and she thought that the rice had a great flavor. I ordered the Gouda Mac, which was a grilled chicken breast served over mac and cheese with smoked Gouda, bacon, and spinach. Again, it was a generous portion, but although I thought I'd have to bring some home it was so good that I just kept going until it was all gone. It was absolutely delicious, and a sort of indulgence dish because it was so rich. The other component that made the meal so good is the service. Everyone was pleasant and efficient. We are about 30 minutes away, but we will definitely be back to this little restaurant that produces such great flavors. read more
