First of all an apology for taking so long to get with one of the best places to eat around . We moved down a couple years back oct 24 and finally made it TBD. A lovely greeting on entrance. My wife and I used to work at an iconic eatery in phila called Taylor's country store and both of us looked at each other and said we get the same vibes. The decorations were just what you'd hope for in an eclectic little restaurant. Located on the edge of the villas maybe 15 mins from wildwood and cape May if you're visiting down the beach or shore don't sleep on this place. Now for the food we were looking for lunch we have our go to spots but wanted to change it up and I'm so glad my wife chose TBD. Has a great menu with something for everyone. I got a hot roast beef because it's one of my favorites. Side of fries hand cut. First the sandwich was everything I had hoped for I go a couple Roast beef sand places but this has shot to the top. Gravy on the side is how it came and it was just what the sand was meant for ciabatta roll soaked it up perfectly, no prob I'm not a fan of the disintegrating gravy sand I like to control the gravy. Roast beef was thick but not out of control thick, didn't need sharks teeth to bite through it. And not any gristle which definitely mattersHorseradish on the side a little bite not your make your nose run hot but hot enough. Hand cut fries delicious crispy hot and a perfect pairing to dip in the gravy. The pickle was exactly how you want a deli pickle to be crunchy fresh and sharp flavored w real dill I will say it again perfect . My wife had the burger it was huge tasty I know because I had half the right amount of everything. She chose the fresh homemade chips they were marvelous too I know because I grudgingly gave up a few fries to have some chips. It was big enough she said she would be skipping dinner. Anyway it's the kind of place you leave saying I can't wait to go back and try the other choices because you know they will all be made with culinary care and taste great. Don't step nod or miss this place. Being on weight watchers I know I'm gonna regret finding it, but you shouldn't it's on rt 47 the sign w the two black dogs sorry no pics of the food but I was hungry and scarfed it down before thinking read more

Stopped by while driving to the Villas. This is a local spot on the side of the road. Inside, it's a reasonably simple sit-down space. There weren't many people sitting down to grab dinner on a Saturday night. We did notice there were several people stopping by to pick up their delivery orders. They all seemed to be locals. There are several cats laying around outside. I stopped by and ordered the shrimp po'boy since they ran out of oysters. They said the order will be ready in 45 minutes, which is a bit long for rush hour (dinner service) on a Saturday night. The waiter mentioned there were 2 orders in front of me. That says a lot. Not a lot of kitchen staff basically. Maybe it's a one man show inside. They actually were done within 30 minutes. The food came out fine. It was filling. Nothing mind blowing. The shrimp was fine. The fries were delicious. Maybe the sandwich seemed dry. Price wise - it was reasonable. They only take cash so make sure you have cash handy. Would this be my go to spot? Hard to say because it takes a while, but it's okay if you plan ahead. read more

This is a little roadside joint in a converted old house. We went at lunch and it was worth the try. The place was almost empty, and the server seated us quickly. He could have been a little more attentive, drinks ran out without refill. Not bad ... just not particularly fast or thorough. The roast beef sandwich is good. Plenty of beef. Great bread! Tasty au jus. The fries are handmade. My wife really liked them - I would have preferred a little crispier. So, if you like homemade fries, you'll love them. Prices are very fair. Which is good, because they don't take credit cards so you'll have to use their ATM if you forget cash. It's a good spot and worth a try. read more

Our favorite Mom and Pop restaurant! Great menu with delicious lunch and dinner choices! Fast, friendly service and reasonable prices too!

It is cash only - was not advised till the bill arrived. There was a small sign at the cash register. The server/hostess was friendly but the place needs a good cleaning. The food took forever - almost 50 minutes from when the appetizer was finished and the 3 sandwiches arrived. The server came over twice to tell us "it's almost ready" The food was burnt - dry - overall not great. No one in our group enjoyed it. read more

The food was amazing! Staff was super kind especially with our friend with a bajillion food issues. The place is cute and I would definitely go back. read more

Tried it for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Everything we ordered really hit it out of the park for us. We started our meal with some soups and these soups were so hearty! The clam chowder might be one of my favorite clam chowders ever. These soups could be entire meals on their own, after finishing these, we were already pretty full before even receiving our entrees. The entrees were pretty decent too I'll add. Loved the Cuban and the mac and cheese. The mac and cheese dish had some sausage and some jalapeno that added some really good spice to it. The favorite dish was still the soup! The restaurant itself is a little small and intimate. They could probably use a little more seating. It wasn't much of an issue coming here during the off season, but I could see it being one during the summer months. Other than that, I think you'll have a good time coming to this place. read more

Our party of 5 stopped in for a quick lunch and we were not disappointed. This place "slaps" as the kids would say these days ... I highly recommend the turkey club and/or cheesesteak. both were top tier *BYOB* was a huge bonus. The air conditioning was nonexistent and made things a bit uncomfortable... my only real complaint honestly. read more

A solid 4 star meal. A small local restaurant servicing up quick lunches. The sandwiches lean on the saltier side, but its a no frills place to grab a reasonably priced bite before you hit the beach. I would definitely recommend the oyster po boy over the cheesesteak. The service was fast and the boy working the counter was attentive. Interior decoration was an eclectic collection of local trinkets that was fun to browse during our meal. Potato chips were the best! read more

I'd give this place 10 stars if I could! The restaurant has a lot of character including the family who owns it. It looks to be in an older house with antiques and flowers spread throughout. They have a few cats outside that they feed. They like to snuggle up to your vehicle, so please be careful when leaving. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in the door. They have a pretty good menu with different options. They offer bottled beverages. I ordered the cheeseburger with fries for my dinner. I was not disappointed. The burger was huge and delicious. As soon as I bit into it I could tell just how juicy it was. I like my burgers cooked well done and usually am served an over cooked dry burger, but here that wasn't the case. Best burger I've had in a long while. The fries were good as well. Freshly cut and cooked perfectly. We ordered the freshly made cheesecake to go and it was amazingly superb. The chef came out and asked us how everything was and mentioned that the cheesecake was made from scratch. This is a family owned establishment and they just happened to have their granddaughter Natalie there. She made our time there extra special. She was only 4 years old, but she was full of spunk and entertained us throughout our time there. We played games with her and she made sure that we smelled every single flower there. By the time we left we had made a friend and she even helped serve us. She was the perfect little helper! She definitely made our time there memorable. I highly suggest giving this hidden gem a try. You will not be disappointed! read more

Asked for medium well got medium raw. I sent it back after I told the server I'm not going to eat this. He made some lame excuse about cook might thought med rare. Never saw this or another burger come back. I eat my fries wife finished her lunch we go to pay and he the counter kid / server tries to charge me for it. I said I'm not paying for something I didn't eat. Kid said he'll have to ask the cook. Cook comes out and said I didn't ask for it to be recooked. I said, I sent it back it's implied. He explains at a restaurant I'm to ask for it to be recooked. And his job is to make me happy and to recook it. I repeated I sent it back and why I sent it back and if wants to make me happy, then remove it from my bill. I've heard good things of this place but the ones giving the good reviews are either delusional or friends and family. read more

I own a small business too so understand how hard it is to keep up with all the things that need to be done. I get if things are not as clean as they could be or when there's not fresh paint where there should be. I don't get when customers are treated poorly though. There's no excuse. We ordered takeout an hour before closing on the Wednesday night and were greeted as if we were totally imposing on them. On top of this, food was just okay and the outdoor tables we thought we'd sit at were just too dirty. Cute-ish place with cats and veggie garden. Don't think we'll go back though. read more

We went here based on all of the great reviews and we were not disappointed. The married couple that runs the establishment was so kind and honestly the hamburger that we had was one of the best burgers that I have had in a long time. I also loved the homemade chips with those giant chunks of sea salt! We can't wait to go back. If you are in the area I highly suggest that you check this place out. read more

Yes, yes, yes! This place had been on my list to try and I'm so glad we did! We ordered the fried chicken sandwich and a grilled chicken/bacon sandwich and an order of their Mac and cheese. Everything was made to order. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. We also took dessert to go based on the recommendation of the delightful young man at the counter. The pie was excellent. We will absolutely return! read more

I wouldn't say don't go there, because everyone's taste are different as in the food and ambiance. The things that turned me off were that you had to pay for water, the menu really did not appeal to me, so I just went with the Caesar salad, and the other two with me got sandwiches. It took a long time to get our food, and they weren't busy, there were only 2 other people in there. The lady that took our order and brought the food was very attentive....for me, that was the only positive, so for that reason can only give one star read more

This is one of the area's hidden gems that doesn't deserve to be hidden. I honestly think that this place has some of the best burgers in town. Their home made chips are excellent and my wife loves the macaroni and cheese. The prices here are reasonable and we have never been disappointed with any of our visits. The service is always extremely friendly and accommodating. This is an excellent place and seems quite popular for take out, even though we always just dine in. The only change I wish they would make is to get fountain drinks, but that's a small thing compared to how good their food is. read more

Just had a really, really fantastic burger here - perfect flattop crust, crispy bacon, fresh potato chips AND the best tasting homemade pickle I've ever had in my life! The owner's a really nice guy who took the time out to chat with us about his past restaurants and the Cape May area. You can tell everything's made fresh and with care. Take out might take some time as the owner's a one man show, but the food is easily worth it. Outstanding! read more

Different cheesesteak #988 in the last four years. Guest eaters oldest daughter Jordan hosting Amigo Dan and his Posse. This was the highest scoring cheesesteak on a night of 4 cheesesteaks. This cheesesteak was a few slices of cheese away from being a top dog. The roll may need an upgrade or may be a little toasting. The meat was very good. I am a big fan of thicker slice and less chopping of quality meat. The fried onions and mushrooms were big and added a big flavor. Watching the video I was shocked at close this cheesesteak is to greatness and how little the posse fussed over it. read more

Yummy food. Relaxed atmosphere. Don't drive by. The fish and chips melt in your mouth. The deluxe grilled cheese will ruin it for any other restaurant....DELISH!!! read more

Really odd experience. We walked in to get takeout this past Friday. The guy hostess person gave us menus and as we were looking I go, "how long do you think it will take?" He goes "40 minutes." We're like, "really that long?" He's like, "yeah 20 minutes for the couple sitting down and 20 mins for you guys." I scratched my head, said, "ok thanks but sorry that seems like a long time to wait," and walked out. That couple was the only other people there. Didn't understand how that made any sense. Just like how the Egyptian pyramids were made, I'll live the rest of my life trying to figure that out. read more

I ordered two things and they charged more then what it is on the menu and I drove away in my way home I checked the one order and it was not right so I went back and told the owners wife that i ordered it without this and she was going To just take it off and I'm allergic to it so I told her to just give me a refund cause I can't wait another 30 minutes for it o cook and she said to me that I wanted to fight ?! Gave me a refund and didn't even give me all my money back and then proceeds to yell at me and say that there are different dishes with I ordered I ordered the platter and she charged 2 dollars more , to be yelled at after I had to go back cause they did the order wrong then for her to say do I want to fight all I wanted was a plain chicken sandwich for 15 dollars, will make my own , will not go back and will not recommend either , there was only a small piece of chicken on the sandwich not even a full piece of chicken . read more

Closed Tuesdays. This is a BYOB. What a great surprise to see Two Black Dogs had opened up in Green Creek, on the way to Cape May! They have English pub fare, like bangers & mash, but also American classics! "Transcontinental Tavern," I'd call it! My pastrami Reuben was absolutely delicious! Really high quality pastrami, good cheese, perfect sauce, every bite was exactly right! It came with handcut fries or handcut potato chips. My fries were excellent! It also came with gratuitous pickle... if I'm going to get picky, I'd say with all the places I've recently eaten who make their own pickles, this one could've been a lot better. An artisan pickle would certainly crown this otherwise regal dish, but if I have to settle for a standard pickle, the sandwich and fries are still 5 stars!!! Cuban, too, was perfect! I saw the chef, Bill Haines, spent time in Key West, so I'm sure this schooled him in the Cuban he's added to his bag o' culinary tricks. It's excellent! Savory meats, flavorful cheese, just the right mustard. Among the best of KW, per my visit a couple years ago. Absolutely will be back, and soon! Can't wait to try more!!! read more

I was very pleased and they met my expectations for a small business. The quaint location, alert staff, and DELICIOUS fare was well worth leaving the beaten path on a dreary Saturday afternoon. I had a grilled cheese sandwich that had a perfect blend of pungent cheeses, without being overpowering. I got bacon on it, but it was hardly necessary with the other toppings really showing out. The bread was perfectly toasted and you could tell the fries were hand cut and fries fresh. It's so refreshing to see when a local establishment gets it right. If I'm ever in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to visit. They also get extra points for having the restaurant name being an ode to 2 beautiful black labradors. read more

Cheesesteak was OK. Fries were soggy. Decent service. Kinda out of the way though. Wish it was much further south.

Make sure you put this gem on your "to eat" list!! Everything is scratch and you can taste the love! I had the southern fried chicken sandwich- breaded and fried chicken, pickles, roasted red pepper hummus and spring mix on a ciabatta roll. My friend has the hot roast beef with Swiss and a side of horseradish and au jus. Both came with homemade chips. The kids had chicken fingers and French fries and fried shrimp and French fries. The fingers were the same delicious chicken that was in the sandwich. The shrimp were huge! Both "kids" meals were very generous. Plenty for a hungry parent to sample!! Do yourself a favor and stop by for some food to eat in or take-out. You're welcome read more

We have always wanted to try this place - has great reviews and we sure weren't disappointed! Started with the poutine - excellent and maybe a bit too filling. I ordered the cheesesteak with fries - both great and delicious! My wife ordered the fish & chips which she said was great as well. We arrived early and were surprised to find we were the only patrons in the place - it has a smaller dining area, but was tastefully decorated and a had a cozy vibe. Service was good and food was served hot straight from the kitchen. We were a bit full from the poutine and entrees and did not order dessert - maybe next time. Will definitely stop by again! read more

Excellent food and excellent service! My family was full and entertained for sure. My husband said it was the best fish and chips he's ever had. My Reuben was delicious with fresh fries. My daughter's Mac and cheese was delicious, probably best we've ever had! My son had a cheeseburger that was perfect! And the corn chowder that we all shared was amazing! A much longer and more detailed review will hopefully be coming from me as soon as time and sobriety permit, but I did not want to waste any time in telling you to try Two Black Dogs Cafe. Whether you dine in or get take out, if you have any appreciation for really good food you will be glad you did it at Two Black Dogs. Like I said, there is more to come, but I wanted to leave you now with this. I have been to London about a dozen times. Every time I went I had fish and chips at a different establishment. I have never had fish as good as the fish they serve in their fish and chips anywhere in London, or anyplace else I have had it. Everything else was great too. More to come. read more

We dropped in at this little Ma and Pa located inside a renovated church in search of a table for 8. Our family outing on this lazy, June Monday afternoon consisted of a variety of age groups ranging from 7yrs to 81. We were greeted warmly by the chef and were encouraged to push tables together to accommodate our party. With 'Pa' in the kitchen cooking, that left 'Ma' to attend to the diners as a couple of smaller tables came in behind us. With a good amount of homemade selections (including desserts) on the menu, we made our choices and were served in a reasonable amount of time for a large party. Plus *bonus* our server dropped off some quizzo style games to help pass the time - a nice touch! Food was super delicious and came in generous portions. We took home what we couldn't finish and will definitely return for another go! read more
