I got a breakfast item (scrapple, egg and cheese on a long roll w/breakfast potatoes $13). Asked for extra cheese, $1 more. Delicious! . Girlfriend went for scallops. Market Price was $25 for about ten of them (she did in and ate a few before I could snap a photo, so I didn't even try. I'm not a seafood person, so I'm not a good judge for price/quality. She loved them and thought it was a fair price. She thought they were great. . Great spot known to those that know, for great seafood. On the recommendation of a friend who lives in the area, we found this gem of a restaurant it just has a rectangular bar with servers and bartenders in the center and the most phenomenal seafood I've had in a long time so welcoming I would guess there's only 25 seats here and everybody seem to be enjoying themselves so much the quality of the food and service was top-notch. Highly recommended. My wife and I had seafood specials. I had the twin lobster tails with the scallops, she had the lobster tail, scallops, and shrimp with brown butter scallops and shrimp are served in was so delicious. This is a cool dive bar with good food. We visited during Irish Weekend in Wildwood. Needless to say, we were seeking an evening snack after imbibing all day. I love that their menu is seafood-forward. We split the Crab Caprese Salad, a couple of "eggrolls", and for my entree, I ordered the Blue Mussels (red sauce with blue cheese). This sounds bizarre (cheese with seafood?) but it was delicious. The flavors complemented each other beautifully. I couldn't get enough, and I would order this again and again. My fellow diners enjoyed their burgers, crab legs, and other tasty bites. I love the little outdoor patio area. It was a gorgeous evening, and we were pleased to be seated outside. They had live entertainment that evening, which may be a regular occurrence, or it could have been due to Irish Weekend. This is a true locals place, but they were friendly nevertheless. I started going to the West Side Saloon in July, 2025. The waitresses were nice and the young man behind the bar couldn't be nicer. I actually recommended the saloon to several people and brought about 8 different people with me to enjoy the great seafood. On a Sunday Morning, August 31st, I brought a friend of mine to the saloon as I heard the breakfast was good. We were the only ones at the bar. The bartender/waiter was someone I never saw before. He couldn't have been ruder. I brought in mushroom coffee w/me as I can't drink regular coffee for health reasons. He grabbed my cup, and put it in a coffee mug and dumped some out. He was very abrasive. He looked as though he just rolled out of bed and had toothpaste hanging off his bottom lip. Gross! We ate and left him a decent tip. That same week I brought another friend. Unfortunately, he was behind the bar again. He threw the menus our way. We asked him to give up separate checks. He said he would...then 10 m minutes he came over and said he wouldn't give us separate checks. In the meantime he proceeded to throw beer bottles in the trash can. It was SO loud and obnoxious. The young man at the bar brought our food and respected our request for separate checks. He got our tips as he was respectable and courteous. Last Friday, I brought my sister and her friend..both had never been there before. Once again, much to my dismay, we had this idiot again. He blatantly threw our menus at us. My sister was like..what is his problem. He took our order..rude as usual! When he brought the $238.00 check..I questioned a $4.00 charge. I do not drink club soda..he got a major attitude and said he had to charge me more for extra grapefruit juice..then started, almost yelling about the day 2 weeks prior I brought my cup in. If he is treating me like this...you better believe he has treated other customers like this too. I told the gentleman who was standing in front of the saloon as to how ignorant and rude he is. He said he would discuss it with management..just as I got done speaking..the ignorant waiter came by and said my name is Scott. Then the owner was actually laughing and made some kind of non-funny joke saying "that's not his real name." As a business owner for many years..if this clown was working for me..he wouldn't be. I suppose at the end of the Summer...businesses at the shore are desperate for help. Scott or whatever his name is.. is a perfect example! I won't be back and will continue to tell people about my unpleasant experience! BTW..go over your check and make sure you are not being overcharged. read more

We were able to get a table right away even though they were very busy. The outside patio really increased capacity. It's made of all stone with wooden tables painted white which makes it look nice and clean. The waitress came over right away and took our order. The scallops were done just right and we ordered a Jersey Tomato Tower. It was amazing! I never had one before. The presentation and taste were perfect. This place is a local spot with majority locals. I'm not local and everyone stared at me as soon as I walked in the door haha. The food is excellent though and makes any uncomfortability worth it. "When you get a chance", (a/k/a Bill), and Angelina were our bartenders. They were entertaining and simpatico. There were seven of us and we got the last seats at the bar. The place was full it was about 215pm on a Friday. It is a family run biz. Specializing in an orange crush a mixture of fresh orange juice mandarin vodka and club soda. Apparently the latest craze in this neck of the woods. We drank beer and some rum drinks and ordered food. The plate of mussels I had was wonderful prepared with a light white sauce. The kitchen is steps away from the bar area and the aromas of the various dishes was quite pleasant. The place is a small triangular shaped building in West Wildwood. We were informed by a few of the regulars that it is known as a hidden gem on the island. We typically hang around the Crest and the south end of the island. A very nice vibe. Had the crab cake grilled cheese (no filler & top notch!) and fries and the shrimp, scallops and lobster with asparagus platter. (Hands down, best seafood on the island!)They are know for the Orange crush drink but we had the Scarlett, and it was awesome! (Vanilla vodka, Malabo, con nut rum, pineapple and cranberry.) First time visitor this summer that has long time visitor aspirations. Three of us came here per my buddy who was raving about the food and drinks - in particular the freshly squeezed infamous Orange Crush. A few things to know about WSS. It is a ways from the boardwalk and is kinda just off on its own. In fact, it's not even in Wildwood - it's in West Wildwood, which I never knew existed but here we found ourselves on a warm, summer night. The location is important because the drinks are strong and will sneak up on you so ride share your butt over and enjoy yourself! It's also a bit tight inside the bar with just a few tables scattered about and outside - not great for a large group but great for four or less. In addition to crushing some crushes, we ordered 20 steamers, Jersey crab cake sandwich, and a fried green tomato tower w/lobster, caprese and balsamic - a local favorite. All of the food was exceptional. We agreed that we would 100% return. After all, WSS fits right in with menus that I want to work my way through. read more

Awesome spot in wildwood. Really solid seafood. The bar itself is very small. Only a bar and no seating outside of it. The bartenders are great and all their drinks are made with fresh squeezed fruit. About 1/5 of the bar is filled with fruit. For food. Really good stuff. They are known for their lobster Reuben. My friend got that and said it was awesome. I got two specials. The crab nachos (awesome) and a combo platter that included: lobster tail, shrimp, scallops and crab cakes. I almost didn't want to write this review because it's one of my hidden gems. But I'd be doing a disservice to this great spot. read more

CHECK YOUR BILLS FOLKS. . . . . I went for the first time on Sat night heard great things about it from friends. it was crowded but my friend and I got a seat at the bar after another couple left. We ordered 20 claims for $13.00 as listed in the menu. The gentlemen next to us had them and they looked delicious. An hour later we got our clams from the bartender/waiter. We ordered the scallops and shrimp and crab cakes and the bartender said we get fries or asparagus with our dinners. So he picked Asparagus and I picked fries figuring we could share. Everything is marked MP - Market price which is fine but even the specials on the board didn't have the prices on them. When we ordered our dinners the young gentlemen didn't even give us the price of each dinner. I was okay with that and we enjoyed our dinners. We received our bill and my friend noticed they charged us $17.00 for the steamers which were supposed to be $13.00. The bartender fixed that and then gave us a new bill and I then noticed we were charged $4.00 for the asparagus I then said something to the bartender who waited on us and said the asparagus and fries come with our dinners. At that point, the bartender was talking to the owner whispering at the cash register and then he came over to us and said market price. I said no, you told us asparagus and/or fries come with each dinner He said asparagus was extra and I told him nobody told us that. I was so upset and wasn't loud but very nice and the owner came over complaining about the price of food, etc. and I told him I understand but you can't upcharge people without telling them. I got up and walked out and my friend said the owner was pacing back and forth and told him don't bring her back in here again. ARE YOU KIDDING ME.. I have never been kicked out of a restaurant.. Imagine how many of you don't even look at your bills. Never going back again. I will tell my friends not to go back either. Never treated so badly at a restaurant before. read more

Ordered drinks..the long island tasted like watered down coke. Finally had to ask the bartender how to order food. He handed us menus. i never met a dive bar i didnt like. west side saloon is that hole in the wall, with an extensive menu that everyone will love. i was in shock by the reviews, really come on how does this shitbox have such great reviews? This place will get packed, so trying to grab the servers attention is hard. however, its worth the wait. the drinks to the fries to the dishes themselves, were all very good. also, the prices are very modestly priced. i would come back in a heart beat to try more seafood, specifically their clams in garlic sauce. i was at the bar trying to order a drink, and practically had my face in a womans dish because it smelled so good! The crab cake sandwhich is a must get. to be honest, when it was brought over to me i was a bit turned off. it was dark, and looked fried to the max. here we go..a dry crab cake with 5 lbs of breadcrumbs. WRONG. slightly toasted/fried outside, with nothing but crab meat inside. juicy and moist, i was in love with the flavor! i love raw onions and a good bun to hold everything in. usually these sandwhiches have sauces on them, but this one did not--which was good, it didnt need a sauce. let the crab meat do the talking. fries that come with it are my favorite kind. not healthy for you, but double fried is where it's at. the orange crush is made with freshly squeezed oranges, which is unique for a dive bar! talk about effort! the orange crush was refreshing and ended up being stonger than you think. 10/10 would come again - love the upbeat fun crowd and the atmosphere. read more

Our third visit to Westside Saloon was not as good as the first 2 visits. We were there on Saturday 08/26/23 at about 4:30. Our party of 4 sat outside . We ordered 2 Tomato stacks and white mussels which were very good. The Blackened Tuna, Swordfish and Scallops specials were overcooked and the scallops looked liked they were dipped in the blackened seasoning and had lumps of black on top of them. The Tuna was overcooked. To top it off our waitress brought out the entrees before we were halfway done our apps. We didn't have enough room to fit all the plates on our table. The food is excellent but the bartender assumed I was leaving an $11 tip on a $29 bill. Not cool. Wait staff should always bring the change and let the customer decide on the tip. I might have left that tip but now going forward I will use a credit card there and tip 20%. No more cash for me so as not to get into a conflict! I really like this place. I went there 15-20 years ago when I lived in West Wildwood for the whole summer. It was a true dive bar with crappy food and barely any beers. I do have a dollar bill in the ceiling from back then. I would have given it 2 stars back then. Fast forward a million years and I'm much older now.. very classy. Inside still looks the same. The drinks are amazing. I went there last summer - Pre-Covid - during the middle of the day and it was pretty crowded and customer service was so-so... but you can only fit so many people behind the bar! The food back then was delicious and my mom and I had some good Orange Crushes, which is what they were famous for. Scrapple Bites - so good, of course if you like scrapple, which if you are from Philly/South NJ, you probably do. Now - COVID - they have tables outside, but it's July and it's hot. The have always had people at them. We ordered take out two nights this week. Only thing bad about their take out app is there are no explanations of the food.. like what is in a Seafood Sampler... and the pic of the menu on their Facebook site doesn't always match up with the online ordering site. But, stick with the classics and you are good to go! Crab Grilled Cheese- damn good. Scallops and lobster - damn good. I ordered the Orange Crush to go one night. Not as good as if they make it for you, but good enough. And the got the Pineapple Crush the second night. Which was awesome... fresh squeezed pineapple juice with Pinnacle whipped vodka and coconut rum. (Actually pretty easy to make at home though). All in all I'm glad they are open during this time and I'm glad I'm supporting the local business. (For some reason the one McDonalds on the island has had super lone drive thru lines each time I drive by- gross with all this great local food). The clams are very good and the price is reasonable. The drinks are good as well especially the orange crush. But the customer service is terrible. We went there twice and both times we had to wait forever just to get a drink and once we ordered our food it took forever to come. Additionally they have only one bartender who does all the drinks and takes all the orders. It's a pretty cool place but the customer service need help.
