She noticed the engine smoking, so she ran it by The Auto Shop and they did a free inspection for her. Before leaving for TX, she had gotten an oil change from a local business, and I guess they wound up spilling oil all over the engine. Instead of cleaning it up, they left it to drip on the engine causing it to smoke when running. The staff at The Auto Shop were great to her. we have been taking my wife's car here for about eight years and have been happy with everything until last week. I wasn't sure if it was the battery or the alternator. We dropped it off for an estimate and were quoted $1123.00 for an oil change and new battery. We told them to just do the oil change. I bought a new battery for $259.00 and did it myself. it saved us several hundred dollars. Can help but feel we were trying to be taken advantage of. We won't be back. read more

I had been using The Auto Shop for almost 6 years and thought they were a local place I could trust and even recommended to friends. That has all changed with my recent experience from the last week so I have changed my original 5 star review to a 1 star review. My wife dropped her car off for an oil change and inspection. We received an estimate via text message, and my wife called on speaker phone. I heard an estimate of $3.6k for everything on the car and the person on the phone mentioned they might be able to save some on labor by doing everything now due to a savings cost on front shocks since it was already disassembled. We drove to the Auto Shop to pick up loaner vehicle while work was being done. The person at the front desk told us it would be a $400 savings for a total of $3.2k. Both my wife and I heard that total. Work was completed on car in a couple of days ahead of schedule, and due to my wife's work schedule I picked up the car. Upon saying I was there for the car, the same person from earlier quickly said the agreed upon total of $4.8k. I remarked that I thought it was agreed upon for $3.2k. He was quick to bring out paperwork as if already prepared for the debate, where my wife had signed work order for $4.8k. An expensive $1.6k lesson for my wife to always check what she signs instead of trusting a place not to pull a bait and switch. He even made a comment that "wives will sign anything and tell you something else". Well, I heard the amount too, so I'm not falling for it. She should have read the amount before signing it, so I'll take the loss on that. Thruthbetold, if they started with the actual estimate of $4.8k I would have rejected the work and just traded in the car. Over time with my lost business and future recommendations I will make to other coworkers to stay away, I am sure they will miss out on well over the $1,600 in future business. I have NEVER patronized ANY company who advertises on FB. But TheAutoShop made an offer and I took them up on it. They did the yearly inspection on my truck and I was expecting them to find all this stuff wrong with it and pressure me into having them fix it. Similar to the timeshare sales pitches you have to endure for a free hotel stay. New cabin air filter, new wiper blades, gas cap, anything to make a buck. To my amazement they only found a squeak in my front end that was no big deal. They closed out my ticket and asked that I consider coming back to them when I need service or any repairs. That was it! No heavy sales pitch, no laundry list of needed repairs. Just good, honest service! Very refreshing in this day and time. They have been around for many, many years, I've just never gone there. I had air conditioning that was not good, blowing hot air at all times. They did their tests, found nothing, and said it was fixed by the general service they performed. It was not fixed. I brought it back, they re-tested it, said it was good, but at my suggestion, they checked something else and said that was the real problem, and wanted to charge $300 more for it. I refused. I took it somewhere else, they said that something else that they had wanted $300 for, had nothing to do with the problem. They checked it out, found a totally different problem that The Auto Shop should have found, and it is now fixed and working properly. They also suggested a wheel alignment, and they did it. Immediately, I noticed that the car was veering to the right at all times. I took it back, and they said that they did that wrong and gave me some kind of excuse. Bottom line is their service manager swore up and down that the A/C was working fine and blowing very cold when I only experienced hot air coming out for over a hundred miles. And they never found the real problem, so I can only conclude they have no skill in determining the cause of the problem. read more

Had my car towed in for something stupid one of my kids did. Took them 3 days and a call from me to get a status which is a bit unusual. They should be up front if they can't get to your car within 24 hours. My diagnosis ended with them putting gas in the car. No parts. Just diagnostic. Cost me 175 for the diagnostic. It's a flat fee with no indicator of how much time this covers. My issue for what I know about cars should have been under an hour. I was changed a second 175 for the mechanics time which is a separate charge. Just a heads up this place is expensive. Feel like it would have been cheaper at the dealer. read more

If you own a car, you've probably been to a mechanic before and worried if you're paying too much for repairs. Or that you're paying for the WRONG repairs. Well, the communication at the Auto Shop is second to none. The employees at the Auto Shop (looking at you Dustin) are friendly and honest. Dustin was clear about what was wrong (and even sent me pictures) and what the costs were. I ended up getting 2 new axles and a new radiator as well as a few small fixes on my '07 Lexus RX 350. In addition, when repairs were going to take longer than expected, they gave me a loaner car so I could get my kids home in time for dinner - it worked out great! It was a great experience and gave me hope that fixing my car doesn't have to be a huge hassle. read more

"Its what companys do when things are going wrong that counts the most." I drive a Toyota Tacoma with over 200,000 miles. It needed a few things fixed on it while it was having the general maintenance addressed. An appointment was made for me to bring my truck in and have everything done all at one time. I showed up at the appointment time and they took the truck right back to have everything done right away. The waiting room is perfect for working on your laptop and the facility's are spotless. Bathrooms are clean and smell good. (as good as a bathroom could). I love watching the work get done so the window into the service area was cool for me. Just like any other car or truck with over 200k miles a few things cam up and needed to be added on. The service technicians know everything they needed to know and were very competent. They even showed me the parts explaining what was wrong with it. ALL OF THE STAFF TOOK THE TIME I WANTED TO SHOW ME WHAT AND WHY THE WORK WAS BEING DONE. This is all great but the auto shop only lived up to expectations at this point. What makes them a 5 star facility is how they handle things when they go wrong. After the work was done I was off to the next thing in life. I ran around that afternoon parking the truck at the house at the end of the day. I didn't have to drive it for a few days so it was not until Sunday afternoon that I found a large puddle of oil under the truck. I checked the oil level and it was almost empty. "Crap" When I had all of the information I called Sunday night and left a message on the voice mail explaining everything. First thing Monday morning The Auto shop had called back, confirmed the issues. They decided it was best to send a tow truck so we didn't risk causing more damage. The tow truck they sent was as professional as they are, 5 stars. I was able to ride with him to the shop and wait for them to get it all fixed up. After waiting about 15 minutes they had informed me a part they replaced on the first visit had a defect. A new one was on the way and they were replacing it. "Great thanks". Well, while doing this work another part broke. This added more time. They did not want to rush the work. "It is best if we make sure this is done correct and not rushed" Dustin work his magic getting me a rental so I didn't have to wait. I was back to my day while they focused on getting the truck fixed. Most people get very stressed out when things go wrong. The auto shop was not happy with the issues but handled everything in there power with grace, working hard as a team to get the job done correctly. At the end of the fix. I paid for the original invoice. When all of the issues happened they covered everything related to the faulty part. My second visit including a tow truck, the new replacement parts, car rental, and labor. This was all covered by The Auto Shop. My biggest point is to stay patient, listen and trust them. The Auto Shop works hard to do the right thing and just wants you to trust them with you vehicles. They have my business. First of all, this place claims and touts it's Covid following precautions. I personally observed 2 people without masks at all. And another 2 that constantly pulled theirs down or had it off defeating the purpose. I took my car in at 730 AM for an appointment I had made 2 weeks in advance. I wanted a simple oil change that included a coupon for checks and tire rotation. I called at 3 PM to confirm my car was ready after hearing nothing all day. It was confirmed my car was ready. I arrived around 430 PM and did not see my car outside but assumed it was on the other side or being pulled out shortly. I was called 3 times and texted once 10 mins before my arrival that they needed to talk about my car. I missed the calls due to my phone being on silent from work and in my pocket since I was heading there. These calls started at 415 PM. Mind you this place closes at 530 PM and I had already been told my car was ready for pick up over an hour before the first call. I asked what the issue was and was told he needed to show me. He walked me back to the service area I did not want to go into both because I have massive back issues and kept saying I couldn't stand or walk for long, which is why I scheduled an appointment for drop off and pick up, and exposure concerns. He never wore a mask while talking to me and then reluctantly put it on when I asked. The mechanic I was near did not have a mask on either. He kept approaching me as I asked him to maintain a proper distance. He showed me a few filters that needed to be changed. I said I'd probably go ahead and do it. He informed me it was too late but I could take it back another day. I was beyond frustrated as I didn't understand why my car was not ready if the work could not be done. I asked to speak to someone else after I asked this question without answer and was pejoratively called sir. I was directed to the owner that was "finishing up another client" for another 10 mins not acknowledging my presence nor the issue. I asked them why I would want a check without an opportunity to cure the issue. They informed me I could take care of it next time and it wasn't crucial - completely missing the points of a check, my time, and brini your car in as early as possible with an appointment. As we continued to debate my $91 bill for an oil change and tire rotation with $50 labor, a woman came to clock out without a mask on. She gestured to me and told me to lower my voice. I told her not to talk to me since she wasn't wearing a mask. She continued to talk and raise her voice at me while I backed away 6 feet. She was right next to the owner. At this point, I was concerned about my exposure so I paid the bill and left. As they ironically wiped off my card and pretended to follow protocols while missing the whole point of a mask requirement. TLDR Come here if you want to experience : 8+ hours of no communication for an oil change to be completed with an appointment Calling to confirm your car is ready when it's not then waiting over 30 mins for it to be ready A $91 oil change People not masked Updates per the response from the owner : 1) This is just a lie. I was obviously upset my car was not ready which would make it obvious to most people with common sense I had the expectation it would be ready. No one ever informed me you were short handed nor that my car would not be ready until 5. Actually, no one said anything to me all day after dropping off at 7:30 AM. I called at 3 PM to confirm my car would be ready at 4:00 and was told it was being finished then. I didn't arrive until 4:30. Actually, you put my time out as 4:15 then charged me when my car was actually ready at 4:40. I attached a photo to show this. Most people would expect their car to be ready before 5 when dropping off at 730. Not to mention you close at 530 so most shops prefer to not have everyone come right before closing. 2) It should not take a mishandled customer experience to have an effective communication on timelines. Seems pretty 101 to running an effective automotive business. Your staff while unmasked were actually the ones still yelling when I left which is why I chose to leave when I did. 3) I'll let people judge for themselves the pricing. 4) This is about the level of professionalism I expect top down from my experience here. You can't actually deny service to those not seeking it. Interesting point about your waiting area which was not following capacity rules either. I would have gladly left earlier had my car been ready which it was not. Don't worry I won't be returning but I think it's rather generous to call yourself a business. Thanks for the reply on #4 as it really leaves no doubt as to where the problems originate. I'll let people judge for themselves if they want to come to a business that just now realized they need to correctly communicate times for car pick up at an auto shop. read more

My experiences at The Auto Shop are mixed. I've had decent work done by them in the past, but recently it's been poor. A couple of months ago, I took my car here for an alignment. Not even 200 miles after the alignment had been performed, my steering wheel was cocked to the left while driving straight. I returned to them to fix this issue. They handed me printouts with my receipt that confirmed that the alignment that they performed had shifted. They fixed the alignment free of charge, since I already paid $100 a week prior. 150 miles later, and the problem continues - my steering wheel is off center when driving straight. At this point, I decided it best to take my car to another shop. At the new shop, I told them my experiences with the issue. Not only did they find out the exact cause, but they got the car aligned better than it's ever been for $50. Turns out the cause for the chronic suspension shifting was that The Auto Shop wasn't torqueing my control arms down enough, thus causing them to move when under load. This place has been around for a while, and very well may be a good place for services other than alignments. However, I personally won't be going back due to the inconvenience and cost that I've experienced. The wait times are long, the communication is poor, and the quality of the work (based on my experience) is subpar. I'd recommend to spend your hard earned money elsewhere. read more

I stopped in on the Saturday before Memorial Day (yes, they were open despite their website and Yelp saying closed on Saturdays) -- I'd just had my oil changed at Valvoline and was told my serpentine belt needed to be changed ASAP - like that day. Jeff was there, and they were short-staffed and had a considerable lineup of cars to be worked on, but he said he'd take a look at it. I popped the hood, and he said, "Oh yeah, I'll work you in. This needs to be fixed right away." He had me fixed up and ready to go within an hour -- despite being short-staffed on the Saturday before a holiday! Then a few days later, I got a hand-written thank you note! I'll definitely be going back for any work I need done on my vehicles in the future! read more

Firstly I am not a Yelp review kind of person, but my experience was so great here that I need to share how well I was treated by Dustin at The Auto Shop. I came in because I had recently had my car at the dealership so that they could replace a part due to a recall on my car. While there, they took it upon themselves to do a top to bottom inspection of my car, and gave me a list of parts and replacement services that they said the car needed that would cost thousands of dollars to fix. I took the list to Dustin who took the time out of his day to go through the list with me line by line and identify frivolous items that the dealership had either added that did not need to be fixed or were for ridiculous markups. With Dustin's help, we got my car fixed for a third of the price the dealership was going to charge and it is running better than ever at 10 years old and 120k miles. I'm going to say this again because it is worth emphasizing - DUSTIN FIXED MY CAR FOR A THIRD OF WHAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS GOING TO CHARGE. As someone that does not know a lot about cars, I now know that I have a partner I can trust in The Auto Shop, and will be telling anyone who is willing to listen that this is a reliable and honest business. read more

Took my Mini in after having the dealership run a diagnostic. The dealership was charging me thousands of dollars for multiple things that "needed immediate attention" so I decided to take a look around and get a second opinion. The guys at the Auto shop ran their diagnostic and came up with their own conclusion for the issues I was having and fixed my vehicle for a much more reasonable amount. My Mini is now running a lot smoother than when I bought it used a few months ago. They seem like honest, hard working guys and they keep a clean working environment. I've been going to this shop for a few years, not because they were all that great, but they were convenient. After my last visit, I will never use them again. I asked them to replace my passenger side tail light and driver side reverse light. Instead they replaced the driver side light everything. I didn't notice right away and when I went back they said they replaced the one that was not working. I know for a fact there were issues on both sides, but not the same issue. They did not correct their mistake and tried to make it seem like I didn't know what I was talking about. Not only that, but they tried to tell me that my brake pads needed to be replaced...I had just replaced them myself about 2 months prior, but during a previous visit they suggested replacement. One star is too generous. Needs to be a negative star!Took my vehicle here to have the suspension worked on and they only replaced one of three parts that I paid them for. Also they left off parts which wasn't discovered until I took the car to a different repair shop because my suspension was worse than before I took it here. I spoke to their manager who blew me off and said the other parts were bad and this did can't cover them under their warranty. Do not get ripped off like me, use a different shop by all means. If you do use this shop ask for the old parts so that you can see them and check for new parts installed. read more

I had an appointment to get some basic maintenance done on my vehicle. It was discovered that some rodents had chewed into my brake fluid line so that needed to be replaced. I was provided with a text message which showed pictures and a description of the issues found. I agreed to the repairs and my car was ready to be picked up the next morning. They took me home since my car was not ready and they picked me up the next day when it was ready. I have been taking my cars to the auto shop since they first opened in 1981 when I was in high school. I trust Jerry with my vehicle because they have always been honest and reliable. My check engine light came on suddenly one morning while on the way to work and the engine starting idling rough as if it was going to stall. So I jetted into the parking lot and was met by John who apparently manages the service dept there. He was able to get the car in right away and within 30 min they had determined that I had a faulty oxygen sensor. Price for replacement was reasonable and along with oil change I was on my way in just over an hour. Great to know there is a reputable place so close to my house. Would definitely repeat! read more

This place got great reviews and was closer to my office than my usual mechanic. I took my old Toyota there when the A/C went out last summer, hoping it would only be the freon. The shop itself is nice - they gave me a ride back to my office and they have a nice waiting room. Problem is, they quoted me over a thousand to replace my compressor and charged me a couple of hundred just to have checked out. I couldn't afford the compressor so I drove in it all summer, which was miserable. I just took it to my usual mechanic since the weather was getting hot again, hoping he could get me a better deal on the compressor (he usually does). All he did was put in freon and charge me less than $200 for state inspection, oil change, labor, and the freon. He says my compressor is fine. My experience with auto shops is that the fancy ones WAY over charge, and thus are not worth my time. read more
