My 2000 GMC Safari Van drives like new with 439,000 original miles on it thanks to the boys at Plano Automatic Transmission. They rebuilt my transmission at 350,000 and it hasn't missed a beat since. The price was fair ($1450) and they even replaced a leaky oil seal in the rear of the engine for the same price charging me only for the seal ($25). These guys can be trusted to not sell you more than you need and the quality of their work is first rate. read more

I called them once a week for 3 weeks asking for updates on my car which they always replied that they would get back to me tomorrow and never did. After finally receiving a quote I decided to scrap the car. I went to pick it up 2 days later and they said I owed over a week of "storage fees" from waiting to decide what I was going to do with the car. After I showed him the call log he hurled vulgar insults at me, calling me a "low and trashy human" completely out of nowhere for proving that I was mischarged. read more

Liz and crew did a great job rebuilding the transmission of our 2013 F150 that the not so Christian Brothers screwed up. They are a very busy shop (bad sign if they weren't) but Liz communicated with us every step of the way and fixed it right! She took pictures of the incorrect repair and missing internal plugs Christian Brothers did to the transmission and the actual failed part the bone heads should have replaced. Liz definitely knows what she is talking about and I would trust her with any transmission work. read more

I brought my car in on the 9th because my car won't shift into reverse, and i was told no problem they'll get right on it yada yada.. well it is now the 20th. and they still have yet to even move my car from the same parking spot i left it in when i dropped it off. I keep getting the same response, "well they haven't been able to get around to it, they know its a transmission thing it wont go in reverse..." no, really?? THATS WHY I BROUGHT IT IN TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP IN THE FIRST PLACE. and then when i said so you guys have no idea as to when you'll even have a look? he said no, no idea... to which i said okay well i think im going to have to take it elsewhere then, and his response was "well, yeah i think you might man i dont know." Thanks for having me ride the bus for the past week and a half for absolutely no reason. Ridiculous. read more

I had my 2010 Ford Explorer towed to their shop because I thought that the transmission went out. It started making a loud noise while I was trying to accelerate to pass a truck so I pulled into a parking lot and noticed that it would roll back when I placed it in park. When they got it up on the rack they discovered that all four bolts holding the differential had worked their way out and the only thing holding it in place was a single bolt that was captured by the spare tire. Unfortunately, it had already tore up differential, both wheel axles and the drive shaft. Jim worked up a quote on getting a rebuilt differential, new wheel axles and having the existing drive shaft rebuilt. It seemed like it took forever to get the car repaired; however, Jim kept me updated with the progress and the majority of the delays were due to their supplier shipping incorrect parts (perhaps they need to write a review on their supplier). In the end, I was very satisfied with the job they did and the final bill was exactly as they had quoted. read more

I brought my F-250 to Plano automatic transmission for repairs. And after four warranty repairs my transmission is still broken. This place is absolutely worthless read more

Took my truck in for transmission repair. I was broke down in Sherman and had it towed to my business in Plano. Fortunately I was able to drive it 3 blocks to their shop to be fixed. They could not understand why all the sudden it worked but it still slipped changing gears. It sit at my shop for a week before they could take it. I got it back 2-1/2 weeks later and drove it home. The next morning I got in it and it was downshifting hard. It stranded me again and needed a wrecker again which they furnished. Another two weeks for them to rebuild. On top of that when I drove it from their shop to mine 3 blocks away my wife came back from an errand and noticed my rear bumper was bent. Looked like the truck was backed into a trailer hitch or parking lot pole. Jeff did not deny it and said he would get me a new bumper. Crickets. The tranny still is iffy shifting but I am done with this. $3500 plus $500 bumper, toast. I have classic cars and my buddies will here about this. Find another place for yourself and stay away from this place. read more

Excellent, honest service. I was expecting the worst on my high mileage car. Ended up being a loose hose. Easy repair, nominal charge, a handshake and off I went. I will use them again when I need transmission service. Thanks for the advise about my other car and honesty on this one. read more

I brought my 2004 Pontiac VIbe to Plano Automatic Transmission because it would not shift smoothly into 3rd gear. I had previously taken the car to the dealership and 2 independent shops for this problem. The dealership told me that I would need to install a new transmission and that would cost several thousand dollars. the independent shops attempted to diagnose but wound up referring me to a dealer. i had heard about Plano Automatic Transmission from a friend who had work done there and was very pleased, so I decided to give them a try. Bottom line, they were able to repair my transmission within a couple of days after dropping it off, and it cost me less than $600. That's huge savings compared to a new transmission! The service was excellent. Jeff the owner and Lee the office manager were both very friendly. The car was returned to me in the same condition of cleanliness as I dropped it off. The last transmission shop I visited with another car gave the car back to me all greasy and nasty, so I wasn't looking forward to that. I was pleasantly surprised. If you are looking for a good independent transmission shop to work with, you really should consider this place. read more

This is my third experience with Plano Transmission, and I will never go any where else. I didn't know such good, honest, people still existed! The first time I took my H3 to them, I was told by someone else my transmission needed a lot of things. I took it to Plano on a referral, to discover I only needed a ten cent rubber seal, which they replaced for free. Second time the work they performed was perfect, fast, and extremely reasonable. I can not recommend these people enough. Thank you Plano Transmission! read more

I had 2 transmissions go out within months of each other. I was referred to this company by my mechanic. They replaced the transmission in the first car for exactly what they quoted me tax and all. When the second transmission went out they did exactly what they said a second time. I have heard horror stories about transmission shops quoting a job, taking the transmission out and then upping the quote. These guys did exactly what they said they were going to do. read more

I have been doing business with Plano transmission for over twenty years. What I find is that Jeff and Lee will do everything that they can to help you with transmission questions and repairs. I am a member of a locat carclub and when I refer someone from the club to Plano Transmission I ALWAYS hear good reports about them. AND if they don't do the work because it is not something they feelshould be done by someonr else, (1963 Olds Starfire Slim Jim transmissin) they recommend someone else to do the job. Today when I called Lee was, again, very helpful and I will recommend that another club member go to Plano Transmission for his repairs. read more

Where do I start? My 2004 Tahoe went bad on a a recent road trip. I took it to the STEALership for diagnosis purposes to only find out that I need a transfer case that would run me three grand! I laughed and said no way! Took it to aamco, they told me two grand...I thought that was a good deal considering what the dealership told me. I did more research and stumbled up on plano transmission and gave them a call..spoke with Jeff who seemed very knowledgeable about the problem I was having. We set up a date and time for me to bring my truck in. He explained to me the entire process and got it done. It took a while because he was behind on his work. The problem is fixed and my truck is back on the road I will refer my worst enemy to this place! They are the real deal!! read more

I made a phone call to inquire about a Lexus GS 300 transmission, And was the luck of the draw to pick this place as a place to call just to get an idea. Park Place tells me my whole transmission has to be replaced, which I would NEVER buy a lexus thinking I would have to replace a transmission, I bought the car knowing that Lexus had a good reputation of a car. I got the pleasure of Jeff answering the phone, and right away he knew exactly everything I was told. Jeff was very helpful in providing great knowledge which calmed me down, I haven't taken my car there yet, I am waiting on Lexus to make it right at their cost, If they do not, I will bring my car to Jeff. I already have confident this is the right place to take my car. I wanted to provide a great review! That is a world of knowledge he shared freely! Thank you Jeff!! read more

Club Odyssey is BACK!!!! Praise God!!! Plano Automatic Transmission is Heaven on Earth!! Jeff and Lee are simply SPECTACULAR ANGELS!!! No hard sale, no up sale - just the simple plain truth at the honest and simple price with a nationwide warranty. Guys if you aren't going to them, you are simply an IDIOT, yes - I said it, an idiot. If you want to pay everyone else's prices - go see these guys and pay me the rest (it will be about the same amount you pay them, if not more). They take the time to CARE about you and your vehicle. They understood this was my only car and put me at the top of the list. With the updates they gave me and the time they got it done in, it felt like the van was the only thing they were working on (oh and good luck finding parking with all of the cars they are working on there). Don't question, just do it - go. You won't be sorry. read more

After reading an article in the Dallas Morning News relating to deceptive business practices by some shops, I'm so glad that I did business with Plano Automatic Transmissions. Jeff, the owner, gave me an estimate and repaired the vehicle quickly. When it came time to settle up, the final bill was exactly the amount he quoted, which was as much as 40% less than the national chains. The greatest compliment I can give is that he stands behind his work. There was a problem with a seal that was leaking. The repair required the removal of the transmission, a major repair. Jeff didn't hesitate or try to shift the blame, he repaired the problem promptly, no questions or hesitation. Kudos to this businessman for outstanding ethics. No wonder they have been in business since 1966. read more

i called in and asked for Jeff, guy on the phone said he was out sick, he said his name was Lee.... see the write up below..... I spoke with Lee and I asked him if he had a minute so i could explain my transmission problem and he told me he had one minute to spare, that was all he had... I told him that it sounds like he was too busy to speak with me and hung up........ When you are calling a company and you are a new customer, NEVER TELL THE CUSTOMER YOU HAVE 1 MINUTE....... read more

Was lucky enough to be referred to this shop by one of my frequent customers. I first took my car to another shop after the scary "check transmission" light popped up on my way to work one morning. The other shop wanted $3000 to repair my car. Seeing as that's a lot of money (especially for a car that I purchased 6 months prior for $6000), I took my customer's advice and headed to Plano Transmission. I was greeted by Lee and Jeff (the owner) when I was there. I explained my situation and Jeff was pretty confident it was a small problem known in the Taurus. Lee also went over the absolute worst case scenario and said if the transmission needs to be rebuilt...I would pay $1650 max with parts and labor. The other place wanted $3000 WITHOUT rebuilding it. Needless to say, I was notified next day that the car was ready and my cost would be $60.43...yes, you read that correctly...got my car fixed for $60.43 when the other place estimated $3000! If you have a transmission issue, do yourself a favor and head here first. read more
