Let me start by saying the food was very good. I ordered the Attic Philly sandwich with onion rings to go. The sandwich was probably 4 out of 5 stars. The reason I'm lowering my rating to 3 stars is first I called the phone number on Yelp to place my order. It turned out to be an employee or owner's cell phone number. He gave the correct phone number to me which I confirmed by googling the restaurant. I called & placed my order & was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. When I arrived they said there was no order & I must not have placed an order. The staff did very quickly prepare my order & they were very polite from that point on. Not having been to Clarkesville, Georgia before we were surprised to find a restaurant that had such a wonderful atmosphere and simply marvelous food. This was at lunchtime and my wife had the Loaded Potato Soup and then a Reuben with sweet potato fries and I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Flavorful, delectable and served by staff that actually seemed to care that your meal was one of the best you have ever had. We never wanted for anything because they came by the table enough times to make sure that we had everything we needed..Thanks to the management for having these kind of people on their staff. And even though we only went their for a visit we are hoping that we get invited back again just so we can have an excuse to visit The Attic once again. read more

Local, second dining experience in 2 mths, first time lunch, enjoyed the meal, waittress very knowledgeable, hostess seated us in a row which I didn't understand. Second time was dinner, Abby our server that forgot out salad after she brought my entree of luke warn seafood pasta, although good needed some bread to soak up the delicious sause. The only reason this restaurant didn't earn a better rating is they overcharged me on my bill. I had six in my party and was supposed to be charged 18% but was charged 20%. When brought to the waitress attention her response was "manager hasn't updated the menu." Before this was brought to her attention, she acknowledged the 18% service charge and requested us to add a tip with service charge. With the overcharge they received the service charge plus tip. Otherwise restaurant was clean, food was pretty good, waitress was courteous and attentive, but don't play with my hard earned money!! read more

Our family of 5 stopped in for lunch while vacationing in nearby Helen, GA. The atmosphere is modern and comfortable. The food was very good. We had a variety of dishes from burgers, to pasta with grilled chicken, to wraps. Everything was fresh and good. The wait staff was also attentive and friendly. read more

This place did not reach my expectations. At all. Customer service was terrible and the waitress was all over the place and very very unorganized. We got here at 11am and didnt get our drinks or get to place our food order until 12pm. Waitress was in distress/tears most of our time here and continually apologized and seemed very frazzled. Half of our party got their food fairly quickly and it was great. But it was another hour till the other half of our party got our food. Keep in mind these weren't complicated orders, I'm talking chicken fingers and french fries. Another thing is the bathrooms. They were in terrible shape and very dirty with urine all over the bottom of the toilet. Also, one of our party ordered a 10oz sirloin and after waiting an hour or so for it to arrive, they were given meatloaf and told that they don't sell steaks at lunchtime, or rolls. On my first trip to Clarkesville, I went to The Attic with my husband, even though we'd read the reviews complaining about the service. We like to find out these things for ourselves. Well, not only was the food delicious, but our waitress, Sam, was attentive and efficient, as well as being quite personable. I had the Summertime Salad and those fresh fruits were just what I was needing. My husband had the Shrimp Burger with onion rings and he was quite taken aback by how good it was. For dessert we shared the brownie, and OMG it was just perfect! I'm trying the fried cheesecake next time. We WILL be back, so they may as well just paint our names on a parking space. read more

This is my absolute favorite restaurant. My family and I come in often and while I've ordered everything on the menu, my favorite dish is the salmon spinach salad. My stepfather and brothers enjoy their stews and especially enjoy that bread bowls are offered as I don't think any of the other local restaurants offer them. Atmosphere was very nice, really looked like the inside of an attic. Old antiques pieces, and other homey decorations. Service was pretty good, hot coffee, and refills. My girlfriend was very happy about the rustic look. We split the Buffalo chicken wrap with onion rings and the pineapple chicken salad with honey mustard dressing. Both were very good. Crisp fresh lettuce, perfectly juicy pineapples, the chicken salad on top was also great, not too much mayo flavor, and the dressing was also tasty. The wrap was great, awesome flavors, great buffalo sauce although could have used a little more kick. Onion rings were also very good. Great prices. Bill came to $20. I've yet to have a bad (or cheap) meal from here! I cannot stress how much I love the inside of this restaurant. In my opinion, it's best enjoyed right after the sun goes down and you can fully experience the ambiance of the fairy lights over the gauzy window covers in the main dining area. We were sooooo impressed. Came up from Atlanta to watch the eclipse with the rest of the world. Had a recommendation that this is a MUST in north Georgia. Read the reviews and decided to give it a go. The service is exceptional. Our server was Alexis and we were shocked at the end of the evening to learn it was only her second day there. She was so friendly, so on top of things so, so accommodating. And the others that we encountered were equally exceptional. Now for the food and drink. Good selection of wines at reasonable prices. The spinach and artichoke appetizer was incredible! And the chips that went along with it we're so crispy and light. We had blackened red snapper with whipped sweet potatoes, as well as stuffed trout with mixed vegetables. Five star ratings for both! Haven't had snapper like that since we were Oceanside in either Maine or San Diego. Top-notch in every way absolutely recommend. I've heard such great things about this place that my wife and I decided to try it. We've been twice, but one time the wait was so long, we left. The time that we stayed, I still waited quite a while and the food was good, but not worth the wait. The restaurant was good, but I just get annoyed waiting so long while I sit there and look at empty tables. We've discussed trying it again, but neither one of us has really felt the urge. Okay.....this restaurant is a must! We went last night for dinner and it was totally unforgetable! There was not one thing "off" about our experience. 1st - for parties of 5 - 12 you must make reservations. For parties of 4 or less you can call ahead. Once we were seated the hostess proceeded to ask what we would like to drink and fetched it. That is a class act move for an eating establishment. Within minutes the server came and told us the specials and we ordered an appetizer. We chose the spinach dip which was so good, white melted cheese with spinach, nice and simple, served with homemade chips which were made of flour tortillas instead of corn. Yummy! The ratio of chips to dip was perfect. Along with that we were served a round loaf of bread with olive oil, pepper, and balsamic dipping oil. That was great too! Everything was served timely all through the evening and not a complaint about taste from any of the 3 of us. We all had plenty to bring home too. Wonderfully, the cloth napkins used are black. This is the best idea for any restaurant as with white you can see previous stains and for me, I where a lot of dark colors, the white napkins leave "dust" all over me. We have only eaten lunch here, but the food is excellent, the staff very friendly and the ambiance very nice. My husband and I drove 25 minutes out of our way to visit this quant town. After walking around for 20 minutes and reviewing other Yelp reviews we decided to grab a bite to eat at The Attic. Once we arrived we waited at the host stand for over five minutes, watching waiters rush around the kitchen and saying "we will be with you shortly". We requested to be seated outside on the patio and its a perfect place to sit and enjoy your meal and people watch (and probably the only positive thing about our experience here). We waited another 10 minutes to have drinks ordered and before we could order our app the waitress left. When she finally came back with our waters we ordered our app and our meals since we had already been there 25 minutes. My husband ordered the Mahi fried sandwich which was dripping with grease. Don't get me wrong we are southerners and love fried food, but this piece of fish was extremely greasy. I ordered the old faithful burger and there was no taste at all. Again, we are foodies and we understand things happen, but after both entrees being below average and a chicken nacho app with only chicken, cheese, and chips I can honestly say we will not be coming back soon for the food. Also, they only serve beer and wine so don't go expecting to get any mixed or unique drinks. The entrance needs some major attention due to the fact that you walk in and you are looking directly into the kitchen and their storage area.... First impressions are a major thing! The bathroom is located in the back of the building AFTER you go thru their storage area with utensils, veggies, and bottles of condiments out for the world to see and touch. I went with a group to this restaurant for lunch. The restaurant was bitter cold. My feet were numb by the time I left. It took a long time to get served. When the food did come, several people's food was cold. My food was Ok, everyone who got soup said it was very good. When we got the bill, the waitress told us she added 15% tip because of the group, but when I did the math, she actually added 21%! I don't know if she punched in the wrong number or was trying to con us out of a bigger tip thinking we might bump it up a few dollars. They did go out of their way to give us plates for a desert that we brought in which is the only reason I'm giving a 3 star instead of 2. read more

This place should be sued for FALSE ADVERTISING. Went there for dinner after my wedding with family. The waitress was so incredibly rude and not friendly at all. Appetizers came out pretty good but entrees were terrible. My dad, husband and brother got surf and turf at 50$ a plate and the lobster was so over cooked it was like a piece of RUBBER. It was sooooo not worth the price. I got pasta with chicken and the chicken was dry as a freakin bone! Idk if these people cooked thee meals 2 days before we came or what but it tasted like leftovers left in the fridge for 5 days! Please do not waste your money or time with this place! read more

The salads were as good as Wendy's so save yourself $70 bucks for two and good for fast food. Reserve the big bucks for a restaurant that deserves it. This is clearly not it. read more
