OK this is a tough review. I was going between three and four stars so you need to know that from the beginning. Hangry's is a local burger place that looks pretty busy most of the time. However don't worry about that, the two times that we went the line was quick and so was the service. You walk in and you will see the counter where you order, and attached to that is a venue. It is mostly burgers, hot dogs, and chicken strips with combinations of those available depending on your hunger (or hanger I guess). Place your order, go to a table, and a short time later your food arrives. On this visit I had a burger and cheese fries. Megan had a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. My burger was well grilled and seasoned and was a smash burger, The bun was one of those dense brioche buns some people like. I don't but that's ok, it is a style. However you should get a double patty to get a better meat to cheese ratio. The fries are the kind with some skin on them and look like they are cut in house. The downside of that is that they are served less crispy than I like. The cheese sauce was good, it was better than what some places offer that is straight out of the can. Megan said there was plenty of bacon on her burger so she was less concerned about the meat to bun ratio. Her onion rings were tasty and uniform enough that they seemed out of a bag. With drinks we were right at $30 cash which is kinda high but tariffs are killing us. If you are in the area give Hangry's a try, but get the double patty! Gotta leave a review to counter my last one! They were open today! We decided to try it! It's small and quaint inside! Employees were all friendly! I got the small phillyzilla which is Philly meat and cheese pudding on house cut fries. I added grilled onions which were diced. It was good but they came and asked me about what cheese I wanted and it was very confusing. I said American, because I didn't hear provolone or anything that was used on phillys except cheese pudding. I expected sliced American since nacho cheese was an option. I got the cheese pudding, not slices. Just FYI! The hubs got a burger and enjoyed it! MIL got the strawberry cheesecake milkshake and loved it. Other than the cheese debacle, it was great! read more

The hamburger was falling apart. The bun was hard. I don't know why the French fries should taste like burnt oil. Change your oil, this is disgusting. This is not healthy. They grill your onions, which is not how you make a hamburger. They should be sliced sideways. This place is pitiful and pathetic. read more

Let me preface this review with the circumstances: this was the first day after the Fourth of July weekend and I hope this was just an off day. This is a small rural restaurant outside Clarksville GA. Enough parking for 12-15 vehicles and there's a wheelchair ramp in front. Inside is carpeted. The carpet in front of the cash register area where you place your order is so dirty that your shoes stick to it. There are several diner-style booths and tables and a trash can for self-clean-up. Tables had been wiped with a wet rag but were still wet. The employees are very nice and friendly. You order at the counter and your meal is brought to your table. My husband and I each ordered a pork plate which comes with two sides and a drink. We each got salads and iced tea. I also got onion rings and he got slaw. I suspect we were served pork leftover from the holiday because I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that this was the worst barbecue we've ever eaten. It was all dried out as if it had been reheated more than once or even microwaved. It was chopped to smithereens too. Just tiny bits. Neither of us were able to finish it. The salads were very fresh and delicious. The onion rings were good and not frozen as far as I could tell. We didn't care for the slaw at all but that's just personal preference. The iced tea was great. I'm giving two stars for the salad and tea. We spent about $30 for this meal. read more

After getting the COVID-19 vaccination over at the Cleveland Fairgrounds I was plenty hungry & the ride home was long. I wanted BBQ but as it was a Monday the popular 4 stars & up places that are dedicated to BBQ were all closed so Hangry's it had to be. This primarily burger shop fit the bill for an easy well package take-out experience. It's a popular place at lunch as observed by the many individuals picking up their take out orders & all the vehicles in the small parking lot & the groups dining inside, mostly maskless. That observation isn't added to throw any shade but rather as information to be given to the public that might read this review & have strong feelings about masks one way or the other. I ordered a straight up single patty cheese burger no condiments but with the works (L, T,O & pickle ) I got the hand cut fries too. As they have BBQ pork sandwiches I went ahead & asked for a tiny side of the spicy bbq sauce too. The burger is a generous patty, hand formed of good quality beef using what I thought was a rather lean mix. I could have never finished a double - of which they do offer along with hotdogs. The burger Is cooked well done. In hind sight I should have asked for medium rare - but maybe they can't do that because the burger is so big. The burger & fries were excellent & the bbq sauce on both was pretty good too, thick with a mild smokiness but on the sweet side with a little bit of heat. I have been eating at Hangry's for the last 5 years. The food has always been great. However my complaint is if your going to charge 11.02 for a Cheese Burger combo includes fries and regular size drink. At least give me a Hamburger to match the price. The hamburgers are now very thin roughly a 1/8 thick. For this price I can eat a Burger combo at Longhorns and it will be a two hand thick man size burger. Looks like I will have to stop eating here with these prices that don't match the portions. read more

What a great find! Hubby and I had the burgers and they were delicious AND cooked to order! French fries were excellent, as were the cheese curds. Sis had a delicious chicken sandwich and onion rings and brother in law raved on the chili dog and fries. The young men manning the register and cooking were so polite, nice and helpful. Boy was that refreshing to see! We will definitely go back and eat here. Oh, and Grandma's cakes! Yummy! Keylime and red velvet were what we had. My folks introduced me to this place about ten years ago when I was visiting from Seattle, and I was immediately a fan. Every Thanksgiving week since, I make it a point to get my A & E burger and fry fix when I'm visiting. The burgers are raggedy on the edges, a sure sign of being handmade, and the fries are hand-cut and oh so tasty. There is almost always a nice selection of homemade cake for dessert. While the food is great, the hospitality adds to the good vibes at A & E. Since the original owners and namesakes, Alan and Ellen retired, Matt and Aaron have taken over and have done a great job at carrying on the legacy here. The food is still fantastic, and these guys really have a passion for good food and customer service. Easily one of my top three burger places in my 50 years of being a burger freak. read more

I like to stop in about 2-3 times a week. I stop in at different times they are open from early to late. Not one time have I ever been disappointed in the food or the service. There is the odd time when stopping in late they have run out of their pork or potatoes, but things like that happen. Both Matt and Aaron go out of their way to keep the place clean and to make sure everyone is taken care of. There is a spiteful review here and on other places claiming these two are something that are not. I have sat down with people from every different ethnic group here and everyone is treated fair. It is true they run out of food. That is a bad side effect of being a small place that is getting more popular. AND! I will say this, if you think you were treated wrong, talk with Matt or Aaron, they will make sure you are taken care of correctly. But, trust me you do not have to worry about doing it. read more

Burgers are better than chili dogs at this middle of no where country crossroads cafe. Red cyclamate infused wieners are mushy soft. Chili lacks enough gusto to over come frank. Fries when cooked enough are very good hand cut from real potatoes. Burgers are robust big boys with fresh toppings. Red velvet cake is home made and delicious. Self serve drinks are a turn off. The formula here is you line up at the door to order and pay. Park your fanny in a seat and in a remarkably short time a pretty young girl will shout out the lucky winners number and bring your order. Bbq is questionable but Habersham club sandwich is delicious. The place has changed hands several times. Each new owner seems to take little more of the shine off the Apple. First it was entire to go orders were wrong not once or twice but every time (use to be a weekend regular customer), then the quality of the food went down, as in hair in my food when I took it back to the counter cashier just looked confused and said what do you want (after showing her the hair) - they did remake the burger after I requested a hair free meal - but the entire experience combined with the place consistently going down hill was it for my family. read more

Great little greasy spoon. Known pretty much for their burgers. They also have a nice spicy chili. I recommend avoiding the onions unless you get them grilled. Its a local place, so lots of friendly conversations. The burgers are well sized and inexpensive. Fries are very good. Sweet tea is a must. Although they haven't owned it long, these guys have really impressed me. The food used to be pretty good, but it always took forever. Since they took over, it's been nothing but fast, friendly service and some of the best burgers I've ever eaten. This is a MUST try. I recommend the Squealer and station 7 BBQ sauce. PS Idk what that one girl was talking about with the race thing but these are some of the kindest, salt of the earth people I've ever met...to EVERYONE. This is one of those local small businesses that is a must-visit. It's small, and you may wait in line, but it's that good. The burgers are definitely the best around, and they don't skimp. The slaw dogs are the best anywhere. The staff is very friendly and happy to be there. Update 11/26/18 First visit since ownership changed. Hate to say it based on one visit, but it's not the same. Perhaps the many visits previously built up the same expectation. Just have to be honest, I am disappointed. It went from a standing-room only, packed madhouse to another burger joint. A&E Grill is just about as simple and unpretentious as a restaurant can possibly be. I have family who live in the area and while visiting them, we stopped in for a bite. A&E is in a small, wooden building and though parking space is limited, the inside is roomy and very simply decorated; picnic style table and plastic checkered table cloths. The menu is as simple as the decor: hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, chili, and a few other basic sandwiches. The food, while not fancy, is well made and everything is made to order. The burgers seem to be handmade, not brought in frozen; the fries are hand cut and skin on; iced tea is homemade. Desserts are limited to homemade cakes and pies. A word of caution, though, unless otherwise specified, all burgers come adorned with slaw. If you (like me) aren't a fan of slaw, be sure to specify that you don't want it. If I'm in the area and want a really good, simple burger in an honest, small town atmosphere, I'll definitely stop in here. read more

First visit yesterday - called in a take out order. Have heard so many positive comments about the burgers and understand that the BBQ is a relatively new menu offering. We ordered: - burger with fries - half rack of ribs with fries and slaw - pulled pork sandwich with onion rings Service: friendly, attentive, and prompt The burger: ok. The meat begged for seasoning....even something as simple as salt and pepper The ribs: the good news - meaty and "falling off the bone" tender. The bad news - minimal smoke flavor/ring and lack of seasoning. My guess is that they were par boiled thus requiring less time in the smoker. $18 for half rack is a good value IF the ribs are tasty. The pork sandwich: dry and tasteless meat. They do offer several sauce choices but none were able to save the meat from lack of seasoning (just a bit of salt and pepper would have helped) The sides: ok. Stopped by here for a late lunch in early April '15 after hiking at Tallulah Gorge State Park. Small little unpretentious building on the outskirts of town. Friendly staff, the locals all seem to know each other. I had the Dirty Burger with with chili on it - excellent! Grilled cheese was excellent as well. Excellent prices. Lunch was about $12 for two.
