Visiting family in NE GA this weekend and we brunched at @sweetbreadscafe in Demorest, GA. It's a cute little restaurant open only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. We started things off with Beignets for the table. These were light and crispy with house-made whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Delicious! I got the Corned Beef Hash. This dish was anchored by a beautiful biscuit and topped with house-made corned beef hash, sweet milk gravy, and a couple of over-easy eggs. Fantastic and stick-to-your-ribs brunch. Definitely check this place out if you're ever in NE GA on a weekend. read more

Always a good choice when in the area. Today, they seemed a bit understaffed/ all over. It was very busy (12:40 on a Saturday. Walk-in w no reservation. Now I know to try and make one.) I have all the patience, and they were very sweet, but there needs to be better practices in place for busy days. No one greeted us/ no one was up front. No sign in sheet/ waitlist, no menus out to look at, and the two sweet ladies doing all the greeting, serving, bussing, cleaning, and everything else-- were too busy to communicate with one another. So things got a bit complicated w relaying info for tables, people in line, etc lol. Anywhooo, it all worked out. After about 20 min of waiting, and stalking a couple tables that would slowly be ready to leave, we were finally sat. We were warned that the waffles sold out. We were brought waters, and ordered our food. Our server was very attentive and even sat down w me for a moment to explain options- very kind. I saw the Kick A. Salad, and saw the chicken pecan salad sandwich/ wrap/ salad option. I asked how the salad would come for the chicken salad. She said it was the Kick A Salad w some chicken pecan salad on top of it-- perfect!!! Sounded delicious! And it was! My plate came with a tiny portion of pasta salad (didn't expect that), and small portion fruit- yum, and two little pan fried toasts. All delicious! The salad dressing was so good. My son ordered the Croque Monsieur- the French open face ham and cheese baked sandwich. It normally comes w an orange mustard sauce also- but we got it on the side for his picky self. He chose fries as his side-- best fried ever! Sooo crispy and light!, and it came w some fresh fruit. He loooooved his sandwich! Creamy béchamel type sauce w the real and thick cut ham slices, and melted cheese all baked to toasty perfection. He did try the orange mustard sauce w his fries and liked it haha . I'm sure it's delicious baked Into the sandwich. We took almost half to go. Big portions. A fun plus: they had organic ketchup packets for the fries hehe yay to no corn syrup or junk in the ketchup! It got less busy, and service was good, we got our check and boxes quickly when done. The atmosphere is nice. Decorated in a fun way. Lots to look at. Even the bathrooms are fun and have mouthwash to use haha. We wanted to try the patio this time on this beautiful day, but they had it reserved for a big party coming shortly. No biggie. We did take a sneak peak though. We'll try it when the window part is open w a nice breeze! The desserts all looked sooooo good! Definitely can tell they're scratch made. They said many were also GF. I come here frequently when my parents come to visit, the service is always wonderful. Everything we have had off the menu has been fantastic. We always take some sweet treats home. The Ruben is the best in town, it is a favorite of my mom. Their variety of sweets are outstanding (including many gluten free options). Restaurant is dog friendly, we always call ahead and they have a table on the patio for us. The back patio is super homey. Chicken Salad 8/10 -My mother enjoyed this dish. Very light, and the veggie mix worked very well with the salad. The dressing was yummy, in my opinion the dish didn't even need the extra dressing. There was a few wilted leaves of lettuce, but it happens. Ham, Mushroom, & Cheese Omelet 9/10 - Omelet is light and airy. Dish is consistent and delicious every time. I like how they cook their omelets, this one is cooked with Swiss cheese that pairs well with the ham and mushrooms. The potatoes are a good pairing. Cream of Asparagus Soup 8/10 -This was the soup of the day. I was skeptical of this soup simply because I've never had an asparagus soup. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the taste. It wasn't too overwhelming, it was a creamy soup with a good ratio of asparagus. It was a purée so the consistency was very smooth. read more

Amazing experience as first time customers last night at Sweet Breads. First off, the place is a VIBE. I love the ambiance. I had made a reservation so we were seated timely and our server was very nice. Actually, we were greeted by several staff members which was so nice. They serve beer and wine (no liquor) so I enjoyed a glass of the Malbec. As for entrees, we ordered the Eggplant Parm and Trout. Both were generous portions and very tasty. The house made rolls that come with the salad are to die for..we had to order extras. The real star of the show was our dessert - the Blueberry BBC Cake. I have never tasted a more scrumptious cake in my life. I cannot wait to return for brunch soon. P.S. While traveling through the area near lunch time, we were lucky enough to find this gem. We had no reservation, but only had to wait about 15 min. Which gave us time to take in the interesting and eclectic decor. SO COOL!! So many neat touches, from the pillows along the seating that runs down the wall, the ceiling dragon and clouds....even the bathrooms were funky, offering mouthwash, how nice! They even had a 4 seat bar. The staff was all friendly and BIZ-EEEE. We wondered if their fit bits could keep track of the amount of steps they were taking. We were seated out back on the deck which was enclosed and had a nice fire column. We had a peach mimosa, yum and not too sweet. The coffee though, was hands down the best we've ever had at a restaurant. And we love coffee. lol We had read how great the Reuben is, so got that and smoked salmon eggs benedict. Both presented beautifully, premium fruit was a lovely touch. The Benedict was delicious, the eggs a perfect poach. Potatoes nice and crispy. Just going to be honest about the Reuben, it was good but not great to our personal taste. The meat was kinda chopped into the kraut, and a little scarce. That being said, we still ate every bite. Our server was a delight, but we waited what seemed like a very long time to get our food. They were super busy though, I only mention that so you can plan accordingly to enjoy your time while you wait for the tasty meals. Go if you get the chance, I wish we lived closer! read more

Came on a Friday night and didn't have a reservation, so had dinner somewhere else.. but we are staying walking distance from sweet breads so we decided to get our dessert to go! They had so many options and we got enough to feed an army! Enough for our party of four...plus leftovers!!! We got: - A lemon bar and key lime bar (my husband's favorite) -frut trifle (my favorite) not sure what crazy person thought of putting that on the menu... But I am serious HERE for it!!! Huge fan of trifles and have never seen it on a menu..this alone is 5 star in my book! -Baklava -Two types of brownies Everything was amazing! The waitress was awesome and was willing to help us know what everything was, and was quick to get us all taken care of! They boxed everything really well and even labeled what was in what box... I got an omelet w home fries. Home fries, potatoes, right? These were amazing. Asked the server why. The chef grows his own herbs. The potatoes had sage salt on them. what?!?! I came here for Sunday Brunch and it was awesome! The staff here was very friendly and they gave us great recommendations for the best foods. We started off with some exceptional Beignets with a chocolate ganache. I tried the Ham and Mushroom Omelette, Ruben sandwich, and Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict. The Ruben was hands down the best I have ever had! For dessert we tried a large variety of their showcase items including Mint, Blueberry, Almond Coconut Brownies, and a Baklava. Sweet Breads was a highlight on our short trip to GA & NC. Excellent for brunch, I'd describe the cuisine as southern eclectic. Service was especially nice. A baby near us was crying a lot, and a server was nice enough to discreetly drop a note on our table offering us alternate seating. I found this gem of a restaurant due to my mother being hospitalized just up the road. A quick google search for nearby restaurants put this at the top of the list - and for good reason! This place is simply sublime! First, the decor and the old brick building are exquisite. The interior of this eatery is a veritable feast for the eyes! I found everybody who worked here to be fantastic, warm and friendly as can be. Add to that superb cuisine and you've got a hat trick for a dining experience! The fare is, as much as can be, locally sourced and house made. The cuisine was familiar yet distinctive - think southern but elevated without being pompous. I've dined here twice - once for a late lunch and the other for brunch. There are 2 different menus and they are subject to change due to availability of ingredients. For lunch I had the Croque Monsieur and it is what brought me back to try brunch. The orange Dijon in this sandwich was so perfect - what a brilliant combination along with the ham! The orange flavor added just the right amount of sweetness to the ham but the Dijon cut it just enough that it didn't overpower it. The buttermilk roll this was served on was superb, too. I paired this with a cup of tomato basil soup and it had to be the best tomato basil soup I've ever tasted! Such a complex and hearty soup. For brunch, I opted for the corned beef hash and with all the chunks of corned beef and potatoes, it was hearty and delicious. I added 2 poached eggs and that just added to the savory combination! Also, the biscuit and gravy were to die for! The texture of the biscuit was perfect - crunchy on the outside and light, fluffy and airy on the inside. Even though I am nowhere near local, I will happily return to Sweet Breads! read more

While visiting my family in Northeast GA for the holidays, I was in dire need of a good Sunday brunch so my mother and I decided to try Sweet Breads. We were so impressed with the atmosphere and freshness of the food that we cannot wait to return! Everything on the menu sounded so great, but we ended up both getting the Sweet Breads Breakfast Entree -- eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon and a homemade biscuit with gravy. We split a plate of the beignets as a starter which were delivious!! I'll definitely be ordering the beignets next time I go back for brunch! My second meal at Sweet Breads was as good as the first. I set out on the outdoor patio which was lovely. A very beautiful spot to enjoy a cocktail and friends or just indulge your taste buds in a delicious meal which is exactly what I did. I started with a Mango Mimosa. It was so refreshing and a beautiful compliment to the outdoor ambiance. For lunch I order the soup of the day and sandwich. The soup was a delicious blend of sweet Red Pepper and pumpkin as the primary flavors along with the smoothness of cream. Believe me, I cleaned that bowl out! For my main course I had Croque Monsieur sandwich and a side of pasta salad. Everything was so fresh tasting and thoughtfully prepared! I truly enjoyed every bite. Let me start by saying that the ambiance and staff was great! There was live music when we went, and the singer and guitarist did wonderfully. However, the food left much to be desired. My boyfriend ordered an 8oz steak with sides for $35. The one received was not only under seasoned and over cooked, but was also the TINIEST steak I have EVER seen served in a restaurant! I didn't have a scale with me, but if I had my guess is that it would have come in at 4oz, half the advertised size. I ordered a chicken Alfredo pasta dish, and though it was a healthy portion, it was bland and mushy. My suggestion: stick with easier food to prepare, with a significantly smaller price tag, or try a different restaurant. The food here is NOT worth the price. read more

I've lived in demorest for just over a year and I finally got a chance to try this place! The decor is interesting, something every review about this place writes about, but it isn't bad! The atmosphere is very relaxing, and the food was very good. I had the Huevos Rancheros and my boyfriend had the Stuffed French Toast. Both were very good, even if I was wishing for a bit more flavor and spiciness from the chorizo. Our server, Jatasha, was incredibly friendly and hands down the best part of our brunch experience. This darling breakfast place has me mixed in reviews. The atmosphere was lovely. Staff was so friendly. It was Valentines morning and most of the place was reservation with personalized place holders for the reserving party. Nice little touches to make you feel welcome. You feel like you are in a little art gallery. The decor of colorful pieces and flare was fun. The food was good but pricey. My husband had the corned beef breakfast. Biscuit topped with chipped corned beef and milk gravy; two over easy eggs top off this plate. Everything was good but heavy on the inexpensive ingredients like gravy and light on the beef. Plate cost was $18. I ordered the crepes. Order came with two crepes topped with creme and jam. The crepes were stuffed with cottage cheese and lemon-lime zest. The filling was thin and I did not taste the zest. I would have loved the cottage cheese to be lightly mixed with lemon curd to bring out the flavor of the cottage cheese. Served with non standard fresh fruit. The food was decent but pricey. The staff was wonderful and decor artsy. Check out the beautiful bathrooms! They have a mouthwash station that raised the level of hospitality for a restroom. A good place to visit on vacation but could justify eating here often. read more

This is probably my favorite nice-casual restaurant in the Habersham area. The service is always top notch, the staff is attentive and kind and the owners are so great and welcoming. The food is unique, fresh, and delicious. I have been for lunch, dinner, and brunch. Brunch is probably my favorite and I always have a hard time deciding what to get everything is so good. You can go with the Sweetbreads breakfast entree and get a little bit of everything or the breakfast casserole is super hearty. I also love love love the quiche and the eggs Benedict are fabulous. The lunch and dinner menus are equally as good and bring in some new things to the area which I love. Dinner, I believe, is only on Friday nights but it's so worth planning around. There is live music and it's just a lovely experience. Finally, we went to brunch on Mother's Day and they had a brunch buffet, which I know they do on other special occasions and it was INCREDIBLE. Probably the best brunch experience I've ever had. They had ever option you could want on the buffet and also offered eggs Benedict and omelets from the kitchen and it included one of their homemade desserts. Went to Corneila, GA for a wedding and decided to try a local brunch spot before we headed home. I ordered the almond brioche french toast which was delicious my husband ordered the sweet bread bfast which consisted of two eggs, two slices of bacon, hash browns, small biscuits and gravy and fruit. His bacon was a little over done and the biscuits a little hard, but we asked yo have it corrected and the manager was super gracious and had the bacon and biscuits remade. very filling and yummy breakfast- coffee smooth and not too dark (medium roast which i love). I would definitely come back- atmosphere is relaxing and the place os decorated in such a kewl way that there is always something to catch your eye. read more
