I had Prosecco, brussel sprouts (that she recommended) and the shrimp and grits. So delish! The low country boil really looked good too. The staff even pour a birthday candle in the chocolate cake we ordered since we were celebrating a birthday. Nice touch. While we were dressed up, some people were in tshirts and shorts. I'm giving it 2 stars only for the oysters! They were a delicious starter. Seafood here is decent, but I was highly disappointed with the service from our waitress as well as one of the dishes we ordered. The waitress had an attitude and did not make any good recommendations. Anything we wanted to ask about on the menu, she would deter us from it. I noticed that her attitude got worse after the manager (or maybe he was the owner) checked on us. He was super nice, but she acted like we were bothering her from the minute we got seated. Can't remember her name but she was short and had curly hair. Anyhow, as far as the food goes - like I said the oysters were excellent. The pasta dishes we ordered were not. Shrimp carbonara was OK, pork belly just wasn't crispy as it stated on the menu. But the dish we really had an issue with was the Thai Coconut Noodles...the sauce was sooo sweet, it wasn't Thai coconut, and whoever made this never tasted Thai food in their life before. I couldn't eat the pasta at all and only ate the protein I added on top. The waitress noticed I didn't eat my food, but didn't care and just gave me a confused look as she took my plate away. I needed to try somewhere new in Dahlonega and 19° North was on the list. I opted to sit outside because it's scorching hot and I didn't want to take a full table from a larger party. Plus it provided great people watching off the square! I was sat at a clean outdoor table. There was a roof overhead with fans so it was nice and shady. Aidan promptly took my drink order & offered to answer any questions I had about the menu. Per his recommendation, I ordered the Low Country Boil. While I waited for my well-paced food, my table neighbors and I chatted. It was really lovely! Aidan presented the food and it was quite the presentation! A big bowl, bag o' Boil, a bib, extra napkins, and a wet wipe. Beautiful! The boil at first looked small but upon opening, it was generally portioned with at least 16 shrimp (that were perfectly cooked), red potatoes, & corn on the cob. I could've added dungeness crab for an additional $25. It was not hot-spicy but it was well-seasoned with Old Bay. It was delicious!!! Aiden kept my drinks filled & cold. He even offered a to-go drink. He was attentive & on point. I'd ask for him by name next time- he was a fantastic server!!! I'll bring my hubby back next time. This is always one of my favorite places to visit in downtown Dahlonega. They have an amazing menu and their seafood dishes are great. Their staff is always polite and accommodating to the customers that I have witnessed upon my visits. The seaside resort atmosphere is a great break from the fast food scenes that are near. Visit was a bit of a mixed bag. Overall enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Only one server for the whole lower level of the restaurant who seemed, understandably, a bit overwhelmed. I ordered the pecan & Bleu salad with salmon added. When it came I realized I had not ordered a dressing for the salad. There was a cup of a thick substance, which I assumed was dressing, I tasted it and did not care for it. I ended up just eating the salad bare. I ordered the upcharge side of waffle sweet potato fries because I thought the maple mustard dipping sauce sounded good, but it came without the sauce and I had to ask for it. I really do not know what all the fuss is about. This place is bad. I ordered 4 oysters rock, a calamari app and 2 miller lites, $44 plus tip. The oysters were woefully inconsistent. You would think the kitchen can prep 4 oysters in the same way. One oyster had no spinach, tasty sauce or Pernod. The next 2 oysters had little spinach, no tasty sauce and one of them included a touch of Pernod. The last oyster was perfection: generous spinach, tasty sauce but I could not taste the Pernod, I did not miss it on that oyster. I will say that the bread crumbs topping each oyster was generous and tasty. $14 for 4 oysters, never again. A coupe next to me, regulars, loved the oysters but confessed that the prep is "always" inconsistent across each oyster - they ordered a dozen (was that really $56). The calamari was pitiful. The rings were sliced about 1/4 or 1/3 of an inch wide and fried until any moisture and succulentness was long gone. The dipping sauce was ordinary and uninspiring. $13 for the squid. The kitchen mistreated expensive seafood ingredients without care. The beers were $7 for a 16 ounce draft. read more

Ok, so first of all, let's address that this restaurant is located in a historic area of downtown Dahlonega, GA. I want to address this because they have pseudo outdoor seating upstairs that allows you to look out over the town with a really nice view. I'm told that during Christmas, the town is lit up with lights and it's just beautiful. The scenery is quite enjoyable- even when nothing is decorated, so I'm somewhat interested in checking the place out again when the decorations go up! The restaurant is clean and tidy, the seating is decent, plenty of tables for a crowd, and the decor inside is reserved, but somewhat niche. I did not take pictures, but I'm sure someone already has since this place has been around for a minute. THE FOOD was awesome. I always enjoy a good battered french fry, even if they are frozen. They were nice and crispy and I didn't need them to be dipped in any kind of sauce. I love it when fries don't need sauce. I ordered the Wagyu burger without banana peppers and without their Krussian sauce. (I'm told that the Krussian sauce is similar to thousand island sauce.) I just went with mayo. The burger comes on a flavorful pretzel bun, which was not overshadowed. The Wagyu burger, itself, Is a Smashburger, so they don't need to ask you how you want your burger cooked. One thing that I love about smash burgers is that they have texture to the meat. It came with a lovely crispy edge all around both patties. The Gouda was mild, but -again- wasn't overshadowed. The grilled onions were a nice addition. In hindsight, the banana peppers might've been pretty good on this burger. I'm just not much of a banana pepper fan, overall. The one drawback to this burger is that it is a VERY greasy. However, a napkin solves that problem quite simply. If you haven't tried their Wagyu burger, you really are missing out! Another fantastic dish that I had was the coastal clam chowder. It was super hearty and very rich. Honestly, it was the best clam chowder I've had in years. I love that there are potatoes and bacon in it. It's hard to distinguish whether it's clam chowder or loaded potato soup. Both are favorites of mine and that makes this a fantastic win! Next time I come, I am getting the full bowl. My mom had the fried oysters and the fried scallops along with hush puppies and some sweet potato waffle fries. As far as I could tell, the waffle fries are the standard frozen type but she enjoyed them just fine. Personally, I do not get why anyone would like a fried oyster- or for that matter, oysters in general. However, she loved them and enjoyed every last bit of her plate. She offered me one, but I said, absolutely not. The scallops did look quite good, even though they were fried, they looked quite juicy, which means the kitchen knows what they're doing. The fried haddock and shrimp looked good as well. The haddock was quite juicy on the inside, and the shrimp were huge. The portion sizes here are fantastic. One might look at the price and feel it's a little heavy, but once you get your plate, you'll realize that the value for the money is really great. My mother actually commented on this when she realized that she had "enough fried oysters to satisfy" her craving. She commented that she usually has to order more because other places just don't give you enough of them. For the three of us it was $111 after tip. Yes, this is a little bit pricey, but it was worth it. The food is delicious, the service is great, and the restaurant has an awesome view! Definitely hit this place up if you want a quality meal that's also filling! read more

It's been a few months, but if I remember right, the bill was right about $120 for two people! Everything was delicious. The cocktails were fabulous. I had a Mojito with fresh mint.! It is a seafood restaurant. I'm allergic to seafood and they flagged my meal and they informed me they cook their seafood in a separate oil ! Anything breaded and fried that's not seafood goes into a clean oil fryer!!! That alone is impressive enough to tell you to go go go! The balcony is on the second floor, it overlooks the historic part of the town of Dahlonega. The weather was amazing It was very pleasant.. The inside seating had typical seafood restaurant decor like fish on the wall and netting and starfish . Nautical themes throughout with port windows and ropes. I have to tell you it's a restaurant I would've never picked myself, but it was my friend's birthday and I insisted she pick the restaurant and it was such a happy surprise. I will definitely return. I would bring my husband and he would enjoy the seafood and I can enjoy my non-seafood dinner knowing I wouldn't accidentally be poisoned! lol the struggle is real at most restaurants, but not at this place! We popped in to 19 Degrees for lunch. 19 Degrees is a cool little seafood restaurant right in the historic district of Dahlonega. The restaurant had only one waitress working downstairs, so service was a little slow. But, our waitress was very apologetic and gave us a heads up when we sat down (it was also her first week on the job). I ordered the 1833 Gold Lager which is a local beer made in Dahlonega. We just had dinner at 19 Degrees North in Dahlonega, it was our 4th or 5th time eating there. We have always had a very good experience. Our waitress tonight was Marina and she is definitely the best waitress we have had at 19 north, and all of the staff is super nice and we love that the owner comes around to all of the tables just to check in. We drive an hour to eat there, and it is definitely worth the drive. Although 19 Degrees North has been a Dahlonega staple for years, I had taken a hiatus for a couple of years due to lack of food consistency and lack of good service, BUT these guys have turned it around! We were treated excellent by the hostess, and she hastily took us to the upstairs patio while wearing a great attitude. Our server, Abigayle, took our drink order quickly and promptly brought them out. She also had a great attitude and added in some great conversation with our table. We did the coconut tai fish and the crab cakes, and these dishes were hot, perfectly seasoned, and they tasted so good. As a note, they had a bottle of Blanton's at the bar, so a pour was necessary to wrap up the night. Go see these folks and see what the buzz is all about! read more

I went most recent trip because it was one of the few restaurants that is open on Monday or Tuesday in town. It didn't disappoint! I debated trying it the last time I went to Dahlonega but wound up going elsewhere. I ate at the bar. The service was excellent, the staff is fun and friendly. The atmosphere is very good. I had the baked scallops and they were amazing. The The Baked scallops, (on the menu as Coquilles St. Jacques) is cooked with white wine, cream, mushrooms, herbed breadcrumbs. It was small but filling. The sides were amazing as well! The maple-mustard Brussel sprouts were some of the best Brussel sprouts I have ever had, and the mashed potatoes were decent. This is a good seafood place, it's reasonably priced, has a fairly big menu, extremely friendly and helpful service plus it's located in a cool, older house with some great outdoor seating over looking the old, Dahlonega courthouse (now a museum). I enjoyed my meal, it's not top-notch quality but mostly really good and was a good deal for the money. I really enjoyed the scallops, shrimp and oysters but the hot crab and shrimp dip appetizer didn't meet my expectations. Our waiter was Ben and he was excellent, quick service, very friendly and made sure we were having a good time. We sat on the porch and watched the crowds go by. We ordered the raw oysters and crab cake for an appetizer. We are from Florida and I can say the BEST oysters ever. Crab cake was amazing! The place is very inviting and kinda weird for a seafood restaurant to be in the mountains of north Ga. The service at best was mediocre, had to ask the kitchen help for refills. The food was awful at best. When we got back home three of us had bad abdominal cramping and diarrhea for most of the night and we all had the same thing except one, who did not get sick. Was told there was a change in ownership and management. I would not recommend this place. My son has severe food allergies and cannot have seed oils, gluten and needs quality meat cooked and butter. Not only were they able to provide this for us. They were incredibly kind and thorough and making sure everything was to the standards that we needed it to be. It was one of the most delicious meals we have ever had out & most hospitable staff we have encountered. They cooked my son's steak in butter separate from any other food. I was so grateful for such a delicious meal and such a caring staff. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone, especially anyone who has any dietary needs. Their menu was also incredibly clear on what is gluten-free and 90% of the menu was gluten-free, which is such a treat for anyone with allergies. We drove up from Atlanta on a weekday to view the leaves turn near-peak and drive the twisting roads in North Georgia. We turned off of GA400 shortly after the traditional lunch hour, and so drove into Dahlonega to get a bite to eat before heading to Suches and beyond. Checked the menus of 4 restaurants and settled on 19 Degrees North. Excellent Red Pepper Crab Bisque. I ordered a cup, but once I tasted it realized a bowl would have been the superior choice. I ordered the basket, with simmered shrimp and scallops. The shrimp was good; the scallops were as good as anything I've ordered in Charleston, and Atlanta Chops Lobster Bar. Highly recommended a double or triple of it. My spouse ordered Shrimp and Grits. She loved it, and insisted that I share the pork portion, which I later realized because it is quite delicious...and spicy. Harrison...I hope it's okay to mention his name here, oversaw our order, and shared his opinions on what we considering, which turned out to be spot-on. He was great. Try it. Had the best birthday dinner here! This is by far the most impressive restaurant I've been to since moving to the North Ga area, and I'm pretty hard to please after living in a very foodie city for the last decade. My eyes were bigger than my stomach, and I wanted to try just about everything, but settled on the Thai grouper for my main, and it did not disappoint. Excellent combination of flavors. We got the shrimp & crab gratin as a starter - also delicious. My parents loved their scallop and shrimp platters as well, and we ordered a side of truffle fries just for kicks and those were great. Shout out to the bartender for being a fun guy and also actually knowing how to make my preferred drink (mezcal Negroni). Great service, excellent food, and good vibes all around. overall, 3 stars. this is a very cute place. It's got a nice set up with indoor and outdoor seating with multiple levels. There's a bar in the back porch but kind of small. We started with the shrimp and avocado/sauce appetizer, which was delicious. My husband got a beer and we were hanging out upstairs inside with the TVs on, which was amazing. There's a bar upstairs as well. I got the Cobb salad, which was not that good in my opinion, I don't like their dressings very much. I did get the clam chowder, which was kind of watery, i expected to be a little thicker. Prices are ok. My husband got the pasta with shrimp in it which was average/good, but not great. I would also say that the service was rather slow and we didn't see our server for a long time sometimes. It's in a really fun location. There's lots of shopping around there and there's actually lots of restaurants too. We were just interested in some seafood. They do have a lot more options. Maybe next time I would get something different but honestly I would probably try some other place because there's tons of places.! read more

I ordered the fried oyster and fries lunch special. It was exactly what I hoped it would be, decent fries and really good oysters. My friend order a shrimp and pasta dish and was also happy with his meal. We had an apparently inexperienced waiter who was probably a student at UNG. He was unintentionally, no doubt, kind of funny. They rotate their selection of draft beer regularly so you need to ask what they have. I asked if they had a lager. He pulled out his list and read them off. Our waiter was clearly not a beer enthusiast. He listed a number of IPAs (he thought) and said "the Los Bravos may be a lager, let me ask." He came back and said, "we don't have a draft lager." I asked what kind of beer the Los Bravos was and he responded, "we don't have it so it really doesn't matter what kind of beer it is." Alrighty then. We got a laugh.
