I don't usually post about bad experiences, but tonight was one of those nights where I'm hoping I can save someone else the frustration we experienced tonight. Tonight was our final attempt at giving Pings another chance, and unfortunately it was even worse than the last time. We called more than 24 hours in advance to let them know we'd be bringing a large party. During that phone call they were so appreciative, would be sure to let the staff know, and would be sure to have a table set up for us outside. Once we arrived today, that completely changed and were told "it doesn't matter what you were told" and were completely dismissed by the manager. The manger actually said, you can wait, or leave. We decided to wait, even though we were already treated horribly just trying to check in. After waiting over 30 minutes to be seated, we were then told they didn't care that we were a party of 12 -- we were not allowed to move the outside tables together so we could sit as a group. This was after our previous visit, where we waited over an hour just to be seated, and then another hour for mediocre food. We genuinely hoped things would improve after they reopened, but the service and food are somehow worse than before. Save your time and your money. There are too many great local restaurants that actually value their customers. read more

We went on a road trip with a church group and our destination was Ping's Grill and Lake. It was a great experience. The food was pretty good. Just sandwiches and things and the clubhouse was really nice to visit. It was a quick day trip. We'd like to do it again sometime. We shared a Philly cheese steak sandwich and it was dry and not much flavor. We had the fried asparagus and received 3 very tiny pieces not what we're expecting. read more

Cute out of the way place. Beautiful veiws of a small lake. My husband had the pimento burger. It comes with jalapeños, bacon and strawberry jelly. He only wanted the pimento but put the jelly on the side. He tried alittle and loved it with the jelly! MIL had shrimp and said it was very fresh and seasoned well. I had the French dip. Awesome food! Best fries anywhere... Crispy, neither too thick nor too thin. Seasoned just right. I had the fried green tomatoes and crab cakes. That was good. For the tomatoes, they could get more creative and replace the ranch with something else. My spouse had the fish sandwich. It was good but would have been better with a buttered and toasted bun. The live music was great... Hendrix, Santana, Clapton, and more of that genre. We didn't get beverages. $37.00 for the 2 of us. Ambiance would have been better if the blinds were open so we could see the lake. read more

Four of us went for lunch last week. Two of us had the Turkey Rueben which was very good. I had the sweet potato fries with mine and my friend had onion rings. My mother had grilled shrimp and a salad with blue cheese dressing. She commented that the dressing didn't have much taste. The fourth in our party had the Chef's salad which was huge. It would benefit from being served in a large bowl rather than a plate (it was that big) so it could be mixed easily. All in all it was a lovely lunch. read more

We were in the area coming back from a winery and were recommended to stop for lunch at Ping's. What a great recommendation!!!! The service was great and the food was even better. The ambiance was pleasant considering it was in the middle of a golf course. Very friendly staff and made you feel at home. Bathrooms were five star!! Cleanest bathrooms I have been in in a while. We started off with the fried green tomatoes which were fresh and delicious. Keep the sauce it comes with for the rest of your meal. We then had the fried fish and chicken basket, pulled pork sandwich, and the ribeye sandwich. The fried fish was incredible and so soft and flakey. Chicken strips were straight out of the fryer and were definitely not your run of the mill frozen chicken strips. The winner of the meal believe it or not was the coleslaw!!!!!! By far the best coleslaw we have ever had. So much so, we asked for the recipe....sweet and vinegary with a great crunch. If I could take home a tub of the coleslaw, I would. Overall, Ping's is a must try if you are in the Toccoa area. 8.3 out of 10!!!!! read more

If you want something different than the typical fast food or chain restaurants that Toccoa has to offer - don't need to step too far out of the city at this fun little place. About a mile outside of the city nestled on lake Toccoa you'll find Ping's - adequately named since it's a golf course restaurant. This place serves your typical bar food fare, burgers, wings, soups, salads - but they do serve it fresh, and have a great patio and also a few TVs to catch the game on that Saturday or Sunday. I had the burger and wings - I'd give the wings 5 star and the burger a 3.5 Fresh fries were fresh, hot and crispy. There's a pool table located in the main room along with a fireplace. Great place to catch a game, have a game, and coze up with someone ya love. They serve drinks by the bottle and wines. Pricing is pretty fair, burger was about 8$ if that gives you an idea. What about this place was good? Nothing! Horrible service , saw waitress at ordering and bringing food and both of those times were over. 30 minutes. Had to get our own ketchup and bill and was never asked for refills. We couldn't eat the all you can eat fish! The fish and fries smelled burnt and tasted like old oil. Never going back!! read more

My favorite restaurant, maybe ever, when considering ambience. Huge fireplace, on the water, outdoor seating, large round family tables. Add to that their homemade chips and pimento cheese and you have the best experience! Oh, and all their other food is great as well. My kids love their burgers and wings. I'm a fan of the Philly cheesesteak. Definitely a must visit! read more

NEVER AGAIN! We ordered food and went to pick it up. 5 small chicken fingers, fries, and a drink were over $17.50. On the website, the chicken finger basket is $10.50. I didn't see the drink prices, but it was smaller than a medium at Chick-fil-a is $3.50. There is a 20% fee/tip for the waitress who i talked to for 1 minute and did not ring me up. When I went in, no one was at the door. I went to the bar, two peopke ignored me, so I addressed the third person. Also, they give you a tiny, half full cup of honey mustard. Stingy and a rip off. Chicken fingers are better than most. Fries are average. I wont be back. read more

Fabulous food for a good price with nice outdoor seating and view of the lake. Portions are good, sweet tea and fried green tomatoes delicious, menu has many choices. Wish they offered a gluten free bun, black bean burger had great flavor. Definitely get the onion rings as a side. Will be back when back up here in the fall. read more

When I walked in it was kind of plain a few tables and a bar. Went to the patio which over looks the golf course and lake, very nice setting for an early summer dinner. Food isn't anything fancy, basic bar food; burgers, wings, chicken tender, etc. Overall nice low-key place to have dinner. read more

If you're ever in Toccoa, check out Ping's Grill! The restaurant is located by the lake with a huge golf course nearby. Really nice scenery! Also FYI, PING is the restaurant dog mascot, who casually walks around the premises just FYI. ANYWAYS, to the important stuff, food is great! I definitely recommend getting the PING Burger! It has pimento cheese (less pimento, more cheese), on a half pound angus beef, which is great. I got it with fries and everything tasted good! I was looking for some local fare while on a work trip to the area. I settled on Ping's for a chance of a great view on a beautiful spring evening. The view did not disappoint. The food, on the other hand, was a let down. I was craving some pub style food, so I went with the always healthy fried pickle chips and boneless wings. The pickles came out first, and were ok. There was not too much flavor in the breading, and the pickles themselves did not have much of a dill snap to them. I was hoping for better on the boneless wings. I ordered them in a few different flavors to get a good variety. When they came out, you could tell just by the shape it was frozen out of a bag. It actually looked just like a bigger chicken nugget. I have had some really good frozen, pre-made wings before, so I just chuckled at the shape. The first one I bit into almost made me stop there. I honestly have no idea what flavor the sauce was supposed to be. The BBQ? The Bourbon? Maybe the Mango Habenero? There was not much sauce on any of the wings, and what was there was kind of flat and didn't hold much flavor. The boneless wing itself was the worst I had ever eaten. The meat was not the whole chunk of white meat chicken I expected. It had the consistency of chipboard, and probably not much more flavor (I don't eat chipboard, so I am assuming a lot here). It did not hold it's shape in your mouth and it just fell apart. It was disgusting. I thought it might be a fluke, so I tried another "flavor". This one was a bourbon one, but I could only tell that because it smelled a little like bourbon. Again, no taste from the sauce or the "chicken". I tried one more just to see if it was the mango habenero. Who knows. After 3 wings out of a full dozen, I was done. The best part of the meal was the celery that came with the boneless wings. When the waitress came out, I told her that she could take the rest of them back, and she did not even ask how I liked them. They had a large table inside, so I am sure their focus was on them. I paid my bill in full and left. On the way back to the hotel I stopped in at a chain fast food place for some ice cream, and I know I could have spent 1/2 of what I did and gotten better boneless wings there. *shrug* I have seen a big advertisement for their wing night on Wednesdays. They seem to get a lot of traffic from that (from overhearing the cook talking to some other customers), so maybe their traditional wings are better. Either way, I will be hard pressed to recommend them to co-workers if they are even in the area. read more
