One of the friendliest spots in Toccoa, the staff here have always been so warm and accommodating, my toddler loves to pop in for ice cream and more there . Classic diner feel, menu items are no frills but tasty , friendly to your wallet, and made quick. Haven't tried breakfast there yet but looking forward to it. If you find yourself in downtown Toccoa it's a great spot to take a load off. read more

Stopped in on a road trip. The atmosphere is definitely an old style diner. We both ordered the hamburger. It was the best burger I have had in a long time. Locals came in and were known by name. We were a bit hesitant when first looking over the menu but everything was fresh and had the "made with love" factor. Simple food done simply. It was delightful to the taste buds!! read more

I went in for Saturday breakfast with a friend. He had a sausage egg and cheese biscuit with coffee. He said the biscuit was top notch and the coffee was fresh. I had the 2 egg breakfast with bacon and sausage gravy and added 2 pancakes with a sweet tea.The food was amazing and the closest I have had to my grandmothers cooking. The staff couldn't not have been any more friendly even if we were family. They spoke to everyone that came in and treated everyone so well. read more

Today I stopped by the Rebel Café with my two daughters for a late lunch (roughly 2:45pm). It took 40 min to get our food, not impressed. With that being said my waitress Jenna was extremely kind and felt badly regarding not just how long it took to get our food but other customers as well (why its two stars instead of one). A nice diner in downtown Toccoa but the cooking and serving of food needs to take no longer than 20 minutes. I was ready to cancel our order but decided not to solely because of Jenna. v/r read more

It's so sad to see a restaurant turn so dramatically but unfortunately that seems to be the case. My original 5 star review has been amended with the original review still present, and here's why... Update: My wife, daughter, and I walked into The Rebel Cafe today and we noticed we were the only ones there, odd for 12:40pm. We ordered a hotdog and chips for our daughter, my wife a Bahn Mi (pork and pickled Asian vegetable slaw) sandwich, and myself the Cuban which I raved about in my original review. The waitress had to look at the menu to accurately write out our order which was odd. 25 minutes later the hot dog and bag of chips came out. 25 minutes. Hers was the first out by about 5 minutes so it wasn't held back to all serve together. I can only guess that the flat top was off when we walked in. My wife's sandwich came out with chunks of precooked however cold pork and your standard mayo based coleslaw instead of a pickled Asian vegetable slaw. My Cuban consisted of rye bread (not Cuban bread), tough and crunchy cubes of precooked pork, a small amount of ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard. Fries were unseasoned. It was disappointing and offputting. We did not notice the cook wearing gloves and she handled the money as well. The cook asked how everything was and we were honest although apprehensive to discuss it in front of the two other couples that had walked in since our arrival. The discrepancies were passed off as a change in ownership (not the case) to which I showed her this Yelp review and she read. She also stated that the pork used was from several days earlier. With that I left a 25% tip and we left. Please let me know if you change back to the old ways. I also can no longer verify the validity of the veteran owned and operated status. 27Feb2017 Update: I'm currently being harassed by someone named "Kevin" under the account of Debbie M. The same person that posted the picture of the menu. Original Review: Stopped in as my daughter and I were walking down the street. Just relaunched under new ownership several weeks ago. Nice interior that is reminiscent of an old time cafe/diner with seating outside as well. I ate the Cuban sandwich with seasoned fries and my daughter had the grilled cheese with cheddar and it was big. That Cuban was amazing I might add. The sweet tea is also amazing. Not a bad place; staff is very friendly and the owner, Hannah, was on point to provide a wifi password and be personable. They were out of Pecan Chicken salad, but it was only their second week there. I will plan to go back once they settle in. Never went to The Rebel (former restaurant name), so I don't know how it compares. read more

We were in town this past Sunday with a train from NC. We stopped in because there was a street fair and we wanted to be able to sit and eat. They were overrun with customers and had only the person running the grill and one waitress who was also having to chase after her two-year old appearing son who cried a lot. The poor waitress was so busy that we wrote up our order on an order pad for her. We both ordered the classic or American (can't recall what it was called) because we just wanted a normal burger. I asked for only lettuce, tomato and pickles on mine and, in order to be very clear about the "only", I also wrote in all caps and underlined "NO MAYO". My husband said he would take his how it comes, but with NO MAYO. I thought that was really clear. We were close enough to the grill to see what was happening and I could see that cheese was being placed on both burgers. Because they were so busy, and because it was melting cheese, I thought I would not make a big deal of it. However, I also watch the person on the grill swipe a large dose of mayo on each of two top buns and, after waiting a good while, they were served to us. Sure enough, there was the pus sticking out of the burger. We pointed this out and were given new tops for the burgers. As the burgers were being made, the grill person went to the refrigerator in the back and came back to the grill with a full wrapped head of iceberg lettuce such as you get at the grocery store. Then I hear chopping, but NEVER heard any water run to either rinse the lettuce or was his hands. YUCK! After being served the burger, I bit into it and found that it was not cooked all the way through. Yuck! Since we had waited so long and because they were so busy, I just ate around the edge and left the rest. I know that they were short-handed because the grill person mentioned that he was sorry and that two people had called in that morning that they would not be there. I hope that the owner has sense enough to tell those people not to ever come back to work and, if the grill person is the owner, he should shut the business long enough to reorganize what he is doing. If the owner is not either the grill person or the waitress, I wonder why he or she was not there on Sunday too. This place definitely needs to be looked at from a sanitary standpoint. No counters were wiped, nor tables. I know that the poor waitress was running her head off, but she likely lost a lot of tip money Sunday due to poor management of the restaurant. read more

Don't waste your time. The decor was cute, but the food was barely mediocre and the service was dismal. The menu had no item descriptions, and the waitress had no idea what the items were. There were only 2 other customers in the restaurant, and it took over 30 minutes for basic burgers, hot dogs, and fries. When the food finally arrived it was bland and flavorless. When the bill arrived it was over $40 for burgers, hot dogs, and fries for 4 people. Overall an extremely disappointing experience. read more

This restaurant is horrible. The service was poor and the food was absolutely nasty. When the waitress brought out the french fries, she said, "I'm sorry for the wait, but we were waiting on the fries. We just pulled them up." The fries were stone cold.
