They have fall-off-the-bone and juicy ribs and brisket that you could just use a fork to separate the meat. My favorite sauces was the combination of Tangy and Heat sauces for that tangy spiciness. A few clarification first. This place is located in a tourist trap town so accept money will be spent. I also aggregate scored here I ordered the Burnt end balogna that was a 3 (stick to beef/bologna is bologna). Then I ordered a smoked bologna sandwich - that is a 2.5 to 3 (two big thick slices). The baked beans and mustard potato salad were very good though and the brisket sandwich was great so a 5 here. The wings were tender and also tasty - another 5. They are tangy in taste and the "hot" is not at all overpowering. read more

After leaving Cool River tubing, we needed some food to hold us over on the trip back to Atlanta. This place had ample free parking. Customer service was very friendly, helpful, and professional. The menu had lots of variety and many sides to choose from. We ordered and split the rib plate with two sides: collard greens and potato salad. While the collard greens had good texture and flavor, I added the Tangy bbq sauce which was heavily based in vinegar. The potato salad was okay. The lady who helped us with our order was very excited about everything on the menu: however, we didn't like blackberry cobbler. The brownies were more like dried muffins but came out the microwave perfect. The ribs were falling off the bone and the sweet BBQ complemented them perfectly. Borders on a 4 rating. Cute place, fulfills a bbq need for the town, fast service, in/out seating, convenient to the river, tubing area. Nice NOT to be in the crowded tourist area for a bit. I'd 5-star their Brunswick Stew! I ordered the special, the baked tater with pulled pork. It was huge and worked as 4 servings over a couple days in the hotel. The pork was "okay", not divine, not moist ( a lot of dried "bark" shreds). Biggest Concern was the many bbq bottles were empty, several tables had none, surprised at not keeping up with this as needed. Some tables were dirty tho' there appeared to be ample (friendly) staff. Price was tourist "high" at $15-ish for the "special". It is absolutely a decent place to eat for those who are "casual" about such things. Surprised no brat options but then again, most "brat" options were $22 to $25 in this town. Wet wipes would be a nice option too. The empty sauces and dirty tables for next guests dropped this rating significantly. read more

Great bbq in Helen! After getting out the river we decided to stop by for lunch since they're located right across the street from Cool Rivers. We honestly had very low expectations with Helen being such a touristy town but we were def in for a treat! The staff and even locals were super sweet and friendly. My husband can make friends everywhere but one of the locals was just extra friendly this visit and made us feel very welcomed. I forget what the special was this day but we got a little of everything plus the special. They also have mini melts for the kiddos. Y'all when I say EVERYTHING was good, everything was VERY GOOD. Maybe because we had low expectations, or we were hungry, or we were influenced by the friendliness, but we were extremely surprised. Everything was seasoned well, bbq'd well, cooked well. I don't normally order chicken because of the high percentage it will be dry, but i did and the chicken was divineee. Crispy smoky skin and juicy tender meat. Very well done. Ribs, amazing. If I had to complain about anything it would be the brisket. We ordered our brisket sliced though it came sliced/shredded and could have used a little more smoke. Though still very tasty. Upon walking out the ladies up front asked how our meal was and my husband told them it was "actually good". Poor verbiage on his part, APOLOGIES!, but our expectations were so low and Flying Pig just blew us out of the park we had no words. We stopped in for a cobbler. We waited 11 minutes for a scoop of something that was already premade. At the 7 minute mark the ride gal who took our order walked out and made eye contact with me. She said nothing and walked to the back. 4 minutes later she shoved a bag at me, no acknowledgement that she had forgot the order. We've eaten here many times and the food is mid at best. Real Southern Style BBQ in Helen, Ga.? You betcha, yes I was a little surprised but after looking at the reviews and photos on Yelp we decided to give these guys a try. We stopped in for a late lunch so as expected this place wasn't very busy, a few customers on the outdoor covered patio and a few inside in the A/C. We were met at the counter by the super friendly and amazing Taylor - so much pressure spontaneously ordering at the counter since there is a plethora of meats and sides so she suggested we grab a few menus and find a seat while we looked over the offerings. This restaurant is a beauty and so clean and offers a great environment to grab a great meal. Finally the decision is in and we were ready to place our orders with a mix of meats so we could share - Pulled Pork (it comes without sauce) which I prefer so I can choose the sauce I like big plus in my opinion, Smoked Sliced Turkey large portions sliced thick, melt in your mouth tender, moist and one of the best smoked Turkey I've had in ages, fries, coleslaw and mac n cheese served with Texas toast and bottomless drinks. All this delicious food and I paid less than I did for breakfast a few blocks up the road, the quality and value is here. I am so glad we stopped in it was a great experience and it checks all the boxes so why go Bavarian in Helen when you can have BBQ... This was our first Xmas in GA and we spent it in Helen - not a lot was open on Xmas day but the day after, we walked here after exploring the main thoroughfare in Helen. It's on the other side of the main street so definitely less crowds bc of that. It was an excellent choice - we all tried different items - pulled pork , rotisserie chicken and smoked carved turkey breast - all were so delicious - and wow oh wow the sweet potato waffle fries were soooo good. Prices were reasonable, hearty portions , cute place - so glad we had some good ol southern BBQ! read more

The food was great! The ribs fell of the bone and weren't excessively seasoned, the chicken wings (I had them plain to add my own sauce from the BBQ on the table), were cooked good and tasty. The pork was minced nicely but the flavor was just okay. The Cole slaw was delicious. The collard greens were horrible. They were cooked good but way under seasoned. My husband had the smoked turkey and he said it was mediocre. My friend had the platter special that brought ribs and some other meat and potato salad. She too, said it was just okay. We loved this place! The prices are fair and on par with BBQ places way down south where we're from, and not the south south, but south Florida. The side portions were smaller but INCREDIBLE. The food was hot, fresh, and ALL and I mean ALL of their sauces were AMAZINGGGGGGGG. We used literally all of them, i smeared the Alabama white allll over my bun, and dipped into the sweet, and the tangy sauces... THEN we dipped in the slop. I got the grilled cheese and fries, the ranch was really good. My friend got the brisket sandwich and fries and bbq chips. I would say paying $25 for the portions he got was not really a good price. My other friend got the pulled chicken sandwich. Safe to say the Mac and cheese was very interesting, looked more like peach cobbler than Mac and cheese and didn't taste good. The service was really good and accommodating, they let him exchange it for fries but included a whole new as well. We had a reunion of Submarine Veterans in Helen and I chose Pink Pig BBQ to provide the food for our picnic. There were 65 people in attendance so I needed a lot of food. The staff was easy to communicate with and made helpful suggestions on the correct quantity of food needed. Everything was ready for pick up on the planned day and the restaurant gave us a generous veterans discount which was much appreciated. Decided we'd check the place out because I love brisket and sweet potato fries. We were not disappointed. They have some of the best brisket I've ever eaten. When on vacation I never go to the same restaurant twice so we can shop around. Had to break that rule. Soooooo good. I love the garage doors in the front that open up to the patio. Came here for the first time on Friday to try this place out. The inside and outside seating and decor are quite lovely. It's extremely clean and upscale feeling for a bbq place. Tried their food and have some mixed reviews. The bologna burnt ends were tasty however they needed something else. I would have probably coating them in syrup or some maple with brown butter to get them sticky and coated so they're more of a sweet and smoky. The chicken burrito was quite good and was a highlight of the meal for sure and only 12$. The people I was with got the bbq pork sand which and the pork was very good However I feel the price and portion is off. Strangely enough I think they should charge 14-15$ instead of 12$ for the sandwhich and add more meat to make it a more filling meal. Definitely give this place a shot and try it out read more

My girlfriend and I stopped in here in between wine tastings. The location looks like a log cabin just outside of the Germantown of Helena. The staff was very friendly. The dining room had picnic tables. There was a self-serve area for their variety of losses. We got a number of meats. We also got a sampling of all of these sauces. Nothing was bad. The pulled pork was a little dry but had some good smoke flavor. The ribs pulled from the bone pretty cleanly though could have been trimmed or had the fat rendered a little bit more.
