The staff is very welcoming and friendly. the biscuits & gravy were some of the best I've ever had. If you're in Helen, Dottie's is worth the walk.

While driving thru Helen, GA decided to check this place out. We were not disappointed that is for sure. Set up like a cafeteria style service. Have many choices for each day's lunch. We had two meals today both of us had the Pot Roast and it was great and good quality not a lot of fat on this meat. My wife had the mashed potatoes with brown gravy and greens. Greens were very hot temperature wise and fantastic to eat. Also had the Cat Head Biscuit which she enjoyed. I had the Pot Roast with green beans and the Brunswick stew. Stew was fantastic and wonderful. Had the corn bread which was okay nothing to write home about. Staff was very helpful and having a good time and enjoying the work they are doing. Main cook is a Navy Veteran so stop by and thank her for her service. Great country vibe and wonderful hidden Gem in Helen, GA.

Fabulous breakfast! Best biscuit I've ever had! Warm food & filling. Loved the potatoes. Staff was friendly & service was quick. Pancake was particularly cakey - not necessarily bad but just cakey & crumbly.

Cottage House Restaurant - French Fries, Macaroni & Cheese, mashed potatoes

Stopped by Cottage House Restaurant in Cleveland and this place is exactly what you want if you're…read morelooking for a solid, no-frills Southern breakfast. First off, the setup is super easy. You walk in, grab a tray, and you've got options. You can go through the hot bar and get served right there, pay, and be on your way... or order off the menu, sit down, and they'll bring the food to you. Very simple and efficient. The inside is spacious with plenty of seating, and there's also outdoor seating if you want it. Parking is easy too, which is a big plus, especially compared to the chaos you'll run into closer to Helen. Food wise, I always judge breakfast spots by the chicken, egg, and cheese biscuit... and this one held up. The chicken was tender, the biscuit was soft and fresh, and overall it was a solid start. The surprise for me was the hashbrown casserole. It came out good, but once I added a little salt, the flavor really popped. Definitely worth getting. The pancakes were also done right... nice crispy edges with a soft, fluffy inside. That's exactly how pancakes should be. Menu wise, they've got everything you'd expect from a Southern breakfast spot... biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, country ham, pancakes, omelets, and even lunch style items like burgers and plate meals if you come later. They also have a Coca-Cola fountain, which is always a win. Service was friendly, especially for early morning, and the whole place just has that comfortable, old-school home cooking feel. There is also a drive thru if you don't feel like leaving your car. Overall, this is a great spot if you want a good breakfast without the crowds. Simple, tasty, and easy.

We ended up seeking it out b/c we wanted to watch college football. They have solid indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is right by the river. On the indoor side you have a very small bar but plenty of TVs around the establishment. The food is fine but nothing terribly special. But they do have a fair amount of beer on tap. The overall experience is solid. We were able to watch football, eat and drink beer. I suspect I will end up back here the next time I visit Helen. I'd suggest swinging by if you get the chance.

The burger was so dry it could have been made of dust. I ate about half of it, because I'm a man, and that's what we do...maybe it's dry on the outside, maybe the next bite is acceptable...nope not this time. My girlfriend had the Ruben. Tasted like nothing. You'd think you can't mess up a Reuben. Well, I was wrong. Meat tastes like newspaper. Also got some jalapenos poppers. Also gross. I've had frozen ones that are better. Only edible things were the pickle and ranch dressing. It's a shame because the ambience is SICK. The staff seemed to know it was bad. Don't go here

Absolutely would recommend -- and I already have!…read more The food was amazing, but the service? Phenomenal. Thank you, Lacy! You truly made our experience memorable. We will absolutely be back to see you. The atmosphere was sooooo inviting and welcoming -- the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable and excited to sit down and enjoy a great meal. Now let's talk about the real reason we'll be back... the FOOD. WOW. My nephew and his fiancée were visiting, so we made the drive from Atlanta up to Helen. We were completely indecisive about where to eat, but after reading the menu, we decided to give this place a try. Best decision ever -- because now we officially have a go-to spot in Helen. The steak was the absolute star of my plate -- cooked perfectly and full of flavor. My nephew also ordered the steak, and here's how I knew it was a winner: he normally adds A1 sauce to every steak he eats... but this time? Not a single drop. That alone told me everything I needed to know. Laz said he had the best burger he's ever had, and my nephew's fiancée agreed -- which says a lot! Between the phenomenal service, welcoming atmosphere, and unforgettable food, this place is a must. We will definitely be back every time we visit Helen.

We ordered our drinks which were really yummy except the Porch Pounder that I didn't like at all, it was sort of bitter to me. Our food came out really fast I must say and boy we were in for a treat. From the appetizer of the "Pork Belly" which was super yummy to the "Truffle Hawg" Burger I ordered with a side of "Gouda Mac N' Cheese". All of us were soo very pleased with the food selections we had chosen. Even the following day we were still talking about the food and how we wish we could've went back to this restaurant. Our family members can't wait to come back to visit so we can go back and eat there. But my partner and I will defy make a trip to it since we live in Atlanta. The place wasn't super crowded, the heater lamps were on since it was a bit chilly so it felt nice. There was no loud music so overall a very nice ambiance I must say. Please keep up the awesome job. The meat and three along with the vegetable only options are welcomed changes to the family style only meal for those desiring smaller portions. In our experience, the food was served hot and was perfectly prepared. We chose white meat chicken and received two large breast that were excellent! The two catfish fillets and four slices of meat loaf were delicious. The vegetables were Lima beans, cabbage casserole, creamed corn, potatoes au gratin, slaw and a spring salad. All were served fresh with two biscuits and two corn muffins. The relish, apple butter and Sogrum-sage butter were delightful. We were blessed to have April for our server, and highly recommend her for your visit. She shared the history of the area and is proud of the changes and history of the Dillard House. Thank you for a great meal. The fried chicken is better than I remembered. Yes, the restaurant is open, and parts of the motel are being remodeled/updated and the new hotel is under construction. Say for 15 minutes before the manager had to obtain a server for our table. After the food was delivered, the server did not provide adequate service. I requested a water refill, which took an additional 15 minutes, because she continually forgot. Food quality wasn't the greatest. They served chicken, which consisted of 2 thighs and 2 drumsticks. Along with friend catfish filets, that had been way over salted. Both were very soggy. I ate half the thigh and quit. Veggies? Only vegetables were Lima beans, everything else considered vegetables, was a casserole. A table full of starches. Over rated and over priced. Sadly disappointed. If you want good southern food, go further south to Thomasville, GA. Go to O'Neals. You can fool some folks, but not someone that knows southern cooking. We won't return.
