We were greeted with a friendly smile! The food was good! I believe they are known for their cat head biscuits which were good! The biscuits and gravy were good...not the best...but good! My husband got the pancakes and said they were a little cold but, if they had been hot, they would have been excellent! Oh! And the bacon was the best...cooked perfectly crispy and tasty!

I had gravy biscuits with a tomato and about 10 pieces of bacon for breakfast at this amazing Dottie's restaurant in Helen Georgia amazing.

While driving thru Helen, GA decided to check this place out. We were not disappointed that is for sure. Set up like a cafeteria style service. Have many choices for each day's lunch. We had two meals today both of us had the Pot Roast and it was great and good quality not a lot of fat on this meat. My wife had the mashed potatoes with brown gravy and greens. Greens were very hot temperature wise and fantastic to eat. Also had the Cat Head Biscuit which she enjoyed. I had the Pot Roast with green beans and the Brunswick stew. Stew was fantastic and wonderful. Had the corn bread which was okay nothing to write home about. Staff was very helpful and having a good time and enjoying the work they are doing. Main cook is a Navy Veteran so stop by and thank her for her service. Great country vibe and wonderful hidden Gem in Helen, GA.

We were starving when we arrived, we walked up to the food bar, gave the lady our order and were eating in 5 minutes! Food was hot and delicious. We ate Chicken Fried Steak, Fried Chicken Breast, Mashed potatoes and Gravy, Green Beans, Fried Okra and Famous Cathead Biscuits! We will go back there every time we are in Helen! The eating area was decorated for the Thanksgiving Season, looked nice.

You walk in, grab a tray, and you've got options. You can go through the hot bar and get served right there, pay, and be on your way... or order off the menu, sit down, and they'll bring the food to you. Very simple and efficient. The inside is spacious with plenty of seating, and there's also outdoor seating if you want it. Parking is easy too, which is a big plus, especially compared to the chaos you'll run into closer to Helen. Food wise, I always judge breakfast spots by the chicken, egg, and cheese biscuit... and this one held up. The chicken was tender, the biscuit was soft and fresh, and overall it was a solid start. The surprise for me was the hashbrown casserole. It came out good, but once I added a little salt, the flavor really popped. Definitely worth getting. The pancakes were also done right... nice crispy edges with a soft, fluffy inside. That's exactly how pancakes should be. Menu wise, they've got everything you'd expect from a Southern breakfast spot... biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, country ham, pancakes, omelets, and even lunch style items like burgers and plate meals if you come later. They also have a Coca-Cola fountain, which is always a win. Service was friendly, especially for early morning, and the whole place just has that comfortable, old-school home cooking feel. There is also a drive thru if you don't feel like leaving your car. Overall, this is a great spot if you want a good breakfast without the crowds. Simple, tasty, and easy.

The meat and three along with the vegetable only options are welcomed changes to the family style only meal for those desiring smaller portions. In our experience, the food was served hot and was perfectly prepared. We chose white meat chicken and received two large breast that were excellent! The two catfish fillets and four slices of meat loaf were delicious. The vegetables were Lima beans, cabbage casserole, creamed corn, potatoes au gratin, slaw and a spring salad. All were served fresh with two biscuits and two corn muffins. The relish, apple butter and Sogrum-sage butter were delightful. We were blessed to have April for our server, and highly recommend her for your visit. She shared the history of the area and is proud of the changes and history of the Dillard House. Thank you for a great meal. The fried chicken is better than I remembered. Yes, the restaurant is open, and parts of the motel are being remodeled/updated and the new hotel is under construction. Don't let the remodeling deter you from the eating at the restaurant or enjoying your favorite drink from the bar.

Poor service, poor food quality. Not impressed at all…read more Ambience is nice, very spacious, newly built, restaurant. Friendly staff. Not very attentive at all. Say for 15 minutes before the manager had to obtain a server for our table. After the food was delivered, the server did not provide adequate service. I requested a water refill, which took an additional 15 minutes, because she continually forgot. Food quality wasn't the greatest. They served chicken, which consisted of 2 thighs and 2 drumsticks. Along with friend catfish filets, that had been way over salted. Both were very soggy. I ate half the thigh and quit. Veggies? Only vegetables were Lima beans, everything else considered vegetables, was a casserole. A table full of starches. Over rated and over priced. Sadly disappointed. If you want good southern food, go further south to Thomasville, GA. Go to O'Neals. You can fool some folks, but not someone that knows southern cooking. We won't return.

We ordered the Wurst Platter, which came with Hungarian sausage and Weisswurst, sauerkraut, a crispy potato pancake, and spaetzle. It was hearty, flavorful, and a great option for anyone who wants to sample several traditional German favorites on one plate. Our server, Madi, was absolutely amazing. She had excellent suggestions, patiently answered all of our questions, and even brought out several beers for us to sample before we decided which one to order. She was kind, personable, and genuinely funny, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is unmistakably German, with traditional décor, a festive beer-hall feel, and live music that added so much energy to the room. Everything we saw coming out to the surrounding tables looked delicious, and people were clearly devouring their meals and enjoying themselves. It was one of those places where you could immediately tell the food and atmosphere were making everyone happy. Gutes Essen, kaltes Bier und beste Stimmung, Prost! (Good food, cold beer, and great vibes, cheers!) Overall, this was a fun and memorable dining experience with great service, comforting food, and an atmosphere that feels like a celebration. I would definitely return, especially with a group, to try more of the menu and enjoy the live music again.
