This place has everything you came in looking for and more! I came in for a ps2 guitar hero guitar and got a wireless one for $20, batteries included! Charming and Chatty! The employees are very friendly and can go on....and on....about their favorite comic or video game. The place really catches my attention because of their "gaming" room which I first experienced during the Start on the Street art festival. There were various gaming consoles, some old (super Nintendo) some new (Xbox) were set up for free use! It was a great way to make sales and bring in the business. I can suggest that they organize better. Their display cases are stuffed and not well labeled but when asked the employees can be very helpful! read more

This review pertains only to the vinyl music element of TE. One of the more well-stocked vinyl music stores in Central Mass, That's Entertainment carries a decent selection of used and new vinyl and accessories. I give them high marks for the selection of new music they stock, and you can find some great used vinyl here too. Only real complaint is the pricing - you pay quite a bit more here for new vinyl that you'd get online at Insound or Amazon (e.g., an album you can find for $25 online would run you at least $30 here). The used vinyl isn't cheap either, though they're more likely to have the hard-to-find stuff, so I'm okay paying a premium for that. Not sure if they have a dedicated vinyl sales manager, but the clerks at the front desk are usually friendly and will give their personal recommendations based on your purchase if there isn't a line behind you. The vast majority of shelf space at That's Entertainment is for non-vinyl collectibles and hobbies (RPGs, board games, new and used video games, comics, cards, etc). read more

This place just has everything. It's a very large place, but it's as full as a lot of small comic book shops I've seen (and that's a good thing!). Basically, any nerdy thing you need is probably here. It's all very well organized and I never have problem finding what I'm looking for. Well, maybe when I'm sifting through back issues of comics it's a little tricky, and their used graphic novels aren't ordered in a very clear way, but this is a minor complaint about a really great store. The only reason I didn't add the fifth star is because it can get a little crowded and take a little bit to be helped at the register. And there's hardly any parking if you come at a busy time. My last complaint is that you can really only trade in old manga and comics if a particular staff member happens to be there. But all in all, this place is amazing and you should check it out immediately :) read more

I am new to the area and was hoping to find a nearby game store....instead I found a place to buy records, games, and comics! This store is by far the most welcoming game shop that I've been to in Mass and even though they are a store that has comics as their focus they have a really relevant and up to date game selection! I have to confess, I'm a geek... hidden under numerous layers of other things. Not a comic book geek, however. That's Entertainment is much more than a comic book store, though easily half the store is indeed comics, graphic novels, manga, etc... The store is large for what it is, perhaps around 4-5000 square feet, with high ceilings in what looks to be a building that may have been a former car dealership. They have a decent amount of Magic: The Gathering for Legacy players in terms of selection and run regular casual Sunday tournaments. The board game selection is a little light. The pricing here on new products is typically at retail, rarely a sale, but the used and import products are very reasonably priced. I dig around their selection of used video games, which here, runs the spectrum from NES to modern, though not as broad as Game Universe in Framingham. However, you do find the occasional gem. They are a nexus for the local college population to buy and sell DVDs as well of every genre. The store also features a massive selection of nostalgic toys that puts Newbury Comics to shame, including no shortage of first generation GI Joes, Transformers, building sets. It is a good stop for the curious and you never know what you'll find, customers constantly coming in and selling boxes of exotic 'junk' that can be someone else's treasure. read more

That's E is the premier nerd shop in MA and most likely all of New England. They've got comics (new and back issues galore). Used video games and game systems as well as accessories. Toys, dice, cards, records and any other thing we should have all stopped playing with by the age of 15. The staff and customers are always friendly. That's E recently started having live bands play in the store. Harry and the Potters, DOM and Golden Girls as well as many other sweet bands have graced the That's E floor. If you like video games and comics (American and Japanese), skip the comic-con and make your pilgrimage here. I, for one, am a classic video game fanatic. This is the *ONLY* place where I've seen fair prices for Atari, NES, and SNES games. Their stock is always moving around, somehow, so I check back frequently and ALWAYS leave a happy person paying next-to-nothing for excellence. Wow, this place is big is jam-packed with awesome. Picture the independent version of a Newbury Comics and much, much cooler.

An employee at another comic book store recommended this shop to me; he said it is well worth the drive. And it is! They have several bookcases lining one wall with trade paperbacks, and they have four or five rows of boxes of alphabetized DC and Marvel comics on tables and other titles also alphabetized in boxes beneath them. They have new and used toys, games, DVDs, magazines... they even carry sports memorabilia. They also have T-shirts, posters, music, plushies, backpacks, and all sorts of geeky good fun. I always find the most random, awesome things here. I have also traded in games/collectables a handful of times, and they are extremely fair with their purchasing prices and knowledgeable about the items. They don't try to rip you off or take advantage of your lack of knowledge about the items you are trying to sell. The staff is also extremely friendly and down to earth. Was just recently in there to purchase some games and have been a customer for many years you could find so much stuff in this place you never thought possible. From tons of DVDs video games music action figures and all sorts of other collectibles this place seems to have more than other stores that sell collectibles in Massachusetts! I walked in here one day with not a lot to expect. But when I saw all the games and comics, I went into shock! The whole store was lit up with games and accessories. This place was actually the reason I got into retro gaming! I got my SNES, Game boy advance SP, and my copy of Final Fantasy! Went for a Heroclix tournament, one of the employees quite brusquely told my friend and I that we couldn't stay in the store with the bags. Never having been there before, we were unaware that the gaming area was in a side room off from a hall leading into the store. The employee could have have been more understanding since with bags and cases full of Heroclix. I told him we were there for the Heroclix tournament, and he replied, with quite a bit of derision, "So? What do you want? To register? Well, yes. The whole point of holding events is to get people in your store to spend money beyond the event. My interaction with the clerk killed any interest in spending any money there. By contrast, I've walked out of the Fitchburg location with $100+ worth of comics on each visit. read more

This isn't just the best comic book shop in Massachusetts, or New England, or even the United States. This very well may be the best comic book shop in the world. I know that may sound over-the-top, but the people of Worcester really have no idea how good they have it when it comes to That's E. Time and time again, I have had nothing but amazing experiences here and I actually feel guilty if I ever buy stuff anywhere else. One story that I will share with anyone that will listen about the great people that work here has to do with the recent run of villain comics DC ran in September. The hot book with the 3D cover was Justice League #23.2, which of course, was redubbed Lobo #1. So I normally have Wednesday's off and would have been in the store the minute they opened to make sure I got the limited 3D edition of the book, but on this day I ended up having to work 45 minutes away until 7. Knowing they closed at 8, I booked it to the store and got there about 10 minutes before they closed, and just as I expected, they were completely out. I knew there wasn't much of a chance they had any lying around, but I asked anyway and the associate I spoke with confirmed my fear that I was just out of luck. As I was waiting in line to pay for the books I was getting, the same associate was talking about the fact that I was looking for that book with another, and that gentleman went to his personal box, took the 3D copy of the book that he had been saving for himself, and gave it to me to let me buy it. I felt almost embarrassed and protested that I wasn't trying to guilt anyone into giving up their copy of the book, and he said it was no big deal and he probably wouldn't have even read it. That's service if I've ever heard it. The great part about That's E is I can guarantee you that pretty much anyone and everyone that has frequented the store for as long as I have can share a story just like this one. They are the best, and we are very fortunate to have such a great shop in Central Mass. read more

Ask any local from worcester about Thats Entertainment, they'll know what you're talking about! The store is very dirty and dusty, which is why I gave it a four. The selection of comics, plush figures, action figures, and POP! figures is incredible. The array of comics spans half of the back part of the store (And the store is pretty huge). If you're planning on buying some back issues, get a list of what you want and be prepared to search their almost fifty boxes of back issues for them! They have a whole shelf filled with POP! collectables, and a large collection of action figures and plush figures. To sum it up, it's one of my favorite comic book shops. My how time has passed! After coming back to visit family I was surprised to see how the store had grown!! You can tell it's all about the dollar since the isles are cluttered with racks and displays, little room to move around and you might find a bargain but it will cost if you really want something$$$$. The help hasn't changed always more interested in whats behind the counter than in front (customers) and seemingly indifferent when you try to ask a question. It's to bad they seem to have lost perspective, you can sell and give the customers what they want without sacrificing quality, but walking in? Not like the old days I couldn't even see the back of the store anymore. read more

I spend at least an hour in here everytime I go and I feel like I'm still leaving having missed some gem. They have so many cool things. Was recommended to this place by a few friends and I was not disappointed. The second I walked in I was overwhelmed, in a good way. Comics, records, games, movies, toys, sports memorabilia...they got it all. And everything was reasonably priced! Comics I've seen people selling for $50 or more I bought here for a fraction of that. Got A LOT of comics and spend under $100. If I lived in the area I would definitely come more often. I will be back, though! read more

Awesome variety of video games, vinyl records, collectible cards, comic books, and geek memorabilia. Pricing is awesome--Magic singles are lower then any other card shop I can think of, records are cheap (check the $1 box, there's some good stuff there!) and the games are for the most part reasonable (though there's a few titles that are a bit pricier then they should be). I've also participated in some Magic events in their game room. It's a bit small and the events are far from the best-run I've ever been to, but it's nice to have a place to play. On the whole, a solid 4-star establishment and easily the premiere hobby shop in the area (not to mention a much better record shop then the actual record shop next door, hehe). read more

One of my favorite places to waste time and money in Worcester. That's Entertainment has a great selection of obscure and off-the-wall comics, and a very large selection of your mainstream superhero fare. They seem to have a lot of back issues, though I haven't gone through them much. Lots of other cool sports memorabilia, records, old video games, movies, toys, etc. But the independent comic selection is the real gem here - lots of great stuff I'd never seen or heard of before. Lets face it collectible fans, there is no longer any refuge for us to find what we crave, unless you want to count Newbury Comics, which is fine but the employees I find unfriendly to comic book fans. This is one of the very few brick and mortar places where you find comics and other collectibles as most place have gone under because of the internet; I for one enjoy touching my purchases and customer service. If your a fan boy/girl then this is your promise land; they have comics, collectibles, vintage video games and everything in between. I found cables for the vintage Sega Genesis I picked up, I was amazed I could even find them short of Ebay! They even have a separate gaming room for Magic tournament's etc. In short, this place is huge, has anything you could ever dream of and has helpful employees; the only gripe I might have is that they claim they buy vintage comics and video games, but barely looked in the bag I brought with me before saying "Not Interested", all the games where over 20 years old...buys vintage games eh? a place you need to visit! read more
