I saw the great ratings and my parents live not too far from there, so we went to dinner. When I checked in on Yelp, I noticed they have a 10 percent discount if you spend at least $30, which we did. The waitress took my phone and showed the offer to someone, I suppose the manager. She came back and gave an excuse like it's a third party and for online orders. I have no clue what the waitress was trying to explain. There is no fine print on the check-in offer. As for food.. We were served a water carafe with cute aluminum cups. My parents weren't that hungry and ordered soft spring rolls. The order comes with three rolls. They're similar to the Vietnamese ones, albeit softer and less crunchy. I ordered yellow curry with tofu. Though it's classified on the menu without a red pepper, and I told the waitress I don't want it spicy, the dish was still spicy. It comes with potatoes and steamed rice. The curry looks homemade, and they were able to hold the onions. The place had a good amount of business for a Sunday evening. They need to add a red pepper to the yellow curry description on the menu and take off the 10 percent offer from the Yelp listing if they don't want to honor it. read more

It's in a shopping center, and pretty nondescript. We were in the area, and my husband is always drawn to restaurants with ridiculous names. The waitress was nice. The one that intrigued me to drive 45 minutes to try this place is that they serve pork leg stewed. I am not aware any Thai restaurants in Houston that have this as their regular menu. And for the non-skin eater, they offer the dish with no skin for an extra charge. But to me, skin all the way. That's how you are supposed to eat this dish. And wow, the meat and the skin really melt in your mouth. It's so flavorful. I'll come back just for this dish. Even my husband, who only eat the meat part commented how tender the meat was. This was our first time coming to this place and we will be back. We also ordered chicken with garlic rice which is a very good dish as well. And our third order, the dry egg noodle with BBQ pork also got a thumbs up from my husband. To close it out, we ordered the mango with sticky rice based on the suggestion of the server/ maybe owner. Delicious food, nice ambiance (for a strip mall) and very good service. We had a ginger dish (pad ginger), a glass noodle dish, as well as roti and fish cake appetizers. We would order all of these again. The menus is set up for you to pick the protein you want in many of the dishes. The iced Thai coffee was great. Lastly, the menu is extensive. Everything was ready when I arrived, and the staff was friendly and efficient. Although I didn't eat on site, the place looked clean and there were folks dining in. The food was great! The food was absolutely delicious, it will be our new Thai place for sure. Heads up if you order your food medium it will be HOT!!! And I don't mean temp I mean spice level. My husband and daughter who both love the heat were overwhelmed with the spice. The flavor was great so they kept eating but they will both be ordering something between mild and medium next time. Kids nuggets were two thumbs up according to my 8year old. We went in right at 6:00 and there were a few customers but did seem like they needed more employees. Ordered food around 6:10 didn't receive food until 7:00 and it was spaced out so each person's dish came out 5ish minutes apart. Then we shared the Panang Mango which was fine, but the star of the evening was the Ka Na Moo Grob--crispy pork with Chinese broccoli! Amazing! The textures, flavors and colors made this a truly standout dish. After seeing so many 5 star reviews in such a short period of time after opening, I had to check out this place as it is literally across the street from me. The interior of the restaurant is clean and well appointed. A young lady who was the waitress appeared to be of high school age and was welcoming and very hospitable. Now on to the real reason I came here - the food. Ladies and gentlemen this is where the review goes downhill. The 5 star reviews must be all from friends and family, This is not authentic Thai food and certainly not of 5 star quality. There were no authentic Thai flavors, I judge a Thai restaurant by two very recognizable Thai dishes - Green Curry and the Tom Kha Ga soup. Both dishes here were unlike any I had ever had (and not in a good way). Totally lacking in Thai and coconut flavors both dishes were made with some horribly looking thin white liquid. In fact the Green Pork Curry looked and tasted just like the Tom Kha Ga. The only difference was the size of the bowl. Not a very good food adventure (more like a food nightmare). since 2 Thai restaurants popped up around the same time and both within walking distance for me, I visited Prawnee's Thai Cuisine a few days later. Read my review of Prawnee's. This is a mom and pop Thai restaurant with an authentic Thai chef (Prawnee) and truly deserves all 5 star reviews for their truly authentic Thai cooking and flavors.
