Ordered takeout from here on doordash. Food was delicious! We ordered thom yum soup, pad see ew, duck curry, and Penang curry. The soups was flavorful and light which I loved. We got it with chicken and the chicken was a little dry and overcooked despite being in a liquid, so that's my only complaint. The pad see ew was the star! It was all our favorite and had a tiny bit of spice, and wasn't too oily. I still found it oily but definitely way better than most places! I couldn't have the curries because they had bell peppers, but my friends said they were good but both tasted very similar. I didn't love that I couldn't write any allergies on the doordash app. I understand they want to streamline things so I did appreciate that they seemed to list every ingredient so I could figure out which ones had bell peppers. I may try calling next time and see if any of the curries are possible without bell peppers. This is probably our new favorite Thai takeout place! read more

We were headed somewhere where else but they were closed on Mondays. So we checked quickly on Yelp and TS was right around the corner and open. It was pretty full for a Monday night, so we were lucky to get a table for our party of 4. The standard choices were on there so we went for our usual favorites -- pad woon sen, and a curry (curry Talay this time). The vegan dumplings looked interesting so we threw those in. Service was quick and friendly. Foos came out fast too. I was disappointed with the dumplings -- they looked nothing like the photos and were over cooked, hard and bland. Thai Spoons is a local family-run restaurant that's perfect if you're looking for casual Thai food at a good price in south bay! I've visited here several times because I live so close, and the food always hits the spot :) We have only ever come here for dinner, and the service is generally quick and friendly with little to no wait time. They do also have lunch combos that look to be a great deal on the weekdays, but I've never visited for lunch yet. In terms of food, everything that I've tried has been really good and flavorful! Some of my favorites are the pad kee mao, eggplant delight (great if you love eggplant and tofu), and the spicy eggplant (can you tell I love eggplant?). First time ordering from Thai Spoons. Great experience! For two people we got Pad Woon Sen with Beef, Fried Tofu (16 pcs) (V), Panang Curry with Tofu (V). Both entrees were delicious and came in huge portions. I really liked the silver noodles in the Pad Woon Sen. We asked for medium spicy level and that was already quite hot for us. The fried tofu was okay, not much flavor in the tofu itself and the dipping sauce was overly sweet. After a long commute I wanted to reward myself with a great Thai dinner! It was a great sign to bump into two female acquaintances finishing their meal. (The vibe was cheery and chatty!) I briefly sat with them and they told me it was their first time at Thai Spoons and they were thoroughly enjoying their delicious dinner. Kristina was super warm and helpful and guided me to my table. I asked for her recommendations and agreed to try the Pla Pad Ped and Papaya Salad. Both Thai hot as intended by the gods of Thailand. Uhoh. Maybe I had bit off more than I can chew. I got flashbacks of celebrities on the Youtube show "Hot Ones" tasting Da' Bomb Hot Sauce. I had to get in a Tod Mun and white rice to balance the spice level. And I ordered a creamy Thai Iced Tea to serve as my palate fire extinguisher. Michael and Kristina brought out the beautiful and fantastic dishes. The papaya salad was refreshing and hot! (Michael was super chill and so easy to talk to.) He brought out the Pla Pad Ped (whole fried fish). It was deliciously hot! The fresh and sautéed vegetables were complementary and sumptuous. The tod mun was absolutely delectable! For dessert, Michael recommended the sticky rice wiith Mango! It was steaming and divine! I took the advice of a great friend and took my time. Overall the dish itself was really good which is why Thai spoons deserves 4 stars but I wish it tasted more like pad kee mao Rice noodles and flavor was really good! Lots of meat and veggies they did NOT SKIMP. Got Thai hot but tasted like a mild and had to double check the receipt to make sure I ordered correctly. I ate lunch today at Thai Spoons on El Camino across from Toyota Sunnyvale. Basil Chicken was tasty and cooked perfectly. Panang Beef flavor was OK but the beef was very chewy so either Thai Spoons purchases poor quality beef or they overcook it. But it was awful. Too bad. The prices are quire reasonable -- $15 for rice and two entrees. $14 for rice and one entrée. The prices do not include drink but do include tax. Thai Spoons is a family run business for years. Came here twice during the pandemic for take out for dinner, the last time between bouts of hazardous smoky air from nearby forest fires. Phone ordered the restaurant directly to bypass Grubhub commission charges on the restaurant. The person on the receiving end spoke perfect English with no misunderstandings of the order. Walked 25 minutes from home to pick up the order, bypassing DoorDash charges against the restaurant. First thing I noticed was that the food only went up about 3/4ths of the container of carton, for the $14 eggplant delight with pork. The eggplant delight with pork weighted 26.6 ounces, the Gai Pad Ped 15.3 ounces, and the basil chicken 19.9 ounces. The Gai Pad Ped is one of their customer favorites, and was my least favorite dish. Not a good idea to order breaded fried food for take out, as they dry up too fast. Sort of like a Thai version of chicken McNuggets. The chicken taste was dulled once it cooled. The eggplant delight was both my wife and my favorite. Only problem was that it was largely greasy orange colored sauce, very flavorful, with very little eggplant. Would remember next time to cook my own eggplant to add to it. The basil chicken was chicken ground into tiny pebbles of meat, like ground beef. Tasty but not a whole lot of meat once you go past the huge amount of sauce. Came a second time, ordering the $13 spicy egg plant with pork, the $13 kee mao noodles with chicken, and the $12 yellow curry chicken. The kee mao came with flat wide noodles, onions, mini corn, grated carrots and broccoli. Tasted fine, but would have preferred more chicken. Not a big portion size compared to other places. The yellow curry with chicken came with potatoes, carrots, and chicken in a nice tasting sauce. Not spicy at all but more potatoes than chicken. Looked like a soup when I first opened it. The spicy eggplant came with no eggplant! Should have realized something was fishy when it came in a carton instead of soup container like the first time. Carrots, onions, green beans with chicken. During my first order for pickup, the lady mistakenly thought I had paid for the meal in advance. Now my ex wife of 19 years would have said yes. But 17 years of marriage and training by my honest second wife showed, when I told her I had not paid for the meal yet. read more

This is my go-to spot for my Pad Thai and Pad See Ew cravings, and their mango sticky rice and Thai tea are a must. They were all mild spicy and the lady said if I wanted something spicier I need to order from the menu. Also the proportion of broccoli to noodles was like 1:1 And if you see the photo, you can only see broccoli and hardly any other vegetable in it. I forgot to take pictures, but just couldn't ignore posting reviews. We ordered "Pad thai -shrimp", "Pad see ew - tofu", "Pineapple beef" and "vegan dumpling". The main purpose is to sample the menu. The food came in 5 minutes! Yes I know, first red flag. There is no way anyone can prepare these many dishes in 5 minutes! The dumpling itself frying takes 2-3 minutes! Anyway, most of the dishes are pre-made and microwaved. Whenever, I saw dishes hot, I become suspicious. And after trying dumpling, I realized the inside (made out of mushroom) is cold while the outside is piping hot! Yes microwaved! The pad see-ew is ok! Plenty of eggs, broccolis and carrots and lots of tofu. Taste wise not good as it drenched in Thai sauce. The other two dishes have been tasted by my girlfriend. I tried a bit Pad Thai from her plate (I am a vegetarian so didn't taste shrimp). The dish is extremely sour (sweetness in pad thai is almost non-existent)! I saw plenty of shrimps though. But again taste wise is not something to go for again. The pineapple beef, I tried the broth and the pineapple. The taste is actually good, but the beef is chewy according to my girlfriend, and I tried to dissect and it is rubbery. Overall, the place is decent, looks family owned but the food is bad! I decided to revise my review after my last three visits and my last online order. I have been coming to Thai Spoons for the last 24 yrs and the last three times have been nothing but a major disappointment. 1. Stale Vegetables and I could smell them in my Basil Fried Rice as well as in the Kra prao curry. 2. Taste wise also i don't know its not like earlier and it below par. 3. I understand we all are subjected to inflation but the prices are on par with other thai places. However, the quantity has been reduced significantly and for my take out last time the person at the counter wanted to charge me $1 for hot chilli sauce. In addition to that they charged 3 % of the bill if you pay by card. I have not seen this at other places.
