We had not visited Thai Spice in Covington for about a year, but my wife and I returned today for a weekday lunch. Service was friendly and efficient, and the tasteful dining area was neat and tidy. I had the pepper steak and my wife had the traditional Pad Thai. Both were served with sweet and sour soup, and spring rolls. Although only modestly spicy, all were tasty. Thai Spice is well worth a visit.

The lunch menu was avarege, the Thai tea was a bit too sweet! The pad thai was a bit dry on the sauce, but the Tofu was well prepared. I will return here and try their dinner portion, next time in town. The fresh rolls could had some addd cilantro. I am happy to have this as an option in Covington-LA.

Best Tai food and service hands down. Owner does all the cooking and finds time to meet customers in the dining room.

Celiacs, rejoice! There's a spot in town for us…read more My husband is Jewish and has wanted to try Tavi for awhile. The problem is we live in Houston and only come to the area to see my parents twice every year. On our final night, he said he wanted to go to Tavi. Wish granted. We got a reservation on Open Table (highly recommend) and headed that way. Will was our server (and was also the bartender). He was incredible. He explained how the kitchen has a dedicated fryer for gluten-free items so celiacs and gluten intolerant folks won't react. Words cannot express how much that means to us. Additionally, they could do the fried chicken hummus and use rice flour to bread it instead of wheat. We ordered it. Upon arrival, it was so incredibly good. They brought fresh vegetables (crudite) to use instead of pita (it's $8, but they are homegrown and fresh). My husband, who can have all the gluten in the world, enjoyed his with pita. He put it on his plate. The pita also came with olive oil and is made in house. You can watch them bake it in the wood-fired oven. The pita is also the base for the flatbreads. When it came time to order our real food, I got the shrimp and subbed couscous for the rice. It was like a fried Israeli rice with pistachios. Lots of crunch and excellent. The shrimp came in a New Orleans style bbq sauce. I could have drank just the sauce (and taken some years off of my life cause it was butter). My husband had the lamb shawarma since they were half off on Saturday. His came with fries. He was so impressed. If you come and split an appetizer, you could easily split a shawarma. The portions are huge (not on the shrimp, though). You definitely need reservations if you have a larger party. It's not too loud inside, but there's ongoing chatter in the background. I'd also recommend planning on staying at least an hour. They won't rush around. Parking can be a pain, so allow extra time for that. We will definitely be back!!

They have cheese great cheese grits and many other tasty sides. Soups, quiche, along with chicken salad and pimento cheese are available too, My top pick is the chicken parm. There's is unique because they don't use the breading. That may sound unusual but it's yummy and cuts way back on the carbs. Most items come in 2 different sizes. One more family size and one more fit 1-2 people. You can also buy a lot of items either fresh or frozen. I do think it's important to note that items are not cheap, if you think of it as creating a meal and figure up how many people you feed, it's not much more than you would spend buying something out that's probably not that good. The owner's son is usually there when we drop by and he usually always helpful and nice! The shop is small but full of their homemade dishes as well as a nice variety of local products from artisans. I really appreciate that they support other locals! Drop in and buy something to try. You may decide the quality and convenience is worth the little extra cost!

There are plenty of vegetarian options which is a definite plus and it's not your generic fare. Creative recipes make me so happy and there is plenty to try here. Yes, Tessier is pricey, but I've found you do get quality ingredients. One long pull of melted cheese after you take the macaroni out of the oven shows you the love they put into hand-grating for maximum melt-age. You've just got to watch out and ask about pricing on some things because at times it's not clearly labeled. Stick to the fridges and freezers where the prices are really obvious! The one issue I've had with Tessier is actually related to our first visit. Hubs wanted to grab a bag of croutons to go with his tomato soup. We were informed that the croutons would be discounted because some had been left in the oven for far too long and were very dark. The words used were pretty much "we can't in good conscience sell these for full price." Hey, why not? Discount! He's not too picky. Except after leaving and checking my text receipt (you don't get to see the things being rung up as it's happening) we saw that first of all, the little bag of croutons was a ridiculous FIVE DOLLARS, and our discount on what ended up being half a bag that went to the birds was around forty cents.

The music added an interesting touch to the overall dining experience. The service was fairly good--our waitress was polite and checked in periodically, though she did disappear for stretches of time, which us in a left a bit of a gap in attentiveness. But, when she returned, she was helpful and accommodating. The food was very enjoyable overall. One standout was the Lebanese tea, which, even without the pine nuts, had a great flavor and was a highlight of the meal. Most of the dishes were flavorful and well-prepared, though the chicken in the Shawarma plate was a little dry. Despite that, the generous portions and authentic flavors made the meal satisfying. Lastly, I believe this place delivers a welcoming ambience, friendly service with room for a little more consistency, and delicious food with a few small areas for improvement. I'd gladly return, especially for the tea and the relaxed atmosphere.

Valencia, near downtown Covington, is a stylish, contemporary presence featuring tapas and traditional Spanish cuisine, with a respectful nod to the local culture. Service was friendly and attentive today, with Dara providing valuable info on menu offerings and taking excellent care of us. Today we enjoyed their specialty tapas; a Valencia roll, fried calamari, and a brand new offering - fried chicken pesto flatbread. All were excellent, with the roll having a sumptuous glaze and the calamari packing a tasty jalapeño punch. The flatbread, which we found out that we were the first to try, may have been the star of the show; generously portioned, with a thin crust, moist chicken and a zesty , but not overpowering, pesto finish. Although we were too full for dessert, several appealing ones were available. A number of specialty cocktails were also featured. We enjoyed their sangria. We look forward to returning to Valencia!

They don't overcook it, never gonna leave you hungry, I can't refuse it. Prior to my trip to Valencia, I had never had real Spanish food. I have had lots of Latin American food, but true Spanish food was not something I had tried. Now that I have, I am hooked. Valencia is amazing. I went with a group one night at their recommendation. I had other ideas for downtown Covington, but this is where they wanted to go. Suprisingly my youngest kid agreed to go too, which turned out great. Valencia is located in an old house that has served as several restaurants before. I always loved the location and have loved several of teh other spots. But Valencia takes the cake. It is fancy without feeling pretentious. Intimate despite being loud and popular. So many great things to say about the vibe. The food, however, is the star, even with the amazing ambiance. We started with calamari and creamy goat cheese. Both were stellar. The creamy goat cheese was so light and rich. The calamari was perfectly fried and incredibly fresh. Delicious! My entrée was the skirt steak, which I chose over the ribeye. I made the right choice. It was just like all of the other food, rich and delicious, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor unlike anything I have had before this meal. One word of caution. My kid had the charred octopus, and it was good, but it was indeed charred. I tried it and liked it, but it may have exceeded her taste buds. But, ladies and gentlemen, is how we learn. I cannot say enough great things about Valencia. PS If you are staying at the Southern, you can walk here!
