Pad Thai is a great little place in the small town of Madisonville. It's located right on Highway 22 in the center of town. Coming from Baton Rouge, where we have a variety of Thai options, I have to say that Pad Thai compares favorably with the big city Thai restaurants. I love introducing people to new cuisines, and I've had the pleasure of taking two people who were unfamiliar with Thai food to Pad Thai. Both were impressed, and one fellow is now a big fan of curries! The food here is high quality and well prepared. But what really goes the extra mile at Pad Thai is the presentation. It's a step above! They have the classics, a variety of curries, and my favorites, the noodle dishes. There's some nice appetizers and soups to start off with as well. While Mandeville is no doubt better known for seafood and southern favorites, there's no reason to limit one's horizons. Enjoy this little quality ethnic establishment while you are in the area. Had a lovely lunch here with my Mom on Monday (when many Thai places in the area are not open apparently!). We basically had the restaurant to ourselves with attentive and friendly service. Our water glasses were never empty. The inside is so charming, and it was so nice to sit in. Everything was so freshly cooked. The spring rolls were wonderfully crispy. The fried rice and pad thai came out hot. Neither dish was spicy at all which was a tiny let down, but I got to try the thai chili sauce with my pad thai, and it was so yummy. They made the fried rice and pad thai a bit saucier than we're used to, but it was a nice change! I know everyone makes dishes differently. Thank you! read more

I was excited to try this place after moving to Madisonville. I called and ordered a curry and a cup of tom yum soup. The man on the phone asked "cup or bowl" and I said, again, CUP. When I arrived my total was almost 30 dollars when it should have neen closer to twenty. This is because he charged me for a BOWL of tom yum, which is somehow twice the price. My friend and I stopped at this cozy hole in the wall on our way to Abita Springs, and I must say, this meal alone was worth the trip over the causeway. I got the massaman curry with tofu as a lunch special. Ordered it medium spicy and that is indeed how it turned out. Such rich, complex sauce. I normally order green, but this one is a new favorite. The tofu was done just right, as was the rice. Even came with a crispy spring roll--a pleasant surprise. My friend packed some of her green curry to bring home, but I ate everything and regret nothing. Only $9 too. I like to try everyone's drunken noodles because they're my favorite Thai dish. I finally got around to trying pad Thai's. We got it to go because they're only doing to go orders right now due to covid. Omg these might be the best drunken noodles I've ever had. Had a nice subtle sweetness with the subtle heat. FULL of veggies, onions, broccoli, cabbage, green beans, carrots. Seriously, if someone put the drunken noodle sauce on a shoe I would heavily consider licking it off. The prices are affordable. My husband and I order from Pad Thai regularly. We love the drunken noodles and the green curry. We've had both made with tofu or chicken and both are excellent! I like how they cook the tofu. I don't like mine too soft and theirs is just right. Their tom kha soup is delicious and a great remedy for a cold or sore throat. The servings are generous and there's a good balance of veggies to starches. The heat level is perfect for us - likely mild as far as traditional Thai food goes, but a nice hint of heat for our preference. Highly recommend! read more

Had lunch here while in Madisonville for training. They have a lunch special where you can choose from a good portion of the menu (most of the Me items, all the curries) and choose your protein (beef, pork, chicken; shrimp for $2 more). I picked drunken noodle with pork. Both of my coworkers chose the pad Thai. The lunch special starts off with a small bowl of soup. I do not know what kind but it was a clear yellowish broth with a few noodles. The soup did not look like anything special, but it was delicious! Broth was not overly salty and had a slight garlic flavor. My main dish, the drunken noodles were cooked just right. The dish was not over-sauced which is a common complaint for me. The vegetables were fresh and plentiful. Spinach, carrots, broccoli. The pork was cooked just right and was flavorful. I really enjoyed my lunch here. With tip my total was just over $10. The outside of the building is very unassuming but the inside was very clean and beautifully decorated. We arrived right when lunch started at 11, so there was only one other customer. Wow the food here is very good. My wife had the shrimp fried rice and said that it has been a long time since she has had it that tasty. I had the Masaman curry with chicken and shrimp. It was really good. We got the steamed dumplings and squid salad for our appetizers. If you like fish sauce and squid you will love the squid salad. The steamed dumplings are ok. I agree with the people that say the service is slow. When we went they only had one server and the person didn't know a lot about the food. They were also out of some things on the menu. Overall, we were very happy with this restaurant and will be going back soon. When a place has food this good we can over look the waiting staff. I give it a four, not a five because of the items on the menu that weren't available and the person serving not knowing about the menu items. read more

Pad Thai is a slightly new addition to the Madisonville culinary scene that is replacing the old Frog's Pizza. So sad to lose Frog's, but a Thai restaurant is a welcome addition. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, very clean, but this is better suited for take out orders or small groups. My family and I came in with a large group, 8 people, and the service was so slow. It took forever for all of us to even get waters. There was only one other table of two in the restaurant, but a regular flow of take out customers coming in and out. Our server was possibly a manager as well. It took a while to order our food and once the food came out it was 20 minutes between the first and last plates hitting the table. The food was delicious, very authentic thai curry, very fresh veggies and the sauce was delicious. The rest of the family was very happy with their food, but we all agreed, we wished the service was better. read more

We tried the Vegetable soup which is by far the best damn soup I've had in a while, fresh rolls, squid salad, jungle curry and fried rice. All of it was so well prepared and authentic. Came in a couple days prior to this with a friend and the restaurant was empty and the one lady serving took forever and kept asking if she could fill her carry out orders first. Chicken pad thai was alright. A couple days later my friend wanted pad thai again since it was her first time having it and she liked it so we went back and restaurant was dead empty again. After we pay a RAT!!!!!!!!!! RUNS ACROSS THE CEILING BEAM so close to us. We ran out of there terrified. Makes sense why it is always dead in there. Disgusted. read more

DO NOT DINE IN. PROBABLY GOOD FOR TAKE-OUT. The food was delicious, but service and drinks were lousy. We were the only family dining in (note: ~3 people stopped by for take-out), but the wait time and friendliness of the waitress was lacking. We ordered 3 different kinds of soda, and all were flat. This is because they were from 2 liter bottles that were 75% empty and stored at room temperature. When I complained that the drinks were flat, I was told that the bottles were just opened; although I could see that this was obviously not the case. When the food arrived, it was tasty. Hence, we'll stick to take-out next time and get our own drinks. read more
