Paella Valenciana for 2
Brandie L.

Valencia has been on our list of restaurants to try for some time now. My family had the pleasure of dining at Valencia for lunch today. What a wonderful addition this restaurant is to downtown Covington. The staff were friendly and provided exceptional service during our lunch. The atmosphere works well for families, couples and social gatherings alike. We enjoyed the Beef Empanadas, Calamari Frito, Ensalada verde with green apples & goat cheese and the Paella Valenciana for two. Our order was just right for our party of four. Each dish was prepared perfectly and was full of flavor. Valencia's quality is comparable to some of our favorite tapas restaurants around the world. My family and I look forward to our next visit. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Valencia to experience the delcious cuisine they have to offer.

Fresh and flavorful Spanish dishes in the heart of Old Covington, Valencia is the perfect spot to take your significant other or bestie! When we dined here, we were greeted by friendly servers and relaxing Spanish music. The atmosphere makes you feel like you're in Europe dining at a fancy restaurant in the town square. Our favorite dishes were the beef empanadas and the goat cheese tapas. The citrus marmalade syrup paired well alongside the creamy and smooth goat cheese spread, while the empanadas were crispy and filled with the most flavorful meat. We also enjoyed Pan Con Tomate--a menu item that reminded me of bruschetta toast with the addition of manchego cheese. The patatas bravas were also super yummy--home potatoes drizzled with a spicy tomato sauce and garlic aioli. It was also my fiancé's birthday so he wanted something sweet to end the meal with and the Spanish French toast did not disappoint. It was made with bread pudding batter and covered in bananas and sweet rum sauce, certainly a nod to a Banana's Foster and NOLA cuisine. 10/10 I recommend this place if you're ever in downtown Covington!

Our server Emily made my birthday dinner memorable. Many at our table struggled to read the tiny print on the menu. I would like to see the menu items expanded or a "specials" menu added to the standard menu. I would like to see an expanded Spanish or South American red wine menu. We will be back!

Great food and fast service! The chicken empanadas and burger was amazing. One of the best burgers I've had. Atmosphere was so cute and we heard they have live music some nights!

My experience at this restaurant was exceptional. The service was very good and the food was excellent. I really enjoyed the paella, much better than Costera's in New Orleans. We had a good time.

I've been to Valencia a few times and it's always excellent. Service is great, they have my favorite White Sangria and goat cheese tapa. I'll be back!!

Mahi and potato salad

Great Food and Cocktails. The potato salad is more like potato's in sauce not actual potato salad in mayo.

Flavors were amazing! Atmosphere was cozy. Wait staff was very nice. We will be back soon.

The service, ambiance and drinks were excellent. I came for a girls dinner and Valencia was the perfect setting. If making a reservation, I recommend patio seating as they often have live music making the dining experience that much more special. The food, albeit good, was not traditionally Spanish and tasted more like Latin meals made in Colombia or Central America/Latin America. It was not what I was expecting at a Spanish restaurant at all.

Great Food and Service. Best Pork Belly I've ever had. Came here for a Saturday Lunch and will definitely come again. Only remark is I wish they played Spanish music instead of American Pop.

Came in to celebrate a birthday and couldn't have picked a better place! The staff were all nice and attentive, and the food was incredible! The dining room is small but set up beautifully for any occasion. We will be coming back soon!

Excellent! Ambiance on point, cozy but sophisticated. Service is 10/10. Every dish had its own unique taste and cooked to perfection.

Excellent food, ambience and service. Especially recommended are the paella Valenciana, panceta, albarino and flan.

Once you start getting your order, the plates slowly come out two or so at a time. Each plate had different qualities and a completely different flavor profile so I will review them all separately. Service while European took some getting used to. The owner is the only waiter which causes some delays. It's probably for the best as it allows them time to create the meal for you, but I believe it is important to acknowledge this in a review. Olives were a 5/5, very soft and fleshy and delicious unlike other restaurants in the area. Nothing much more to say. Good olives. Patatas were a 5/5; they were pleasantly fried and had a nice alioli. Not traditional but still good. Desperately begged for a sprinkle of salt on top of them though Ceviche was a 4/5, good flavor and texture on the shrimp and fish but were a bit too vinigary for my liking. The salad was the best part of it and was balanced perfectly. Mushrooms were a 5/5, they were just crimini mushrooms but the sauce was perfect for them. I ended up using the cracker that came with the jamón to soak it up. Jamón and chorizo were a 5/5, the sheep's cheese was delicious and you can never go wrong with meat and cheese. I preferred removing the cracker that came with them, though. Calamari steak was a 5/5 and my personal favorite. I've never had just tender and delicious squid. The owner prides himself on simple recipes and I'd have to say that this really showcased that. I could taste (and identify) nearly every flavor present in the dish just on one bite. The best part of the meal. The tortilla was my least favorite part and was a 1/5. I hate to say it, but I believe it was bad. It just tastes like a latke, but is not crispy and is very thick causing a bland and boring sensation. I finished my meal with an espresso with a pour of brandy. Espresso was strong and lovely and was a nice way to end the meal. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you love food and don't mind a wait, because it is definitely worth it.

Solera Bar & Tasting Room - Pork Belly

Solera Bar & Tasting Room

Both good choices. Overall, the wine pairing was okay. I like the appetizer pairing of a nice light, white bubbly prosecco. The second was a classic red wine to pair with a steak. The last wine is where I was not impressed. It was a dessert wine that had a smell similar to a distilled whiskey. I took a sip and decided I rather another glass of prosecco. Shout out to the server who was accommodating and swapped out that glass for what I requested. He didn't have to, but he did! The food was mouth watering delicious. We started off with the sauteed shrimp and the piquillo peppers. THANK GOD the piquillo peppers are a Solera regular. I will be getting them again. The shrimp were just okay, nothing out of this world. Second course was the filet with polenta. It was absolutely delicious and packed with flavors that complimented each other well. Final course we had the rum bread pudding and the manchego cheesecake. The manchego cheese is definitely a rich and an acquiring flavor. Without the blueberry sauce, you would think its just a slab of cheese. The rum bread pudding was spectacular. I have never loved a rum sauce with my bread pudding, but the Solera one kept me wanting more. Overall and enjoyable experience, with a couple minor foods that lack the razzle dazzle of a 5 star review.
