[Coronavirus review] Still running during the lockdown, with the option to order from various apps or their own website. It's also notable that this location is just across the river from DC in Arlington; it's a trip that I would hesitate to make in traffic, but currently there isn't much traffic so I think it's wise to recalibrate one's mental maps to account for greater reachability. Thai cuisine creates a fairly stark issue for us vegetarians (and vegans, and people with seafood allergies) because the authentic cuisine has fish and shrimp in basically everything. This place has notably decided to offer most of its menu available vegan, though I was dismayed to learn that their tofu and vegetable option includes broccoli, while the amount of actual tofu was not huge. The drunken noodles and pad prik khing I ordered had other flavors, to be sure, with Thai basil and a reasonable dose of chili coming through. The nuance of flavors I get at-say-Beau Thai was not evident, but for quick takeout it was good enough as a sort of 3.5-star place that vegetarians of all stripes can depend on. read more

It was fine. That's what I thought afterwards eating my delivery from here. The crab Rangoon tasted pretty good but we're $9 for only 5 one-bite pieces which is crazy. The Pad See Ew was fine but not exceptional, it was lacking flavor. The portion was decent for the price. Overall it wouldn't be my first choice to order from but if for some reason I found myself eating from there again I wouldn't be upset! read more

I'm not sure why more reviews don't mention it, but they have vegan options!! They mark which items are already vegan, and then they can make any other plate vegan if you ask. My sister got curry (vegan), and we split pan fried dumplings! I got the chicken pad thai, was amazing! The noodles in the pad thai weren't flat, like I'm used to, but we're round and glass-like- but I loved them! The food was all amazing, came out super fast and the service was top-notch! read more

I had the combo dish of pad Thai and Panang curry. I like them both, but the curry was better than the pad Thai. The service and atmosphere both take a little of a hit because of the robust takeout curriers that were almost constantly walking in and out. Otherwise, clean local, food was above average. read more

Ordered for lunch and got the panang curry and pad Thai tofu. The curry portion was small but very flavorful - I got an extra order of rice too. Had a fair amount of chicken. The pad thai was sticky, oily and a weird flavor. The noodles were also a vermicelli like. I got the thai iced coffee and it was delicious. All in all I would order here again in a pinch but not get that pad thai. read more

A reliable place to order Thai takeout. I ordered the pad thai and basil krapow, both with chicken. I have had better pad thai, it's lacking in flavor compared to other pad thai dishes I've tried. I agree with another one of the reviews that the portions are a bit small, especially for the price; compared to other Thai places. The basil krapow had good flavor but just not big portion size, so I wouldn't get it as an entree again. Aside from chicken and 3 pieces of broccoli and a few pieces of pepper, not much to the dish, so that was a bit disappointing. read more

They seem to be running a side business on DoorDash called "Fire Ass Thai", and this review is based on my Fire Ass Thai order. (DoorDash indicated the food was coming from this location which is how I figured this out.) So big disclaimer there, kind of an unusual circumstance. So Fire Ass Thai markets themselves as a specifically 'spicy Thai food' spot based on both their name and all of their menu items prefixed with "Spicy". For people like me who likes things really spicy, this labeling alone led me to place an order. Anyway, the food was not spicy. Not at all. They just give you some chili powder on the side (!!). I ordered "Spicy Drunken Noodles" with a spice level of "Level 5: XXX Hot" or something like that. It wasn't spicy at all, not even in the slightest. They definitely tricked me into ordering with their 'spicy' branding and didn't deliver on that promise. And the quality itself was very low. The drunken noodles were slimy and overcooked, couldn't finish them. And the "Spicy Egg Rolls" were again not at all spicy, in addition to be unusually small and again overcooked. The Tom Yum soup I ordered was a bit spicy and pretty decent, which is why this is a two star review instead of one star... I'm being generous. There's at least one good thing on their menu. But why not just be straightforward about what they are? And why have this second side hustle called "Fire Ass Thai" that essentially seems to exist just to entice people into ordering from them? Are not enough people ordering from "Thai Select"? Maybe because their food is generally not great, they should fix that instead of doing a spin off. read more

They advertise as Vegan mania on Postmates which in fact they are not vegan. My "vegan padthai with tofu" arrived with egg and fish sauce. Called the restaurant to complain their response was,"we have a new cook what do you want me to do". I want you to not advertise as a vegan restaurant. You can make people sick read more

This is definitely one of my new favorite Thai restaurants! It's not a fancy restaurant, but perfect for when you're looking for a quick dinner. We got the dumplings as an appetizer (thank you Yelp check-in), drunken noodles with fried tofu, and duck curry. The drunken noodles were delicious and were very flavorful. I could have handled a lot more spice though! The duck curry was my favorite! The duck was juicy and the pineapple paired perfectly with the duck and curry sauce. The curry was so good that my boyfriend drank the remaining curry sauce, without any rice. read more

The food was hot and delicious. There is ample seating inside the restaurant and outside. The menu is a bit large and overwhelming. I also think the service is really good and have the To-Go system down. My only issue is the area near the cashier is a mess. It looks like they use it as the restaurant's office. It's covered in books, other people's food, restaurant supplies and maybe some personal items. read more

Thai Select is right around the corner from me and I've been wanting to get it for months. I ordered take out off their website, they had a couple of deals running like 10% off the order and 50% off of select apps which was awesome! I decided to try the Kanom Jeeb because of this and it was delicious, if you are a dumpling fan these are the way to go. Their yellow curry is super flavorful and had the perfect amount of veggies and chicken. The amount of curry they give you is definitely enough for two people, but the rice only serves one, I'd get a little extra next time. On a busy Friday night, our food was ready within 20 minutes, I highly recommend getting takeout from here in the future! read more

Food was prepared quickly. Crab rangoons were very good! I would recommend those! Pad Se Ew had a good overall flavor but the noodles were way overcooked. They were mushy and a little rubbery, definitely not the texture they should be. Mango and sticky rice was just ok. Not sure about the ambiance and service because we ordered through Grubhub. read more

The drunken noodles were 10/10. Very spicy just like I like it. Just get em, you won't be disappointed

Overall, solid 3. The small plates were the best thing but the main courses were severely lacking. The rice was probably the best thing out of the main course, and I did enjoy the crab rangoon. The drunken noodles with shrimp were missing the spice I asked for and I never understand why restaurants keep the tail on shrimp for noodle dishes, but I digress. If this is the option you have for Thai, I would recommend loading up on the butterfly shrimp small plate, chicken dumplings and crab rangoon. Being that I know more Thai places in the area, I wouldn't frequent again but definitely wish them the best. Oh! We did love their containers for take out, super cute and chic. read more

Solid spot to order take out from! We've never stopped in to sit down, so can't say much about service or atmosphere. We love their pad Thai (always enough for leftovers), apps, and their Penang curry is delicious! It's a 2-3 times a month spot for us! read more

Thai Select used to be one of my favorite restaurants. I was a once-a-week customer. But the price has gone up and the quality way, way done. The entrees now have "shredded chicken" which look like pre-digested bits of kitchen scraps. The night after I ate here I had a stomach ache and bad diarrhea. I'm done with this place. read more

I ordered pad Thai lunch combo that comes with dumplings and Tom yum soup. I also got kanom jeeb, mango and sticky rice. The pad Thai was super bland, no flavor. Dumplings were gross and doughy. Tom yum soup was ok. Kanom jeeb was tough and also lacked flavor. Mango was sweet but sticky rice was covered in large amount of cream sauce that was SUPER salty. The kind of salty that leaves your tongue numb. I honestly felt so nauseous after the meal. Do not recommend. read more

Thai Select is the best option for Asian Cusine in the Rosslyn area! With tons of flavors and spices, it makes this restaurant amazing. Obviously did take out with what's going on so couldn't judge the sit down option. The staff are friendly, explaining the menu and working promptly so prepare our food. Ordered the lunch special for $10 which includes soup, dumplings or egg rolls, and an entree. The beef and tofu pad se eew was phenomenal. Only reason for 4 stars is the portion was very lacking. It was like if someone had eaten half of the food before serving it. Other than that, I would definitely come back for their other dishes. read more

So So Disappointed. All the dishes (different ones) looked and tasted exactly the same - bland and very very greasy. Vegetables were conspicuous by their absence. It was all super cheap rice noodles and oil and more oil. We had made 1 request about the dish which was promptly ignored. Horrible service. Small Portion, Big Cost. Meh. read more

Not a good review but not for the usual things - service was good as was the food, but .... I had beef panang curry and sticky rice. Good flavor and kick. Maybe on the small side portion wise. But I enjoyed it. Nothing else to comment on the food because I was eating solo (cat sitting for a sick cat again) and Thai Select is within walking distance of my daughter's condo. And though I didn't park, there is a good size parking lot but there are a lot of restaurants in that strip where Thai Select is located. Service was good. The receipt says the servers name was Lunch? But if that was it or not (I was eating at dinner time, 7 PM), he was quick and efficient. took my order, food came quickly, and he picked up my dishes and brought the bill after asking if I needed anything else. Clearly the food is good because they were doing an amazing pick-up service. Grub and Eats pickups, and a lot of customers picking up their dinner. But therein lies the rub. Good for the restaurant but not so much for customers dining in. The line for pickups is right between the two columns of tables, so I had someone essentially standing next to me the entire time I was eating. Well not someone, many someone's. My recommendation. don't eat in until they do a redesign of their food pick-ups, otherwise just skip eating in the restaurant and do a pick-up yourself. No pictures for this review but there are a lot posted on Yelp. read more

This is my third time coming here, fairly new just opened. The inside of the restaurant has a very soft and welcoming vibe. The walls are a very nice lavender purple and they are always playing calming jazz music. They have an open kitchen that can be seen from the seating. Very family "mom n pop" owned place so you get first hand excellent service. They are always referring popular dishes as well as new special ones. I made it in time for their lunch box special that includes an option for either a single spring roll or two veggie dumplings along a side of soup which changes daily. I ordered the number 9 box lunch which was red curry with tofu and vegetables. It was spicy, sweet and creamy. The tofu was perfectly cooked and had a good bite to it. It came with a side of white rice which tasted amazing with the red curry sauce. The other order was a pad Thai with perfectly cooked beef. Very generous portion for a lunch box and just the right amount of spice. All lunch boxes have your option of meat types even veggie or tofu. After a good meal don't forget to get one of their delicious bubble teas, I recommend the black tea with boba. read more

What a major disappointment for a first try of Thai Select. Just look at the photos and judge for yourself. The Thai Select "chicken" wings were unforgivable. Not only did they appeared to have been re-fried three four times, they still had hairs on them, the meat looked greasy and tough. They don't even resemble chicken wings. Not sure what kind of meat it is but it's going in the trash. The Drunken Noodle was as bland as can be and the "beef" was also very tough. The whole meal made me sick. read more

So, I'm tired of poor customer service from this restaurant!! I moved from another state currently. Just trying this restaurant and ordered a eggplant entree with white rice. I was very hungry and wanted to dine in. The staff gave me take out. When I dine in, another staff looked like unhappy, and he saw I had a takeout plastic bag and he believe I should "Take out "instead of "Dine in". And then I asked a hot water caused by the inclument weather. He looked like unhappy and ignored my requests. He was implite and never saied ''SORRY" to me! The staffs did not respect new customers like me. (This is my first time to try this restaurant and I will never return. So bad experiences at Thai Select.) read more

The food was amazing. I had the drunken noodles with chicken and the soup and spring roll. The spring roll was cooked to perfection and the soup was really REALLY good. Im not a tofu person so I didnt touch it but I still ate the rest of the soup which also had carrots, broccoli and cabbage in it. The drunken noodles were spicy but not too spicy however the noodles were too overcooked and soft which kind of taken away from the it. I ended up eating some of my friend's rice with mine in order for me to finish eating it. The spinach in it was good as well. will be returning read more

Ordered take out from here a couple nights ago. The place is small and the takeout order was ready fast. The best sushi rolls we had were the Alaskan roll and the spider roll. The spicy salmon roll and tuna avocado rolls were just ok. We also got deep fried vegetable gyoza which personally I prefer pan fried not deep fried. The other thing we got was drunken noodles, thai hot, and they were actually very spicy which was awesome. I think next time I may get medium hot instead just so my sinuses don't clear as much haha but then again they were so good. I really liked my pad see ew and the rainbow roll that we ordered, it was really decent and flavorful. They didn't include chopsticks for the sushi roll or any soy sauce so that was a bummer. This is a disappointment for sure. I spent 15 dollars on a meal that was brought out to me in 5 minutes in a metal tin with day old chicken and over cooked udon noodles. I go to restaurants for an elevated culinary experience and I feel like places that do this underhanded not actually fresh food and don't even have the care to bring the elements in the dish to uniform temperature are really shady and annoying. I recognize that i spent a while in the food industry and i have higher standards that most but With so many decent Thai places in this area this would be one to avoid. read more
