Thai Nam Phet will be my new go to Thai spot in the area! I ordered the green curry which is my usual order at any Thai restaurant. It was delicious and a good portion that I had leftovers. My husband had the panang curry which was even better and I will definitely get that next time! We also loved the mango sticky rice which was warm served with sweet ripe mango. I was looking for a good Thai restaurant near my neighborhood. Then I saw Thai Nam Phet. Their satay chicken is soft and tasty. The sauce is not the thick one but pretty flavorful. The store outside is very cute, with Thai flavored interior decor. We ordered Hoy Kra Prow from their Spring specials. The mussels were delicious and juicy; and the roasted chili sauce really went well with the mussels. I really enjoyed their chicken fried rice. It might seem like a simple dish, but to find a place that cook good fried rice is not easy. The staffs were very friendly - coming to check with us three to four times, and getting our orders right. Tham Nan Phet is hands-down one of my favorite places to eat. Today, traffic on Route 80 near Exit 35 in Rockaway was brutal, turning our usual 30-minute drive into something much longer; but even with the delay, it was so worth it. The food is always delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. If you love spicy food, do not skip the "spice tray"it seriously kicks everything up a notch in the best way. The service is always warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere feels relaxed and inviting. Whether it's a quick dinner or a special outing, this place never misses. We were on our way back from a party in Nj and wanted to grab dinner. I found this spot on Yelp and with the reviews, thought it would not be that bad. So first the restaurant is so outdated. There are wooden plank wall panels meshed with blue booth couches, it looks so bizarre. The restaurant just did not look modern. The service however was excellent and attentive. The food on the other hand, left little to be missed. We ordered the chicken satay, which were 3 skewers and was so dry and bland. The peanut sauce was mediocre, I've had better. We also ordered a coconut based soup, which was actually good! And then got the chicken green curry which was so watery and barely had any flavor. It was so watered down and diluted. It was perhaps one of the worst green curry I've ever had. Sad as I had high hopes for this spot, however this completely missed the mark. The service was the only good spot. read more

This place was on our list to try and we came here for dinner last week, the place did not disappoint. We were greeted as we entered, it is not a huge spot and looks like run as a family business. Our server was super nice and accommodating. We ordered a couple of things(fried rice, pad kra pow, drunken noodles and Thai ice tea), everything was super flavorful and delicious. Ordered mussels in sweet chilly sauce: superb sauce, which went well with curry puffs we also ordered which were a bit dry. Entrees were crispy duck and seafood plate, again both superb. I also ordered a Thai ice coffee with coconut milk: very sweet, very tasty, perfect for after finishing spicy food. Asked for medium spicy, and got just what we wanted. We had the tofu triangles to start and they were perfectly crisp and the dipping sauce was delicious. I had the panang curry with tofu which was absolutely delicious. A lot of depth of flavor. It was slightly spicy but it mostly added to the complexity of the flavor. The person I went with had drunken noodles with tofu, which he said was good but nothing to write home about. My wife and I have been looking for a new Thai restaurant and many people we know recommended Thai Namphet. Last night, we were in Rockaway and had the opportunity to try this place. At first we were just going to do takeout, but it looked so nice we decided to dine in. This is a very nice little restaurant with all tables socially distanced. The menu had a lot of great choices. I decided to go with Drunken Noodles and my wife had Chicken with Cashew Nuts. The food was delicious! They also serve large portions so I'll be having the leftover chicken for lunch today! The garden salad was very fresh and the ginger dressing was out of this world and they didn't skimp on it either. The pad Thai was very good. It was slightly burnt as some other reviewers have said, but it wasn't distasteful and actually grows on you as you eat it. The one star spice was perfect. I used to do five stars but have cut back as I've gotten older. I like the flavor and a slight kick but not misery. When I get one star, sometimes I'll ask for something to boost it, but this didn't need it. Overall, I'd give this trip a 4.5 star review. read more

This is one of two eateries with the same owners. We're fans of the Newton place and now, we can add Rockaway to the very good Thai list. We started with curry puffs and chicken satay - our favorites. The WOW factor kicked in. So very good! We had their shrimp special and thought it was inventive and served in a huge portion. I work in Budd Lake and wanted to try a new Thai place with some coworkers. This place was a bit out of the way but decided to try it out anyway because of the great reviews. On a Tuesday at 12pm, it was PACKED, but we were able to get a table fairly quickly. I ordered my usual pad see ew, I didn't see the squid option on the menu so I just got the shrimp. Food came out really quickly and was delicious! The vegetables in my dish were a bit undercooked and hard, but the noodles were great. They also used regular sized shrimp unlike a few other places that use the baby ones, so that was a big plus. Wish it was a bit closer to the office so I could come here for lunch, but definitely worth the drive out there. Will be back soon. read more

The sauce was flavorful, the noodles were soft and chewy, and the vegetables were fresh. However, the chicken was a little overcooked and the dish was a bit too oily, but other than that, I highly recommend ordering the Drunken Noodles. I also order the Crispy Duck Salad. The duck was meaty and very crispy, however I was not a fan at how sour the sauce was. Like the other dish, the vegetables were fresh and tasted great.
