Nice spot for a Chinese food or sushi. Convenient to the local hotel and all the shops. Nice cozy indoor seating and good service. Food was flavorful. The fried dumplings and beef on a stick were great appetizers. The tangerine beef was sweet and spicy delicious.

I visited East Cafe on a dumpling recommendation and they were pretty good! It was only my second time trying dumplings and these were definitely better then my first try! I ordered pork and chicken steamed dumplings and I think I liked the chicken more (sauce was good too). As always, I ordered chicken and broccoli with rice and with extra sauce ($1 up-charge). The sauce given was different then the sauce used on the dish but upon asking was able to be accommodated. I thought the flavors were good but some of the broccoli could have been steamed a little more. I do not eat seafood or sushi so I cannot speak on those dishes but for everything else, I would return.

So…read morewhen I found Qin Dynasty in North Jersey, I was willing to make the trek - especially since I had a dim sum craving one weekend. We got there at around 11 on a Saturday. It was crowded but not packed yet. We were seated right away (your whole party needs to be there). There are so many options for dim sum - some that you don't even typically see in Brooklyn/Chinatown. For example, I saw some lobster tails, and a giant cheesy oyster that looked really good but I'm sure they were $$$. We stuck to the dim sum basics - ha gao, shumai, beef churng fun, chicken feet, chicken sticky rice, steamed cha siu baos, and tofu pudding. I don't have any complaints about the dim sum. All were good and some were even better than ones in NYC. And let me tell you - they do not skimp on the meat here. The ha gaos and shumais were so plump! Since it's a rarity that we get to have authentic Chinese food, we also ordered the salted fish and diced chicken fried rice, and the pan-fried noodles with beef. Both were good and had lots of meat. Service was surprisingly attentive - unlike in NYC where it takes forever to flag down a waiter. Our waiter was always nearby and seemed happy to help with our requests of water, chili oil, etc. I think we might have found our go-to Cantonese restaurant. It's just a shame it isn't closer to home.

The great thing about eating dimsum in an 18 person group is that you get to try everything in a happy, non-rushed environment. So many dumplings, rice noodles, seafood and sweet dishes to choose from. I loved the rice noodles with beef and also with shrimp, the baked roast pork buns, sesame balls, shumai ... the list goes on. I don't usually get dessert but the mango and coconut puddings were so good. I also liked the egg tarts. It was a very genuine experience and I'm glad I got to try. It's very refreshing to not have to travel to NYC for great dimsum!

Tofu and Fish hotpot: Fried white fish, fried tofu, string beans, bell peppers in a sauce that is probably reduced chicken stock. I'm biased since it's one of my favorite chinese dishes. I don't know when this specific dish is amazing, but I can tell you when it's bad. Green Lake's version is anything but bad. Shrimp Stuffed Tofu: We were given a sample since they were trying something new. The sauce is similar to the tofu hotpot but has a porkier feel because of the ground pork within the dish. The tofu is the same, but the way they fried it is different, so it took a step up. The shrimp was fine, and I think they should have this on their menu. Whole Fried Chicken: It's fine. Didn't love it. There's no batter to speak of at all, and you're reliant on the spicy sauce and ginger sauce provided. Stir Fried French Beans w/ Salted Fish: Crunchy French Beans, and very salty salted fish. Not my favorite, but it keeps things different. Hot prawn salad with broccoli: The broccoli was just boiled. Nothing to talk about. The pawn was fried and bathed in mayonnaise. What's not to like? Pork Chop: This is another Chinese restaurant staple. 85% of the chinese porkchops that you eat will taste the same. This one is no different. Hokkien Fried Rice: My chinese restaurant guilty pleasure. How else can you get a shrimp fried rice bathed in an umami sauce? The restaurant did a really good job with this and I'm glad that I asked if they had it (in chinese). Service: It was a slow night, so we had all the attention that our table needed. Ambiance: The location is big and can support small families to larger gatherings. They have a private area that fits 30+ people, so they look like the go-to spot for parties.

Be sure to ask about the ingredients if you don't want pork or meat in a dish. We went for the first time Sunday at like 3pm? Full. Take out orders flying out the door. It's a cute place. Standard strip mall aesthetic. But they do have a window where you can see them hand pulling the noodles. That's right, hand pulling the noodles which is the main attraction. The food is from the North Western part of China near Pakistan so there are some Indian influences like their Cumin lamb and pulled noodles one of their most popular dishes. But I'm getting ahead of myself. With my vegetarian wife who as usual ruins everything by insisting we order vegetarian appetizers. Scallion pancakes were delicious. No pictures because we ate them immediately. Pan fried dumpling. 9 of them. That's a big portion. And it was like 9-10 bucks? They make their own dumpling wrappers, their own dipping sauces. Dumplings were very good. You could really taste the vegetables. Focused on the quality of the ingredients. My wife had the hand pulled noodles in hot oil. Marked spicy it was American spicy. Did not blow your head off. O enjoyed them. They give you a pair of scissors. Because it's one long noodle. Do not use them on your birthday. More on that later. I had the aforementioned cumin lamb and pulled noodles. I liked it but it was overwhelmingly cumin flavored which obviously is the point of cumin lamb. I'm not saying over seasoned I'm just saying it announced itself as this is cumin lamb. Period. We also had bubble tea! How fun is that? My wife had taro which they made with non dairy milk for her. I had pomegranate with exploding bubbles. Never had those before. Also super fun. They did not explode in an American way or even a Chinese way as both countries let's face it are pretty well known for making things explode. No in a pleasant way. Waitress was delightful we had obviously a long conversation about the food and the restaurant. The scissors are for Americans who share their food. In China you would eat the noodles slurp them without cutting them because eating long noodles especially on your birthday is supposed to promote a long life. We did not learn this until after cutting my wife's noodles. It was her birthday. I will miss her but also look forward to meat based appetizers. One door closes and all that. They also own the bakery a few doors down. Very light chiffon style cakes. Not too sweet. Chocolate Oreo cake. I asked if that was very traditional. Oh how we laughed at my hilarious joke.

The dumplings were flavorful, hot, and perfectly steamed. They were definitely the highlight of our meal. Next came the beef pancake which was crunchy, chewy, had excellent flavor, but slightly heavy on the sauce. Lastly, was the braised beef noodle soup. The broth's flavor was on the mild side, whilst relying on the spice's heat to shine as the primary flavor. The beef was also mild, but especially tender. There was also a good amount of proteins in the soup and the hand pulled noodles were perfectly thick and chewy. Overall it was a great dish for a chilly night out.

I ordered the shrimp rolls, meatless turnip cake, hot & sour soup, veggie dumplings, chive dumplings, and (very ambitiously) General Tso's chicken. Every dish was delicious, but the chive dumplings were the standout--perfect texture, fresh flavor, and not heavy at all. I could've easily ordered more. The hot & sour soup was comforting, and everything felt well-balanced rather than greasy. I was too full to fully enjoy the General Tso's, but even a few bites were great. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and they validate parking (I thought it would be free, but it ended up being a reduced rate, which is still a great perk).

The Real Deal for Dim Sum in Westchester…read more If you're looking for white tablecloths and a fancy vibe, Aberdeen Seafood & Dim Sum probably isn't your spot. The decor is basic, and it's tucked inside the Marriott Residence Inn--you literally have to walk through the hotel lobby, hang a left, and look for the massive brass door. But if you're here for the food? You're in the right place. I've eaten my way through a ton of dim sum spots in NYC, and honestly, Aberdeen holds its own against all of them. The quality and freshness of the ingredients are just on another level. You aren't going to run into those annoying bits of rubbery cartilage or bone that ruin a good dumpling; everything is clean, fresh, and handmade daily. I'm actually drooling a bit just thinking about my last visit. Pro-Tips for Your Visit: * Timing is everything: Weekends are absolute chaos with lines out the door. If you can swing a weekday, do it--you'll walk right in. * The Waitlist: If there is a crowd, find the QR code near the entrance to jump in the digital queue. * Parking: It's all metered street parking. Make sure you have the Park White Plains app ready to go on your phone. * How to Order: The staff handles your drinks, but you'll use the QR code at your table to put in your food order. That said, the servers are still happy to answer questions if you're unsure about a dish. What to Order (and What to Skip) The Shrimp Noodle Crepe, Har Gaw, and both the Pork and Seafood Shui Mai are non-negotiables. I also highly recommend the Ham Sui Gok, Bean Curd Skin Roll, and the Steam Pork Buns. If you need some greens, the Chinese Broccoli is the way to go. One warning: Skip the soup dumplings. They're a bit small and lack that hit of broth you'd expect. If you're craving XLB, you're better off heading to Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao. Overall, Aberdeen is easily the best dim sum in Westchester and Fairfield counties. It's all about the flavor and texture here--the ambiance is an afterthought, and that's perfectly fine by me.
