The overall look of the establishment is a bit run-down and unorganized . When I first entered, the workers looked at me and continued in conversation before approaching me, no greeting was given just asked what I wanted. I ordered a boneless rib with fries, as well as an order of fried wontons. After my first few bites of both ribs and wontons I was wondering if this was intended to be a jaw workout instead of a meal. Everything except for the fries was overcooked. Since we're all doing what we can to support our local businesses, my wife and I decided to try a different Chinese restaurant nearby for lunch. We've driven past Bally Dar forever, but this was the first time ordering from them. Due to COVID, you can only enter the doorway of the restaurant, which is fine. When you call to order, you're assigned a number and when you get there, you pickup and pay behind a plastic partition. Now the food... it was excellent! We both had lunch special. I had chicken with cashews and my wife had chicken with pineapple. Wow! We really loved the meals. As usual, I wish I ordered what my wife did, because while mine was very good, hers was amazing!! The local Chinese restaurant, I order from here for delivery but came to grab it for dinner tonight since I was out. The guys are nice, considering they are all doing a bunch of things. The smell here is "fried" to say the least. I wish I would have ordered the sweet and sour shrimp as I'm watching him wrap someone else's and it looks so yummy, perfect light batter, piping hot and sauce on the side ! Any who for delivery they are usually very fast from the moment you order, I expected a small wait since I didn't call ahead. Find some of the 1 star reviews funny when people complain about the lack of substitutions, this isn't a burger king, their slogan isn't have it your way. A by product of a entitled generation. So , I picked up a to go order . Attempted to pay with a $50 bill ( order was 20) the clerk held it up to the light, called over another employee to bring the pen to mark it, which he did.. and marked another bill out of his pocket to compare side by side to my bill. The original clerk says a few words and then holds it up to the light AGAIN. I have no issue with them looking at it , highlighting it .. but by the third time ?? Prices are really good for the quality of food. I have been here twice and first time I got the veggie udon. So delicious. Then second time I got the shrimp udon soup. It was equally as good. We have been going to Bally Dar for 20+ years...we have always enjoyed it- that is, until our last 3 delivery orders. VERY disappointed. Each of those three times, something has been missing from our order. We hadn't complained because we know accidents happen but tonight was just too much. Each meal that was ordered was missing something crucial - sweet n sour chicken was missing the sweet and sour sauce. The brown sauce we ordered (and paid extra for) was missing. The chicken and broccoli was so dry there was hardly any sauce in it. Scallion pancakes - no sauce. Dumplings - no sauce. We called to complain since we had company over who now couldn't eat their food and we were told that they would send the missing things ASAP.. we waited over an hour for the missing items to come but by that time our guests gave up and went home with incomplete meals.
