Absolutely the best Thai food I have had in the U.S. I love Thai and have been to a lot of places. We discovered this place while driving from flagstaff to Arizona. Ordered the red chicken curry and basil chicken. The vegetables were grade 1 extremely fresh and chicken was perfectly made. Portions were so big and price was just right. I don't know where to begin to tell you guys how ecstatic and satisfied I am. So I moved to this area around 2 years ago. May I add I am filipino and my usual diet back at my moms would be jasmine rice 24/7 and whatever filipino dish she had going on. Since I moved I haven't had any delicious jasmine rice and dish lately sadly. FF to today, my husband left to work and I decided to browse DoorDash since I was hungry. I searched carefully, tried filipino restaurants but unfortunately don't deliver. I came across Thai Lotus and honestly reading their menu, it was the closest thing I'll ever get. I DONT REGRET IT AT ALL, my gosh the food is absolutely DELICIOUS. I ordered a Panang Crispy Fish that comes w jasmine rice, and I ordered an extra side of Jasmine rice (I've been craving it for so long). When I received it I got a nice styrofoam box full of Jasmine rice, and it was such a beautiful view that I wanted to cry. And then I got a generous amount of the fish. I'm still eating and I'm on my 2nd bowl right now, I can't even go into detail about how happy I am and how happy my tummy is. Thank you Thai Lotus, I now know the best place to order from!! I was recently given Fridays off at my job and honestly I want to make this an every Friday thing if I'm not broke lol 10-04-19 I'm really trying to keep my promise about an every Friday order here lol. The outside of this place is very dull looking, but the inside is not bad. What I love about this place is that they have so many choices to choose from on their menu! We got the appetizer that is a combination of most of the appetizers. It's was not good. For $10, it was a plate of fried small fried stuff. It was not appetizing at all. My order was lava fish. It was cat fish served with bamboo shoots and veggies. My order came and the lady was putting the plate down and she accidentally tilted and it almost spilled over me. Instead, I moved so it only spilled on parts of my arm. The lady apologized and felt bad for doing that. It wasn't a deal to me because the lady was nice. I did not expect the fish to be tiny fried pieces. I expected it to be fresh fish that they just chop and add in some pieces. But it felt like something you would get from a frozen aisle to fry. I am going to say this is my favorite Thai restaurant in Phoenix. The girls here are so welcoming and so generous. They remember our faces and remember what we order as well. The owner is so friendly and like to have small talk with us. I get to the vegetarian Tom yum soup with veggies. Oh my goodness it is so good. Sour and spicy at the same time. It contains mushrooms, baby corn, carrots, cabbage and broccoli. And I always bring my own noodle bags to add into the hot pot while it boils. The sweet mango and sticky rice is for dessert. I have a lot of great things to say about this place. When I first moved to Phoenix this restaurant was one of the very first restaurants I dined at. I also began to dine here quite frequently after I moved closer to this restaurant. So I used to come here once a week for their happy hour which is absolutely a great deal. Two appetizers for 10 dollars and discounted alcohol. I usually would get the shrimp tempura and crab rangoons for my appetizers. However when I was not here for happy hour, I always ordered the crispy spring rolls. As for entrees, I've had their curries and they are great. However my default order (that the waitresses happened to remember) was either pad thai or pad-see-ew with fish. I don't know what it is, but their pad thai and pad see ew is absolutely amazing. I know I could get other proteins, but for some reason, fish for me, is the perfect protein for these dishes. Overall if I lived a lot closer to this restaurant still, I know I would still be frequenting this restaurant. My (6'2" and growing) teenaged son and I happened to be visiting family in the Phoenix area when we decided to swing by Thai Lotus for a quick bite. As vegetarians, we LOVE Thai food and were thrilled to find a restaurant on the way to visit a friend who lives in the area. The food was tasty. We ordered the golden tofu, spring rolls and a couple of entrees (pad thai and a crispy noodle dish, the name of which escapes me). My son also wanted tom yum. Everything was spiced to perfection and brought out promptly. What I don't understand is... what's up with picking on the customers? "Wow! You're ordering ALL THAT? That's a lot of food!" If I could give zero stars I would. Let me first start by saying we order threw GrubHub probably once a week for work. Everything was to be expected except for one thing. One of our plates had a piece of metal in it. My coworker didn't notice it until it was sticking in between his teeth. This was something he definitely couldn't swallowed and caused a huge issue. I know many reviews start out just as this one is, but I can't hardly believe the 4 and 5 star reviews at this spot. On a whim, I stopped in, feeling like some veggies, I ordered up some tempura. I know, I know, tempura is fried and it sorta unqualified veggies as a healthy option, but why the heck not! The tempura had tons of breading had to be a solid 1/2 inch thick, it was more like caked than lightly battered, I picked the batter off and ate the few veggies that tasted ok. Still on the healthy-esq kick, I went with garlic chicken sub veggies for the rice. Well, the chicken was *way overcooked, and seriously under flavored, and the veggies, the vegetables were not even palatable, think out of a can or freezer then boiled. I didn't even dent the meal, they asked if I wanted the rest to take home... Uhh, You can keep your doggie bag, no thanks! But the wait staff was super friendly, too bad it doesn't come close to making up for this quality of food. My first review: I don't know if it's because I order late in the day, but the curries come out somewhat thin and watery? And the portions are small. Will stock with Thai Basil. Now: I had forgotten I had written a poor review of this place one night when I ordered delivery. I ordered a green curry and the spicy basil noodles with tofu. I was sadly disappointed again. The curry was thicker this time, thankfully, but lacked depth of flavor. I could taste no fish sauce in either dish, nor ginger. It was bland. I also asked for a medium spice and it was not spicy at all. The noodles were very greasy and I almost couldn't eat them. I actually opened my cupboard and added some shrimp paste and salt to my curry to spruce it up. A lot of people love this restaurant, and for those that want American Thai, which is more muted in flavor and less spicy then go for it! I would recommend Thai Basil, or Red Thai if you want a more authentic flavor with spice. read more

I have to give this place three stars. This time for the food not the service. Consistency is the biggest issue with the food. Let me start by saying that I have been here many times, always because it's where my friends choose to come. Personally I wouldn't go back if it were up to me. Service is great, the owners and staff are very sweet and take very good care of their customers. They are trying to make it work in an old IHOP building. They haven't changed it at all, but it's clean. The parking lot however is a total disaster...Reminds me of the Tenderloin in San Francisco! The light rail construction has also hurt them I'm sure. Food though is very hit or miss. I have been a little disappointed the last three visits. Many appetizers seem to be store bought instead of homemade. The entrees are decent but I have high expectations after spending months in Thailand over the past couple of years. Some things are just lacking flavor. Other things are good. Like I said, it's more about the consistency. To be fair here are a few things that have been good there...Thai toast (one of the few that are homemade), beef noodle soup, beef salad and Thai iced tea! We had the Shrimp Pineapple Curry, chicken sauté with peanut sauce, fresh coconut shrimp with sweet chile sauce, cucumber salad and such a sweet lady answered the phone. It was all Fantastic!!! Just enough heat to not compete with the flavor, which is excellent. The Galangal (Thai Ginger) in the soup is not recommended to be eaten by the Staff, but you can if you like. We also did not eat the bamboo shoots as they were very fibrous, and I meant to ask about them too, but failed too as I was distracted by all the great food and Tsing Tao beer ( $3.50 HH ). My buddy ordered the Red Curry with Chicken and it was sweet and delicious with jasmine rice cooked perfectly. I ordered the Tilapia in Tamarind Sauce, Medium, but didn't really notice any heat. That could of been because I was happily enjoying what a great fish this was!! Super crispy skin, and tender tasty flesh. Do yourself a favor and use the plastic glove they give you and eat the fish with your hands. The Staff was impressed I was "eating it correctly", LOL! I will be going back again for this dish!! Al that was left was a few fins and some bones. I read some bad reviews, but I noticed mostly people who ordered delivery or were disappointed in the amount of meat in their order. If you want more meat, order one of the dishes that focuses on the meats and not more of a mix. Also, try eating outside your comfort zone and try some new dishes - at the restaurant. Most Asian foods are far superior served fresh to your table. Thai food is also traditionally eaten with a fork, so don't ask for chop sticks unless you actually prefer eating with them. Wonderful dinner there this evening. I asked for the "best thing on the menu" and was directed to the Pumpkin Curry - definitely was a great choice! I have not seen that on a menu in ages! Appetizer of soup was fantastic as well - though I don't recall the Thai name, it was "Tom..." the one without coconut milk in order to reduce the calories a bit. TASTY! Staff is friendly, food is good, atmosphere is relaxing and enjoyable. I live very close and see me returning here time and time again. DO NOT BE PUT OFF BY THE LIGHTRAIL CONSTRUCTION... we need more places like this on the 19th ave corridor, so I encourage all to give this place a shot. read more

It was a rainy day but my wife and I were craving Thai - so we ordered delivery through Yelp (serviced by Grubhub). Got three entrees with the intention of leftovers - Silver Noodle Pad Thai, Roasted Duck Pineapple Curry, and House Fried Rice. We like spice, so ordered each one "Hot", which is the second level from the top. The Pad Thai certainly came out hot - about as hot as I would have expected given our selection. Unfortunately, it had no other flavors - the only thing you could taste was spice. This option is supposed to come with shrimp and chicken - had two shrimp. The chicken was fine. The curry was criminally underseasoned - no heat to it at all, no other spices either. The sweetness from the pineapple was interesting but couldn't make up for an overall bland dish. Duck ended up too chewy. The fried rice also was way underseasoned. Given the dish I wouldn't have expected much heat to it (though there was the option to select it!) but it could have certainly used some more salt and some more umami. They played soothing music that made me want to get a massage. The reason for the four rating and not five is due to following: After getting our food we were not acknowledged nor were our drinks filled. They past by several times and we tried to grab their attention and they kept walking by. After finishing our food they did not come to our table for about 15 minutes. Won't go back! Husband & I ordered take out. Pumpkin curry & red curry. Usually these are safe dishes if you are a gluten free vegetarian. I am not new to Thai food or extremely hot food. I usually order my food double thai hot & usually get a 5 on a scale of 1-10. Hubby order thai hot & I ordered dbl thai hot. Both were the same heat level (around an 8 for me) he could not eat his because it was too hot. So I got 2 meals. I ate some of my curry that night (it was OK food not great). Later that night I was up several times with diarrhea & had it the next day too. I took some of hubby's curry to work for lunch today & spent most of my day in the bathroom. I sure hope this doesn't last 2 days also. I feel as though the curry here is not vegetarian although we asked for vegetarian. 2 laxative meals cost $45 dollars, I could have just bought exlax for $3. read more
