Went here for dinner in a large group without reservation or calling ahead and we were seated rather quickly as the friendly staff rushed to push tables together. The menu is easy to understand and they are serious about the 1-5 spice levels. I tried the Pad Thai and Fried Rice and the portion sizes were very impressive, definitely a great spot for a casual dining experience. As per any relatively new restaurant there are changes being made as I heard that dinner was at first a "order at the counter then seat yourself" versus now waiting to be seated. The decor was simple and low key. The food again, big portions, yet maybe more vegetables and more protein can be included? I didn't order a primarily veggie dish but the fried rice for instance had hardly any vegetables and egg which is what I look forward to in fried rice. The spice levels are to be taken seriously, I ordered a 1 level spice as I can not handle much and I was a bit surprised at the heat! The biggest issue was the sloooow service. A combination of the waiter taking an order from a party that was seated after we were and apparently the kitchen's emphasis on filling takeout orders made for a long wait. At least 3 other parties that arrived after us were served their food before we were served. Having been a waitress for many years, this is a cardinal rule: first in, first order taken, and depending on what was ordered, either an app or main dish, the first served. We did not order any drinks so that was not the issue. At one point our server took our salad plates and asked us if we were ready for our check! So we had to tell him we were still waiting for our food! Combination of poor management and lack of server training? The kitchen thing also needs to be addressed. The food is good. read more

It's ok for Thai flavors. Their spice scale is way off. I ordered "thai hot" and was served a canadien peppered dish. It's their as far as dish composition but the spice level is way off. Pataya Thailand would be shedding tears for the lack of spiceyness. read more

Stopped for lunch on my way to Missoula. I was expecting genuine pho when I ordered the beef pho. It was about $5 more than I've paid for a small bowl anywhere.There was no small plate with bean sprouts, basil leaves, and jalapeno slices to add in. There were bean sprouts added into the soup, hereafter called soup, and some shredded basil leaves in it. The beef was round steak and meatballs. The meatballs were as big as large marbles. There was a good amount of meat in the soup, but since the bowl is very small it really wasn't that much. Noodles in the soup were not traditional rice noodles. All that said, it was real good soup. Very beefy broth which is critical in good soup. I had tea with the soup and it was good. Excellent friendly servers. I had a good bowl of soup, a cup of tea, left a tip and it was $20. We order pickup or delivery from here almost weekly. They pad Thai and the orange chicken are amazing. The orange chicken isn't the overly sweet boring commercial kind it's got a lot of flavor instead of lots of sugar and is really good to add some heat to. My new favorite spot! Great Thai flavors and everything we've tried has been great but my FAVORITE, by far, are the stir fried dishes. The vegetables are so crispy with super flavorful sauce, unlike some places with limp soggy vegetables and little flavor. They do a much better job than I can at home. Love love love the Fried Spicy stir fry Dish, I could eat it at least once a week. We usually do Take-out and it arrives home still hot & crispy. read more

We stopped in on our way through, traveling back to Indiana, for lunch. My wife had the spicy basil and I had the massaman curry. As we arrived at the tail end of lunch, it seemed that our waitress was busy with other duties. Took what seemed forever to get a refill of water. Portions are too small and food is bland. I ordered the lunch special Thai mixed vegetables which had very little flavor and just too small of a portion. Order my food for delivery, first of all there's aren't any utensils packed with my food upon delivered , I called the restaurant and the woman replied sorry there's nothing she can do, I'm in a hotel room and she expected me to eat with my hands. Second of all the foods I ordered especially the beef salad is very watering and the beef was chewy, I end up tossed in the garbage, my others food was not up to par as well.. I loved the Drunken Noodles, and it also helps that the beer inside Outlaw is all fantastic as well. Spring rolls were delicious, just all together a fantastic meal. Great service, a little pricy, but great location right next to Outlaw. Definitely will be back for late lunches to get a beer from Outlaw as well. read more

I was a little skeptical of this place due to the reviews I read but the food was good. Not the best Thai I've ever had and a little pricey but for Bozeman it was good. The decor was minimal and kind of plain which is unlike most Thai restaurants. Thai basil has a great atmosphere, amazing and authentic Thai food. I love to come here because their staff are always so pleasant and engaging with my two daughters. It is hard to find places like this in Bozeman anymore where you don't feel like a fish out of water because you have kids. read more

While picking up takeout I counted no less than 5 employees wearing masks incorrectly (below the nose) or not at all. In addition, other customers were allowed inside without masks. Next time I won't be able to patronize a business that is so careless with the lives and health of their own employees and customers. (Don't forget -- the point of wearing a mask is to protect others!) It's too bad because (1) the food was good, and (2) such a small effort can make such a big difference in avoiding tragedy. I hope Thai Basil soon joins most other places in Bozeman in doing this right -- we only have to get through a few more months of this. read more

Earns two stars because the shrimp panang curry was decent but not great. I spent a month in Thailand last year and imho this food is not good compared to the authentic Thai food I had there. Everything I've tried (went there twice to give it a 2nd chance) was overly seasoned/spiced with garlic and fish sauce---and not in a good way. The price point also definitely did not match the quality of the food at all. The pork "spring rolls" were the worst---just a thick lump of garlicky meat inside a deep fried egg roll wrapper. Hands down, best Thai in town! I love that they have vegan options--including their Thai iced tea. I will never recommend or eat here again. The wait staff was incompetent and the management was confrontational. I told the manager that I would not continue a conversation that was getting hostile in front of my daughter and he told me to "step outside" four different times he ignored my request to stop talking. The sad part was that the female owner was in the back of the restaurant, knowing what was going on, and never once came out to stop her employee. I was given the excuse that she didn't speak English. Haha, she spoke it fine when she was away the soup/ salad bar. Ive heard of the bad things that have happened here before but didn't realize the depth. I cannot wait for their doors to close. Went here for take out. Restaurant was open and looked like a nicer Panda Express. The fried veggie rolls were great, just wish there was more than 3 of them in an order. We also got the drunken noodles which we ordered 4 out of 5 on the spice level and it didn't seem that spicy and not that flavorful either. Also had the Panang curry with chicken which was ok... nothing special. It came in a plastic container which we can use again but I'm not a fan of them using plastic like that. Something more eco friendly to throw away after someone is done with their meal. Overall, I'm not sure I would come here again. read more

Wife ordered the Pad Thai which she described as delicious and a repeat. This is easily the best thai food in Bozeman. I regularly order through Cafe Courier. While it is pricey compared to other delivery Asian food in town, the serving sizes easily make up for the price. I love that there is some diversity in food in Montana, I just wish Thai Basil was more consistent. I wanted to give it some time before making a review. I have eaten there now about 5 times. Of the 5 times, 3 were really good....and 2 were fair to poor. If we were simply grading this it would be a C-. Maybe good for Bozeman? Good example, last order we got our meals with basically no sauce...pretty dry. Our orders were not sitting around so it wasn't a timing issue. Our orange chicken had no, i repeat, no sauce. Our pad thai had little to no peanut sauce. I loved the spices the 3 times it was good to exceptional. I guess its just a hit and miss. I wish it would hit on all cylinders as my orders are never cheap and I hate feeling like I wasted my money. I love supporting the local food scene, this place just needs to step it up. read more

Very disappointing. The Pho was not authentic at all. The vegan member of our party wanted vegetables, but the amount of vegetables they put on the noodles was a disgrace.
