This is absolutely the worst. I wish there is 0 star option. Our food took 40 minutes to serve. And we found the drunken noodles were cold and dry, papaya salad not fresh. Our server explained that those food are sitting over there waiting for the soup to be ready and refused to do anything about it. We had pad Thai and curry, and it was honestly the best curry I've ever had. The service was quick and our waitress was awesome about telling us spice and heat levels and comparing them to other foods we might be more familiar with so we could better choose how spicy we wanted our dishes. I was really excited to try Thai Basil, but honestly it was not worth it. I ordered Drunken Noodles with tofu ($16!!) and a Thai Iced Tea ($4) to go. $20 plus a tip is SO expensive. The Drunken Noodles with tofu was not great. I asked for a 4 on the spice level and it was not spicy at all. The vegetables were very undercooked-almost as though they were added as an afterthought. There was barely any tofu or vegetables. It was mostly just rice noodles - for $16. The noodles were swimming in oil too. The Thai iced tea tasted good. Thai basil charges too much to skimp you on veggie portions. Veggies are life, don't skimp your customers and give them all noodles to save money or so cooks can save time. Thai basil has always been my favorite restaurant to order from specifically the Thai fried Fried rice. I always order delivery or take out because I get it at work. This time my rice was white in places and extremely chunky and cold. I could not do anything because I had it delievered at work. Ordered through uberEats. Took about 30minutes which is good. First impression- One of the dishes was upside down and the other leaking, they also didn't send napkins nor plastic spoons/forks. The Pad Nam Prip Praw with beef was good, Pad See Ew with pork was meh, Vegetable spring rolls was good too. Best Thai food in Bozeman. I have only visited the restaurant once but ate at their food truck more times than I can count. I do think the food was higher quality when they were running a smaller operation out of the food truck at Outlaw, and their prices are still a little high in my opinion. Great pad Thai, and pineapple fried rice. Love that they have lunch deals too. Everything I've tried so flavorful and they aren't joking around with their 1-5 spice levels... order a 1 and ask for more heat later if you're sensitive to it. Wish they offered pad see ew. They have a ways to go as far as speed of service and consistency, but I have high hopes as this is my favorite Thai in town and I'd much rather give them my money than their competitors. read more

Just traveling through this city and stopped at Thai Basil for dinner. The chicken pad Thai was very yummy. I also ordered a Thai tea. It came with more of the half and half than the tea. Great Thai option and good service! Takeout has been great recently. Pretty authentic flavors (I lived in Thailand for 4 years).

Not your restaurant chain food for sure. I was visiting Bozeman and my host suggested this place, the waiter said they've been open a month (visited 4/23/18). Walk through the main doors and choose right for carry out or left for sit down - clean, neat, modern seating area - not warm, just neat and an in order. I had the cashew chicken (you order the item then they ask 'What portion would you like with that? - tofu, chicken, etc - I chose chicken). I realize cashew chicken is standard fare for Thai restaurants, but it is a good choice to test the waters - I was asked on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being hottest, how warm I wanted it. I choose 4, which was warm but not hot as it turned out. The spice came not from whole peppers cooked with the ingredients, as I anticipated having to pick them out, but rather the sauce used, which was a nice change of pace from the usual. The lunch portion was perfect, not huge like say, Pei Wei's portions (which is PF Chang's bistro chain), but actually quite filling. The jasmine rice was perfect for mixing in the sauce and ingredients, all of which were perfectly proportioned meat/veggies/sauce/rice. As my host said, "This is good, I'd bring my wife to this place!" Ditto. Not in any way romantic with ambiance, just a good, clean corner location offering take out or sit down - I'll ask to return when I visit Bozeman again! read more

This is usually our #1 takeout spot, they serve solid Thai food and efficient service. However, when I went to pick up an order recently, I was disturbed by the lack of precautions taken by their staff to protect themselves and customers from the COVID-19 pandemic. There were plexiglass shields in front of the registers, but none of the cooks, waitstaff, cashiers or customers were wearing masks. Wonderful atmosphere, nice staff, excellent food. They offer 0-5 spice levels. 3 is "warm" so if you like spice, definitely go 4-5. Our party had Chicken Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and Spicy Basil Fried Rice (which isn't spicy at all if ordered at a 1). All were very good. Menu runs on the expensive side making this a place we'll visit as a treat instead of being regulars. I will gladly recommend this place to even non-Thai food lovers, as the menu is robust enough for even picky eaters. Suggestions to the owners: give knives for those of us who don't use chopsticks or spin noodles on our forks; put soy sauce, salt, and pepper on the tables, and offer lime slices with more of the dishes. read more

Please, please, please bring the adjustable spice levels back. I've been a committed Panang curry fan since Thai Basil opened, but the recent change to disallow adjustable spice levels has left me incapable of finishing my meal. Most recently, I added half a can of coconut milk to my curry just to bring it down to an acceptable level of heat. This was not the case when the heat levels were adjustable as per the customer's choice. I love Thai Basil-but some of the food is just too hot to handle. read more

Very disappointed with how hit & miss the food is here. Service is always friendly and great. But the food can look & taste totally different on different visits. Our last meal there looked like it was pulled off of a buffet - that dried out look, not very hot and the plates even looked gross, with the way the food was placed on them. Yelp brought us here and I'm glad that it did. After a crazy long drive, few runs of skiing, and blah feelings of the day we decided to grab some dinner. Neither one of us really was feeling anything special and honestly I was leaning towards some fast food and calling it a night. I'm super glad we didn't. I searched for surrounding restaurants close to our hotel and came across Thai Basil. I looked up their menu online and was immediately excited to see that they had specific notations for vegetarian and vegans. They understood that many vegetarians do not eat fish or oyster sauce. I loved this. My husband and I noticed that the portion sizes were substantial by looking at the tables around us. This prompted us to share an appetizer and an entree. We started with the veggie fried spring rolls. These were pretty lackluster and a little oily. The rolls themselves were slightly tasteless and needed the sauce to carry the flavor. The drunken noodles w/ tofu (vegan style) stole the show. They have a spice scale that seems true to their numbers. We ordered them at a "3" and they were perfect. Not too spicy and not bland at all. The flavors were all there. The only downside was the excess oil in the dish. I'm not sure if it was oil from stir frying the noodles or if it was an excess of oil from the sauces that they use. In any case, the meal was delicious and I would go again when in Bozeman again. read more
