For those per lovers this is NOT a pet friendly restaurant. They told us they were, but the dog needed to be on the other side of the railings, i didnt quite understand, it turns out that the pet has to be basically on the sidewalk. This was not ok, they should simply say it is not Pet friendly. As a pet lover I was not ok having my well behave small dog on the sidewalk outside the patio area. I felt very bad. Food is good, although they dont make any accomodations as far as food substitutions. I wont be coming back. read more

The wait staff is so friendly and welcoming, they answer any questions a guest may have and are nicely attentive. I sat indoor however they have both indoors and outdoors seating. The sushi was original, fresh, and such great combinations of flavors. We got 3 rolls that we couldn't pick a favorite from: the John Wayne, the David Hasselhoff, and the Spawning Dragon. Each roll was so good. We also shared the crab cream cheese wontons. These were a different shape than I've had before - but they were super crispy and loaded with crab meat and cream cheese. I'm always a bit nervous ordering sushi when the ocean is ~ 800 miles away. However, I've been to Dave's now maybe four times over the past year. It's a popular place, judging by their tables almost always being full. There are a lot of choices. One think I really appreciated was how they clearly label, on the menu, what fish is farmed (and where it's from) as well as whether it's line-caught. The rolls have interesting names that don't really describe what's in the roll, but they're memorable and fun to read. For example, you might not know that the David Hasselhoff roll is: Crab, avocado, mango, and tempura fried jalapeño. Topped with hamachi, cilantro aioli, fresh squeezed lime juice, and green onions. There are other rolls, like the Carmen Elektra, and the Jack Sparrow. Regardless of what you order, you'll enjoy it. We ended up having a couple different Nigiri, Masago (a mix of 3 different roe), and four rolls. We started with Christmas Showers, which was interesting. The roe on top was bright red and very spicy hot, with habanero mixed in. After that roll, we had S'happenin', the specialty roll of the night (I don't remember the name), and finished with another Christmas Showers. The rolls are larger than most places I've been. They're all delicious, and the servers are friendly and helpful. If you get overwhelmed with the choices, the servers will happily pick for you. If you can't tell, I will definitely be back next time in Bozeman. read more

Dave's was the first restaurant I hit after moving to Bozeman, and I've loved it since. It's been around forever, and I hope it stays that way... The staff is now overly attentive in detail from the back of the house to the front. The rolls are as good as ever, and their specials have stepped up a notch! We have a go-to maki order, which always starts with a seaweed salad or miso soup (their miso soup is tasty!). We usually try to snag a special or do a chef's choice to switch things up... and every now and then, we'll do an omakese and splurg on the 'best of' which I love doing while sitting up at the sushi bar! For those with allergies or dietary "particuairities": They have tamari (GF), low-so soy sauce and real wasabi - just ask. Be sure to check their website if you're curious for any updates on recent events. Their team is doing a world-class job at communicating as much as possible. The one downside is they do seem to have lost some of their talented rollers and wait staff over time. I got used to seeing them! I love this place. For starters the insides of it are absolutely beautiful with pretty tables and a really nice atmosphere. Their music isn't too loud but still audible. The staff are super nice and take their time with you if you're struggling to pick something. And the FOOD..is so good! If I had to recommend one item on the menu it would be ube mochi. Their rolls are amazing as-well, and I may have a pretty basic choice but their California Rolls are to die for! Nice location in downtown Bozeman. A convenient walk from the Kimpton Armory hotel. This place has a good sized lunch crowd. It was just me so I was seated right away at the sushi bar. The server was friendly and fairly attentive. I ordered the mixed greens salad and the Grave Danger roll. The salad was larger than I expected, but good (you definitely need to cut up this salad otherwise it is somewhat unwieldy when trying to stuff it in your mouth!) . The sesame-ginger dressing they use is very tasty. The Grave Danger roll was good and comes with 10 pieces. The spicy tuna tasted fresh and the roll had a good flavor. Hard to get out of here cheaply, but a good lunch experience. They need a lunch combo. Bozeman had a few sushi options. I decided to call in the order and pick it up to take back to the hotel. Good thing because the place was PACKED - looks like they've even expanded since the last time we were here. I ordered the "Dirty Bird" roll; fried chicken, avocado and cucumber with jalapeño, bourbon-sriracha sauce and green onions. I also ordered a simple smoked salmon roll. The packaging looked simple enough, but the rolls looked a bit smaller than I remembered. An 8-piece and a 10-piece roll fitting in an 8x8" box? Oh well, they were both still very good. The fried chicken pieces were crispy and tasty. Prices are a somewhat reasonable. I figure a good sushi place in the middle of Montana deserves to charge a little more than you'd find in a more populated area. All good. I would come back next time I roll through. read more

Daddy longlegs: the spice level was a bit too overpowering for me to enjoy this roll and better suited for someone with a higher tolerance! Two people have DIED after eating sushi at this restaurant and they've had other violations per news article, "the local health department has uncovered nearly two dozen other violations at the sushi restaurant, including unsafe temperatures in a sample of raw fish and problems with the restaurant's dishwashing machine" I myself never knew about not eating raw morels, and I know man6 others would admit the same, but a RESTAURANT specializing in FOOD should absolutely know what they are serving and how to prepare it appropriately!
