Honestly I was impressed with this sushi spot! I didn't have much expectations considering it's a mountain town but wow this spot is added to my list of favorite sushi spots. We ordered two different roles and were happy with how big they were. The pricing is also great for what you get.

I love Dave's. I've been here many times. I like to take friends and family here so they can experience the yummy goodness available. Many different options, you really can't go wrong!

We haven't been to Dave's in a while. I was not disappointed in the two specials I got tonight. They have a nice, somewhat small, local brews on tap. Always nice to see local breweries highlighted here. I got the Sashimi special and the Roll special along with edamame. Take a look at the photo for details on the two specials I got. Some of the best I've had... ever! So flavorful and the presentation was fantastic also. The wait staff is so friendly and welcoming, they answer any questions a guest may have and are nicely attentive. I sat indoor however they have both indoors and outdoors seating. The inside seating is active, lots of customers and staff. It is a bit on the noisy side. Like I said, the two entries I got were excellent!

It was really good I finished my plate three different rolls

Food always good For Service I want to thank thank thank Matthew you are awesome please don't loose your smile Ambience ??? ? Of course Excellent I don't know who the boss or owner is, but if you're going to hire someone, the staff hire should be like him!!! ( Matthew you are excellent) Hire someone who is friendly, polite, kind, understanding, helpful when talking to customers, and not racist.

I know about Dave's reputation and yet still keep coming back because they're consistent and have great sushi! Big menu, fun atmosphere (a little loud if sensitive to that), and quick service.

All the food was delish. We also had calamari as an appetizer. The service was great too!

I love this place. For starters the insides of it are absolutely beautiful with pretty tables and a really nice atmosphere. Their music isn't too loud but still audible. The staff are super nice and take their time with you if you're struggling to pick something. And the FOOD..is so good! If I had to recommend one item on the menu it would be ube mochi. Their rolls are amazing as-well, and I may have a pretty basic choice but their California Rolls are to die for! Over all, it's a great restaurant and I'd definitely recommend it for anyone who is in Bozeman!

Nice location in downtown Bozeman. A convenient walk from the Kimpton Armory hotel. This place has a good sized lunch crowd. It was just me so I was seated right away at the sushi bar. The server was friendly and fairly attentive. I ordered the mixed greens salad and the Grave Danger roll. The salad was larger than I expected, but good (you definitely need to cut up this salad otherwise it is somewhat unwieldy when trying to stuff it in your mouth!) . The sesame-ginger dressing they use is very tasty. The Grave Danger roll was good and comes with 10 pieces. The spicy tuna tasted fresh and the roll had a good flavor. Hard to get out of here cheaply, but a good lunch experience. They need a lunch combo. Bozeman had a few sushi options. This one appears to be the only one that is consistently open for lunch.

Smoked salmon roll (left) and "Dirty Bird" roll in to-go box.

Staying in Bozeman overnight and saw the billboard for Dave's Sushi and remembered we had been there before. I was excited to go back. I decided to call in the order and pick it up to take back to the hotel. Good thing because the place was PACKED - looks like they've even expanded since the last time we were here. I ordered the "Dirty Bird" roll; fried chicken, avocado and cucumber with jalapeño, bourbon-sriracha sauce and green onions. I also ordered a simple smoked salmon roll. The packaging looked simple enough, but the rolls looked a bit smaller than I remembered. An 8-piece and a 10-piece roll fitting in an 8x8" box? Oh well, they were both still very good. The fried chicken pieces were crispy and tasty. Prices are a somewhat reasonable. I figure a good sushi place in the middle of Montana deserves to charge a little more than you'd find in a more populated area. All good. I would come back next time I roll through.

We didn't realize Zocalo gets converted to the Japanese restaurant as well. Genius! We did t have a reservation but got seated right away. We didn't know we would be visiting the same place twice but so impressed by two different worlds being amazing on quality and execution on everything. I loved the ambience and the atmosphere my family even decided to get a reservation. When i pronounced I had a shellfish allergy I was told that everything had been cross contaminated and I couldn't eat there. I almost had to leave my family and uber home since the majority of my family can eat shellfish. I am a cook but I am no sushi chef I have done sushi while private cheffing. I do believe that there are certain steps you can take to prevent cross contamination and being able to store things properly in order to prevent contamination. I understand that when at sushi restaurants there's no helping fryers which is completely understandable. There is also a point I'd like to make how there should be some kind of sign outside or when making a reservation to pronounce on their end that they can't accommodate. At the end of the day I'm disappointed, I almost chose to leave my family, and we all ended up walking out without ordering since they can't accommodate to my allergy. I hope they take steps in the future to prevent cross contamination or pronounce they cannot accommodate to certain allergies before making a reservation.

The kitchen staff was engaged and helpful (Paul, Maddi, and Trevor were amazing, but also shout out to the rest of the kitchen), and the food was out of this world. Paul obviously cares deeply about his craft and made sure we knew what we were eating and where on the fish it came from, and it was really cool to watch him work right in front of us (especially given the fact that the sushi was out-of-this-world). Trevor was super fun and kept everyone engaged through the whole night while also making sure we were supplied on anything we needed - not to mention he is an impressive force in the kitchen and everything they brought out was great. Maddi was also incredible and made the best mocktails I've ever had (and it's not even close) - each of them was innovative and delicious. The food itself was amazing and there wasn't a single course that I disliked. It's near impossible to pick a favorite because they all felt like stand-outs. I am traveling for the summer so I booked a solo reservation and they treated me like family and made sure that I was never bored or left out. Montana is a beautiful place with lots to do and still Izakaya's omakase experience is near the top of my list. If you are on the fence about this experience: make the reservation, it's worth it!

The food and drinks were excellent, but the highlight of the night was Trent. We were looking for recommendations on things to do in the area, and Trent absolutely delivered. Scenic drives, sightseeing spots, Yellowstone stops, local attractions--you name it, he had a recommendation for it. The suggestions were coming faster than we could write them down, and every time we thought he was done, he'd remember three more places we needed to see. His food and cocktail recommendations were spot on, and he was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. As an added bonus, his voice carries exceptionally well, so hearing all of those recommendations was never an issue, even on a busy Friday night. Copper is a great spot, but Trent is what made the experience memorable. If you find yourself sitting at his bar, settle in--you'll leave with a great meal, a great drink, and a much longer list of places to visit than you arrived with.

Food and service was pretty average - we like to order an adult beverage before dinner and peruse the menu. We were told the bar was backed up so we should get our food order in. So, not a take-your-time kinda place. Not rude, but not chill. Shared a 1/2 portion wedge salad @ $12 - perfect for two and tasty. Main entrees were a bit disappointing: 8 oz Tenderloin Filet @ $54 was cooked a bit more than requested and it came with (2) baked potatoes which we've never seen before (+ $4 upcharge). The Pan Seared Trout @ $34 was prepared nicely but there is not any flavor; served w/ a Blackberry BBQ but very sparingly. Super bland. Would come back to visit the bar - would consider ordering a burger, but wouldn't return for the main entrees.

It's okay for being the only easily accesible poke shop in town…read more I mean, we keep coming back so it's obviously not terrible but it's also extremely inconsistent. I actually held off on writing this review until our after our fourth visit to make a fair judgement. Yo Poke is a good option if you're looking for a quick and easy meal. The quality of the fish is on the mid-level of good and the ingredients are typically fresh. As for the store itself, it's kept very clean and there are a several tables and chairs if you choose to sit and eat. We've visited on a few occasions now and the staff has been friendly every single time. The biggest problem lies in consistency. On two out of four visits, we received poke bowls that were so sad looking with 6 or 7 little cubes of fish. On the other two visits, we were served a portion that looks like most other restaurants offer. (I've been BYO poke restaurants in several states). At this point, we watch the person building our bowls getting a tiny half scoop of protein, usually fish, or a full one. It's very interesting to me how the servings can come out so different even though they literally use the same scooper...just fill that tiny little thing up and let's call it a day. To be honest, a full scoop versus a half scoop usually determines a generous tip or a "this is just to be nice" one. The food itself is usually pretty tasty, no complaints on that front. Here is one of my favorite BYO combos: + Sushi Rice + Proteins: Tuna & Salmon + Mix-ins: White & Green Onions. + Sauces: Shoyu & Wasabi Mayo. + Sides: Edamame, Surimi Salad, Ginger & Avocado + Toppings: Sesame Oil, Tempura Flakes & Furikake If you try it, let me know what you think! Oh, one more thing! Don't try to order from GrubHub. I've tried to order delivery 3 times and my order was delayed by more than 2 hours every single time before it got canceled!

The look is nothing special, but it does seem to be appropriate for this kind of restaurant. The food was remarkably medium. I would have liked to see some suggested poke bowls on the menu rather than leaving my bowl to my suggestions. The fish seemed pretty fresh, and the vegetables were crisp. While it wasn't bad, it didn't seem to rise to "good" either. I also had the miso soup, which was lukewarm and came from a machine (it looked like the hot chocolate machines that were once ubiquitous). It had no particular taste and featured lumps of tofu and a garnish of wakame. The soup wasn't even medium, and having it served in disposable bowls with plastic spoons made it less apealing. At $26, this meal wasn't worth it. Of course, the management has the payment device throwing on tip options so that you can tip a staff that looks inconvenienced by your presence and well before you taste the food (sorry, this is stupid tipping). This place needs some quality control on the food, better ideas for bowls, and a little bit of joy from the employees. An expensive downer.
