She ordered Basil fried rice with veggie rolls and Tom-Yum soup . They served us water first and asked gave us menu. Good service and very polite. The place was clean and comfortable but small. Very disappointing! We ordered Crab Dumplings. There were 7 small dumplings, but we couldn't find much crab meat or crab flavor in it. The crispy calamari appetizer was accompanied by a very sweet, sugary sauce. I'd give it a 2. The green Papaya salad was really disappointing, very bland and boring taste. I liked this restaurant. My friend and I came here last night and had a nice time. It was really quiet and there wasn't a lot of people there. That's always a plus for me. The food was good, I got the Chicken Pad Thai and it was yummy. My friend got the sirachi chicken which came white rice and that was also good. The chicken tasted fresh and the flavors were right on point. We were happy to see that the happy hour menu seems to last all day so I had to take part in that and ordered 2 beers that of course enjoyed throughly lol. Did anyone say happy hour? Because that's the only reason my girlfriend and I first stepped into this cute little Thai spot on Bell Blvd. $3 beers, $4 wines, and $5 cocktails~! We really enjoyed their apple martinis. Also ordered a few appetizers, since we were feeling a bit peckish. Curry Puffs, Crispy Spring Rolls, and Chicken Satay - all pretty good but portions were small. I have ordered delivery countless time from here through Seamless since. So quick and convenient! Always arrives at my doorstep in less than 20 minutes without fail. All their curries are a bit thin, but nonetheless delicious and spicy. (I especially recommend their red curry.) The $7 lunch specials come with a side of white rice and a choice of a starter, and are large enough for two meals. Stumbled across Thai 101 last night, lucky me! Originally planned on going somewhere else on Bell, but my girlfriend noticed the "Happy Hour until 9:30" sign, and there was no discussion that plans had officially changed. It was pretty empty, plenty tables open at around 7:30pm on a Tuesday night. Our waiter, though he didn't speak much English, was extremely helpful and pleasant. He made food suggestions and of course suggested a happy hour drink. ($5 cocktails, $4 wine and I believe $3 beer but don't quote me on that). The food was affordable also. We ordered the firecracker shrimp, which wasn't bad but not what I expected. It was shrimp wrapped in fried wonton and drizzled with spicy mayo. Fine little Thai restaurant in Bayside. Started with curry puffs which were light but bursted with flavor. The roti canai was served with rather small pieces of roti but the peanut sauce on the side was fantastic with a great kick. Penang curry was not as thick of a sauce as I'm accustomed to but the flavors and heat were right on the mark. Pineapple curry, though flavorful, was a tad on the sweet side. Truth be told, I don't know if this is authentically Thai ... but that being said the food tastes good. This place is perfect if you have picky eaters or people that don't really like spices. Generally speaking the food on the menu that is listed at spiced isn't spiced whatsoever. It's flavorful but not spicy in the least. I've gotten pineapple curry and Panang curry. They have lunch specials, happy hour specials and the best Thai Iced Tea and Lychee Iced Tea. This Thai restaurant just opened last saturday and friend and I went for lunch today. The food was authentic thai and very tasty and affordable. the lunch entree comes with a starter of your choice. The choices are not limited to the typical soup or salad...you can also choose golden fritters or crispy rolls. This is definitely one of the better Thai restaurants in Queens. It's tasty and the portions of the entrees are HUGE so you will definitely leave with a full stomach. Appetizers I got were: -Roti Chanai: Malaysian "pancakes" with a peanut-based curry sauce. It didn't really taste that great, and the portion is sooo small so I don't really recommend this. -Firecracker shrimp: I definitely preferred this over the roti chanai. It's super crispy and super flavorful- highly recommend if you love shrimp. Entrees I got were: -Chicken Pad Thai: You really can't go wrong with pad thai, and the one at this restaurant is very flavorful. It does look a little different compared to what you will get at other Thai restaurants because there's a lot more sauce in this one. Definitely one of the best pad thai I've ever had. -Green Curry Fried Rice: Spicy! At the first bite, the combination of the different flavors was a little strange, but then you really start to taste the curry and it is spicy! I do recommend this if you want to try something new. The service here is also really good - my waitress was super polite and she was always making sure that our water was refilled. I've passed by this restaurant so many times but never went inside. I was in the mood for some pineapple fried rice and Thai iced so my BF and I went in for dinner. It was pretty empty with only two other tables occupied. They had happy hour going with some drink specials. We shared the soft shell crab special in garlic sauce, pineapple fried rice, and roti. The roti the wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it would be puffy and thin and large. But this was cut into triangles and a bit thick. Reminded me of little pizza slices which were dipped into the curry sauce. The Thai iced tea was pretty good though. The soft shell crab special came with some salad and rice. The waiter recommended it with some curry sauce but I didn't want anything too spicy. The garlic sauce was good and it didn't taste soggy. The crab was crispy and came with quite a few pieces. The pineapple fried rice was lacking in pineapple and seasoning. Even though it was such a large portion ( enough for leftovers) it was quite bland. I've been to the actual restaurant once for lunch, but my review is based on ordering for delivery. I placed my order at 12:16, I got a call at 12:43 that my food was here! I live about 5 minutes away from bell, so this may not be as accurate if you live farther. My food arrived warm, spring rolls were crunch and my Thai iced tea was cold and not watered down from the ice! I got the Pad Thai lunch special with chicken which also comes with a side, I chose the spring rolls. They were a generous portion for a side order, two of them that were pretty big and crunchy! As for the Pad Thai, I'm a fan of sweeter Pad Thai's, this one was a little more on the savory side. There could've been more chicken as well. Overall, it was good but could've been better. Thai 101 was great! Just came back from a great little dinner with the girlfriend. Fantastic Pad Thai, just missing a bit of that Lime tang, but still very flavorful. Thai Iced Tea was spot on, and served in a cool little jar like glass. And the curry puff appetizer was delectable! BUT... bit BUT here.. 3 curry puffs for $6? C'mon Thai 101... if you see 2 people are going to share the appetizer at least just throw in 1 extra puff... Damn... those puffs are so damn good.. I could just eat a plate full of them quite honestly.. hahaha. Anyway -- The pricing isn't too bad, especially when you compare Thai 101 to 2 other local competitors on Bell Blvd, Erawan (which used to be my overpriced fave), and Bonne Saison (which is pretty much up there with Erawan for me). I'll definitely check out Thai 101 again, as they're definitely more wallet friendly, and the food seems to be spot on. Watch out for an update... ;) read more

However, the picture obviously shows six pieces and no where in the menu says you only get three pieces. Their pad Thai is mediocre; the shrimp was way over cooked. I really wanted to like this place but I've had better Thai food at other restaurants. Their grilled porkchops over veggies were pretty good. But as for the roti canai and the papaya salad.. They need a bit of work. The porkchops were grilled perfectly, and the bed of veggies under it were boiled just right. It wasn't too salty and it came with a nice fish sauce on the side to dip the porkchops in. As for the roti canai, I was expecting a fluffy, soft roti but these were flat, cut into triangles and pretty hard. The curry dip that comes with it didn't have much spice but just tasted like peanuts. The papaya salad was alright. Everything was a bit mushy. And their Thai iced tea tastes like just milk, I've had better. The workers were nice, it was pretty busy so they took a while to hand out the waters and the menus. But once the food came out, they did come check to see how we were doing often. read more

I decided to stop in here for lunch while I was out in the neighborhood. Since the lunch menu was offered with reduced pricing we decided to try three different dishes. I found all three dishes flavored very nicely, not too spicy and they all came with a choice of appetizer so we got to try a couple of other things as well. My only complaint about this place was they do not offer free refills on your soda which in my opinion has become the norm in most restaurants. I'm giving this for stars in the five for a couple of reasons. First of all the menu was a typical hi menu with nothing out of the ordinary or different. The second reason is because I felt the service was a bit lacking as throughout the entire meal we were not asked if everything was OK or if we needed any refills on our drinks. read more

I was really disappointed by Thai 101. Their food descriptions are truly not reflective of the food that they serve. Case in point... I ordered Siracha chicken, and my girlfriend ordered some kind of rice noodle chicken dish. My chicken came breaded and fried, hers came grilled - the way that I wanted. But there was nothing on the menu that described how the chicken would be prepared. It really wasn't Siracha chicken, either - which to me implied chicken with Siracha sauce.
