This place is conveniently located on Bell Blvd and has a really nice, cozy vibe with good Thai food so I come here whenever I have a Thai food craving. I'm such a big fan of this tiny Thai restaurant in Bell boulevard. It's become my go-to spot for a few reasons. The food is honestly very delicious. I always get drunken noodles everywhere I go, and these are one of the best I've found in the area. I used to go to a place in Jackson Heights, extremely authentic, and after going back to visit there again, I found Thai 101 actually had better food. No reason for the travel there anymore. Have also tried a few apps, including calamari, thai 101 dumplings, and crab dumplings. They are all so tasty, with amazing flavor especially in the dipping sauces. SO delicious, I just went tonight and I'm craving again. The prices are also very fair. They also have lunch specials and happy hour drink specials (I don't remember the exact happy hour times, but they sometimes I believe fall at dinner time, which is amazing). Very cute ambiance inside, as well. A small, narrow storefront, but very nice decor. There's seating in the front and in the back past the bar. I always sit in the back away from the door, and they always have seating. The staff is extremely kind and attentive; my water glass was ALWAYS full, which is perfect especially when ordering spicy dishes. Great tasting Thai food that is light on your wallet while delivering delicious Thai flavors in the Bayside area. The lunch specials are $7 with your choice of an appetizer, definitely a winning combination. For appetizers you can choose between the Golden fritter or crispy rolls, the perfect sized bite to complement the lunch. The golden fritters are filled with minced shrimp and fried up golden brown and packed with flavor. The crispy rolls were nice and crunchy and stuffed with a vegetable filling. Also get yourself a Thai Ice tea, I did, cold and refreshing! Now for the $7 lunch special we ordered the basil beef noodle, the noodles were perfectly cooked and the basil was infused nicely throughout the dish, not too basil overpowering with the hint of basil in the background. The Bangkok chicken was delicious stir fried with veggies and bamboo shoots. I liked the way they shaped the rice into what resembled a traditional Thai headdress. It made me dance around the rice with my fork but after a few dance moves with the fork, it was time to chow down! Service was on point and I would like to return to try the dinner menu. Now don't be fooled by the name of the restaurant. It may be called "Thai 101" but this is not an introductory restaurant in Thai cuisine, they already have passed all the prerequisites and graduated! read more

i LOVE this place. everything is so delicious and the portions are good. the only complaint i have (that still wouldn't stop me from ordering, i just default to anything that isn't curry...) is that there's super sharp pieces of what i *think* is lemongrass in some of the dishes. i'm completely thai cooking ignorant, and i'm sure this is a required ingredient in curry, but the small pieces are lethal. one time i bit into one that was like an inch long and it it went straight up into my gums so far. it was so painful... if i swallowed that, i could have really hurt my esophagus or i could have choked... i dunno, maybe cook with bigger pieces or make sure it's fully soft? it happens so often and i end up picking through my food for 5 straight mins with my fingers, to see which pieces are hard/sharp vs soft. it's honestly just annoying. i just want to eat not pick out razor sharp pieces of plant life. Food is good . Nothing spectacular. Lunch specials: for the price u pay, you get a decent amount of food . For me, its a lot of food. Enough for 2 meals . Curry is yummy and spicy enough where it satisfies my taste buds and makes my stomach angry a few hours later. Lol. Tom yum soup is more on the salty than spicy and sour side. The shrimp def is very tough..... try it, you'll see what I mean. As far as noodle dishes goes, pad thai is a favorite in my household. We ordered the Thai ice coffee and lychee ice tea, these tasted unique compared to the usual ones found in flushing restaurants. For appetizers, we tried the crispy calamari and roti coni, I enjoyed my calamari a lot more than the roti, whose dipping sauce was a lot thicker than what I was use to. The sauce only had potatoes and no chicken. For entrees, we had the beef pineapple curry and the sriracha chicken which were delicious! I asked for mild curry and they made it perfectly mild. The only thing I didn't like was how the rice was on a little plate and not a bowl. It was a bit hard to chow down bc I had to be so careful not to spill my rice. It has a small front, but don't let that deceive you on how much space is inside. It's actually a decent size. We took up the back space with a huge tv screen playing the Patriots vs Broncos. Good game by the way. Some of the dishes I recommend are: Curry puffs - grounded chicken with onions, potatoes, herbs and spices. Really enjoyed the spices and the meat. So yummy. And the puff is flaky but soft on the inside. Only comes in threes so make sure you order a few more. Fried calamari - yummm, don't make the mistake of not offering this appetizer. Tender, fried, and paired with a sweet dipping sauce. Pad thai - pretty on point, I ate more of this dish than my drunken noodles. Depending on the time and day, parking is somewhat difficult. I moved a few blocks away and they won't deliver to me now, saying I'm outside their delivery zone. It was a cheap Italian style salad, with tasteless pink tomatoes, some wilted leaves and the peanut dressing tasted like Thousand Island with peanut flavor. Pathetic. Ginger Noodles was more like a bland Chinese noodle dish with overcooked, tasteless veggies. Hint of ginger but bland in taste and appearance. Massaman Curry with tofu used the wrong tofu and was bland, though not as bad as other dishes, and mostly onions. Lemon Grass Chicken was very bland and the veggies were overcooked. I've given this place a chance several times because the first couple of times I've ordered, their food was great -- especially the Thai dumplings. However, the last few times that I've ordered from here, the food has been quite bland and just did not meet my expectations. I usually get their Drunken noodles (pad kee mow) with chicken and lately, the chicken has been so bland and you can tell that just by looking at it. I will say, though, that their Thai iced tea is phenomenal and has the right amount of sweetness to it! Came here last night for dinner. They have such a cute setup outside with tables and chairs. We sat inside because it was a little chilly. We had the dumplings for appetizers which were delicious. The Chang beer is really good, it's light and refreshing. I had the basil noodle for my entree and I asked for medium spicy. Well let me tell you..medium is spicy! Oh my goodness. I want to try this place many times that I pass by Bell Blvd to go to work. Even though it didn't tasted good as I expected, it is not bad. I think this place is little too Americanize. However The thing that I like the most is Mongo with Sticky rice, it tasted great! The stuffs is ok but compared to other Thai restaurants is still need to improved. They did not smile that much. They just take the order and leave then just put the bill on table when you called them to check. Walked in with my girlfriend for lunch special. They have $15 lunch special that includes 1 entrees, 1soup and 1 order of rolls or house salad. The girl walked up to us and asked us where would we like to sit. We were seated and ordered right away. I ordered Ginger dish with veggie rolls and Tom-yum soup. She ordered Basil fried rice with veggie rolls and Tom-Yum soup . They served us water first and asked gave us menu. Good service and very polite. The place was clean and comfortable but small. The crispy calamari appetizer was accompanied by a very sweet, sugary sauce. I'd give it a 2. The green Papaya salad was really disappointing, very bland and boring taste.
