They sat us down immediately and handed us some menus. The menu was very big. We were surprised that they had lunch specials on a Sunday. My daughter and I got the lunch specials on while my husband got the massaman beef curry. He enjoyed it. My daughter got the pad see ew with chicken. As an appetizer she got the golden fritters. I got the labna with squid. I got tom yum soup as my appetizer. My daughter liked her pad see ew but thought the golden fritters tasted frozen. I also liked my labna and the squid was very tender. I typically use Grubhub which prevents me from ordering from my favorite Thai restaurant in Auburndale. I have ordered from 101 several times in the past, but I think I will pass in the future. This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Queens . My favorite dish is the Basil Eggplant . You can order the dish with or without meat . It's in a garlic sauce and it's spicy though to you order it any way you want . Comes with white rice . I also love the Tom Yum Soup it's a lemongrass base if you're not familiar and I usually get Shrimp . I also would recommend the Ginger Palate with chicken it's a fresh ginger dish with a variety of vegetables . The chicken wings are Thai style meaning they are spicy in like a sweet and sour sauce ( maybe ?) The delivery quick and my order has always been accurate . Haven't been in the restaurant as I don't live near Bayside . There's a minimum delivery fee of $15 I believe. Not sure what the fuss is about. We had a meal that barely resembled Thai food. The pad thai was sickenly sweet with no balance of flavors that are endemic to Thai food. The massaman curry contained peanuts, but no peanutty taste and was very bland. The penang curry did have hints of indian spices, but was hardly spicy. Should be considered "Thai lite." The food here is authentically Thai. Everything we've ordered there is amazing. Fried tofu, chicken skewers, fried shrimp wrapped in wonton, and roti with curry were just the starters. My family and I came here on a Saturday night and were seated immediately! It was pretty empty when we went, so service was fast and the waitstaff was friendly. It was quiet to talk too, but food was pretty average. I'd say they definitely are stronger in their curry dishes compared to everything else. We ordered: 1. Appetizer 1: Roti Canai - smaller than expected; it seemed like they were from a frozen bag, to be honest. BUT the peanut curry sauce that came with it was tasty, more heavy on the curry flavor than peanut butter, but we enjoyed it! 2. Appetizer 2: Chicken Satay - also smaller than expected with just 4 mini skewers. However, the chicken was juicy and yummy, and came with the same peanut curry sauce. Both appetizers were $8. 3. Entree 1: Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodles) with chicken - This was my favorite dish; the flat noodles were soft and chewy and flavorful. It had a great kick to it, so beware of spice! The chicken was a bit dry, but we ate it with our leftover peanut curry sauce and it was good. 4. Entree 2: Panang Curry with pork - The curry had super strong lemongrass flavor and coconut, but I like lemongrass so it was great to me. There was also a good mix of vegetables to meat, though the pork was too chewy for me. 5. Entree 3: Sweet and Sour Fish - you get to choose whether you want red snapper, tilapia, or salmon; we chose red snapper. The fish was super crispy and tender. However, this fish was a bit of a letdown because the toppings were too chunky and didn't exactly match the flavor of the sauce. The Thai food was pretty good. I decided to try this new delivery spot as I wasn't impressed with the other Thai restaurants (or more like Asian fusion restaurants) near me. I also liked that their name had 101 in it. Felt it went well with my username (hehehee). Any who, I ordered vegetable Pad Thai and vegetable Pad Kee Mao (otherwise commonly known as drunken noodles) to have some variety. I really enjoyed the Pad Kee Mao. The flat rice noodles were definitely fresh. I also liked that it reheated well the next day (they give very generous portions) as flat rice noodles are typically only soft when it's cooked the day of. The Pad Thai was ok, although I did experience better versions elsewhere. Like the drunken noodles, they also gave generous portions too. I definitely appreciated they gave such large portions for both dishes especially the drunken noodles. Normally, I experience 80% vegetable and 20% rice noodle. However, this was the reverse situation. Pricewise, this place is comparable to other Thai restaurants I tried but as I said before their portions were generous, so you are getting your money's worth. Delivery was quick too. After trying other thai places around the Bayside area, our family agreed that Thai 101 surpasses all of them. We ordered/paid over the phone and our 4 dishes + 2 drinks were ready in 1/2 hour. They listened to our various requests like less oil and ice and other substitutions. My mom only enjoys pad thai when it meets her standards but after looking through the pics, she decided to give it a try. It was pretty good and she said she'd get it again from this place. I loved the texture of the noodle and the savory flavor that accompanied it. The pad see ew (we got it with american broccoli) had a perfect blend of savory and slightly sweet flavor and they gave a good portion of chicken. The chicken in general was a little dry but it didn't affect the dish that much. The papaya salad (w/o tomatoes) was lacking a little in variety but it was a refreshing break from the other hot dishes. It doesn't look like it but it's pretty spicy with the jalapenos in it. The thai iced teas were a bit sweeter than I would've liked but my brother didn't mind it. Overall 10/10 and definitely satisfied my thai craving. read more

My husband's Thai but we live in a part of Queens where it's hard for us to find authentic Thai restaurants. We've tried a few but we're usually disappointed and this is sort of the case with Thai 101. I realize because they're in Bayside, they need to cater to the taste buds of non-Thai people but I think nowadays, more than ever, people have been exposed to authentic cultural foods so, they would know if something didn't taste like real Thai, am I right? We ordered the following: Fried Fish Cakes (Tod Mun - $7.00) and this, I think was pretty good, tasted handmade and the sweet peanut-y sauce that came with it was delicious. Papaya Salad (Som Tum $10.00) this was by far the most disappointing dish. Papaya was sliced a little thick so, the already thin/watery sauce didn't have time to get into the salad. Dressing was a bit bland (we asked for Thai-spicy and it was a little peppery), no real kick or punch to the dressing. We barely touched this. Shrimp Pad Thai ($12.95+) had a good amount of noodles, shrimp and vegetables. The noodle color was a deep orange (we hate pale colored noodles) and had a sweet, tangy flavor. Pineapple Fried Rice (w/ Chicken $12.95) tasted better than it looked. Had cashews, pineapple, a lot of chicken but not much other vegetables - I think I found 2 tomatoes?) but it did have that classic Thai pineapple fried rice flavor to it : sweet and savory. Moo Prik King (Pork - $12.95+) this tasted okay. I tasted the ginger, curry base and spice but again, it was missing that kick that I usually look for in Thai food. I don't think we'll be ordering from here again. We gave it a try and we weren't impressed or even happy with the food. Maybe dining in is a better experience but with Covid, I don't see that happening any time for us. read more

These freezing New York temps have me craving the warm comfort of Thai food. When I need a quick Thai fix I usually hit Thai 101 on Bell Blvd in Bayside. Their service is top notch; the staff is quick and accommodating even during the dinner rush. My usual meal consists of 2+ appetizers plus 1 entree. My absolute must have appetizer wise is the Tom Yum Soup. It's the perfect mix of sour and spice reminding me of the couple weeks I spent in Thailand. Also pictured are the Crispy Calamari appetizer and the Thai Salad. Both were tasty and solid starts to the meal but the Tom Yum Soup was the absolute star of the show. The restaurant is long and narrow, but the layout does not make it feel cramped. The low lighting, crystal chandeliers and warm wood paneling gives this place a cozy bistro vibe. We always enjoy the food here. The menu offers all the typical Thai food. They have good lunch deals that ranges $10-12. The lunch specials come with appetizer and an entrée. The last time we visited, we ordered the chicken pad Thai, beef with stir fry vegetables, golden fritters, and crispy rolls. The beef with vegetables had a nice flavor and was slightly spicy. The chicken pad Thai was also good. I liked the fresh crunchy green veggies in it. It was a nice contrast to the sweetness of the noodles. For dessert we got the mango sticky rice. I always order this at every Thai restaurant. Luckily, mangoes are in season right now which made this the perfect dessert to get. Not only were the mangoes perfectly ripe but they were also huge! The staff is always lovely and the last time we went, I found them to be so very kind to my nephew who was having a mini melt down at lunch. They managed to get the food to our table quick which helped calm him down. I can't imagine not coming back as I've enjoyed my meals here in the past.
