As Dave W. pointed out, T.F.F. has a new owner. The business sign has been updated. I assume it was the new owner that was measuring the floor dimensions. I'll have to go back and see what modifications have been done. We went there on a whim. My best friend, and spouse, had a Dr Appointment in the morning and I had one in the afternoon. We were killing time and instead of driving all over creation we looked for a place with good air conditioning as temps approached triple digits. Tish remembered seeing a Chinese supermarket where the old Elliots hardware used to be. As we were walking in Tish exclaimed, "dumplings!" I immediately got a taste for dumplings in my mouth and once we'd checked out the market we visited Texas Forest Farm for some dumplings - side note: loved the market - even had live Maine lobster. We were greeted as we entered and a very pleasant woman helped us with our order. I had cabbage and pork dumplings and Tish had chicken and mushrooms. We were given a choice of sauces. Our hostess explained that the vinegar was traditional in China. We went with the vinegar based sauce instead of the usual soy sauce. The tang of the vinegar sauce lent itself to the dumplings perfectly. It was a welcome change. The dumplings were chock full of goodness. I could have eaten more. I am sorry I can only comment on the dumplings. There was a wide variety of other dishes we'd like to sample. One mark of a good establishment is if those who share ethnicity with the restaurant are present. All of the other patrons were Asian which puts another mark in the plus column. This is a small shop. Go there for the food. I have no idea what decor they'll come up with in the future. While the ambience lends charm to a dining experience, I'll take good food over flash every day of the week. Bottom line: We'll go back. I am anxious to try some of their other dishes. The back story also is intriguing. They actually raise much of the food they serve. Healthy and delicious - how can you go wrong?

We've eaten here more times times since Texas Forest Farm took over this location than the entire time North Town Chinese Kitchen was here. We've had several menu items, all of which were quite good. Standouts include the Chinese dough sticks (best we've had in TX by far), pan fried buns, organic pine seed rice dumplings, duck soup with vermicelli & shepherd's purse wonton noodle soup. Ordering process is straight-forward: pick your items, order at the counter, then sit down to wait for them to bring your items to your table. Owner and staff are also very pleasant. Do yourself a favor and give Texas Forest Farm a try!

4 pieces bun (baby fist size) for $9?? Are you kidding me? Ding tai Feng costs less than this and food in this restaurant tastes mediocre. Plus they have no service what so ever. The waitress had that annoying attitude when we order food. An old lady even yelled at us from the other table because we wanted to switch something from what we ordered. I think she is one of the owner. Bad experience! Bad service + Mediocre food + High price = avoid if possible. You will thank me later.

Overpriced and small portion. Look at my wonton.... no meat for $10? I am not sure how this is working out. The pork dumplings have a bad flavor too

Skin looked crispy but was not. Supposed to come with a mandarin sauce. Sauce I got had to be just soy & hoisin. No citrus flavor at all and very thin and salty. Oversalted potato slices, gummy rice & no veg. 2) Secret steak menu $63 - Sous vide ribeye was large and my husband liked it. This was also served with oversalted potato slices, no veg. 3) Slow braised pork $28 - Pork cut was pork belly which would have been nice to mention on the menu. My son wouldn't have chosen that entree if he knew that was the cut. It was a gelatinous mountain of darkened fat in a salty sauce. The bok choy was fine, simply steamed and unremarkable. Gummy rice. 4) Scallion pancake $8 - greasy and very light on scallions. Meh. 5) Blue crab & cheese wontons $12 - Very little filling, though what was in there was good. Mostly hard crispy wonton, not light or airy. The dipping sauce was giving mango baby food vibes. 6) Cocktails - Lychee Grapefruit Martini $13 and Baby Boulevardier $15 were good. 7) Bathroom was dirty and trach can overflowing onto the floor at 7pm on a Sunday night. 8) Had at least 4 different servers approach our table to take our orders and every time we tried to order they said they'd come back later due to the time it would take for the sous vide steak to finish cooking. It would have been nice to have a single server coordinate that timing with the kitchen instead of a parade of different people ask us to order and then leave when they heard there was a steak working. 9) Table had a view of a wine room that looked more like a storage room with lots of random cardboard boxes. 10) When they cleared the table and took the steak board away there was a greasy puddle under it that was never wiped up by anyone despite us remaining at the table for some time afterward. Overall yes on the steak & cocktails and that's about it. Would def not return. At that price point I was expecting fine dining and was sadly disappointed.

The prices are reasonable, but the quality and taste stand out. I highly recommend their soy sauce duck--whether you get a half or a whole, it's rich, tender, and packed with deep, savory flavor. Their sautéed kidneys are also excellent, cooked just right with bold seasoning. If you're looking for no-frills, high-quality Chinese cuisine, this is the place to go!

There was no price listed for this dish. Only picture with big pieces of tofu. But the real thing? Small cubes of tofu. I didn't put tip because it is in a food court. Total $27. Which make me think it was $15 for the pork chop rice and $11 for a small plate of tofu that didn't taste good. For reference I looked at a menu another Yelpers posted 10 months ago it says pork chop rice was only $10. I know there's inflation but 50% ? No way I posted pic below but don't be fooled by the angle. Tofu was closer to me and pork chop rice farther away. It was a small plate of tofu. Kid you not

The soup dumplings ended up having a sweet taste in the soup. The hot and sour soup was not sour at all, and I ended up, doctoring it a bit by asking for some vinegar. I would highly recommend against people ordering this if they're expecting the authentic Asian flavor profile. The beef noodle soup ordered medium spicy was not spicy at all and so next time if I ever go back, I'll have to get their extra spicy. And their tofu noodle soup did not have nearly as much tofu as the picture seemed to make us believe. The one thing I did really like was the wontons in the wonton soup so if I come back, I'll probably just be ordering that. Overall, I think I was expecting a classic Taiwanese flavor profile and was left wanting more.
