Made the trek up to Jim's finally! I've heard so many good things about this place that I'm glad to…read morecheck it off my Austin BBQ list. It's a BBQ truck & on a Saturday evening they had ALL MEAT ready! Nothing was out so we had our pick. We ordered the 2 meats and 2 sides plate to share with brisket, pulled pork, mac & cheese, and scalloped potatoes. Favorite part of the dish was by far the brisket which was close to perfect. Pulled pork was seasoned with peppers or something, so found it a little distracting. But everything was good. Service was great, we ordered at the truck & they brought it to us at the bar next door, which has seating, twinkle lights, and on Sat college football all around. A very good austin BBQ spot - would like to try more of their meats to taste it all.

I was the first and only customer at around 11am - 12 noon on a Friday in September 2025. I was…read morevery excited to try some great bbq at one of the most highly rated food trucks on Yelp and by others. It's about 25 minutes over curvy roads thru the hills outside of Austin central metro area. I was glad that I went because I've been to Austin many times yet had not been northwest of the city. I tried many items. The sides were only $4 for the "small" portions (which weren't that small), so I tried all of them. The mac and cheese cork screw pasta was especially delicious. In fact, every side was delish and decadent. The jicama cole slaw was good and crunchy, the scalloped potatoes delish, the sriracha cole slaw had a good kick. I also liked the green chili corn and the pinto beans (very hearty). There was a side of pickle chips and onions. Now for the most important part, the brisket. It had a delicious bark on it, but it was just a bit dry. When I told my native Austinite friends this later, they all got very quiet ;). I believe that perhaps the truck makes the meat every other day, and I was there on the second day and so the meat got a bit dry (I'm being purely speculative about this and could be wrong). But it was still amazing! The special that day was "The Volcano Sandwich" (see photos) with brisket, potato salad, bacon jam, jalapenos, and pepper vinegar sauce on a hamburger bun. By the ingredients list, I thought it would be spicy, but it really was not. It was excellent. I also got the straight slices of brisket in its purest form. Again, delicious but a bit on the dry side. I also opted for some pork and got the Maui Waui Taco with pulled pork, pineapple pico de gallo, and chipotle sour cream. It was very tasty and I recommend it for the pork. It had a good kick and just sweet enough, but too much so. I was unsure whether Jim's Smokehouse had a second location along Barton Springs Road in Austin because it was listed on the web. I tried calling a few times to get more information, but got voicemail both times. I confirmed later that, as of this writing, the dt Austin location was closed down. Jim's Smokehouse is co-located with a few other food trucks. There are picnics tables, shaded in the back and a ping pong table. That day, I was served by Cecil? who was incredibly friendly and very welcoming. Such a nice guy. He brought all the food out to me along with the entire napkin holder. He appropriately waited for about 15 minutes to bring me the dessert which was the Keylime Pie with strawberry sauce (on the side). I tell you the pie was fantastic - get it! I think Jim's Smokehouse is 5/5 overall. I would go again in a heartbeat.

We noticed a coffee bar in the back it also has a butcher shop next door with a glass wall between the shop so you can observe the processing of the meats. All marinated items are prepackaged and the ingredients are readily available in a bound laminated book This was SO helpful when looking for gluten free options. We decided on jerk marinated chicken and a steak. In addition I found the much coveted Dubai chocolate bar and had to give it a try. YUM! The jerk chicken was definitely spicy but perfectly balanced with flavor. The steak was of great quality. Definitely a must come back spot! Oh, and the service was wonderful. An interesting Halal spot close to home!!

I didn't intend to buy anything, but it looked so good that I ended up buying two packages of marinated chicken. I grilled the package of chipotle chicken and it was delicious. There was so much meat. You could tell it was expertly carved out by a butcher. They have so many different options. I will definitely coming back to try the other marinades.

Lazy G BBQ Company in Cedar Park is exactly what it sounds like: lazy. For a BBQ joint in Texas,…read morewhere the standard is high, this place is embarrassingly bad. Rudy's BBQ should be the baseline, yet Lazy G doesn't even reach that. I ordered the ribs and brisket, hoping for something decent, but both were far below average. The brisket was especially disappointing--you could see the congealed fat right in the slices (see pictures). Serving meat at the right temperature is BBQ 101, and their failure here made the texture and flavor a cold, greasy mess. The sides weren't any better. The cucumber salad was bland, with just a dusting of dill and no seasoning whatsoever. Adding salt and vinegar should be a no-brainer, but apparently, even the basics were too much effort here. I was excited to try the smoked mushroom side (as a mushroom lover), but it was downright unpleasant. There was zero smokiness, and the sauce tasted like a watered-down BBQ sauce, giving the button mushrooms a soggy, unappetizing texture. The BBQ sauce was another letdown--it tasted like bottled Sweet Baby Ray's. For a BBQ place, using (or at least mimicking) store-bought sauce is the ultimate red flag that they just don't care. Even at $22 for a two-meat plate, the quality doesn't justify the price. In short, Lazy G BBQ Company doesn't just fall short--it doesn't even try. If their goal was to live up to their name, they succeeded; this food is lazy, uninspired, and, frankly, not worth your time or money.

I would go back just for that pork belly with the black pepper bark! OMG…read more....... My husband never eats mac and cheese and I'll be darned if he didn't finish my Trashy Mac and Cheese for me that evening! Finally! Some mac and cheese that is actually delicious and creamy. The toppings of brisket, bbq sauce, french onions and jalapenos all stirred together makes each bite a little slice of heaven. WOW! The next morning he said, "I kept telling myself I need to leave a little bit more for Lee Lee but I kept opening it back up and eating more until it was all gone!" Good thing I had my bites right when we arrived at our hotel because I was so hungry. My husband ordered sliced brisket and we lucked out and got a few of the brisket burnt ends. They weren't all "candified" like a lot of the other bbq places serve; but they were smoky and delicious. I also enjoyed the potato salad. We were excited to order the smoked mushrooms but honestly, they could have used a bit more flavor for me. You could just tap the salt shaker and it would have been fine. I appreciated the creative side dish and love how the bbq scene has doubled down on the side hustle! It was cold out so we sat on the enclosed patio that had heaters and were very comfortable. We order a couple of beers and waited for our food. The service was friendly. This was a nice dining experience.

I ordered the Friday pork belly special. It included 3 thick slabs of pork belly and I opted for the jalapeño cheddar sausage as my second meat. My sides were potato salad and Cole slaw. My wife had the baby back ribs with Mac and cheese and cole slaw. The portions were large (we brought home leftovers) and absolutely delicious! The meats were moist, full of flavor, and very tender. The sides were large. The condiments available at the counter included jalapeños, pickles, and sliced onions. The service was incredibly friendly and engaging. Our food was served up quickly with a smile. We couldn't finish everything so brought the leftovers home to enjoy later. The ambiance is pure Texas BBQ with deer heads mounted on the wall and Ronnie Milsap playing through the speakers. We couldn't have asked for more. We will most certainly return for more deliciousness. Ambiance- 10/10 Service- 10/10 Food - 10/10

They wanted $63 for one rack of ribs NO SIDES, and their ribs tend to have a lot of overcooked, dried out jerky parts to their end tips. It was 5:30PM, their parking lot was empty and Willie's Ice House and Texas Roadhouse were directly next door and their parking lots were full. Just FYI... Full rack of ribs with two sides is $27 at Texas Roadhouse. Southside is too full of their own hype. Rudy's by far is so much better.
