The last couple of months I had to go to Scottsdale a few times to help a sick relative. I stayed…read moreat a couple of Scottsdale hotels and they were nice and had great staffs but they were old and worn out. Some things didn't work and the showers were just dangerous. My stay at the Best Western was fabulous. They had a great staff and when I called for an early check-in they were happy to accommodate me. This is in no way a luxury hotel but it is clean, it is new, and it's in a safe, quiet, neighborhood. The thing that struck me the most was how quiet it was in our room. I never heard our neighbors shower or toilet or TV. I never heard a door slamming or ice machines or traffic outside. All I can say is that if you want a good night's sleep in a nice clean, safe, hotel with a knowledgeable and courteous staff, don't look any further than the Best Western in Happy Valley. I will be back.

The place was very clean. That's always the biggest thing when staying away from home. The rooms were very cheaply done with pressboard furniture and metal springs for the mattress much larger than the mattress. Our TV had terrible sound quality and after a bit, felt it just wasn't worth watching. One big thing for us is a coffee pot in the room. There was none. If you wanted morning coffee, you had to get dressed and walk down to the main area. There were a lot of options for breakfast so the buffet offering was pretty good. What we thought strange (rude) was the fella working the front desk had to be first at making himself a waffle. So, we waited until he had his. Then, one more thing. As we walked to a table we saw a homeless person on the front patio, getting his things together and getting up. Does this hotel allow homeless to sleep there . Whether or not that is the case, it appeared as if they might. I'm giving the 3 stars for the breakfast and the cleanliness. I had to debate whether actually to take it down a notch but didnt.

My thoughts: - This place is pretty quiet and I often forget we even have neighbors - The garages are spacious, though they get blocked by vehicles more often than I'd like and I've been forced to park elsewhere several times. - Guest parking is fantastic - even on a Friday night, several spaces open - The pool and spa are amazing - The location is hard to beat - so many restaurants and stores in walking distance! - Maintenance staff is great!! Overall we loved our time here, but there are a few things to consider if they're important to you: 1) Almost ZERO enforcement of community rules. The EV parking spaces are frequented by non-EVs and sometimes EVs that aren't even using the space to charge their car. There are also a few people who bring their young children (I've seen a toddler and an 8-9 year old) to the gym which is incredibly dangerous. Management says "we've told them several times but they don't listen". Liability issue just waiting to happen! 2) Cleanliness of the common areas in the buildings is terrible. Once the management changed, cleaning was drastically reduced. The elevator is frequently filthy. The pool, spa, gym, main building are kept very clean, but it seems like they only prioritize the places seen on tours - ask to see a building other than the main office and you'll be surprised at the neglect! 3) The gym has motion sensor lights that shut off all the lights after only 3 minutes of inactivity. The problem is, the places where it can detect activity is limited. If you're on the treadmill or using the half of the room that isn't motion sensed, the lights will be shut off in 3 minutes. 4) They recently removed the codes for the gate and doors, making it a giant pain in the neck to get anything delivered to my door. Gates and doors provide a false sense of security in exchange for a hassle. Not a fan. We love when the gates break and we don't have to deal with them for a few days. That's all I can think of right now! Overall, no regrets living here!
