Frankly I'm upset that I even have to select 1 star because if it was up to me the rating would be a negative 5 star! I hate reviews As much as I hate public rants of nonsense, which I find some of these reviews to be at times, people like to complain about the bread not being served hot enough, or their forks not being properly positioned, there's a lot of self entitled nit wits writing reviews and forgetting they live on planet earth, where excuse my language, but shit happens, you don't live in the magical land Oz, and when it comes to culinary work, and the service industry, it is hard work! So cut people some slack, and don't expect lobster taster and quality, with Tuna can prices!!
Just why it bothers me so much to have to write up this review, I have been coming to Terra for years, a devout customer, Every Time I come I order in abundance, i am always with friends or family and we indulge usually leaving the bill to the equivalent of a monthly mortgage payment! In the last 2 years each visit has increasingly gotten worse, the only thing that has maintained is the great staff, and their service.
On my last visit this weekend I contracted food poisoning, THIS IS THE SECOND TIME FOR ME! Once for my boyfriend a few months back, and as well for my cousin and his girlfriend!! Starting a year ago I noticed the decrease of quality in the food, when another friend contracted a Nasty case of food poisoning, the funny part is, she called it! as she was eating her salad that she had to send back to the kitchen twice, she was scared to make a complaint the third time so she forced herself to eat it, wouldn't you know it, a few hours later all hell broke loose in her stomach maybe 20 minutes after eating, fever, vomiting, diareah, stomach cramping.. All from a salad? If you ask me those are symptoms of Visine poisoning potentially caused by an angry kitchen staffer that had to re make a salad 2 times, or felt like his kitchen skills were being criticized.
I always order oysters since terra is one of the only restaurants north of the city to carry them, and since we rank this a "fine dining" resto, I would, and have always expected the oysters to be First, and Freshest pick!
For those who don't know it's easy to differentiate a fresh oyster from "hazardous one" and I use the term hazardous because we are dealing with raw fish here, when raw fish isn't fresh you are exposing yourself to a whole new ball park of bacteria,
So very simply, to make sure your serving is fresh always sniff each oyster before consumption, there should be NO smell, no fishyness at all and the taste depending on the origin of the oyster should always be a cool salty and refreshing taste, if it happens to taste like Manure SPIT IT OUT!
I have had one too many Fishy smelling, Manure tasting experiences with Terra, which truly leaves me to question the standard, integrity and dedication to freshness. You are not allowed to have a pompous and self entitled attitude because you charge people up the ass, yet somehow fail to give us the quality of what we are paying for, no one cares about your Decor if the quality of your food is not up to par. I STRONGLY STRONGLY suggest the management sit down and revise its priorities, it is unacceptable for this kind of quality to be coming out of your kitchen! Please revise the decline of quality over last few years read more
