Honestly, we really wanted to like this place. the vibes were super cute and the food was delicious but the service was abysmal. Well the service at the two tables next to us was fine, but apparently once our food delivered we became invisible. No offer for a second drink (we wanted one), no offer for dessert (those churros did look good). Not sure what we did to upset the staff as we were having a good time before they started ignoring us. Three stars because we enjoyed everything we had, we just would have liked the opportunity/attention to order more. read more

It seems like this place is well loved, but the experience I had here was the exact opposite of all the great reviews. First, they messed up our 7:45 reservation and our table wasn't ready until almost 8:30 so we had to wait awkwardly near the door. However, our server was very nice and friendly. Food and presentation was terrible. We ordered a plate of olives, beets with labneh, fish and chips, and the chicken. The olives looked like it was dumped directly from a jar onto the bowl, beets were not prepared, labneh had no flavor, and the two sets of fries were dry dry dry, while the fish was oily from the inside and crumbly. However, the chicken was the best out of everything. Overall, it's a pretty solid zero star from the food experience, but I'll give them another star for the nice service (and will blame open table for the reservation snafu). And another star for the nice rooftop patio with heat lamps. Covid time dining is tough, but they certainly have an edge with it. read more

My family and recently dined at Terra Plata. They have a lovely rooftop garden, which is located on the second floor. We were lucky to get a reservation for the rooftop garden. The day was warm and gorgeous, which was so nice after a long winter. The sun beat down as we dined, which felt great. They serve farm to table cuisine, which they source from local growers and artisan producers. The dishes are sharable, and they offer a nice variety of starters, mains, and desserts. This was our first time eating there, but we'd been hearing so many good things for years. We started off with an Old Fashioned. To eat we ordered the House Made Potato Chips, the Sea Wolf Bakery Baguette, the Hand Cute Frites, the Tuna Crudo, and the Roasted Grapes. The Crudo had tuna, onions, mandarin oranges, and a spicy sauce on the side. Their menu changes seasonally, so this dish isn't on their website, therefore I'm unsure of the exact description and ingredients. The dish was so fresh and light, but I found the red sauce on the side to be too spicy. The Roasted Grapes were a unique dish I'd never tried before. The grapes came with oil cured olives and walnuts, and they were served warm. The dish was served with crostini and Cabrales cheese. The cheese tasted like goat cheese and was delicious! My boys loved the frites, bread, and chips- who wouldn't? Each dish was well made, and they all disappeared quickly. Our server was on it. She seemed to know what I needed before I asked, and she was cheerful and accommodating. My son had one of their house-made sodas, a Cherry-Vanilla flavor. We got a second round of cocktails. I tried the Seattle Raindrop. It had Vodka, ginger, grapefruit, cardamom, and cava. My husband had a South Bound. This drink had jimador reposado, sage simple syrup, ancho reyes, pineapple, lime, and fireworks bitters. While we sipped our cocktails and tried the different dishes, we took in the pretty views of downtown Seattle and the garden on the roof deck. For dessert, we shared an order of the Churros. They came with some tasty chocolate sauce for dipping! Terra Plata is a destination dining spot and is perfect for special occasions! read more

Came here for dinner with work colleagues on the recommendation of a local friend. I was delighted to see they had a gluten free focaccia on the menu and I'm excited to report it was AMAZING and a hit even with my gluten-eating colleagues. I will literally dream about that dish. Me and a friend made reservations to come here to enjoy some food on a rooftop and let me tell you this place DID NOT disappoint. Everything was amazing from the moment we walked in. They greeted us so well and our host was amazing! We got sat in the rooftop and it was perfect. The vibes were peaceful and calm. Our waiter was also great. Went to Terra Plata for the first time on Saturday night! Sat on the rooftop because the weather was beautiful (seems like the feel is a little different inside versus outside and next time, to compare, I'll sit indoors). We were surprised with the potato chips as it was our first time dining at the restaurant and they did not disappoint If you order the roast pig, which was very good, make sure to also order the bread! Oh lord where to begin...this would have never ever been a place that I would have picked myself. The restaurant is nice and clean. Most of the staff are smiling and happy to be there. Our server was very nice and easy to talk to. The restaurant has a roof top area that is pretty cool. Now let mw get to the food. I'm gonna be very clear...I never ever eat this kind of food. So my palate does not like these kind of flavors. I'm someone that cooks with a lot of sazon. I initially ordered the pasta but it was super fishy. Tasted like the noodles were made in fish tank water. Again...others would probably love it, not me or anyone else in my table. Since I only took a few bites they offered to give me something else so I picked the risotto. That just had no flavor that stood out. It looked like oatmeal and felt like I was eating oatmeal. I'm sure it's a ME thing, so let me make that perfectly clear. The drinks and desserts were super yummy but very expensive. Not worth the money if you ask me. Main dishes averaged 30 bucks and desserts almost 20 bucks. Nope! The best part of dinner was overly priced baguette and drinks. If you're looking for a place that worth your money and your used to food with a lot of flavor I do not recommend this place. If these are all stuff your used to then please come here. We have visited Terra Plata many times over the last 7 years. Birthdays, graduation, Mother's Day, etc. During these years the experience has gone down due to bad service. This last Mother's Day half of our party did not receive their food until ALL of us were finished. No comp or anything....because I have been a huge fan of TP I did not leave a review BUT they now appear as a restaurant lobbying against paying their workers minimum wage in Seattle. Therefore I will not return. Maybe you should pay your employees so everyone has a good experience. read more

Really 3.5 stars. Per extremely small menu, we got three appetizers: roasted Shishito pepper, potato chips, and charcuterie board. While they were all good tasting, they lacked the jazz that I expect. After all, this is supposed to be the establishment that pair excellent snacks with even better drinks. The menu said the charcuterie to have chicken liver. The chef decided that rabbit liver was really better for us, without asking first. While he or she was correct -- the liver was savory and rich and addictive -- I wished that the server would have informed us about the change of ingredient at the time of the order. The chips were crispy and nicely fried, without over-seasoning like I like. but the dipping was really just plain, so was the aioli for the blistering shishito peppers which, for my taste, could have been a bit more blistering. Ling Cod was well done. But the bedding lentil beans was heavy on the acidity. For desserts, the churros were wonderful. The chocolate sauce has just a hint of kick to be mysteriously interesting. The lemon sorbet, however, was so sour that it should not be counted as a dessert. What kicked this into a 4-star? The COVID preparation! Tables were well spaced, staff were diligent, and guests well behaved. I felt safe here. The server disappeared and came back 15 min later to take our order, still didn't have my drip coffee. At this point, we were one of 4 small groups on the rooftop patio. We never received the churros we ordered for the appetizer, and then our meals arrived. It would have been nice to get a warmup on my coffee and have our waters refilled, as it was, no one came back to check on us until we were completely done. We requested our check, paid and left. Booked for a group of 12 via OpenTable for Terra Plata, and only discovered I had booked for the wrong day when their staff reached out to confirm the reservation. They were very accommodating and managed to move us over a day with minimal changes to the time. Day of, a member in our party invited an additional 8-10 people (rude). Our waiter, William, was able to finagle an additional table space next to our original group. Food was simply divine. A must to try are the crispy Brussels sprouts, creste di gallo pasta (creamy mushroom heaven), and the local chanterelle and lobster mushroom potato soup (full of depth and flavor). I went with the roasted wild red rockfish - two small fillets served on a base of herb pancakes, this was a delightful blend of ingredients. Note: their menu is most likely quite seasonal, and our waiter recommend the fish. What made the meal was our waiter: William, and the supporting waitstaff. Drinks and food came out in good time (and the rooftop outdoor space was busy,) and we were well taken care of. A must if you're in Seattle. Do make reservations in advance. I was shocked by the slow service. I was also surprised that the waiter just "throws" the plate on the table for us. The paella was good (they only service Paella on Mondays) but small. Rice was a bit too moist for me. The salmon was well cooked and charred. The shrimp was tasty. They also messed up our order for the appetizers. We wanted Shishito peppers but they ran out (so fast?) . Then later we ordered piparras & boquerones but the red pepper stuffed with tuna came to us instead (stuffed piquillo peppers). churros was okay. The rooftop terrace is delightful and cozy- but that's where the nice qualities of this restaurant end. For the prices (~30-40 a plate), the food is incredibly bland and simple. Nothing was necessarily wrong with what they brought us, it's healthy and good quality ingredients- but geez why am I breaking the bank over a dish that has no love or character? Are spices and creativity banned in this kitchen? Is the chef allergic to making food taste good? If I want roasted chicken with sweet potatoes and onions I can make it myself. I go to restaurants such as Terra Plata to get a taste of what the chef feels inspired by- what's their story? Why are they a chef? How do they source their ingredients? All I got was boring, bland, basic American dinner and it made me sad. Avoid unless $40 for a plate of depressing food is in your budget. Also watch out for the wasps that love the terrace as much as people do. read more

Terra Plata has one of my favorite rooftops in Seattle. It's not so much the view here, but it's the setting. Located on Capitol Hill in a corner building by Melrose Market, it's a great restaurant for fare with a twist. I've been here a few times and the place is always packed during peak hours. It's a worth a visit though, so do get your name on the list. And of course for those sunny days in Seattle, sitting on the rooftop is ideal. The space is large enough, with an industrial feel to it. The bites were good. I've only been for cocktails and snacks, which were solid. We had shishito peppers and housemade chips, both of which were delicious and easy to share. I'll have to come back for an actual meal, which I hear is even better. read more

I love Terra Plata. Tamara Murphy continues to lead her kitchen to put our beautiful and flawless food. Linda is the most generous, welcoming and kind person and always makes you feel like you're at your best friend's house for dinner, with a big sun washed deck filled with friends. Such a wonderful vibe at Terra Plata. Sitting up on the rooftop is always great (so is sitting inside with the big open windows or at the bar for a quick glass of wine and burger). Service is amazing and the food is fantastic. Great wine recommendations by Edward. Crudo is wonderful and always done just right. It's a really perfect dish. Overall phenomenal meal! Service was absolutely on point. Their upstairs patio/outdoor seating is amazing. It is a little oasis right in the middle of downtown Seattle/Capitol Hill. From the special little touches of making the menu personal with birthday wishes and a candle with dessert Terra Plata is definitely a place to try. As far as the food the only miss of the night for me was the Albacore Crudo dish. It was a good portion size but overall needed more seasoning. The Rags and Tatters pasta dish with chanterelle mushrooms was the star of the night. It was creamy and cheesy and there were plenty of lovely succulent mushrooms. Both the salmon and chicken dishes was also amazing. Both proteins cooked perfectly and has great sauces and accompanying sides. For dessert the chocolate cake was divine. Rich but not overly so. All of there dishes are meant to share so bring your friends/family or just go by yourself but Terra Plata is not to be missed! read more

4.5 stars Terra Plata is a classic dining experience - one I haven't had in a pretty long time. I visited this establishment for the first time in a large group of 13 (work event) and honestly my expectations were somewhat high. Mostly because my coworkers chose this spot and as I've said in past reviews, they have good taste. I'll start off with the service. Long story short - it was pretty great. First, they allowed us to get seated without the entire party present because we arrived in staggered groups. I sadly don't recall the name of our sever but she was friendly, informative, and organized. She was able to promptly and effectively provide us with menu information and take our orders. I really appreciated how all the Terra Plata employees were so attentive. We had three other people, who were not our server, refill our waters, bring food, remove finished plates, and even take photos for us. Amazing work here! Now time to the best part - the food! We ordered the house made potato chips, shishito peppers, sea wolf baked baguettes, hand cut frites, artisan cheeses, roasted bone marrow, charcuterie, risotto, lamb riblets, a tuna dish, a tomato dish, a pasta dish, and a salad. All the food items were high-quality and well-made. I didn't like every single dish due to personal preferences but the majority were good/I could see why others liked it. You could tell that Terra Plata put a lot of thought into their menu. I also ordered the Seattle Raindrop and the Spanish Gin & Tonic. Both drinks were fabulous - both presentations were beautiful and they were mixed well. The aesthetic is like modern rustic with wood dominating the space. It's pretty bright during the day due to the multiple large windows but gets dim in the evening. Overall, Terra Plata was a great experience and I'd like to return to try their brunch! read more

Our waiter and the food were excellent. The issue is the hostess. We went for dinner for my daughter's birthday. When we sat down at 5:45 for our reservation, the hostess told us we could only have the table until 7:00pm??? We didn't really know how to respond to this other than saying ok. In hindsight, it was all of the sudden stressing us out. And, as the dinner progressed, we knew we would not be done by 7pm. We just finished our main courses at 7pm. Now we are stressing about it being 7pm and we still haven't had the chance to order desert. We left without ordering desert. We told the waiter what the hostess told us and he had to go ask her if we could have more time. We were so over it, even though he came back and gave us a "Time Extension" we were do stressed, we wanted to get out of there. What a disappointment. This is an example of bad customer service. Unbelievable. Anyway, no desert for my daughter on her birthday. Only a stressful disappointment. Yes, I know how this sounds but customer service takes brains and Terra Plata doesn't get it. Oh my stars. I don't even know where to start with this fabulous place from check in to the dine in experience. First of all, I forgot to bring my mask and they were kind enough to provide one for muah. After we were promptly seated, yes, right away and none of the "everyone in the party needs to be here" deal. We were escorted to a beautiful table setup on the roof. Bonus points is definitely on the personalized menu for our group!! The entire experience is further enhanced with great food and coffee. Our server, Josh, was super attentive and friendly.
