This was my first time to Serafina's and it did not disappoint. I rarely go out for Italian because I'm Italian and anything I want homemade I make myself, but Serafina's was exceptional. I had the Carbonara, and my partner had the Bolognese, and each were of the highest quality. The flavors were robust and tasted homemade. I was especially happy to see that the bolognese was made with pork shoulder, a staple in my family's cooking. The Bolognese was cooked to perfection, al dente rigatoni, and the Carbonara was not overly rich. The guanciale was well cut, not overly fatty, and not burnt or crispy, so it added full flavor and wonderful texture to the dish. The green onion also added a lovely dimension to the dish. The staff were kind and helpful, and this is definitely a spot I look forward to returning to. Highly recommend for authentic Italian that's not pretentious or over priced. read more

Serafina is a fantastic Italian restaurant in the Lake Union area of Seattle. I came here for a Sunday dinner. There were many tables unoccupied, so getting seated was easy. The patio area is beautiful and adorned with lush greenery and flowering plants. The service was out of this world and executed with a home-like feel. My waitress was ultra nice to the point where it felt almost too nice (if that's even possible). I tried several dishes. The bruschetta is a must try. It comes served with grilled focaccia and three very tasty toppings - olives, cheese with honey, and smoked salmon. The burrata was good, the crackers overpowered flavors of everything else with paired together. Lastly, the carbonara seemed like a modern take with the use of sun dried tomatoes as a surprising twist. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here and would 100% recommend others to visit. read more

What a tragic end to a beautiful start. This restaurant is so romantic looking especially in their courtyard and the servers are all very nice. But that's as far as it goes. We ordered 1 appetizer (the octopus) and the seafood spaghetti and duck confit gnocchi. The octopus dish was nice and my favorite out of the three. But the baseline is very low. It had a nice char and not chewy. Seafood spaghetti was mediocre at best and I can make it better home. It was a bit sloppy. As for the gnocchi, I took one bite and said nope. It was a combination of dry and flavorless. Also gets a bit crumbly when you bite in the middle because it was undercooked? The squash was also not cooked enough either. Overall, that dish is barely a 1/5. On top of the mediocre food, the food took very very long to come out. Our one appetizer and two pasta dinner took 3 hours total. While the servers were very nice, that is too long of a wait. I'm too old to be at a restaurant for 3 hours on a Tuesday. read more

Been to Serafina years ago, had a wonderful time, so decided to return, but this experience was a bit disappointing. I think the kitchen just wasn't delivering tonight. We ordered two appetizers, the special, and a bottle of wine. The two appetizers were excellent, but soon after ordering, at around 7:20pm, on a Friday, we were told the special was already out. So we ordered a pasta main instead, was not inspired by the other main choices. Took over an hour to bring a simple pasta dish, which I felt didn't deliver. Wine choice was excellent as was the server. But running out of your special early in the evening, and the extremely slow service, and a disappointing main, along with the surprise 5% surcharge, with a nearly $250 bill, kinda soured me to the experience. This 5% surcharge is especially irritating and, is really false advertising. I get the cost of doing business is rough, but people go out and don't mind spending money on a good experience, and to support a great restaurant, but don't show me the cost of a meal, which I support, and then surprise me that the meal is actually 5% more when the bill comes. I'm not coming back when you pull that crap on me. read more

Romantic date night spot. Restaurant is very intimate. Service is polite and attentive. My man surprised me with reservations for a calm and delicious meal. We both enjoyed the wine thoroughly and my boyfriend had two glasses as he was impressed. The spaghetti I ordered was delicious and I finished my plate! My boyfriend was a little disappointed as his plate the side was a bit small and felt and looked more like a dollop which was the only critique he found. I felt his dish was tasty but a little dry. We enjoyed our time here but table seating can be a bit close as one table next to us was a bit nosey and looked over at us a bit too often for my boyfriend's liking and too interested in what we were doing so didn't feel very private to have open discussion to be honest. Are here with a party of five. This was a celebration of my friend's mother, coming here from Singapore. We made our reservation for 5:30 pm. We were guided to the bar, where we waited until 6:20 for a table. Unfortunately, the wait time for our table, was our first impression of this restaurant. At 6:20, we are in the bar, still waiting for our table. We are all hungry now and slightly impatient. Our impression of this restaurant now is that of a high scale cafeteria. Too many people crammed into a small space. Similar to airplane seat, you must twist if anyone wishes to move. Constant bumping of seat and chairs by staff and other patrons. Clearly Overwhelmed wait staff with the many diners. High prices that demand a level of service unattainable here. Kitchen that struggles with the amount of orders and their level of help. So, first Oder was for focaccia. Nice presentation, with a slightly spicy oil oil dip. Next, We started out with the burrata and po polo, octopus as a starter. The burrata came with marinated mushrooms, winter squash puree, spiced pepitas and black pepper-sage crackers. Very nice selection of flavors and a nice lighter appetizer to start. The octopus had a sala verde that compliments the olives and salsa verde flavors. A more unique dish, which we enjoyed for the fresh fish flavors and acidity of sauces. Our server was helpful at first, in guiding us through the menu. After placing our orders, we did not see them again until bill was presented. Unfortunately, we wanted to place more orders for drinks, side dishes and dessert. We ordered the gnudi as the pasta dish and the Rigatoni bolognese. The pasta is wonderfully homemade. It is cooked to al dente, which means there is a fine line between just right and undercooked pasta. Both dishes were undercooked and slightly crunchy in a bad way. Need more sauce on the pasta, as these were under sauced and dry. Three orders of Osso Buco came next. This was described as Braised center cut lamb shank, brown butter polenta, Tuscan kale, pine nut tapenade. A slow cooked lamb shank, falling off the bone, is an incredible dish. Their version was quite good. Could have benefited from more slow cooking, as it was quite not falling off the bone tender. The brown butter polenta was good, albeit a bit runny. Kale and pine nuts only added a slight dash of flavor. The other order was the fish. This had Pan roasted trout, Manila clams, saffron brodo, fregola sarda, cipollini agrodolce, cherry tomato, Taggiasca olive, romanesco. The olive savory sauce compliments the mild flavors of the trout and clams. Unfortunately, service was overwhelmed with other diners. Had to fight to get our check. Wanted dessert. But after sitting for two hours, needed to attend to other family responsibilities, our kids were patiently waiting for us to return. If they cut down on seating and trying to serve too many people, this would markedly help customers. As it is, their focus is on being understaffed for the volume of people they serve. No wonder staff is cranky. Servers overwhelmed. Kitchen rushed. Front desk crazy. Concern yourselves with trying to scale down and present the best experience possible to the loyal customers you have. I've been here a handful of times for happy hour with girlfriends and never been disappointed. The space is cozy, warm, maybe you could even call it romantic- we usually sit at the bar and appreciate the kind woman who makes beautiful drinks. The food is very good. It's kind of expensive but you get what you pay for. The bread is my favorite part and it's unreal how soft and delicious it is. I think about it all the time- the bread, that is. Tried this place for Seattle restaurant week and overall this spot seems really nice, def good date spot as everyone around us was on a date, and we passed by the outside area and it looks really cute --- but to me the food is missable and I probably won't come here again. The grilled octopus was alright, good char and all that but didn't really like the stuff underneath it and wanted like a squeeze of lemon on top. The spaghetti pasta was alright but idk the pasta texture is obviously better than store bought one but the sauce and all that was just meh, scallops were small and shrimp just ok. The gnocchi dish was by far the worst dish and I just took it home and gave it to my friend who did like it. I just thought it didn't have much flavor and the gnocchi was a bit dry and hard. Stopped by here on Sunday after a drive that lasted far too long. My boyfriend and I were starved and were not expecting the greatest interaction of the day was to be with our bartender Amanda. I was craving a hard kombucha but unfortunately they were not available on tap, or at all. Luckily, Amanda was there. She recommended a Shrub, which was a million times better than what I was looking for. Making the shrub was clearly not easy, we watched her throw together an orchestra of ingredients in multiple cups and containers. She was doing her thing. The shrub was delicious and she translated all the italian on the menu for us and recommended a special that knocked our socks off lol. Lastly, we ordered a couple pastas to go (the special by her rec) she made me another drink, and we left happy and ready to enjoy our food. Food was delicious even after dragging it around for a few more minutes. I hope yall give her a raise because she made the experience, all while handling multiple other drink orders. Delightful dinner experience (even though the parking was terrible due to the street being torn up for blocks). Busy night and we were lucky to grab a table due to a last minute cancelation. Ordered arancini to start and it arrived with four small balls, perfect to share. I enjoyed the lasagna and my wife had the mushroom crema Risotto. Both dishes were full of flavor and enough to take some leftovers home. Service was spot on and I highly recommend making reservations to enjoy this Italian delight! This was our second time dining at Serafina and unfortunately it left us disappointed. We had a reservation for 7pm and were seated after about 5 minutes. The restaurant was packed. We were sat at a very small table right next to the bathroom. I love the ambiance, but the lighting is so dim that I have to admit it is hard to see the menu or what you are eating. The service was pretty fast, but our waitress was quite short with us. She checked in often but definitely didn't go above and beyond. She was borderline rude, but my partner and I have both worked in the service industry and are very forgiving. The food was just ok. We got the burrata, octopus, spaghetti, and cavatelli. The burrata was a bit odd, I wasn't the biggest fan of the flavors. Particularly the pear. But the crackers were excellent! The octopus was good! Nothing special. Pasta was quite mediocre. Not very flavorful and my partner had a bad mussel in his spaghetti. The veggie cavatelli was 32$ which seems outrageous to me. I decided to eat half for dinner and save the other half for lunch the next day. I asked our waitress for a box. She completely forgot and threw my food away! This was seriously a bummer. What a lovely upscale Italian dining experience! While visiting Seattle, my partner and I went on a double date with my friend and her boyfriend. We had a reservation and got seated after finding street parking. Not too busy since it was a weekday... and raining. The restaurant is dimly lit and moody with friendly and professional customer service. We ordered SO much food. Hard to keep track of everything we got, but we started with Octopus, Burrata, and Tuna Tartare. Delicious! Especially the octopus. Everyone's entrees looked and tasted incredible. I got a Risotto dish, while others got Lasagna, Spaghetti, and Cavatappi dishes. Some of them were specials while others were rotating menu items. Tons of desserts followed, namely Apple Cake, Chocolate Cake, and some sort of birthday custard in a cup. We took some of the food home, and it was still fantastic as leftovers. One of the most memorable culinary adventures I've had in Seattle. Next time I want to explore more of their alcoholic beverages and even try Cicchetti, their sister restaurant! read more

Very attentive service and nice ambience for a birthday celebration with my wife. Our first time so, as I often do, we went with a number of the advertised specials. A pepper and pickled cauliflower appetizer featured a feta yogurt dipping sauce that was very nice - Just the right amount of heat cooled nicely by the feta. Next we chose the short rib risotto special that was also paired with a yogurt feta sauce, with fresh mint and dill. The risotto was decent, but the short ribs were a bit dry and needed the yogurt sauce for moisture. The sauces felt repetitive between appetizer and main, but a glass of Sangiovese smoothed things over. For dessert we chose the lemon bread pudding with berries and vanilla gelato with cacao nibs. The bread pudding was disappointing - mealy and dry. So we combined the two desserts and they married well together. Overall, the vibe and service pulled our review up from a 3 1/2 to a 4. The food was good but not noteworthy. I would probably find another Italian restaurant in the city to spend my $250 next time. read more

We came for my mom's birthday back in July 2023. Indoor seatings were a bit cramped. The table next to us was maybe 1 foot away from our chairs. Besides the tight space, everything was perfect. Service was very attentive and friendly. Appetizers and main courses were delicious. Appetizers: Octopus was well cooked, not dry at all. Bruschetta was fun as you have 3 toppings to choose from! I've been eyeing this place for over a year and when I finally tried it out a few weeks ago I was mildly disappointed. :( The disappointment comes from a vegetarian standpoint. There aren't that many options and I wasn't a huge fan of the vegetarian dish we ordered. We ordered the Pane, Bruschetta, and a vegetarian Risotto. The Pane and Bruschetta were very good, especially the green olive tapenade. The risotto was nice for the first couple bites, but wasn't a huge fan afterwards. I will say the service and especially the ambiance was really nice. I think for someone who eats meat this place will prove to be much better than for someone who is vegetarian. read more

The food was very good! We made a same day reservation for a Friday and were seated right away. I'd recommend a res because we watched some walk ins get turned away in front of us. The server was great and very helpful with their recommendations. The ambiance was really cool! It felt quirky but fancy and modern. I'd love to go back and try the eggplant. The cavatelli teléfono was quite good and so were the arancini. My partner enjoyed the polpo and lasagna. We both liked our drinks a lot (plenty of non-alcoholic options!) and the bread was lovely. It's a cute place. I've been wanting to try it ever since my friends recommended it. Bread - yummy Brussel Sprouts - good flavor and really pretty looking dish. I was disappointed in the amount of sprouts we got....it seems more full of other veggies or sauce. Bolognese - my pasta was undercooked unfortunately. I took a picture and you can see the white inside the pasta meaning it was raw on the inside. I didn't end up saying anything but I probably should've told the chef/waitress. The flavors were good overall but I wish there was more meat in the sauce - hardly got any. The pasta was also weird because it was soggy on the outside but somehow remained undercooked on the inside - not sure how they did that. Osso Bucco - that entree was yummy. A business dinner here for six people. I was immediately pleases that the table location and set up was as requested. We were a few minutes late due to the difficult parking situation resulting from road construction on Eastlake. Nevertheless we were seated immediately. Our server was exuberant and reasonably efficient with our ordering. The floor was full and the kitchen was busy but our food was served with reasonable timeliness. The food itself was excellent. The cocktail I had, the classic Negroni, seemed a bit off but others did not complain. The sommelier seemed a bit put off that we brought in a bottle of wine. It was very packed. Ambience (1/5) - The tables were very close to each other. Every time when someone passed through, they would hit my chair which was super annoying after sometime. I would have appreciated if they had left someplace to walk by comfortably to avoid hitting chairs. Food (2/5) - The wine that we ordered was pretty average. As the options were really limited for pasta, we went for Pollo and lasagna. The sauce was good. However, the roasted chicken wasn't seasoned well. It felt pretty bland. The interior is very intimate, cozy and romantic. You just know it's going to be a good meal once you step inside. The food never disappoints as well. I visited here a handful of times and was always able to be seated at the bar right w away. The bar tenders were great whenever I asked for wine recommendations. Their red wine selection is good.
