I ate at Terra E. Mare on 6/24/23. I had made reservation via OPENTABLE. Our server/manager Jessy was SUPER RUDE, SUPER ANGRY and he threw the menu at me when I had a question about desert menu. He refused to take our order for drink and told me the barman has closed down the bar. so we only ate food without any drinks. I complained to one of the boss boys why our server is super angry, who told me JESSY is always angry. Since the tip was already added to the bill, there was nothing I could do to show them how unhappy i was with server's attitude. I did add to the bill that server was rude and 20% addition of the tip was uncalled for. when the service is really bad, I dont care if food is bad or good. Nevertheless, one of my guests, my elderly brother in law, got really sick after a few hours and he had diarrhea but thank god he did not need to go to the hospital . read more

When we were finally acknowledged- we were offered a small 2 person table next to another couple - understandable if the place was busy. There were 3 other groups in total. Disappointing meal. This restaurant was once great. Sadly, the food is no longer great, but the prices have not gone down, and that is the main reason for my review. The disappointing quality of the shellfish is worth pointing out, both the oysters on the half shell and the frutti de mare. Two of my party ordered the cocktail named Pitchfork, the menu said it included egg whites but the drinks we received were different. The restaurant was pretty empty, not a surprise. read more

Overall we had a great experience- friendly staff and our pasta dishes were awesome. For homemade pasta and the portion - I felt the price was what I'd expect. I have to say that the charcuterie was wildly disappointing. We paid more for a charcuterie board for 2 ($33) than our pasta ($28) - and there was ONE slice of prosciutto, 3ish very thin slices of a salami, and 2 more slim/small pieces of another meat. 6 small triangles of cheese, the equivalent of maybe one dried apricot diced in odd small pieces, and two tiny pieces of crostini bread. There was also 2 small ramekins of jam and honey - way more than we'd ever need for the amount of food on the board. Again - pasta was amazing. Either the charcuterie needs to be bulked up or price needs to be adjusted. read more

Tried this neighborhood spot for the first time with some of my neighbors who have been there before...the food was great but the service, not so much. We got there at 6pm the place was almost completely empty and the waiter seated us at the worst table in the entire restaurant - right next to the bathrooms and literally right next to all the water pitchers, they were so close to us that we could have served ourselves water. We asked to be moved, they did so with no issue, but why they thought it was a good idea to seat us where they did originally was ridiculous and was a terrible first impression. Then our waiter's attempts at humor after we asked if we could have two separate bills, was very poorly timed. The food however was great. I had the fillet and it was one of the best steaks I've had in a while. We still manged to have a good time, in spite of the poor service. Not sure I would go back, if I did it would be for the food and not the service. read more

What a wonderful evening, man. First time coming here. On a family friends recommendation I ordered the Bolognese. The Bolognese was absolutely perfect. Hand-made in-house pasta from scratch in the back with simple fresh ingredients, and a very very generous portion size. I just came back from Italy, and this dish was absolutely up to par. Their sister restaurant Pagliacci's actually has a much better chef, even though this is supposed to be the more upscale and gourmet place. HERSCHEL is the man!!! He really turned around our dining experience for our Christmas Eve dinner! We were ignored for the first 15-20 minutes (our waitress was super busy). And then the hostess was terrible, she was so rude where she threw menus at us without saying a word. She should stick to folding napkins. He came and elevated our experience by helping us pick an excellent wine to accompany our fantastic dinner. Our favorites dishes were the Branzino, Squid ink lobster ravioli, and the Tiramisu. Wow talk about Horrible service! Four of us went for dinner, our waiter was Juan. The whole night he was MIA, there was multiple times since we were sitting close to the door we asked the hostess if she could get out waiter because he was no where to be seen, there was also a few occasions where we asked the bus boy to get the waiter, at one point when he walked up even he asked if we would like sparkling water, we said yes he brought the bottle, opened it and said oh let me go get some glassware, never to come back, we flagged him down at one point and he's all oh yeah let me get those, then he had the bus boy bring the glasses, never apologized once, then at one point when we had already had our appetizers we were waiting for about half an hour to order our main meal before yet again we had to ask the hostess to get out waiter because we were ready to order, to sum it up it was just horrible service. EVEN with the horrible service that we received, we left him a 15% tip which was more than what he deserved. At the end of the night when my boyfriend when to use the restroom Juan had the audacity to corner him and ask him "was there something wrong with the service because your tip does not represent my service" Wow wow wow, are you kidding me???????? When he came back to the table and he told me what the waiter said he just wanted to leave but there was no way that after this horrible service that he provided and the audacity of cornering someone to question a tip i was going to even leave a penny of tip for him. I asked for the Bill back and crossed out the tip to zero and it got escalated and meanwhile the manager was just behind the bar listening to the whole thing and never once stepped in to defuse the situation or apologize, so if a manager is so careless then it explains how a waiter who gave absolutely horrible service allows himself to even ask such a question. They get two stars because the hostess was absolutely lovely and the chef made great food! But with the unprofessional service and lack of management i would not recommend this restaurant. read more

First time there. It's nice inside and the people helping were also nice. Unfortunately they didn't have enough wait staff to take care of everyone in a timely manner. Our waitress was very nice and tried to be helpful but had too many tables to attend. It took us about 20 minutes to order a cocktail and then my wife was told they couldn't make her drink which was featured on the menu because the bartender didn't have one of the ingredients. Anyway, the food was decent, not great and it was pretty expensive. I had seafood pasta and my wife had chicken and along with 2 cocktails it was $140 including tip. I might go back because we had a nice time and it is within walking distance of my house but was a bit disappointed with the food especially considering the price. I wish them the best. read more

Decided to try this place out but unfortunately this place fell short. The hostess and the bartender were the only two attentive staff, and we had no idea who was our actual waiter because there were so many other staff serving us apart from the person that took our order. The drinks were just about the best part of our meal, even though mine came in a goblet filled with ice. The biggest let down was how hard it was to get our waiters attention. I understand being short staffed but we watched the person who took our order taking his sweet time with the larger group of pretty models two tables down, so it couldn't have been that busy. Our starters were fries which came half cooked and oily, a Caesar with all the dressing slapped in the middle, and a beef tartar hidden in a forest of arugula. It also really confused me that the bread was ice cold, when it had just been brought out. I had the lobster spaghetti which featured a half lobster body with chewy meat left in the bottom of the tail, with a spaghetti that couldn't seem to hold the sauce to save its life. The saffron risotto was so over seasoned that all I could taste was a bitter saffron bite to pair with an island of bone marrow. The piece de resistance however is that not only did the bartender have to find another waiter to take a dessert order. we were given three separate sharing plates for a dessert that was the size of a dollar coin. Terra E. Mare is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is outstanding, the ambience is warm and inviting and the staff is great. We enjoyed dinner there last night. We ordered Tuna Tartare (fantastic), Caesar Salad (the best in town) and Cacio Pepe (need I say more?). It was perfect. I made reservations for my party of 4 and we were seated right away. I loved the elegant ambiance inside the restaurant. All of our drinks and the food we ordered were pleasantly delicious. For appetizers, we started with the Beef Tartar and a dozen oysters. Everyone enjoyed the oysters and the beef tartar was pretty good as well. Then we ordered the Lobster pasta, Filet mignon, and the NY Steak. Everything was seasoned perfectly and the chimmichuri sauce went well with our steaks! We then ended the night off with the Pistachio Cannoli. Overall, my experience here went really well and I would definitely come back to try other dishes on their menu! read more

Not good. Salmon was wayyyyy over cooked. White in the middle. Temp so hot on our salmon and risotto you could burn your mouth on it. That's not how you should serve salmon. Service wasn't good. Overall, each dish lacked flavor. So bland. Lobster risotto needed salt or acid, or something. Bread was cold and hard, gave us 2 tiny pieces. Cannoli also lacked flavor. Won't be going back. I've lived in the Sherman Oaks for 23 years and this is one of the best restaurants to open near home. Everything I had was exceptional: The calamari appetizer, the carrot ginger soup (super special, must try!), and the mushroom truffle fettucini. All were more than just good, they were WOW! We had dinner here last night as a birthday celebration. When we walked out, my wife and I said we'll have a Birthday celebration at least once a month. Let me explain. The first thing you notice is the service. Tom, our waiter, was attentive, without being annoying. The menu is full, the ambiance was a delight, and one can dine outside, inside, or in a private enclosed porch. Now the food. We had three different meals, and not two minutes into them, we were telling each other how tasty each was. Delicious food!! Great dinner place in Sherman oaks with a very extensive menu of European and Italian classic dishes like beef tartare, pasta, meat and fish. The menu is mostly focused on meat and fish like the name says. We tried the oysters and calamari as an appetizer. My wife got the cioppino and I got the special with the wagyu filet and risotto with truffles. The filet was good medium rare and very tender and served with a generous amount of shaved black truffles. The risotto was a little overpowering with the truffle oil added but overall a great dish and I finished it all. Great restaurant, we would come back to try some of the other dishes. read more
