Took a chance and booked a table for 5 for a going away party-it did not disappoint! Our server was Ivana and she was friendly and great! I had the Clementina and it was tasty! Drinks and food are a bit pricey but it was well worth it- quality was there and worth the price. Welcome addition to Anchorage! read more

I usually like eating at the bar, especially when I'm dining alone. But this wasn't fun at all. Although I was the only one at the bar for a while, the bartenders barely talked to me. Most disappointing, my appetizer took more than 25 minutes, as I watched others at the tables (who ordered after me) get theirs. He didn't have an explanation for the delay, and barely apologized. Also, I had a paloma margarita and it was pretty tasteless. I do really like the choices on the menu, though I wish you could mix and match different tacos, and the atmosphere looks super fun. I'm not sure if I'll return though. read more

It was a busy Saturday evening and there was no hostess to be found for several minutes. My margarita was faaarrrrf too strong (and I like my alcohol). I get that it's supposed to be a fancied up Mexican restaurant, but I tend to look down at margaritas not served in a big round goblet glass thingy. But oh well. Boyfriend's duck tacos were delicious! They didn't have a bunch of pointless slaw piled on top, and you could actually get one entire bite without it falling apart. Huge thumbs up for that. I got chicken enchiladas and was very happy with it. The sauce had great flavors and just a slight kick. I thought it was a good price for the large portion. Service was so so. But food came out reasonably fast for how busy it was. I'm sure we'll be back, maybe for happy hour for lower prices. read more

I did not set out to find a tequila bar on my journey in downtown Anchorage, but I am glad we found this gem. Stopped in for happy hour and they did not disappoint. There was a nice selection of draft beers along with bottled options. They have a full bar with some specials for happy hour. I like tequila ,but I got an awesome education from our server and learned a lot more about tequila. I had veggie tacos on the happy hour menu and they were awesome, filled with flavor and a fair size. I did also have a fantastic tequila recommend by our server. This spot is right in downtown and easy to find.in addition the building offers a really cool atmosphere with plenty of space. read more

The cocktails here are amazing and so beautifully presented!! We stopped in for a drink and some appetizers and ended up staying for several hours trying different cocktails. Their tequila list is endless, as the name suggests. Our waitress was so nice and welcoming. Highly recommend for a nice dinner outing! read more

Taco Tuesdays! half off on tacos. great service. been there twice already. however, the second time, the waitress spilled my drink on my cardigan. She's really nice, however, my cardigan is ruined because the drink has blueberry/raspberry in it and my cardigan was turquoise. I was sad that she didn't comp the drink at the end of the night. Also, she didn't really help me clean up either. That was an unfortunate story. regardless, the jicama shrimp tacos were delicious and light. duck tacos were also great with the sauce. Salmon tacos were salty, wouldn't recommend it. I haven't tried the carnitas yet. other dishes are in the $15-20 range a plate. I thought it was pricy for Hispanic food, however, that is the normal price here in Anchorage so I am learning slowly. definitely recommend Taco Tuesdays! and try wear something that you don't mind getting spilled on. read more

I thought I was never going to experience this. But when I was there, waiting for a table, I noticed the hostess was looking me up. I was there waiting for a table. 4 people came in after me. They were looking good dress nice and she gave them tables by the window. And then she came to me and said oh, we have a table open by the bathroom. just because I didn't look nice they judge me. just saying I could've pay for all those people that went before me don't judge a book by its cover. Never again I will go to this place. read more

Wow!!! I'm visiting from California.. the manager dumped food all over my clothes and hair I just showered and washed my hair after a long day on a Atv tour and being wet. I had to immediately go in the bathroom and clean off my clothes a hair and was wet all over again.. I understand accidents happened but the manger said.. you survived right?! You're ok... my bill was 120.00 and they couldn't even comp my drink or give me a small discount for unconvincing me... the food wasn't good at all either.. seriously this is unexceptable!! read more

We went for drinks and appetizers. The mixed drinks were unique and mixed perfectly each time. Most of the appetizers were very good. But I gave a 4 because the calamari was a bit different. Almost didnt taste like calamari. The waitress was amazing and gave great suggestions. read more

We ordered the empanadas, duck confit tacos, and salmon tacos. The salmon was spoiled and made us sick. The duck confit and empanadas were good though. I would expect better from a prominent restaurant downtown. read more

We've been here twice, the first time we had exceptional service, food was great! The second time was a major disappointment! Steak was something I would expect from a buffet line, ( buffet line would probably be better) the server, was horrible till he picked up the check, probably seen me typing the review and 1 star. We won't be returning. Sad evening, I've been craving this place for 3 months since the last time we were in read more

We liked the live DJ in the restaurant, the staff are all super friendly, and the food was great! The menus was a little limited, but heard they were in the process of adding some more things. I can't believe I beat Nasha Weller to the punch in reviewing a restaurant in Anchorage. read more

First things first this was a great experience. Great environment, great music! My friends wife got the ceviche and said it tasted just like grandmas back home in Mexico. The waiter was great. Food came out and the carnitas were by far the best I've ever had in my life. And this peculiar time we were there slash. Yes slash from guns and roses was there and played sweet child o mine on his guitar. Would recommend to anyone!!! read more

The food was really good, we had the shrimp ceviche and carne asada tacos, prob the best I've ever had. BUT, skip the margaritas. They tasted great but were in served in a skinny glass with a ton of ice, maybe 5 oz of drink at best. Total rip off. This place can and should do better. read more

Covid policies Menu is slightly altered and they didn't have the salmon. Food was decent - the tuna tartare is excellent. Vegan curry was just ok - not out of this world. Service was excellent- don't remember our servers name but he did an excellent job. Would definitely recommend calling in advance to check the menu - would recommend the tuna appetizer. read more

What a great place... I called Pablo at 5pm and asked if he could seat 25 that night. Super helpful and got my team squared away. Alex took great care of us and the good was really good. Gema!!! Our server of the evening was amazing! Correction Is amazing! I'm someone who is very very picky with food, haven't ate beef pork or any seafood in over 8 years! Well she got me to try the popcorn shrimp and chipotle crepe which is duck... Delicious !!!!! Being from San Diego and Mexican I know what Mexican food should taste like. This is hands down the best restaurant in Anchorage by far! Not only did I try those dishes also the mole de Hoya chicken dish... Amazing! And as for drinks I love tequila, the tropical margarita, toooo die for! If you want something refreshing this is it! And yes you can taste the love in the drinks. I say drink because the old fashioned bourbon is a delight. As Smooth as silk going down so much so even a non bourbon drinker as myself can enjoy this! All over I give a 200%!!!!!!!! Better than half of the restaurants in San Diego! You all are lucky this is in your town! I love it and can't wait to be back! Xoxoxoxoxoxo read more

Beautiful place. Delicious food! Appetizers were great. I like the abuelas queso and the jalapeño poppers. I also had the al pastor and some delicious strong drinks. Stopped in for a late dinner. Food and service was good. The pork tacos were very tasty. The rice was exceptionally good. The guacamole tasted fresh. The missing star is for the house margarita- it was weak and tasteless. Need to revisit that recipe. read more

Beautiful looking place! Table for two who ordered tapas, beers, and tacos. Salmon Tacos -A mixture I wasn't expecting in my Tacos with fried onions, salmon, pineapple. It was very delicious but it didn't come with sauce in or out of the taco and was on the drier side. Would be much more better with a sauce added to it Jicama Tacos -Very different as the jicama is the actual tortilla so to speak. It's very delicious but it gets very wet. If it were taken to go it would definitely not last. The misses loved the Tacos and I thought it was just way too messy. Popcorn Shrimp -Very delicious and it actually makes you forget you're actually eating shrimp for a second. It has a taste more of a orange chicken but I thought it was filling and delicious! Chorizo Empanadas -The best plate of the night and served as tapas, comes with two sauces both of which are delicious. Decent serving for two and would've ordered more in a heartbeat It was filling for a couple of tapas and Tacos. The two beers that I ordered were delicious and were in the cutest cups! The menu had a great range of cocktails / margaritas and so did the dinner menu. Our server Ivana was very nice and attentive to whatever we had needed. It's a bit on the pricier side which is why the 4 stars. If it wasn't for the damn ice cream joint across the street I would've had the horchata cornbread in front of me but the misses was craving cornbread. I was recently talking to my sister about my favorite Mexican restaurants from all the places we've visited, and I started describing this place but I couldn't remember the name. I finally found it! We came in on a Friday afternoon in a rush since we had to be at the airport in a few hours. Service was quick. We ordered a bunch of small plates and shared: some tacos, empanadas, ceviche, and of course dessert (although I can't remember what the desserts were anymore). But anyways, I loved the presentation of the food, super cute! I was definitely not expecting to find amazing Mexican food in Anchorage, and when I travel I try to stay away from it because I have plenty inside my own home lol, but I'm so glad we made an exception and stopped in here! read more

This is my 4th time going to Tequila 61. Normally I don't have any problems going to this restaurant. The food is great, and you can't beat the 1/2 off Tacos on Tuesday! So it's Tuesday and the tacos and drinks were good like usual. But the service was off. I rarely order dessert, but decided to order it tonight. I think I sat there for 20 minutes before I asked for my check because my dessert never came. The server said, "Oh! You never got it?" She never apologized. She just handed me my check. I'm disappointed that she never checked on me after I ordered it and she only came up to me because I had to let another server know that my dessert never came. It's unfortunate small details like this can change your attitude about a restaurant. read more

We went there for dinner last night after looking through google maps for some various options. Decided on this place because it had decent reviews and looked nice inside. So glad we did. First of all, the decor and restaurant in general is beautiful inside. Once we were sat (which was quick since it was a Tuesday night off season), the staff took care of us wonderfully. The service here is FANTASTIC. Our waitress was great and fun to talk with, and the hostess was helpful too. We wanted to take a picture in front of the sign as you walk in, and she stopped what shew as doing to come offer to take the picture for us (we were taking a selfie). The food was delicious too. The only thing that would have made this experience perfect was if they had Tapatio, but even without it, the food was great. Modelo on Tap with some tacos made me feel like I was right at home. I highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed. read more

Husband and I went here last night for a date night. We have really wanted to try this place and last night we finally were able to. Walked in and was immediately seated. About 7 mins later the server came by and said that she would be with us in a min. About 5 mins after that she came by and said that it would be another min. Finally after another 5 mins she finally came by and said she would get us water. I went ahead and ordered the stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer. Mushrooms came out quickly and were hot which was great. A different server or a runner brought those out to us. They tasted wonderful. Unfortunately, for $9 you get 6 tiny mushrooms. Another unfortunate is that our server, Baylee, has still not come back to take our order until after we finished our appetizers. We should have just gotten the check at this point and left. My husband and I decided to try all of the skewers. They had beef, chicken, shrimp and veggie. All of those together were $39 plus we added 2 orders of beans and rice to round out the meal. I'm not kidding when I tell you it took almost an hour to get 3 of the 4 skewers. The server dropped 3 of the plates off without saying anything so I assumed that she was going back for the last plate and the rice and beans. Nope. She was over at another table chatting. The food was already lukewarm when we got it. We waited 10 more mins for the last skewer and the rice and beans. The food was good. However, when you picture a skewer you picture a couple of pieces of meat on that skewer. Nope. There literally was a 2" strip of meat on each. They could have used a toothpick and had plenty of space on each side. Each plate had 4 skewers. The veggie skewers had 1 slice of zucchini, 1 piece of mushroom, a small piece of artichoke and a small piece of tomato. You would think $40 worth of food would amount to more than you can eat. Especially when you add rice and beans. Btw, don't order the rice and beans. No flavor. I would compare the beans to canned but they at least have more flavor. I never salt my food but I had to use a ton on the rice and beans. Alas we spent $60 and had to go home and make a sandwich. The only reason this is receiving 2 stars is because the skewers actually tasted nice. At least what there was of it. I can say my experience was much nicer than for the couple across from us. They ordered their meal before we got there. They finally got it about 5 mins before we left. read more
