Excellent food. I really like this place because the restaurant has people (outside of your server) to refill your chips, salsas, drinks, and food runners to make sure it gets delivered hot. This is the only Mexican restaurant that also provides a free cup of cheese for your chips . Food is consistent and so is their great service, reguardless how busy they are. Love them! read more

Taste like I'm back in Los Cabos!! Love the authentic flavors and great service! One of the best Mexican restaurant in Anchorage!

Love love love. Food, service, all the things you're looking for. Come for any game or Thursday night fights

The fahitas were mediocre and greasy. We sat in the bar, which was loud and dimly lit. Service was slow and part of of order was not brought. The margaritas were too sweet and served in plastic unchilled glasses. The Pina Collada was too awful to describe. The quacamole and Pico de Gallo were excellent. read more

Brought my dad and ge really enjoyed the flavors and portions. Food took awhile but was worth the wait. Pricing is decent too

The food and atmosphere was great and this restaurant was recommended to me be close friends in the area. I would definitely recommend.

Seems like there's many Mexican restaurants in Anchorage. This one is on Dowling between lake Otis and old Seward. I hadn't really been to this one before. We came on a Saturday at 11:30 but they didn't open till 12. The server was a very friendly guy and got pretty busy while we were there. We got chips and salsa right away and the chips were still warm! I got a lunch special with 1 chicken enchilada with rice and beans. It was ok. There was barely any sauce on the enchilada, and the inside was packed with chicken but no cheese if any inside. No flavor to it. Rice and beans were good. read more

From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the southwestern colors and decorations, the smell of generic Mexican/American cuisine, and the gently lilting tones of a middle-aged Latin-x crooner wowing the laid back Friday night crowd with a passable rendition of "Oye Como Va", a Santana classic. Were it not for the fact that Santana is one of my late father's most favorite musical acts didn't have rotating tap.M, I might have enjoyed the raucous bassline that was motivating exactly nobody to dance, as the keyboard playing and vocals were mediocre at best. The mediocrity continued. Let's start with the fact that the restaurant has very large windows and no shades whatsoever. This fact made it necessary for me to switch places with the couple I was dining with, as they were not equipped with either baseball hats or sunglasses (I had to wear both to be comfortable) Now to the menu! I swear, if you have had the somewhat dubious pleasure of dining in nearly any of the mid-range Mexican restaurants in this town, you could probably recite this menu blind. The only thing that might have been a surprise would have been the rotating tap beer that they didn't have. Next came the service: perfunctory, with an accent, and a distinct lack of attention to the very basic detail that the female member of the couple I was dining with only ordered a single shrimp taco and beans and rice a la carte. The server then politely informed her of the option to not consume the other taco. Brilliant, she wished she had thought of that, oh wait, she did when she order a single shrimp taco. The server then proceeded to mistake limes for lemons (ordered to accompany the tea). She did smile graciously at my pronunciation of Sopapillos, so there is that. Guess 5 years of Spanish paid off when she politely informed me that they had none. I mean, I guess it was exactly as expected? read more

Ok, Mexican restaurants seem very "much of a muchness" and I've yet to find one I hate, or yet again, one that I absolutely rave about. Having read the reviews prior to coming, I was dubious. But I've rarely had bad Mexican food, so we decided to give it a whirl. The interior is quite nice, we got a very nice corner booth, which is appreciated on date night. Chips and dip were instantly served, and drinks order taken, I ordered a Chile relleno, a tamale, and french fries. He got a cheese enchilada dinner The fries were good and crispy, tamale was good comfort food, and the Chile relleno was also ok, but i found the egg batter, very eggy, and overwhelmed the flavour of the whole relleno, and not the best I've had. If it's any indication, I didn't leave any, so it couldn't have been that bad. The service was outstanding though. read more

I haven't been to Los Arcos for years as I did not like their food or Margaritas. A group of us went about a week ago for a celebration, large group of 15. The restaurant was sold a couple years ago (I think). This time the food, drinks and service were top notch. Service was quick and very welcoming and the food I had was very good. I had the Pollo Fundida and it was amazing and super large. The Margarita was great, I could actually tell there was alcohol in them this time. Everyone at the table was happy with their food and drinks. I will be going back in the future. What a turnaround! read more

First off, there were no vegetarian dishes Secondly, I ordered a shrimp, and it was so greasy that it made my stomach upset, and there was pork in my shrimp taco, which I am allergic to. The waiter took piece of pork , but didn't offer to replace my meal. The margarita was so water down that it was a joke . The salsa was like tomato paste and didn't have any spice to it. The guacamole was very bland, and the chips were greasy. I had heard they had a new cook and so was giving them a second chance because the last time I went there everything was bathed in like huge pools of grease. The food was terrible not edible. It was a big waste of my $50. I would not waste my time on this place. I think the health department needs to go and close it down. One star is too many, but it won't let me post my review without a star. In actuality, this is like a -10. Don't go here!!!! read more

I have yet to have a bad experience here. Every time I come the food is consistent. It's a nice size restaurant with simple Mexican decor. The booths are pretty big and spacious. There is two sides the the restaurant, but I've only ever been seated on one side. The other side has TVs. I'm assuming it's a party room, but it's really crazy that they're only one one side instead of throughout the restaurant. The service has never been bad based on every visit I've made here. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. They don't even correct your pronunciation here. I have ok Spanish, but my husbands is a disaster. I always laugh, but they never do. Just smile and listen. The food is always fresh. There's only been one time I felt like my food had been sitting and that's when I ordered the children's (which should be listed as an adults because it's huge) cheeseburger plate. I know, a cheeseburger at a Mexican restaurant, but my son had it twice and he was raving about how good it was. And it was good. My fries were cold though. Punishment received. Other than that, it's always hot and tastes fresh. My only gripes about this place are the tv situation and that you only get one refill when you buy a soft drink. Like, what?! All these fresh chips and hot salsa, then your food comes and you're expected to only have two cups of soft drink before paying for another?! That's crazy to me. I'm a rare drinker so I haven't had a drink there, but the tiajuana Taco is amazing!! read more

I'm still a fan of this spot. I come occasionally to pick up shrimp cocktail. I usually sit at the bar and have a margarita, rocks salt. I think all the servers are decent, and am glad that one guy from years ago is not there anymore, not a fan. I came in wearing a mask recently and these old hicks were complaining about masks and vaccine. Like, what? You can do whatever you want, but don't rag about me being safe and keeping you safe. Whatever. But I still think this place has the best chips and salsa in town. Will come again. read more

I decided to give this place another chance after being away for almost two years after the terribly long wait a friend and I had to endure along with the lackluster food. Fortunately, things were a lot better for us this time around when we came in for lunch earlier today. We arrived at the restaurant around 12:30PM. When we walked in, the place was mostly empty. However, we were acknowledged quickly at the door by a host who directed us to a booth by the window and took our drink orders right away. A minute later, a friendly waitress greeted us and gave us menus to look over until we were ready. My friend decided to order the Chile Rellenos combo while I decided to try something a little more unusual with the Pollo Fundido (a large burrito deep-fried filled with cream cheese, shredded chicken, and topped with a dollop of sour cream and a slice of melted cheese). By that time, other diners started pouring in and the lunch rush was well under way. Unlike our last visit, our orders arrived within a very reasonable time frame of 10-15min. My friend enjoyed her Chile Relleno which had plenty of melted cheese sprinkled on top as well as the refried beans. The Pollo Fundido was delicious. The cream cheese and the shredded chicken made for a unique flavor combination to go with the burrito's crispy texture. I ordered a side of fresh guacamole that enhanced the flavor of the chicken and was also a good addition to the complimentary chips and salsa that came to our table earlier after we arrived. The service this time around was a lot more efficient and sincere. I was happy to give this place a second chance knowing that this location has been around for many years since 1990 and has its share of devoted customers. read more

I'd heard great things about Los Arcos, and I've been meaning to try it. You get chips and salsa, which is always a plus! They also bring out a hotter salsa. Like most things in Alaska though, it's just not that hot. I still appreciate offering a hotter option though! I got a lunch special with a burrito and a "Tijuana Taco". I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what a Tijuana Taco was going to be like. I assumed it would be like a SoCal taco: meat, onions, cilantro, with a lime. It wasn't. It was more like the taco equivalent of a "wet' burrito. It all came out on a big, hot plate with rice and beans. A classic Tex-Mex setup. Service was incredible. Quick and friendly. Food was OK, very similar to many sit-down Tex-Mex restaurants in Anchorage. read more

Sucks big time no pico for the fajitas , an house Margarita was sub par ! Double x on this place an won't be back

Edible but that's about it. Good service, lousy food. They used to be much better. Won't be going there anytime soon again.

Placed an order through door dash, one whole hour later the dasher is messaging me saying the restaurant is not accepting delivery on Cinco De Mayo.... because they are "too busy". They took an extra 15 minutes to cancel the order, and didn't answer the phone when I tried calling to see if they could cancel the order. Don't do business if you can't keep up with the demand. Don't list your business for delivery on door dash if you aren't going to fulfill the order. You wasted everybody's time. Please don't waste your time with this restaurant, because they clearly don't care about yours. read more

I really thought there was absolutely no good Mexican food in Anchorage until I came here. Where it's still Americanized, it's as close as your going to get around here. The fajitas are great, the portions are large, and they make some mean margaritas. After I have taken my husband and my parents here, this is the place they think of when you mention going for Mexican. One side is just restaurant and the other half is where the bar is and a bit more informal seating with TV's so you can watch sports. They also sometimes have music in the evenings. read more

If I could rate this resturaunt 0 or a negative number i would but i have to select 1.. Today we decided to give Los Arcos a try. Upon our arrival we patiently waited at the front counter with no line for 15 minutes .. While waiting the female waitress never came to at least seat us down.. Finally A male waiter sat us down and said he woyld bring out salsa, chips, and water.. Never came out..The female waitress that handled this side of the restaurant never came to our table to take our order. She was attending to the table right next to us but never acknowledge our present. Never again will we back to this restaurant. read more

Not very impressive. I ordered a taco salad because I was in the mood for the shell... unfortunately it didnt have a shell and was more like a chicken, nacho supreme dish. I found pieces of bad lettuce and water in the bottom which made the chips soggy. Yuck. My partner was not impressed with chili verde, either. Not very much flavor, huge chunks of pork which she basically had to cut first in order to eat. Temperature wise it was almost too hot to even take a bite. Had to wait a long while for it to cool off. Will not order that again and might not ever return. Too expensive as well. read more

This place doesn't look like much from the outside... but it's great inside. I'm from California and this is the real deal. We sat on the bar side and it was inviting. Free fresh homemade chips and salsa (two types) which was really good, I bought a pound of the chips and a pint of the salsa to bring home with me. I shared the fajitas with my fiancé and the were fresh, seasoned well, and there was plenty for us to share. The drinks were strong, but good (good thing we were walking home). Dear Los Arcos, I don't eat meat. You're a Mexican Restaurant. It's hard to meet someone like you. So when you had the Spinach Enchilada for "special" people like me, I just wanted to hug you. Awesome Mexican in Anchorage? Heck yes! I don't think I would have ever heard of this place, especially on a 4 day trip, if it weren't for the coupon on the back of the Fred Meyer receipt. We ripped the receipt in half, and drove over to Los Arcos, which is in a strip mall off Dowling. First off....who on earth decorated this place? Strange fabric lapshades, tacky sponge painting that looks like splotchy enchilada sauce....you'll have plenty to look at once you order your food. You'll get a basket of chips with 5 different salsas....all different, from mild to spicy. The lunch specials range from $9-12, so it's not super cheap Mex, but it's definitely tasty. The cheese enchiladas may have been the best thing I put in my mouth in the nation's 49th state. The rice and cheesy beans were also fab. Our server was energetic and got our food out to us quickly. The food was so good, we grabbed another Fred Meyer receipt and got lunch again two days later. It was just as good as the first time. Looks like I'll have to hop a plane whenever I need my enchilada sauce sponge painting fix. read more

Ok I should start by stating that I"m just beginning my quest of Mexican restaurants in this town so I don't have too much to compare too other then Taco King, and La Mex. With that being said I thought Los Arco's was ok. I'm not a super fan of Mexican, I prefer Asian cuisine more, but once in awhile a good Mexican gut bomb hits the spot. The restaurant itself was pleasant enough. On the smaller side but I went on a Sunday and it was pretty quiet and peaceful. I was immediately seated and given a glass of water, basket of chips, and hot and mild salsa. The chips were decent. Not too thin or thick. The Salsa was ok. I'm more of a medium salsa person, so the hot was just hot, and the mild was just too mild. I ended up mixing them together to get one I liked, and it was definitely better but both were not what I would consider amazing salsas. I ordered a "mexican dinner" which came with beans and rice. I got a Spinach enchilada and a beef taco. The enchilada was good, but very cheesy so after a few bites you just get kindof grossed out on that whole cheese thing. It reminded me of like queso cheese, runny, and spicy with spinach inside the enchilada. The first few bites were tasty but you can't eat much of that, as its just gets too salty and just yucky. The taco was just ok...crispy (other then the bottom that was sitting in the queso cheese) but the meat was a bit weird. It appeared to be cooked with onions, and was in my opinion a bit bland, ok but overall not much flavor and pretty boring. I got a side of guacamole to go with it which I normally do. I kept tasting a hint of what seemed like Anise in my taco, but then determined it was coming from the guacamole. I usually love Guac, but honestly I didn't really like this batch, something about a slightly mild sweet taste of Anise or Cinnamon in it just didn't mesh with my tastebuds or make for a good combo, so I didn't really enjoy it very much. The beans were good, and I don't eat Spanish rice so I can't review that. Overall I would give it 3 stars. It was good...much better then Taco King but not amazing. Too many weird flavor combos going on for me to fully enjoy it. Service was great though, and prices were reasonable for a mexican dinner plate. read more
