Stopped by this burrito spot for a quick bite. The staff was friendly, and the environment was clean and casual, so there's nothing to complain about there. As for the food, it was your standard burrito. Nothing special or particularly memorable, but it gets the job done if you're hungry and in a pinch. It's the kind of place you might not go out of your way for, but it works when you need something fast and filling.

Xalos sure has expanded since I moved to Anchorage, and I am more than OK with that! This location snuck right up on me. It is where the mediocre pizza place (Chicago something or other? I forget the name?) next to the amazing pizza place (Moose's Tooth) used to be. It's the same style as the other locations, you look up at the menu board. There is a plethora of pre-made burrito options (perfect for those of you too indecisive for Subway-style burrito joints), you pick one, you order at the counter, and they bring it out to you. It's SO SIMPLE. I usually go right at 11am when the open, it's so quick and it's perfectly priced. I always get the birria (sp?) burrito and some extra hot salsa. Give them a try if you're in the area, or maybe even if you aren't!

Be aware that they charge an additional fee for credit card use. I like the Hispanic decor and the background music which is also in Spanish. The street tacos, one Carnitas, one Carne Asada. We're both very good.

I was pleasantly surprised when I drove by and noticed a new Xalos close to my stomping grounds! Super clean, very friendly and of course a great menu! All the options and a great selection of Jarritos! I ordered my food to go and the presentation was wonderful. They have a few tables inside as well as cute bistro seating outside.

I've been to this place a couple times now and it does not disappoint. Aside from the food being flavorful and delicious they're consistent. I've had the spicy burrito, the carnitas tacos, the torta and the pozole. I would highly recommend their carnitas they're juicy, tender and have a lot of flavor. The pozole is huge and comes with delicious sides to add in the soup as well as a generous basket of tortilla chips. The strawberry horchata is also MUST it's fantastic and not overly sweet. All of the employees I've encountered have been really nice. They always ask if you want extra sauces and the food comes out in a reasonable amount of time. It's more of a fast food restaurant you walk up to the counter to order they give you a number and then you pick a table. The restaurant is spacious and has always been really clean when we've dined in. I've seen them clean tables as soon as patrons leave.

Mexican Caesar salad with the dressing on the side (my request). It's sooo good. They made it quickly, I was in a hurry to get back to work. I've been here many times and their food is amazing.

This is my favorite place for a queso birria taco fix, and the fresca horchata is deliciously refreshing. The establishment is clean and welcoming. One time, I even had the best ceviche ever! Sadly, they don't have ceviche on their menu anymore. The service is always pretty decent.

Birria street taco and super burrito!

This was my first time here. I was really excited when I went in, because the menu and layout reminded me of the numerous 'bertos' in Phoenix that served AWESOME super nachos (My favorite was Filiberto's, but Haliberto's was a close second). I like how the store was clean and comfortable. All staff were wearing masks, and they have a sign on their door requesting customers to wear masks. Unfortunately there was an upset lady trying to cause trouble at the store. Security was there trying to work with her, and staff were trying to facilitate her leaving with minimal engagement. They did an OK job handling the trespasser, they could have been more assertive. I had the birria street tacos and a chicken super burrito. The taco was pretty tasty, and pretty good value. The burrito was massive, and I enjoyed tackling a monster like that. It was delicious, but the flavor was dull compared to what I was expecting. There's nothing wrong with their ingredients, it just all seemed to be of average quality resulting in dull flavor. Like I said, it's good value though. I'm going to keep Xalos in mind for times I'm in a hurry but need a quick, hearty meal to fill up. I look forward to exploring more of their menu, and I just heard that their ceviche is great.

We thought it was regular hot sauce... so naturally, I absolutely drenched my burrito in it. Big mistake. HUGE. This is to be asked for by customers lol... and it was left out by mistake... One bite in and it felt like I got maced straight to the soul Tears pouring, coughing, face on fire--we couldn't even eat our food because it was that insanely hot. Honestly, it was next-level pain... but also kind of hilarious once we survived it Here's the part that really matters: the owner handled it like a pro. He apologized sincerely, took full responsibility, and didn't even charge us for the meals. That kind of customer service is rare and says a lot about the people who run this place. Owner is amazing and thoughtful... really great people there Accidents happen--but great businesses make it right, and they absolutely did. Awesome food, great atmosphere, cold beer , and genuinely good people. We'll definitely be back (just... maybe staying away from the 357 Magnum next time ). I usually wouldn't eat Mexican food in Alaska those two don't really go together in my brain being from California but I wanted to give it a try anyway lol I ordered the Cilantro Shrimp Molcajete and some chips and salsa on the side. First I will say I don't see why certain restaurants charge for chips and salsa it should be free in my opinion. The salsa lacked flavor and was more sweet than anything. (I asked for the spiciest salsa they have) and the order was $8.. I get it for the size I was surprised but that salsa wasn't good. Moving on to the main dish tho we have the Molcajete which was really good in my opinion. It came out SIZZLING! and the size of it wasn't what I was expecting. So if you're hungry I would def get one of those entrees ! The flavor of the fajita mix was good and the amount of shrimp you get was super filling. That dish was about $38 with the shrimp. The bartender was nice and asked me if I was doing okay a few times and also made sure my water was filled which was great he seemed really knowledgeable of all the good food recommendations and was pretty quick with service so employees were cool ! All in all I enjoyed my early dinner in a nice place that played good Latin music and I liked that it's walking distance from my hotel. I would eat here again one day and try some of their tacos next because I hear they are pretty good. I would say they need to just make the chips free because the are NOT worth $8 lol like at all but other then that decent place.

While the mole sauce was delicious, the chicken thighs I received were so small and bony, my rice lacked flavor and the beans were very soupy. My chips were like the little broken pieces at the bottom of the bag making it hard to scoop any decent amount of salsa into them. For almost $30/plate I was anticipating more protein, bolder flavors and better quality. I want to give them another chance, but sometimes first impressions are lasting impressions. Service was friendly but waitstaff were busy so not as attentive. Ambiance is what you'd expect from a hole in the wall.

Like they were frozen, thawed and froze again. The sauce they simmered it in wasn't good and I'm convinced helped overcook them to a rubbery consistency. I know it's not a steak house, but they cook steak for other items so I figured I'd be okay. My partner said his ranchero steak wasn't very good. He only ate it so I wouldn't feel uncomfortable eating while he waited. The meat wasn't very good he said, tasted old. He said the sauce wasn't very good either. For the rise in prices of things quality has gone down. They haven't done much for improvements - my seat had a big gash in it. Unfortunately after being a customer for many years I don't see myself returning here after 3 strikes this year of poor quality food at an inflated price. I think they should consider cutting their menu in half and really focusing on making quality dishes.
