Service is excellent and speed is also good. I would say it may be a bit inconsistent as far as garnishing goes. I ordered the picante burrito with carnitas. I really enjoy the idea of crema and the cojita with the pickled onions... ...sadly it was delivered without the onions. Without the cojita. And without the crema. I did not ask for them not to put it but it came without it. I would absolutely come again, the food was great but I just needed to request the toppings I thought were automatically included. The Jamaica was very good and perfect Overall I'd say they are wonderfully authentic and makes me proud to have as an option in Alaska read more

First time here. Ordered several different kinds of tacos and the Guac and chips. Food was wonderful. Lots of space to eat in. Would come back! read more

just got back from urgent care. its 4:30 am and I've been up all night with what the doc says was "severe food poisoning. my family got and ate from your place, yesterday August 25th. following the time line, only your food (according to the doc) caused it. please forgive all the typing errors. Food is great. The female cashiers have attitudes because they speak minimal English and get every order wrong or give me incorrect change each time I come here. Cooks and cashier's gossip about you in Spanish right in front of you. Wouldn't recommend anybody eat here even if they're starving unless they can speak Spanish to check these MFS. read more

I've been going to Xalos for the last two years, and it has been so reliable, quick and GOOD every single time. I'm a creature of habit and always get the birria tacos. Perfect taste and loaded with birria - portions are absolutely insane! The Cinco de Mayo burrito also doesn't miss. Can't sing their praises enough, def check them out! read more

Stopped by this burrito spot for a quick bite. The staff was friendly, and the environment was clean and casual, so there's nothing to complain about there. As for the food, it was your standard burrito. Nothing special or particularly memorable, but it gets the job done if you're hungry and in a pinch. It's the kind of place you might not go out of your way for, but it works when you need something fast and filling. read more

Stopped on a whim while driving by. Good find! Authentic Mexican (went with two Mexicans), nice service. The only -1 star was the cleanliness. But then again, I'm a snob when it comes to a clean restaurant. The floor was dirty, the chairs were worn and torn, the tables were a little grimy. But we'd definitely go back! Food was great! Loved the flavor and presentation. read more

Really good authentic SoCal style burritos. The spicy is more tangy than spicy, but really good. First time here, but I'll be back. Service was quick and friendly. Plenty of parking. They could use some TVs...it's Super Bowl today and feeling let down. Would be cool to have a little tequila bar setup in a corner or something. That would be six stars. read more

When they are on they are amazing. If you ask for anything out of the ordinary or to be left off your meal, be prepared to be disappointed. Three times in a row now they have added extra items to my meal, meaning three times I've paid for a meal I won't eat. There will NOT be a fourth. Two of these were Door Dash orders, one in person. Can't do anything about the DD - how do you fox that? The in person - when ai took it to the counter and brought it to their attention, they literally stood there not saying anything nor knowing what to do. I ended up leaving with a $19 soft drink. Too bad. Such great flavors when they get it right. read more

Best Mexican food in Alaska! The queso barria tacos are my favorite with strawberry horchata:)

Awesome homemade food! I wish I had one of these near me, everything was so fresh and delicious. The staff were great - the vegan burrito was the best I've had. The flavours are so good. Portions are great, place is busy and clean. Order at the counter and they'll bring it to you or get it to go. A casual and highly recommended spot. We'll be back if we're ever in town again. read more

Xalos sure has expanded since I moved to Anchorage, and I am more than OK with that! This location snuck right up on me. It is where the mediocre pizza place (Chicago something or other? I forget the name?) next to the amazing pizza place (Moose's Tooth) used to be. It's the same style as the other locations, you look up at the menu board. There is a plethora of pre-made burrito options (perfect for those of you too indecisive for Subway-style burrito joints), you pick one, you order at the counter, and they bring it out to you. It's SO SIMPLE. I usually go right at 11am when the open, it's so quick and it's perfectly priced. I always get the birria (sp?) burrito and some extra hot salsa. Give them a try if you're in the area, or maybe even if you aren't! read more

This was my first visit to Xalos's and I was very impressed . I ordered the halibut taco . It was only 7.00 , I expected it to be small so I ordered a side of black beans and rice for 3.75 . The taco was a nice size with a generous portion of halibut .The beans and rice were very good . It was great that I had my choice of refried beans or black beans . The meal was delicious and healthy ! My favorite combination ! The interior of this place is cool . Very well done Mexican style ! I highly recommend Xalos .I will have to ask how I pronounce it when I go back ! read more

Be aware that they charge an additional fee for credit card use. I like the Hispanic decor and the background music which is also in Spanish. The street tacos, one Carnitas, one Carne Asada. We're both very good. read more

I've been to this place a couple times now and it does not disappoint. Aside from the food being flavorful and delicious they're consistent. I've had the spicy burrito, the carnitas tacos, the torta and the pozole. I would highly recommend their carnitas they're juicy, tender and have a lot of flavor. The pozole is huge and comes with delicious sides to add in the soup as well as a generous basket of tortilla chips. The strawberry horchata is also MUST it's fantastic and not overly sweet. All of the employees I've encountered have been really nice. They always ask if you want extra sauces and the food comes out in a reasonable amount of time. It's more of a fast food restaurant you walk up to the counter to order they give you a number and then you pick a table. The restaurant is spacious and has always been really clean when we've dined in. I've seen them clean tables as soon as patrons leave. read more

Xalos Burrito Express - a plate of food - Mexican Near Me - Anchorage, Alaska

This was my first time here. I was really excited when I went in, because the menu and layout reminded me of the numerous 'bertos' in Phoenix that served AWESOME super nachos (My favorite was Filiberto's, but Haliberto's was a close second). I like how the store was clean and comfortable. All staff were wearing masks, and they have a sign on their door requesting customers to wear masks. Unfortunately there was an upset lady trying to cause trouble at the store. Security was there trying to work with her, and staff were trying to facilitate her leaving with minimal engagement. They did an OK job handling the trespasser, they could have been more assertive. I had the birria street tacos and a chicken super burrito. The taco was pretty tasty, and pretty good value. The burrito was massive, and I enjoyed tackling a monster like that. It was delicious, but the flavor was dull compared to what I was expecting. There's nothing wrong with their ingredients, it just all seemed to be of average quality resulting in dull flavor. Like I said, it's good value though. I'm going to keep Xalos in mind for times I'm in a hurry but need a quick, hearty meal to fill up. I look forward to exploring more of their menu, and I just heard that their ceviche is great. read more

My son ordered Birria Tacos and I ordered Taco Placeros. Both dishes were delicious and the service was excellent.

First time at this location; also first salad from any Xalos for me. I always got burritos. The Mexican Caesar Salad with Steak is amazing! It's a great presentation, I added green tomatillo salsa, and it's oh so good! They didn't skimp on the steak or avocado, which is key. Having a salad option really makes this a more attractive lunch spot. read more

having spent many years in California with completely authentic Mexican, food and street tacos. This is the only place that I will eat in Anchorage for Mexican food. Well, it's not perfectly exact California street taco, it is the closest thing possible in all of anchorage that I have found so far. we call taco king taco lame! And everything else is just some weird Watered Down brand of Americanized, Mexican. This is the only one in town that seems to be fairly legit! read more

I've had the shrimp tacos and burritos! Fantastic food. It is my go-to first meal when I'm in Anchorage!

Very expensive for a burrito that is basically FULL of white rice and beans. I chose one, the "Fajita Burrito Deluxe" from the menu after reading what ingredients were in it. I picked it because it was WITHOUT beans, WITHOUT rice. It cost $14.50, online their menu said $12.95 for the same item. When ordering the burrito, the counter person pointed at a sign with several choices for beans. I said this is included with the meal? "yes", I then said ok, only if it is a side plate, please do not put it in the burrito, ok?. "Yes". I then received a burrito mostly full of rice and beans, half, or a little more. When I politely asked about this, stating that the item does not list rice, nor beans as part of the ingredients, the counter person pretended to not understand english. This person spoke to someone in the back and both did nothing. First and last time going there. It is not only dishonest to "fill" a burrito with cheap ingredients not listed ANYWHERE in the description, it is also illegal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As per their actual menu: "Fajita Burrito Deluxe" "Filled with steak or chicken, peppers, onions, guacamole, pico de gallo, avocado salsa, cheese, and sour cream." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is no phone number listed to speak to a manager, or owner. Hard to believe that this was just a 'mistake' as they wouldn't make me another one, or answer me. I was extremely polite the entire visit. Lastly it actually tasted good, once you took into account it was just mostly rice and beans. I would give 4 stars for flavor and no stars for dishonesty, but you can only give an overall rating, so 1 star. read more

Went here since it had good reviews on the soup and was close to the office. Got the chicken tortilla soup to go... had zucchini which I'm not a fan of in the soup. Wasn't disgusting but wasn't delicious. Would recommend Serranos tortilla soup, but then I get a side of their pork on the side instead of chicken added to the soup - now that's 5 stars read more

Some folks at work decided to get food from here. I decided to try it for the first time. I looked up the menu and ordered the Picante burrito. Was I impressed with that when it arrived. In fact everything everyone ordered looke delicious. I was expecting a much smaller burrito but boy was that thing hefty. I had it with the carnita for the meat option. It was super good. I love spice but I also don't want it just hot. I want the spice and the flavor of everything and this hit the spot. The "street" tacos another ordered were huge! We had some of the best ceviche I have had, and I make a mean ceviche. I'm a fan! read more

Ordered the vegan burrito and it's delicious! It's loaded with veggies, beans, and rice. Loved the salsa options too.

First time going to Xalos and tried their Machaca Huevos breakfast burrito. It was extremely large and filling, filled with eggs, potatoes, machaca, and a queso sauce. It came with chips and hot sauce. The burrito was just OK (the machaca wasn't the primary flavor), the chips were good, and the "very hot" hot sauce didn't disappoint - it was nice and hot and had good flavor. read more
